No, I'm afraid I can't help myself. As long as these people get on here and try to ruin those they dislike, I will be here, the Lord willing, to offer at least an opposing view. Again, isn't that what free speech and dialogue are all about?
I'd like to suggest that the "blogmaster" begin a thread for those being blasted by wab and other troublemakers. Tit for tat? Right?

No WAB! The anonymous posters really don't want to criticize you. They are using ANY MEANS they can to keep the focus off of what is being revealed on the blog topics. They think they can come back and back and back and post criticisms of you and anyone else that reveals information that has been kept under cover "for 200 years" and that they can keep on sending bombs your way that we will eventually tire of coming to the blog and sharing information that ALL need to know. But they are wrong. Dead wrong! People are beginning to see the light. As they see the light they will begin to demand change.

That is right 8:38. They are the ones that have their comfort zone invaded. Very arrogant on their part to think that questions cannot be asked. No one is trying to keep them from exercising their right to free speech. It is comical how they react to being questioned and even funnier is how they try to throw the ten commandments in at that point. What happened to following the good book up until that point. I'll tell ya the answer to that question. The good lord's name is mentioned isn't until is serves their interest. Don't they call that lukewarm? They can continue all they want to counteract those of us in opposition to how our elected and county officials conduct business in this county but, people like me will also continue to exercise my right to free speech and speak my mind. Change is coming just not the change those being questioned would like. It is so funny to watch them squirm!!

You are the one who is wrong if you think I would prefer criminal activity to be kept hidden and guilty parties not punished. NO, I am the kind of person who loves and believes what Hank Williams, Jr. sang in a song. If they are found guilty, then they should swing quickly..instead of writing books and smiling on TV. I cannot speak for others who post on this blog, but I am not in favor of covering anything up! So, that argument doesn't hold water with me.
The thing that bothers me about what you "muckrakers" are doing is that you disregard the criminal justice system and the electoral process as proper ways to not only demand but to effectively bring about change. Once you have "exposed" wrong, then it's not your game anymore. It's as simple as that. Why can't you take your evidence of crime to the proper authorities and exercise your right to vote when elections come along?

8:57 Please remove your rose colored glasses. You speak of the criminal justice system. Don't you watch the state or national news. The criminal justice systems does not always work does not always choose to work. It can be for various reasons. Consider this. Would the distict attorney want to go after another elected official IF he was going to run for election again. It would sorta be like playing russian roulette. I'll explain in case you didn't get my meaning. It would be like turning a loaded gun to your own temple and pulling the trigger. Crazy unless you wanted to die. Our district attorney has turned a blind eye to many things. For example the county mayor who does not live in our county. Citizens are to blame too. She has hauled almost $480,000 to her bank because we are too stupid to speak up. Maybe we are scared. Maybe we like her so much we want her to dupe us. That is just one example of the local da not doing his job. No this isn't another negative comment about another politician. It is a fact that he ignores stuff until it becomes so painful for him not to address the illegal activity.

9:08 I see I peaked your interest. You know so much that you should already know. You are asking me for information?Kinda funny isn't it? Up to this point everything I said was discarded. Guess everyone will just have to be patient and see. Nothing radical about me. I'm a pretty simple person with an opinion. The opinion part is what disturbs you. Yes, I have one just like you. I don't have to prove anything to you. I have done my homework and if you want to know anything further I suggest you do your own research. By no means would I reveal myself and information. I definitely would not want to jeopardize my position.
Guess you will just to be curious and assume.

Well, what would you suggest then? How about a lynch mob or the hiring of a hit man? If the DA ignores criminal activity and if you have the "truth", why then don't you go over his head to whomever that might be? Surely, you don't think even his superiors are corrupt as well? I always had the idea that illegal activity is prosecutable; is that not the case here?

To the 10 June, 11:50 AM poster.

On a different thread you wrote, "wab Your excellency, why didn't you clarify YOUR meaning of the word when you wrote that post? There are so many of us who are beneath you in intelligence, so a little compassion and understanding on your part would have been helpful, don't you think? You should go back and read my 8:19 post and then you would know that I understood what you meant.
NO, I did not ask you sarcastically what Jesus would do; I asked it in a very literal and serious way. Sure Christ became angry and ran the money changers out of the temple. Certainly God killed Uzza for disobeying him. Yes, we have both a loving and wrathful God. I thinkw e all know that who serve the living God.
By the way, please explain to me how "feelings" are unrelated to the formation of opinions. Would you be so kind. And finally, did I not address an issue on this thread by asking about our judicial and criminal justice systems in place to deal with those who break the law? Did I not ask about nepotism laws? I think I did."

