School Director's Evaluation
At the School Board Meeting last night, 12 Feb. 2009, the evaluations of the School Director were presented. Unlike past evaluations where the "5's" and near "5's" were announced with some fanfare the latest evaluation was not announced at all. There was some discussion about the vagueness of most evaluated categories. I am in full agreement that a more specific means of evaluation is needed however the system available is the system that should be used until a better one is developed.
Listed below are the evaluation results, they are on a scale of 1 to 5 with one being the lowest. The name of the Board Member is listed with the average grade they gave.

I would like to know exactly what TJ is evaluated on. As far as how each board member voted,NOT a suprise!! 4right on the nose,one riding the fence and 2 that need to be voted out at election time!! Good job and a pat on the back to brd members Murrey,Glover,Turner and Story. Mr. green needs to stop riding the fence (pick a side and jump) and the other 2 are TJ's "YES" ppl. Could it be that Mr. Young wouldn't/couldn't give TJ a bad eval because his WIFE works on the hill and it is public knowledge how each member scored him? Good 'ole "you scratch my back,I'll scratch yours" looks like to me. My way of thinking is THAT is a direct conflict of interest. Think about it Giles County! We want changes but keep shooting our selves in the foot when we elect ppl! We as tax payers need to tell our elected officials,"You will run it(whatever office they hold) the way the taxpayers want it,OR we WILL vote you OUT at the next election!" Instead of moaning and groaning,we need to stand together and turn this county around before there's nothing left here but a ghost town full of concrete and bricks that WE paid for!! We HAVE to start with the schools,because the students today will be running this place in another 20 yrs. If we don't set the example NOW,can you imagine down the road a "mini-TJ" coming along? God help us!!
Jackson did not want the evaluation even put on the agenda. Mrs. Murrey told him it was going on the agenda. He then asked her for another chance at an evaluation. It was a decision made by the board to accept this evalution. As far as it not being dicussed there are grids done by Mrs. Murrey she would gladly give out to you. The evaluation is public notice and anyone can have a copy of the evaluation forms by all. He is embarrased and has finnally been evaluated by his worth. He was asked to wait for another format or more time for board members to get more information from him and it seems he chose his own fate. The board will hold his feet to the fire.
It's true we need to turn this county around because as it is the students who we expect to be running it 20 years from now won't be here. No jobs, no quality of life, will make them move to better places. And who could blame them.

JG, do yourself a favor and the people of Giles County - RESIGN from the board today!
Murrey, Turner, Glover and Story are the only board members with guts and ethics! Now let's see if these fearless foursome really make things better or just let this go. There seems to be BIG trouble in MOST of the schools; Minor Hill, Elkton, Pulaski Elementary and Southside Elementary. The board NEEDS to help the children of Giles County by standing up to tj and helping the teachers and aides he threatens, bullies and manipulates.

A big big thanks go to Ms Murrey and the other three school board members who are finally taking this situation in hand. We need to pressure our commissioners to buy T Jackson's contract out. It would be worth the couple of hundred thousand to get rid of him before he can do more damage in Giles Co schools. Although he's not one of my favorite people I'd rather see old Billy Holt in that position.
So why is it that people on one side of the extreme are ok, and people on the other side are worthless? Mrs Murrey has a vendetta because she was not hired by Mr. Jackson. She has tried to wheel and deal, and cut deal with Mr. Jackson for quite some time. If he had given into her requests, she would be giving good evalurations now. When will you begin to understand this?

The huge problem with TJ overshadows his incompetence - it's called corruption - to the bone. No need to pay him anything - fire him for cause - cause he can't, literally can't tell the truth! That is just cause at any level of an education system!

Mr. Jackson may be corrupt, but Mrs. Murrey is too. If she could get what she wanted, she wouldn't be so hard on him. Its public knowledge. She has tried to use authority to her advantage and it has not worked, so she will keep on using it. She is no different than those she opposes!

Some folks are forgetting Mrs Murrey ran for school board and was elected way before the Shirey job became open (then refilled by Shirey). Mrs Murrey was elected because of her pledge to bring change to the school board, she has done a good job and continues to do so. Thanks Mrs Beverly Murrey.

Mrs. Murrey knows the truth. Whether you like T. Jackson or not, and I know he can be deceptive, Beverly has tried use her position to advance. That is wrong. She is wrong, and she knows it.

