Giles Free Speech Zone

The purpose of the "Giles Free Speech Zone" is to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand. A Positive Thread!

I have started this thread for positive posts only. This is not the first thread that was focused on positive statements, they all died with very few comments.
Please feel free to post anything positive you desire. Allen Barrett

Just love your two attempts at satisfying all the complainers on this blog site. Thanks for trying. I just couldn't leave this posting spot empty. It seemed such as shame for there to be no positive postings!

God Bless!!!!

While you are feeling so pompous about this particular thread, let me just say that those of us who oppose you complainers are not going to fall into this trap. Oops, I just did. But some things just need to be said.

What we need is a good tornado to blow this town away. That way, we can all start over. And this time, perhaps we'll learn to work together for the betterment of our community.

Alive! Another day of living without serious health issues, breathing cool air at night, smelling the cut grasses of summer, how fortunate, thankful and positive am I? Very!!! Live in that moment and appreciate the blessings of being alive.

Here's something positive, although unpopular with some men: The pride in a father's heart when he works hard and provides for his children. The children rise up and call their mother blessed. These are positve.

OK...that last post was rather random...

Random? Why did I know one of you would find fault with it?

There's so much good in the best of us and so much bad in the worst of us that it HARDLY behooves any of us to talk about the rest of us! Think.

OK- Something positive- Regardless of the fact I live in a town that I think is going to hell in a handbasket, I am grateful to God that I still have a job in this miserable little town. I am thankful that I have been employed at a small family owned business for sixteen years and although we probably won't be open another six months despite being here since the 70's I am grateful I can get up every morning and hit the clock and provide a roof over my family's head and food in their mouth.

To 5:18...stating that your comment was random does not imply that fault was found with it.

Rain! It has rained on our garden enough to make it a bumper crop.
Crops! In these difficult times when gas is going up the crops are doing well. There will be vegetables galore this year share with your neighbors.
Joy! It comes from inside and goes forward to elicit more from others. Every wave from a passing stranger or smile "pays it forward" in joy.
Beauty! You live here and here is beautiful. Open your eyes and enjoy what God has made.
Loving my life...loving yours too.

I was sitting in the shade late yesterday afternoon with a glass if iced tea in hand. I eased back in my lounge chair and listened to the birds overhead in the trees. It occurred to me that God's majesty is bountiful and that life is precious.

I saw this in the Athens News Currier in the cartoon section...it was the "Love Is" cartoon..."The most precious gift a father can give to his children... is to love their mother.."

Almost made me cry...what a wonderful saying!

Thanks Dixie I posted on June 13th!
It is way to easy to go negative but going positive cleans the mind. Forget who makes you angry, who is in a bad mood, and what the daily news is putting out. Get out and see for yourself the best of right now. We all seem to be stewing in our own fears and worries at the expense of our health. Seek out the positives and be the light for others. I am still a fighter for justice and honesty and living by example. Losing family and friends left and right this year made me embrace the fortune of living in the moment and appreciation of that fortune.

I'm June 12th at 9:17- If I lose my job, God will provide a way for me to land on my feet, as always. I too like the comment about a Father's precious gift to his children. How pretty.

Oh yes, I believe with all my heart in that gospel hymn titled "I Know The Lord Will Find A Way For Me" There's a lot of comfort in that.

Had to come to this topic because the Blast WAB topic was taken over by the "Positive Thread" folks telling negative things and blasting those who post on subject. Help me understand this - A THREAD TO BLAST WAB AND OTHER "TROUBLEMAKERS"! is a negative and the A POSITIVE THREAD is a positive?? Guess it's all in where you're standing.

I've awaken to another beautiful day in a country where free speech and the ability to think independently and worship my God still exists.
Counting my many blessings as I have many and praise be to our Almighty God for everyone of them.

I knew it was just a matter of time til someone like you did come here.
We are all God's children. Even those who don't see things exactly as you do. That makes us neither ignorant or corrupt. OK?
Peace.

you are quite judgmental about me, considering that you have no clue about me or the kind of person I am. You sling the your God speak like someone who thinks that God will think more of them - and will look better on your Heavenly resume when you get to the Pearly gates. I'm comfortable in my beliefs - you, maybe not so much.

Everyday is a great day when I have done something memorable, included others in my life, done something for someone expecting nothing in return and when I turn to Footprints in the Sand when I feel I can't go on and I can feel being lifted up when God feels it's time.

To all of us who blog, we do negative but I know we all do positive be it on the blog or in our hearts. The bottom line is where will we spend our final time.

I am so glad that I have a loving wife, wonderful children and darling grandchildren. I thank God for the blessings he has bestowed upon me and pray every day that he will stay in my life. I thank God every day for the ultimate sacrifice he gave us, by letting his Son Jesus Christ be a sacrifice for our sins. All of this make for a very good outlook on life.
