Just Who Is Costing The County Money?????

Well it seems that, if you believe everything you read, the county is almost bankrupt because of me.
The newspaper reported that the County Attorney Lucy Henson, has billed the county $16,638.00 for defending the county in a lawsuit filed by me, “an unsuccessful 7th District County Commission Candidate in 2010”.

Boy was I shocked to learn how much the County Attorney had charged the county and then to learn that the County Executive Janet Vanzant the former director of the Senior Citizens Center that lost so much toilet tissue and food under her leadership, believes that it will require hiring another attorney to assist Ms. Henson because of the appeal.

As I total up the cost of my defense against the incompetent, illegal and abusive behavior of the Election Office I am amazed that my attorney charged so little. You see my attorney charged me $150.00 an hour his fee was just at $9,000.00, but he did travel from Columbia several times, then another $2,000.00 for an expert witness, filing fees, subpoenas and such the cost was just over $11,000.00 dollars on an itemized bill. Because there is basically nothing that can be added in the appeal process there is really very little cost other than the administrative matters which I have to pay. Certainly nothing that would require an additional attorney, unless of course that additional attorney might be Mr. Williams who defended Mrs Coleman at no cost as was been reported.

Hummmm, at $150.00 an hour that means Mrs. Henson spent about 110 hours on my suit. Wonder if she has submitted an itemized bill for her services?

Some questions that come to my mind as I ponder this matter; Ms. Henson is paid $40,000.00 a year to handle county business has she really exceeded that amount on other matters of county business. I realize her standard response to very question is “I have to research it”. Heck, she’s been researching the question of the illegal action taken by Mrs Vanzant in overriding the County Commission decision about the distance rule to sell alcohol for over a year now.

I’m sure it took a lot of time dealing with the order that came down from the State Attorney General that the county had to alter their distance law or face legal action.
I wonder since, in court, under oath Mrs Bassham admitted to a number of very serious “errors and mistakes” that led to this lawsuit if she has receive any type reprimand or given any reprimands to she staff? I mean after all had her office fulfilled there duties properly and responsibly there never would have been a suit to file.

I wonder why there has been more embellished exaggeration from the County Executives office about my cost to the county than about Mrs Vanzants cost to the county, after all the county didn’t have to pay me $70,000.00 for racial discrimination against Mrs. White or several million spent on the jail mess over none existent dangerous mold, and I haven’t even heard anything about what she cost the county in mishandling the Hunter Smith Building. Will I guess she just don’t want to brag about her accomplishments.

Oh, for the folks who were so critical of this lawsuit, as Judge Jones stated to Mr. Williams in court, “this is no frivolous lawsuit so you can forget throwing it out”, the lawsuit I filed was not by my choosing but was forced on me by a government and individuals who refused to follow the law or respect the basic rights of citizens.

What a shame! Always some excuse or reason to blame someone else for your actions. I can only sit and shake my head at how sad this really is. To say that the "suit wasn't filed by your choosing" sounds just like the liberal logic you preach against. Such a hypocrite.

I also want to let people know that the finance director called to let me know that she was mistaken about the insurance salesman being banned from Kentucky. He is actually only on probation for some questionable dealings. His next reprimand gets him banned. I guess that makes it all better. I will provide his name when I get home. I have it written down there.

They are trying to delay the vote on the wheel tax so that it can be explained to the citizens. The finance director balanced the Highway Department budget but it came with a big reduction in the service that Barry Hyatt can provide. It will also include layoffs that will raise county unemployment numbers. When your road gets bad, don't blame Barry Hyatt, blame the commissioners who wouldn't vote to properly fund the department.

Thanks,
DAW

Yes Barret cost the county money but so has Janet Vanzant. But we can't blame her can we. It's so easy to place blame and act perfect.

Janet Vanzant and her antics have cost us more than anyone realizes and none of her close supporters are willing to admit this. It's much easier to turn the blind eye and point the finger in another direction. Seems DAW is leading the way in continuing to sow discord on this blog. If only he knew as much as he "thought" he did. Sometimes lessons are hard learned. The excellent thing about this public blog is every word is recorded and can be called on later. So, everyone be mindful of what you say because it can most definitely come back to haunt you.

Has anyone ever read the Marshall county blog? I'm shocked at things I see on there, so we're not the only one.

I am discussing the topics and giving information that I receive from people in government. If people want asnwers, I will try and get them. I don't just spout off a bunch of nonsense that is made up. I have gotten so tired of hearing people complain, and it seems to always be the same people, that I decided I would post on here to help make sense of it all. I have no worry that anything I have posted will come back to haunt me. Trying to scare me out of here isn't going to work.

What a shame that you have so little knowledge in comparison to opinion. Have you never been forced to do something that you would have preferred not to do but it was the only reasonable means left to deal with a situation? I would have much rather have reasoned with Bin Laden than shoot him but because of his actions and attitudes he left no other choice but either kill him or be killed by him. Sometimes the decisions of others force you to make choices of necessity. Regardless of the circumstances I am responsible for the choices I make and I have not used anyone to relieve myself of those responsibilities. One thing you should know about me by now is that I make a very reluctant victim.