I'm sure that in your mind you didn't mean anything sarcastic in your addressing me as "Your excellency" but for some that sets the tone of your whole statement.
The reason I didn't feel a need to clarify the term I used, beyond its own simple meaning, is because I was addressing a large group of intelligent people most of whom had no problem comprehending the term or its meaning. Perhaps I could show a greater consideration, I remember the trouble you had understanding that anal had nothing to do with a persons anatomy, and submit, for your approval, a list of words and their definitions that I might someday use. I did go back and read your 8:19 post and it was just as absurd the second time I read it and gave no greater indication of your comprehension as does your post that I am now responding to.
Whether you asked sarcastically or not the tone was certainly that of a sarcastic post revealing you to be as critical as out of touch. I gave you an example of "what Jesus DID do when he was confronted by the "in-bred" (this word means an arbitrarily narrow social or cultural association) Pharisees. Perhaps you don’t remember this part of the Bible because it was somewhat critical of those in powerful positions who were abusing or misusing that power. Thieves and vipers were among the nicer things Jesus called this bunch of cranial bovine cretins.

You asked, “By the way, please explain to me how "feelings" are unrelated to the formation of opinions”. That is indeed a very strange question for you to ask of me as I have never disassociated feelings from opinions. Feelings, for the most part, are the basis of our opinions. The simple fact that an opinion is a belief not based on absolute certainty shows its close relationship to feelings. A person can hold an opinion that seems to be true in their own mind but would actually remain open for dispute. Example, some are of the opinion that Richard Petty was the greatest stockcar driver ever. On the other hand there are certain truths which by unprejudiced scientific examination are beyond dispute by anyone. Example, throw a bowling ball ten feet straight up and it will fall back to the Earth. I’m sure you’re aware of these things but like so much other information you choose to ignore it. Sorry for you. 3:56 If you mean Janet (Vanzant) and not "Janice", here is the answer
Janet Vanzant lives with her husband and son in Lincoln county. The house on E College Street belonged to a relative of Vanzants and it went into Vanzants name in about 2000. State elections office decided that was enough to allow her to run for office in Giles county even though the laws says you must be a resident. About twice a year you will see a vehicle parked in the drive on College Street. She used to have timers on the lamps in the house but hasnt bothered with that for a couple of years.

Perhaps those feelings are the basis for your inflated "opinion" of self. By the way, do you ignore that part of the Bible where humility and pride of life are addressed? I just wondered.

What do you and others not understand when someone posts on this blog their opinion based on their own personal experiences? It is very arrogant of you and anyone else to discount or discard someone's feelings when you know nothing about their experiences. Who are you to say I am a liar or anyone? We are talking about public figure heads in this county and not private citizens. Persons who work for the county paid for by yours and my tax dollars is open to public scrutiny at anytime. If they don't like it then they should have taken a job in the private sector. It isn't my job to protect the feelings of them and their families. It is however their responsibility to their job to the utmost of their ability. If they do their job right the likelihood of being scrutinized is much slimmer. But, any idiot should know that when working for a county entity paid for by tax dollars, you are accountable to the people.

I'm new to this site, but here's my take on it. The media in a community is charged with the responsibility to act as a watchdog over public officials, elected/appointed bodies and how taxpayer dollars are being spent.
Given the absence of any real media in this town, a void exists that is being filled by this blog (for the most part). The tone of some of the responses to authentic and justifiable questions tells me that our local "media czar" (loosely defined) has been allowed to monopolize with no competition because this community would never tolerate a real newspaper - i.e. one that asks the hard questions, sheds light in very dark corners and blows the lid off the prevailing mentality here that "it's always been done this way" and by the same people - generation after generation. The sad state of Giles County today is the consequence of all that has gone before.

I would agree with you that business as usual isn't always good and certainly not a viable solution when there is evidence of wrongdoing or criminal activity. We don't have Boston tea parties anymore, and neither do we need mob violence. There are institutions in place to take care of the criminals. In addition, there's an electoral process for removing undesirable elected officials who are not doing their jobs.
Furthermore, I think the county needs a "go getter" industrial recruiter, although I realize that success in that arena may be slow in coming with today's economy. I also believe those convicted of crimes should go to jail and not continually be given probation or slaps on the wrists.
Beyond these ideas, I am clueless as to what else could and should be done. What say you?