My question has been the same for months now. Who would you replace TJ with if you are wanting to get him out? There has to be someone you have in mind. Who is it?
I don't have a replacement suggestion for TJ,but it should be someone that is NOT currently on the hill now! I'm of the opinion when TJ goes, they should ALL go! CLEAN HOUSE and start over. Get rid of a lot of costly positions that are not needed and restructure the pay scale board wide for EVERYONE.
I agree 7:57! My guess is Murrey will run for the position if it is put back to an elected position. The last thing we need is her as director. As great as everyone seems to think she is those of us who have personal experiences with her think otherwise. She has done a lot of talking and very little action. It has been 2 years now since she was elected and she ran her campaign on the fact that if elected she would work hard to get him out. Well, she has looked into things and appeared to be anti-TJ but, she has has had ample opportunity to hammer down on him and has left me feeling very disappointed. Problem is she is not as popular with other school board members as she may have hoped to be and that has left her falling short of getting enough votes to sock it to him. I have personally witnessed a bit of kissing behind from her on more than one occasion that has left me truly disappointed. Also, TJ pays numerous visits to school board members at their place of employment trying to woooo them persuade them to his way of thinking . My question is why do these school board member's supervisors allow TJ to constantly appear during work hours to visit them? If I was their boss I would tell him that he needs to speak with them regarding their roles as school board members on their own time and not during work hours. He has got to be stopped. He has been on so many occasions caught in lies and always slithers away unaccountable. Please if anyone can put the screws to him, do it soon! We have got to salvage what we have left of our school system and restore the morale with all of the school employees. There are so, so many injustices to these employees and they deserve a lot better!

Your pleas do not fall on deaf ears 11:36. There are many citizens aware of what is going on in our school system. My guess that is why Jackson keeps 2 residences. One in town and the other in Athens. So, on the occasions that he pisses the citizens off he has a safe haven and a place to go not to have to face us. His chickens are coming home to roost as the saying goes. I was in attendance of the most recent school board meeting and saw that panicked look on his face when they began to discuss his evaluation. Afterwards, he looked just plain ole' pissed. I personally found if funny but I am waiting for the day he is handed a cardboard box and told to pack your "s$#%" and get the heck out!!! This man could care less about the employees. Beginning with their pay all the way down to their benefits. Which is much of the reason people work in the school system. You are right the morale is horrible. I don't talk to one single teacher or non-certified employee that is happy with him. We all know he is out for one thing and one thing only "himself". Do you not know what it takes to remove a director. Four of the seven members have to vote to remove him. And thanks to previous boards, we would have to pay for those extension years granted to him by that (those) boards. Beverly cannot just get rid of Tee. Beverly Murrey is doing something Kathy Norman or Michael Gonzoles NEVER did as chair and that's LISTEN to the BOE employees! He went north for higher pay (smart man.....should have been a wake up call to voters) and Ms. N was a nurse at our local hospital ER...anyone have a clue what RN's make per hour? A lot more than US! WAKE UP - The DA handles criminal cases for prosecution, not breach of contract or non criminal acts. He could be charge tpo the grand jury for falsifying documents, etc.!, but the DA is apparently afraid of the state education bureaucracy. The DA has extreme power - right wrong or otherwise.
849, 941, 833, 815 - He can be fired on the spot by the board for cause - falsifying reports and statements, repeated public lies as published by the paper, etc. Those indiscretions and more are just cause to fire without criminal prosecution, for reasons of conduct malfeasance of office. As such it is his breach of contract & he is due NOTHING! He can bring suit in a court of law, but would be subject to a jury trial. His chance of winning a jury award would be less that getting hit by lightening in a snow storm!

Up until Aug. 08 the board seemed to be stacked in favor of everthing Jackson wanted. Since Aug. Murrey has not been the only NO on things. Since Aug. she has finally found people who are interested in getting things done right. Since Aug. she has been able to try and right some wrongs. How many of you mind readers know about the conversations she's had with TJ to set him straight. How many of you have seen documentation kept by Norman or Gonzales to hand over to her to continue to build a case. I don't think she has received anything from them and most likely is having to start from scratch. Mr. Barrett will tell you himself how far he got with the DA and so will Mrs. Murrey. Yes she talks alot but she hasn't talked enough for all of you to know exactly what she has talked about or trying to get done.
Did she apply for Shirey's job? Yes she did, but she didn't get it and if she tried to play the trump card I never heard about it, but it seems the blogger above knows more about what she thinks and says than she does. Cowards aren't payed much attention to and that person is a coward for trying to execute someone they think they know but don't. And those of you Bashing the Greene's God help you if they find out who you are. More than likely they won't waste their time on troubled, jealousm,ignorant people, but will feel sorry for you.
Give the four board members something to work with besides accusations and they might have something to work with. Go to board meetings and stand up for what you believe in. Have documention of what you have. And if you think it will hold up in court then the board most likely will take it and run. Jackson is th;e most intelligent of all. He sets people up to take the blame, he rocks on the fence and balances, never to fall either way and he bullies those he can. So if you can give hard core evidence get it to the right board members or shut the hell up.
Question: If jackson would take buying out his years would you rather buy him out at $273,000 and let him take all the money to Athens or wait and see what the board can accomplish within the next few months.