Once again you make reference to the insurance man as though you have knowledge of him and his situation, but the truth is you only know what Mrs. Garner and Mrs. Vanzant are feeding you.
I challenge you to produce one piece of paperwork that proves the accusations you and Mrs. Garner have made about this man.
Here is one bit of information for you to consider while you “sit and shake your head”. The agent you speak of does a huge insurance business through the Tennessee State insurance pool, I guess you overlooked that information in the previous post, and the only complaint that has been filed against him is the one filed by none other than Mr. Jimmy Alsup whose complaint was used by the school system and county to justify them moving the insurance into Mr. Alsup’s agency. Now, don’t you find that interesting? I guess everyone is still waiting for you to name this agent, I certainly am?

As for getting answers from county officials it’s like walking into an ice cream store and asking what the price of the ice cream is, you get a really easy answer, but try walking into that same store and asking what the ingredients are that the ice cream is made of and see what the answer is. You see you asked for the price and I and others have asked for the ingredients and that’s why we are treated differently.

As of this morning the wheel tax was still on the agenda for Monday’s meeting and the only reason it will be pulled is if they determine they don’t have enough votes to pass it.
Once again you show a lack of understanding about the budget. Mrs. Garner takes the budget from the different departments then tries to combine them into a completed budget. Each department determines what is important to them and sets their budget. As I have stated before the Highway Department has shown more fiscal responsibility than most as Mr. Hyatt actually did cut his budget each of the last few years while other departments claimed cuts but actually increased their budgets. An example of this is the County Executive who claimed she cut her budget 10% but the actual numbers showed a big increase over what she claimed, same for the Commission and some other departments.

I find it interesting the finance director makes personal calls to you when other people needing to do business with her find her 'unavailable'.

If the Highway Dept budget has been balanced including layoffs, so be it. There should be many more layoffs within county government to bring this problem of lack of funds under control.

As to asking YOU to find out anything about county government, it would be foolish to make such a request. You have too many erroneous postings already. Couldn't trust your answers.

Why the need to delay the vote on the wheel tax so it can be explained to the citizens? Dont make any difference as it is a resolution to do a private act, which takes away the voice of the people. Everyone interested has read this resolution would give the funds to the highway department but all opposed to a wheel tax feel its time every county department tightened their belts even if it do mean layoffs.

His name is John Evans.

Who forced you to file the lawsuit? You know, there seems to be a lot of bashing today. I am going to brush it off because I know that when you put your NAME out there people start getting upset. When someone posts under anonymous it doesn't seem to carry as much importance. People start listening when someone has enough about them to post there name. I will be wrong sometimes as will WAB and everyone else who talks about politics. I will stand behind every word that I say on here. I will admit when I have been wrong and I will apologize when it happens.

I suspect that if I told you the sky was blue, you would say you didn't trust me.

I wish you would start a thread about "who is costing the City money??" I live inside the city limits and I want to know if my tax dollars are being spent on the city's attorney fees for this doctor's lawsuit. Someone with the city should come forward and make a public appearance to inform the citizens about all the lawsuits that the police department is and has been involved in. We deserve answers!!!!

I have made comments about WAB and John Evans. I hope you went to the websites that I provided to read about Evans. I am actually having a grown up discussion with WAB under another topic. I plan to meet him for coffee one morning so that we can get to know each other better than what our words on here say for us. The other names mentioned were used only as reference that were given by someone else and none were derogatory. You keep using the terms arrogant and condescending in all of your posts that have no dispute to what I say. You have to realize that most of what I have said has been told to me as fact. Where have you discussed a single topic? Why do you keep attacking me rather than debate the topic?

DAW Would you comment on the police officer and the doctor deal?

I wasn't there so only know what I've heard on the grape vine. Either one of them could of been arrogant as far as I know.

What about Vanzant not wanting the lady talked to about the job for FD.

What about Jackson and the chairman of school board not letting Barrett talk? To me if they had let Barret talk and then went on with their plans could of saved money also talked to the lady about the job would of saved the county money.

It seemed like hiding something or I'm the one elected and will do as I please. Talking never hurt anybody like you are going to talk with Barrett. But I would like to be there when you talk with WAB and have a water gun to squirt the person that got mad. Could be two wet men or two good gentlemen.lol

The only thing I know about any of that is hearsay, other than reading about Chad and the doctor. I feel I shouldn't comment on 2 of the 3 questions. I know that Chad and his brother have jobs serving the community, and I respect that. People in their line of work shouldn't be biased or have a prejudice against anyone. I think a $10 million lawsuit against the city speaks of the doctors character. I don't really trust anyone that would do that. I think all of the cops involved would have been fired if it all went down the way she said it did. I also know that Justin Young is about as good a person as you will ever find.

Hearsay the whole thing about the Finance Department and the school thing are very well documented public records. Wonder why you don't want to talk about factual things but have opinions on things that are still unsettled like the Doctor. After the city pays guess you want talk about that either.
Since you "don't trust anyone that would do that" file a lawsuit, just what would you do if you were falsely arrested and publicly humiliated, get your gun and go after them or take a more civil approach and use the law to provide accountability?

I said all that I know about them is hearsay. I haven't looked at the public records. I guess if I take the time to do that, then I would be willing to comment. But I think they are old news and I don't care to waste time on it.

The Doctors lawsuit is current news. To me, it is worth discussing. So you think that a $10 million lawsuit shows any type of civility? She claims defamation of character, but I think she has done more harm to herself and her business by filing this suit. Wasn't there an audit that found the policemen had done nothing wrong? I thought I read it somewhere? I am not sure about it, but I figured you would know.