A relative pointed out to me something today that I should have already known about this "free speech" blog. The reason there are so few who would align themselves with me on this forum is simple; and it's all so clear to me now. The reason is that intelligent and classier Giles Countians wouldn't come here in the first place. Perhaps that serves as somewhat of an indictment of me as well, but that's the situation. They do not respond to you people's attacks because they refuse to get down to your level. Moreover, professional people just overlook all the rantings, ravings, accusations, and etc. They know who started all this and who most of his cohorts are. So there you have it. So, as far as this blog goes, you people can have it. I will no longer cast MY intellectual pearls before swine.

Would an eye witness please put on the blog what Bill Holt's behavior was at the Little League Park. I understand he went off when his grandson did not get all star. Did the other grandfather's get up and make a fool of themselves as well if their grandson didn't make the team. Just wondering. Would make for another good blog site. He resigned from Exchange Club for his behavior, did he do the same for embarrassing the school system and the county commission. He didn't get paid for being in the exchange, but does for the other. Could that be the difference? How embarrassed was his grandson and will children be afraid of him when they start to school?

I heard Holt got escorted off the field AFTER he cussed every official there! What does his grandson think?.....I don't think the 'apple' has fallen too far from the tree. Little ears & eyes at southside have said the grandson 'thinks' he is 'special' and can do as he pleases. Kind of like 'monkey see, monkey do'. Jacko giving Holt an assistant principal has given Holt a 'free' ticket to roam and do as he pleases. Like the improvements at PES? There is yellow mold growing on the classroom walls at southside. Time for the CRAP to stop!! A little bird said the school board will talk about 'incident' at next board meeting. If you are as disgusted as I am, join me at the board meeting and step up to the microphone to claim your 2 minutes of 'free' speech. MINE AND YOUR TAX DOLLARS PAY HOLTS' SALARY. WE CAN FIRE HIM.

What troubles me about Bill Holt and Commissioner Wilburn is the fact that these two commissioners are the ones behind making county employees pay for their own health insurance. Holt should appreciate the fact that this is one of the few benefits those employees have. I'm not sure what Wilburn thinks, but he has defecated in his own hat over this. Election time will tell. I'll certainly campaign against him for this!

Both Holt and Wilburn have a single insurance policy completely paid for by the boe!! I think it is AWFUL for the commission to suggest employees pay an extra $35 for insurance. I heard the financial manager say to the committee, with my own ears, it was her suggestion and $35 was not that much to pay. Maybe if we ALL make her salary we ALL could afford $35! Put on the pressure, call your commissioner and tell him/her to vote no or you will NOT vote for them in the next election. Remember smokers will be paying $50 more per month on their health insurance. That would equal $85 with the suggested $35 increase or $1,020 per year. Yep! I can afford that can you???

You people have got to be kidding me! Do you know how lucky you apparently ungrateful county employees are? Do you know what it is like out in the real world where the rest of us have to pay 50 to 65 percent of our health insurance and more. I am being penalized twice. I pay for my own insurance and then turn around and help pay for the county's employees insurance. Ungrateful and always standing with your hand out. Wilburn just suggested that he also pay a portion. Everyone is effected by the economy and when things like this happen you have tighten the old belt and look for ways to cut back.I am sure the beer drinking, cigarette smokers can afford to cough up an extra $35 towards their own insurance. If not maybe they need to cut out the beer and cigs. I have never seen such disgust in my life as you people complaining about having to contribute to your own health insurance. Would you rather pay what I pay each month of $600 and that is on the low end? No one chips in and pays a portion of mine. Get over it and quit complaining and learn that the taxpayers in this county are not made of money and are tired of paying for all the unjustified spending. Pay your $35, shut up and be glad it isn't more!!

No matter how you slice it and justifiably complain about the $600 per month you pay for helth insurance, the fact remains that it is those two behind this, and paid helth insurance is one of a very few benefits county employees,INCLUDING TEACHERS have.

