Giles Free Speech Zone

The purpose of the "Giles Free Speech Zone" is to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand. Attack On Freedom Of Speech Narrowly Defeated in Commission Showdown.

This morning twelve defenders of the Constitution narrowly beat back the efforts of nine arrogant self appointed censors.
All this was done under the disguise of " for the public good". In other words these nine commissioners know what's best for everyone else. Oh, it was well stated by Commissioners Terry Harwell, Tommy Campbell, Edwin Lovell, Stoney Jackson, that "we don't want to stop anyone from speaking" we just don't want to hear them.
Thank God that people like Tommy Pollard, Connie Howell, James Harwell and Judy Lavianna were able to see through this veiled attempt to subvert the people's right to speak and were willing to speak out and lead the effort to stop this abuse of power.

The County Attorney presented her version of the resolution but failed to add anything about the requirements to file a written request prior to the meeting and having that request specifically address an item on the agenda as was originally requested by Commissioner Woodard who asked that committee meetings be conducted the same as the regular commissioner meetings which are so restrictive that they prohibit all but the most convenient of speakers.
Those voting to Prevent Citizens speaking in Committee Meetings were Commissioners Flacy, Jackson, Lovell, Woodard, Holt, Brown, L. Faulkner, A. Faulkner and T. Harwell.
Twelve patriots voted "NO" on this absurd abuse of power and the measure failed much to the dissatisfaction of Mrs Vanzant whose expression could not be hidden.
