Sam Davis Cost!!!!

At the last City Council Meeting WKSR reported that "Council members approved amending the 2008-2009 budget to include the estimated $3.5 million Sam Davis Park Renovation Project". Maybe I dosed off and missed the part where this project moved from an estimated cost of 2.5 million to 3.5 million. Are they inching their way back up to the four million dollars taxpayers were so opposed to? Allen Barrett

You hit it right on. Next thing mega bucks will be added for 'cost overruns' even in this time of builders scrambling for business when costs should be lower.

I'd like to know when fixing bleachers at the football field turned into a "Pulaski needs to renovate the WHOLE park". What idiots we have in public office! When money is tight, like it is to so many of us now,you fix what HAS TO BE and let the rest go until a sunnier day!! I don't know about anyone else, but I know my little "pot" at home is DRY! It's sickening to watch our tax payer $$ spent on foolishness, when ppl are not able to make ends meet. Will it ever stop?

Voting for this county charter will go a long way to helping things to stop. We've had enough. Something has to happen with our local governments, this is a beginning.

How do your spell INSANITY?

Can anyone think of anything more irresponsible & contemptable? It's not like spending money like like drunks on a binge - It's pure corruption & sock it to the public time!

Who is the beneficiary of this boondoggle?

You guys are on Tee Jackson all of the time. I think that Dan Speer should be the targeted! He is arrogant, egotistical, talks down to people and is unethical in my opinion. We all knew this was going to happen. I even asked him about it. All he cared about was getting the tax passed, then away he goes.

As far as economic development, Robert Barnes did a great job compared to him. Its time that that he justify his salary, step down, or be moved out!

The school buildings are falling apart. The new additions at Elkton, Minor Hill, PES and the new elementary at Richland are leaking water and the walls are showing serious cracks. Everytime it rains, there are NOT enough trash cans to catch the water leaks at Southside elementary. The sewer smell at Southside, by the cafeteria, just can't seem to get fixed for good. Giles County High School is a mess. Let me see, where does Giles County put their tax $$...Sam Davis Park!! We got to vote TWICE, because the citizens of Pulaski are stupid. Or so the city government believes.
What is MORE important to the future of Giles County? Well maintained school buildings or a beautiful football field?? Umh...you got it! Football!!

All the above comments are right on the mark. I knew it too that when Speer and City Administrator could, they would screw our eyeballs out! We will NEVER get out from under that high priced Sales Tax. Remember they promised when project was finished the Sales Tax could go back down to where it was before. Just another LIE! When are we gonna wake up and vote them all out.

759 & 128 - you have the finger on all of the GC & Pulaski problems in a nutshell!

What could be worse the Jackson?
What could be worse than the Spear, other than Jackson? Combined it's got more heads than anyone can chop off. Both need to GO!

We have a citizen of the year award.

We need a legitimat poll to establish who really is the worst.

648 = I think you are prejuicedid. If you ignore that Snydly Whiplash look the Spear has, I think you would have to agree that TJ is a head taller, thus he barely squeezes out the Spear. It's TJ by at least a nose.

Better yet, Dump TJ & no one else could come close to the Spear.

What a surprise? Seriously this town enjoys the bait and switch technique of what you get for what you pay for or elect. Here is a park that from the start many on here were questioning that sales tax would makeup for the difference. And, that these sales taxes would not be a burden on the citizens but come from all those tourist dollars. Furthermore, that the expense was justified for a park that serves the community and is a desirable expense. The people voted (albeit a weak turnout) and now in these times of economic downturn the amount is rising. No shock to me. Also, no shock that in the future all those who had to have it will blame someone else for the added fees.

I guess I fell asleep. I thought the only renovation was to get the bleachers at the football field up to code so they could be used. How did that turn into tearing down a block wall around the baseball field to be replaced with another BLOCK WALL? That makes absolutely NO sense!!More money spent by our local govt. that didn't need to be. Just like the walking trails. Thousands of dollars (our tax-payer dollars) WASTED!

I'll say stimulus! Speer needs to be stimulated right on out of office right along with Tee Jackson being run out of town. These two are two of the most wicked and uncaring individuals we have in place in our city and county government! Speer can be replaced if he doesn't run again and Jackson....well, his days are numbered. Seems he has no friends in Giles County anymore. Citizens have caught on to what he is all about. I say Goodbye to them both!!!

The pool of tax dollars is getting very shallow these days in this area and in those surrounding us. Look at foreclosures, unemployment, or better yet just look at your neighbors, church members,or your own family. Money is not flowing in any direction other than waste and jobs are not secure unless you work in the government. Voting out the mayor means nothing in the grand scheme of things. He still is the appointed and hired recruiter for industry with a fat salary and a contract. Even if he were voted out he has a second salary and job to fall back on. I am still baffled at how that came about and why? Anyone on the outside looking in would shake their head at this towns inability to stand up to poor leadership. Stop electing the same people who are not doing the job you voted them to do. Stop allowing your government to lead while you sit on the sidelines on your hands with mouths closed. If you do not like it get involved, get out there, get on the phone, and VOTE for change. Otherwise, I can only wonder if this suits the area and it is just whining?

I hear the recruiter is in Washington on a trip with Mr. Holcum of the electric system and lawyer Hoover. Am I paying for that trip? Either way yes. If its light company paying for trip then Im paying. If its from recruiter account tax money then Im paying. Does anybody know why they went and how much it cost. I heard one of the aldermman asked but got no answers. WAB can you find out this info and post it. Jut saw a story on good morning amer and they said rigth now is NOT a time for folks to be traveling and spending money. So why are out folks in Wash? and how much is the cost?

It seems the park is being done in different phases with each adding to the next but only being reported by separate cost not a total amount. Now the focus is on building a new parking lot. The 2.5 million has long been passed and five is getting closer and closer.