11:19 Everyone in America has the right to make choices. The right to seek training and/or education after high school. The right to apply for jobs to be employeed by the county; whether by the board of education or a county worker. Just like YOU CHOSE to apply for employment where you work. A wise person would check out the pay scale and benefits before accepting the job. A wise person would try to, peacefully, encourage employers to improve the benefits over the years. (Not lay down and let them constantly abuse their benefits by lowering them and denying pay raises.)
Now to respond to your CHILDISH comments about YOUR sorry benefits and the 'beer & cig.' people.
First of all, if your benefits are rotten; QUIT your sorry job and better yourself by seeking better benefits.
Secondly, a SINGLE policy IS NOT a family policy. ALL I know is BOE employees who have a family policy pay several hundred $$ a month for insurance. I myself have a single policy.
Thirdly, WHO IN THE H*#L MENTIONED BEER?!!..BESIDES YOU!! I do not smoke. However, last time I checked it was not illegal for ppl 18 yrs or older. I do not like to be around smokers. However, in ALL FAIRNESS (a word not known to many Giles County 'leaders') ppl were allowed to smoke when they took out the insurance policy. Now they are being punished it. UNFAIR!! What if a person had cancer when they were included in an insurance policy? What if the insurance company said, 'In January all people with cancer on the policy will have their rates go up $50'? What if the excuse the insurance company was giving was they hoped to cure cancer by charging cancer patients more?
Fourth, 'I am sure they can afford $35. Pay your $35, shut up and be glad it isn't more!!' OMG!!!! Did you vote for Obama? Kind of a dictator comment....don't you think so?? AMERICANS STILL HAVE THE RIGHT, at least now, TO COMMENT, PROTEST, AND OBJECT TO UNFAIR LAWS AND TAXES!! It is called DEMORACY! Happy Fourth of July!

Garner shouldnt be the one to get blasted about the insurance premium. She may have spoke about it in a meeting which is her job. Bill Holt as chairman of the budget committee first raised the suggestion.

I was at the meeting - Loretta Garner FIRST spoke of the $35 increase, saying it wasn't much to pay. LG said SHE thought it was a good idea and ONE she came up with.

As I recall, the cc members there thought they could ALSO impose the same CRAP on employees of the BOE. Holt saw a BOE member there and asked her about the BOE contract with teachers. The BOE employee spoke to the language in the contract, the $50 for smokers and the FACT that teachers have NOT received ANY pay raise in THREE years. With that, Holt hit the table with his 'golden mallet' and hushed the BOE employee. This same employee spoke to R. Reedy after the meeting asking if the $35 increase would be for the entire policy or EACH member of the policy (like $35 for EACH member in a family). If my memory serves me correctly, R. Reedy said 'he thought' it would be EACH family member in a policy.....so much for a little $35 increase.

Girls, girls, girls - remember the old saying about not taking candy from strangers & don't jump in the back seat with a pervert??

Times have changed. It's a different game. It's a very high dollar scam called create a crisis that hurts people (pawns) who can cry for help loudest. It begins with free fall spending & no money left for pencils and teachers. More money flows in the holy bucket, but there's not enough for pencils & teachers, & the cycle repeats like a broken record. So, we reach a point some 5 or 6? years later where the screaming doesn't work anymore!

New more dastardly plan - no raises or pencils for three years isn't getting it, so the scammer takes money away - a negative raise - one that might leave them out in the cold dying of cancer! Plan - takes $35 a month of bread out of their mouth so the screams won't be muffled by food!

A BLS of 212.67 (Apr., 2009) / 189.1 (July, 2004) says inflation is up 12.5% over that period of time. If the 2009-10 school budget is $30,555,588 & was $22,401,759 back in 2004-5, spending increased by 36.4%! If we inflate the 2004-5 number by 12.5%, 2009-10 spending would be $25,201,978, not $30.6 million! Comparing one with the other absolutely (bad word?) says the scammers will spend $5.4 million more than the national inflated average in the single 2009-10 budget year.

And, you didn't get a raise for the past 3 years? Maybe you didn't scream loud enough. When the big boy tells you it was all mandated, demand an itemized list with dollars on it. If you get a list, you'll have a blueprint of the areas to be eliminated. When you're through, there will be more than enough to give you a fat raise, plus raises for other county workers who have been cheated by the tax $ hog, plus add a few million to restore reserves!

Can we add & subtract? The tax hog says you can't. Anger can be good, especially when you are being violated.

Point, As someone said, Mr. WAB pointed out to the budget committee that 2010 spending exceeds revenues! It's wrong & violates lots of rules & ethics, but this is the age of honey coated BS - avoids the absolutes.

There isn't going to be a tax increase, so - will the annointed one fertalize the roses, or the weeds again? When the weeds are smothering the roses, will he be back for a tax increase because he spent it all & there wasn't enough left to feed the roses?

Tisk, tisk, task. Can't leave the fan & mint julieup to weed the roses. Lots of fertalized & rich ground, just too many tall boy weeds sucking up the vitamins & moisture; & gettin all the sunlight - nothing left for the withering rose. Maybe the wild flowers will bloom.

We have a union & togetherness, representing all, including weeds & weeds have a right to flourish & survive too??? So, it's become the weeds & roses vs. the property owing gardener. Maybe it's time to plow the plot & start over - try raising rabbits?