Insist on termination & zero pay!
Does anyone believe there is no state law against falsifying formal financial records? Look it up! The smoking gun is in state sales tax for several years back as presented in the budget documents used for school funding requests.
Prior year actual receipts have been known prior to budget funding approval. Huge demands were made for unnecessary tax increases. Although tax increases were denied by slim margins thanks to a slim majority of good commissioners, the falsified requests resulted in false favorability in budget performance of TJ! It's a huge can of worms, far greater than just sales tax.
The board NEEDS to get some guts and sock it to TJ! They have him worried. Now they need to make him turn tail and run, not walk, back to Athens!

You obviously do not understand the bid process. Murrey Chevrolet couldn't even bid due to conflict of interest. Just like when Charlie Greene was a county commissioner. He could not submit a bid on anything as long as he was on the county commission due to conflict of interest. Doesn't have to do with whether or not Beverly is corrupt or not because it isn't her decision only when bids are awarded and therefore could never be a decision made solely by her. Your point isn't logical.
The school system has not gotten any new vehicles in a long time. The maintenance vehicles are from the state leftovers. The driver's ed cars are the newest and I don't know if the school system actually purchases them or not.
Pray tell, what is the difference between Murrey not being able to bid, when the schoolers vote for more money every time TJ demands it! Don't disagree with you - point is, several are legally compromised.

If teachers, support staff, principals and all others connected to school system could evaluate the Director of Schools what would some of the questions be they would want to answer.

As a parent, when was the last time the Director asked you your opinion of the Giles County educational program?
Have you ever spoken to the Director about a school related problem? How did you feel about the outcome?
The paper contained the suggestion that TJ's evaluation basis would be changed next year to reflect plans & objectives, etc.
They are good thoughts & should be done. However, the evaluation should begin with a core premise of honesty and integrity. If the evaluator can't get beyond "no" at that point, the evaluation ends there with zero! If you can't get past that point, nothing else matters because you can't trust it.
A plan is no better than the data in it. If the numbers are falsified (padded to look good) you have a liar who needs to be fired. The written data is incredibly easy to verify. It is hard to believe a board of education can't find the writing on the wall.
The paper and radio were wrong. Mr. Jackson did not meet expections. He scored below that meaning he is in area of focus.

Also, when is the 'paper' ever 'right'? In the same article about TJ it said Karen Moore talked about a letter she received from TJ. Karen Moore DID NOT receive the letter from TJ, Bridgett Weisser received the letter from TJ and Yvonne Brown. Allen Barrett said he thought both letters were awful to send to a professional employee of the board, AFTER Karen Moore spoke. It seems the reporter at the board meeting can't get her facts straight.

The board cannot finalize business at a work session. When did the board vote to give TJ $10,000 per year with a two year extention to his contract? Was it at the last board meeting?
Someone is trying to start trouble. I am sure TJ's contract was not extended. It cannot be done at a work session. Does anyone really believe that this board would do that anyway. I think the board is stacked against him now.
No raise, no extension, and no voting can ever occur at a work session. People need to come to business meetings of all county gov. to get their facts straight. Thus far he should go home in 2011 unless someone can come up with evidence that will hold up in court. If not then as the saying goes "put up or shut up".

Young makes the same in the classroom or out. She is doing a very valuable job. The state and federal is requiring so many new reports and programs that someone has to do. I am in the schools and see the benefit of her job. Her daughter got tenure because she had qualified to do so. Mr. Young is not a yes man, he had disagreed with several things that Jackson wanted. Could someone please bring a dictionary to the board mtg tomorrow night. I thought I knew what the word, "prohibited" meant, but apparently I was wrong. I would like to have that discussed and explained to me, as well as the gcboe. They have a definitive policy that does not say, possiblly prohibited, may be prohibitive, or even should be prohibited. It says, strictly prohibited; How many way can that be interpreted? The libel case is far from settled, and in the news a few weeks ago, a private citizen won a slander case against a public entitiy. The award was $5,000,000.00. Yes, 5 MILLION DOLLARS; Not how I want my tax $$$ spent, how bout you guys? Although, if it was my name that was dragged through the mud, I think I would deserve that much in damages. Does anybody know exactly the worth of a good name and the price of a pound of integrity these days in Giles County?

A lot 0f the teachers think that this whole situation should have never left the school principal's office. But if it did it should have been handled by the man who is being paid a mighty lot of mega bucks to be aggressive and decisive in protecting the school system, the students and the teachers.
If the main two childish teachers involved could not be made to conform to the rules, they both should have been told to hit the road. Their actions show a blatant disrepect for the rules for Internet use that have been in place and accepted by the teachers of Giles County since the beginning.
None of these teachers would have allowed their students to behave in such a disrepsectful way.

I can almost see the cartoon in my head. The wab hound is on a tree howling as loudly as he can. I look up into the tree and find that the wab hound has "treed" more than just one.