Loretta Garner "The Finance Director" is the one who brought up about the county employees paying for the rate increase on their health insurance. This came to a amount of around $35.00 per month per employee. This does not include what their family coverage will increase too. County employees may have to take second job just to provide coverage for family, or just do without any coverage. This is awful when this is their only benefit, besides sick days. Commissioner Wendell Wilburn did not bring this subject up. He was not even at this particular budget meeting. People get on this blog and spew untruths too many times and try to confuse everyone.

Like I said, I WAS there and L. Garner said it was HER idea. Holt asked her if she thought it was the 'best' thing to do AND SHE SAID YES! Then the discussion went to school employees and trying to get them to pay $35 MORE for health insurance. (Weird the cc doesn't even know school employees have their OWN insurance!!) Holt told the cc the school employees are under another insurance plan and also a contract, as Graner did.....and so goes the 'story'. Screw the county employees and then go have some MORE fun by cussing out everyone on the ball field because you did not get what you wanted. Yep!! Real class or should I say a#@!!

As I understand it, Ms. Garner simply suggested that each employee pay $35.00 extra to OFFSET the rate increase of the existing group policy. That was an alternative to the suggestion made by some on the commission that the employees begin paying for their health insurance. Amother suggestion was to put the group policy out for bids. Bad idea.
I just wanted to clear up some confusion about the situation. County employees shouldn't have to foot the bill for what has and remains their only real benefit.

Theres another large benefit that county employees receive and that is the number of holidays each year. Many more than the usual 7 of folks in general industry. I believe the county holidays amount is 13 days each year.

The insurance policy is bid out. The policy comes through the state. I don't think that the county can bid out a policy and get a better deal than the state can as a group. The insurance is as cheap as it is because it is bid with the entire state of Tennessee. Sure the county can get a cheaper policy but you won't find one that will be as good, not if you are comparing apples to apples.

A school employee has their insurance paid by the county. If other members of their family are insured under their plan, the employee pays that.

Obama is going to add the price the county pays for employee's insurance to the employee's pay check and make them pay taxes on it as he thinks that is part of their salary.

Now I suppose obama will give it to the "pool room" gang and others who won't work and who don't even get out of bed til I have been on the job several hours! That amounts to a substantial tax increase for me, And I make far less than $250,000 a year. This clown will make clinton's tax increases look small by the time he is finished with us. CHANGE is all we will have left! And supposedly intelligent people voted for him, although the majority were uninformed and misunformed. So sad that we ALL have to pay for stupidity!

11/33 - insurance is part of compensation - part of salary, any way you want to put it, earnings from your labor!

The tax code allows employers to exclude the premium amount from taxable reported earnings.

Technically, an employer could include that premium as a deduction from wages just as if you received a prorata higher wage and paid the premium independent of your employer.

Example: What's the difference in 1. (taxable wages of $80 plus $20 paid for insurance) and 2. (100 wages with no insurance where you pay $20 for the same policy)??? (80+20=100 = same???

ans. TAXATION! - Income, employee & employer FICA, MEDICARE, Comp, unemployment, etc., etc. - on the top end of the tax bracket (from 80 to 100, not 0 to 20) HUGE $$$$$$ added to price of whatever you produce & sell or service. OBAMA POOR TAX!

If the employer pays the premium as a non wage benefit, the employee pays no tax on it, there is no employer FICA etc., & there is no employee FICA etc. - a huge tax difference on the very bottom of the wage earner pay scale! (employee/employer FICA etc = 15% plus taxable earnings at the top marginal bracket.)

What kind of low life scum would do that to bottom end wage earners (min wage, temps, clerks, & part timers who basically work for food - they GET HIT HARDEST!)

Obamalism & Demopublicans - why feed a snake?

Paid insurance provides the best value for employee and employer - also yields the least cost option for the consumer (price of goods & services), including the taxpayer.

Paid insurance in the absence of a stipulated value is a pivotal legal point. Sounds like the teachers union is sleeping under Obama's umbrella & going to wake up PG again.

7:22 American's DO NOT 'have to pay for stupidity (Obama)' IF American's will SPEAK OUT peacefully. Remember, senators and congress persons WANT to stay in office. So, if American's write, call, email their senators/congress persons about their DISSATISFACTION with the path America/Obama/Czarism is taking - THINGS WILL CHANGE SOONER THAN LATER! The trouble is, American's WANT someone else to DO the calling, writing, emailing; while American FREEDOMS are FOREVER lost to socialism, communism and obamaism - as the world looks on and laughs.

1049 - I wrote 1017 as a wake up call. Without involvement, we are not going to survive. It's good to read what you say - I call it positive & refreshing. Unfortunately, it requires more than passive calling, e-mailing, and writing (all of which at times can be mightier than the sword).

Clinton and Bush paved the way for the debacle we are in. When "globalised", we will realize there is no sovereignty, no Constitution, and no private ownership, as we knew it. If one reads The Constitution & Declaration of Independence in the context of our defined language (what it IS), we will realize there is little left of either covenant. We are in the times of Babel where texting, twittering, and relativism have burned the bridges between knowledge and history, leaving us lost to the drug of choice and the feeling of the moment. History says life will be very harsh when civility and knowledge are lost, especially where the Bible is banned from education!

The Giles County education system crisis is a much smaller mirror image of the nation. It's a scam best described as contrived crisis management. It's been laid out several times in this Blog, but even teachers with enough guts to do something are still falling prey to the $35 insurance take away, when there is millions that can be taken back, right under your nose. You didn't get a raise because you are the ideal hostage in a high stakes game to rip off the public! Go back & read the numbers - they're shocking! If you want a raise, go back and unravel the Jackson web of bureaucracy. There is more than enough for raises, restoration of reserves, and a tax cut! Because some have been taught that you can't call a liar a liar, there is no discernment between fraud and a job well done! When respectability is given a thief, all will aspire to be a thief! Life must be very unpleasant for the thief, or the thief will move in with you!

The union should be in there fighting for innovation, use of media, discipline, and accountability. Instead they are following the Bush - Obama doctrine of togetherness, equality, and numbness above the neck. Our mascot should be a lemming mounted on the back of a sheep. "Sheep" is used to carry lemming to the sea in comfort, so it can leap in the sea, refreshed & with both eyes wide open.

Yours is one of the more intelligent posts I've ever read on this blog. And what you say is true. While I vehemently oppose the arrogance of those who talk down to those perceived as their intellectual inferiors, it is so refreshing to read a post such as yours.
I too agree with you that teachers, among others, are simply pawns in a larger chess game that gravely concerns me. I am a combat veteran who loves this great country where people still remain, to a large extent, free. Globalism is a cancer on mankind, and socialism, thanks to obama, will be a plague for many years to come. I pity our grandchildren.
I think the real obstacle to affecting a good and lasting change is the powerlessness most people feel, even on a local level. We see the obama tax increases coming along with more government control. We see how teachers are mistreated and taken for granted. I talk to a lot of them, and I hear it from so many that they are just trying to hang on to retirement. Isn't that a shame? There's a definite morale problem. Perhaps a raise to at least offset the $35.00 increase (fleecing) would help a little bit. What do you think?
Again, yours is a great post!

You know what? I could care less what you think about my veteran status. I don't owe you an explanation and certainly don't need your approval. Furthermore, whether or not I shot at anyone is NONE of your darned business! Can you say the same of yourself?

Wab and the others I hate? Oh please; don't you have anything new to offer besides that same old worn-out charge? I despise arrogance, self-righteousness, condescension, and egotism as bad as anyone. But just because those people exhibit some or all of those traits does NOT mean that I hate them. So please try to come up with something a little more original than that in the future.

I believe those "parasites" might better be described as people who have the power the fault-finders want so badly and can't have. Perhaps they are the ones who should go somewhere else?

I would say MOST of the people who enter on this blog DON'T want power, they want change if the form of eithical fair play or REAL concern for the people of Giles County.

7:47 Also, I think it is SHAMEFUL to critize or belittle anyone who earnestly gave their time in service to the United States of America. Whether they stayed stateside or went overseas. One is not better than the other. Each person had a job. If the fulfilled their service to the USA with honor, then YOU should be grateful! I think your concept of peacefully standing up differes vastly from mine. I don't think beating people up in a public forum is peaceful, particularly when they are called names and accused of being dishonest. Do you? Would you write a congressman you disagree with and call him nasty names and accuse him of serious misdeeds? How would that promote peace? Sure, you could and should write, but not in that manner. That's always been my argument against those who do so locally.

Actually, on this blog, I think it's more like the kettle calling the pot black simply because the kettle thinks itself so much better and brighter than the pot.
And, I might add, it's not do as I say and not as I do on this blog. It's more like the kettle tells the pot that he can speak his mind freely as long as he agrees completely with the kettle.

844 This is a blog where you can pretend be whatever suits your ego. You are not a person who would ever "fight" for your country, your neighbor, or "the children". Instead of peacefully attacking corruption within, you defend it wherever it rears its ugly head!

"Shoot at" puts you in VW van, with long mangy hair, & wierd smoke rolling out the windows. You're probably Ms. Pity Pot imagining yourself jumping out of a fox hole, waving your rifle (upsidedown in one hand & a white sheet in the other - yelling let's negotiate)! Sometimes the enemy can't shoot, because they are laughing too hard!

Everything is OK with you because you have no morals, can't discern right from wrong, & love to get close to important people who flash other people's money.

Respect is something you earn. I don't have to run for office because we have a majority of leaders who have values & have idiots like you neutered into irrelevance!

I call a liar a liar & a thief a thief. You call them "sir" or "madam". Gee, "madam" - a word of many diverse meanings

Go back and read my post again. You are exhibiting some of those despicable traits.
Please do not talk down to me about my military experience. I proudly servd my country in war. I have seen guys my age die right in front of me. I have shot at the enemy many times and then wondered why. There were several occasions when I didn't expect to survive. But I did, and people like you want to make jokes about it? HOW DARE YOU to sit back on your pompous and egotistical laurels and attack me for that! If I had it to do all over again, I would.
When people like you try to be witty and wise, I have to remind myself that your freedom to behave as you do are made possible by vets like me! I could call you a low-down and nasty name as you did me, but I have a little more class than that. I wish you did.
I suggest that you go back and read my two posts above about the pot and the kettle? Think and make proper application. It takes courage.

To July 9, 9:05 from 8:52 It is better to use words and sign than guns and supression; was my point of 'peaceful' protest. However, like in the case of Hitler, some did a little many did nothing. From 8:52 to 9:05 Also, like 8:39pm - I call 'a liar a liar & a thief a thief' no matter who the person may be. However, remember there are may ways to say 'liar' and 'thief'. Like, obama and the deomcrap congress are raping America while ensuring the enslavement of our children and grandchildren in this land we call 'The Land of the Free and Home of the Brave'! Oh, and I don't mean anything racial by that comment. No race will be spared as the obamamites 'march to the sea' of supression and control!

It just might insite one to anger. Just remember, the only mind you can read is yours - I think?

There are serious problems in Giles County with representation---do our representatives really represent the majority of the voters or just the ones with the most money.

Discussions of problems even if some of it is whinning is the sign of a developing government for the people and by the people.

If you had Mr. Ruger next to your glass of prune juice, you could have stopped it at the door, then called to have the sheriff come to take pictures & call the morgue. Now, as for someone breaking into my house to plunder things I have worked for, he had better hope that I am not home. I will deal with that situation swiftly. I do not know if Mr. Barrett is a preacher or not, but he does have the right to voice his opinion, as does everyone else. I have not read anything that shows that he "thinks he is smarter than everyone, or that he is calling anyone ignorant. If you disagree with him, tell him why he is wrong and back it up with facts. A lying crook who steals a $10 wallet will get prosectured, beaten if he runs, and shot if he threatens! You'll call him a thief!

A lying government crook tells you a lie, takes a few million to waste, screws workers out of their wages to toss more money, and tells you more lies to convince you that you're really dukmb enough to buy crook's story. Nobody will prosecute because they think he is important, so what do you do? You agree that crook is important, send children to crook to learn how to be successful, and ridicule anyone else who calls crook corrupt!

Their point of view was hammer down on them and make them accountable. Again, individuals I did not know openly discussing their unhappiness with how our county is quickly going to pot. 7:31 You disagree with me? Why am I not surprised?! Do I care? Uh, no! It is the duty of any citizen who witnesses wrongdoing or have knowledge of it to report it. You say that with a condescending tone. What are we to make of that? Let me ask you a question. Would you be willing to divulge information if you knew of intentional wrongdoing towards our citizens if you had it and if it jeopardized your friendship with that party? Or, would you think only of yourself and that relationship and turn a blind eye? I am guessing that you will be noble and say that you would come forward. That is what you want us to all think. But, I don't sense that from you. You seem like the type of person who would let it continue for fear of the repercussions against you. Again, I am just making an observation. It just seems like no matter what proof anyone offers or what issues are discussed you have nothing but disdain for those who are willing to speak up. It just makes one wonder why you are such a staunch defender automatically. You don't know all things that go on in this county and many of the posts on this blog are several individuals with personal experiences. Are we to assume you are privy to everyone's personal experience? We know you can't be all places, all the time. So, why are you so willing to level criticisms so quickly towards others? To Wednesday, 7/22/09 - 7:31 "Don't have the luxury of posting our names on this blog."? How is it a luxury to be proud of what you say and what you believe in? How is it a luxury to take credit for your words, and responsibility for your actions? I know what you are going to say, I am being just as anonymous by using the name I use on the blog. However, the ones who know me will easily figure out that it is I behind that name, and they can release the name or not. That is their prerogative. I am not "hiding behind a name, I am laying it out there as a clue to be discovered. I am using my "nom de plume" if you will. But enough waxing poetic. You act as if your name will cause you grief if it is seen on this blog. Are you worried that you will be treated as badly as you have treated Mr. Barrett and everyone else on this blog who disagrees with you? You say that you have the right to free speech, but you are not willing to recognize that right in others. You hide behind the First Ammendment and the Bible and then use them as a shield or a club whichever suits your fancy at the time. You are so arrogant in what you say, yet you accuse others of the crime for which also are guilty of. Don't forget, when I introduced myself, I warned you that I was both arrogant and egotistical, therefore we are brothers in crime so to speak. Back to my rant. Your words are so venomous and yet so banal that there repitition is beginning to bore even the most devout reader of this blog. So bottom line, you can put up, or shut up. Identify yourself in some fashion or just sit on the sidelines and let some fresh ideas blow thru this blog and maybe shake up the powers that be.

Some people who post here are trying to support ideas that their employers would find very offensive and could result in negative results in their employment status if their identy was known.

Do you understand the term "undeserved retribution for acts of treason" which is what happens when some empolyers find out you have given aid and comfort to their enemies.

Without some inside information most of these blogs would have very little to discuss. If the cloak of anonymity could not be used then you might have a lot less to discuss, and some of us would be in the unemployment line.

So yes it is a luxury to be able to post under your own name for some people.

7/24/09 8:12AM However, what you have to say, has nothing to do with what any of the blogs are talking about. Therefore your anomymity is not needed and using your name is not a luxury. Also you give so little information about anything, what priceless gem do you have that could so cause you "undeserved retribution for acts of treason". Sorry, histrionics are no excuse. Please, pull the other leg next time.

I was just making a comment as to why others as well as myself have chosen to remain anonymous in the past. I and others that I know have made comments and given information that would set up retribution if our employers knew who was giving out that information. Some of our employers do not even want us to read the blog---let alone comments---since they are the subject of some of the blogs and memtioned in others.

No histrionics to it just feared retribution---since some of us have been warned (not individually but in a group, because so far those in authority over us have not managed to find out who is guilty)

Enjoy your freedom to use your name on your posts if you can.

By the way Real Deadman I don't see you using your John Q Public on here. Why not???

12:19 I am using my "John Q. Public" you just haven't figured it out yet. As for those who are threatening your free speech, that is a violation of your 1st amendment rights, and thats pretty much what this blog is about. I love the give and take the verbal parries and slashes. It is just the way I roll. I hope you are able to resolve that situation so that you can have a little more freedom of identity.

To 8:12 you state, "Some of our employers do not even want us to read the blog---let alone comments---since they are the subject of some of the blogs and memtioned in others. No histrionics to it just feared retribution---since some of us have been warned (not individually but in a group, because so far those in authority over us have not managed to find out who is guilty)"

It would be mighty interesting to know who specifically would be so low minded as to made these kind of threats. Since they were made in a group setting they could be identified anonymously without the revelation of the posters name.

I agree Allen. It is appalling to think that a department head in this county would think they can dictate what employees can and cannot do in their personal time. I am not surprised at all though. It is the strong arm tactics just like this that has caused fear and intimidation leveled at employees for years. Just like a person that keeps posting on this blog who doesn't agree with those of us who have less than positive opinions regarding some of our county officials. This person would love to have control over all our thoughts and opinions just because they differ from their own. Sad, sad.

Hey, the director and school board 'think' they can control the lives of their employees on and off the job. What a joke! Obama hasn't taken over yet and we are still governed by the U.S. Constitution. The problem is too many people whimp out and 'let' others control them. If ppl won't stand up for their rights, they deserve to be a floor mat.

soothsayer says:::::::
floor mats remain floor mats until they are worn out & cast aside.

one thing about "it" - if you accept it, wallow in it, & don't make it change & you are part of it.

what's worse - not forcing an honest environment or sitting back & whining in fear of what you know is comming?

you want a raise because inflation has stolen your purchasing power. you see a bootlicker get a big raise & promotion into a high paying job a chimpanze could do... you know what's required for financial suck-cess, but conscience keeps you off your knees. yes, it takes more than one - until one stands, none stand.

Satire works. If you see a donkey, the picture is a donkey. Laughter is power & laughter is happiness - tears are tears & fear is fear.

get your facts together (FACTS!). sift the sand from the pile & use the very few big rocks that remain...........
