Think Voting Machines Can't Be "Fixed"?

This is reposted from the Washington Times Newspaper

Chicago-area voting machine casts Republican candidate’s vote for Democratic foe
By Jessica Chasmar - The Washington Times - Tuesday, October 21, 2014
A Republican candidate for the Illinois state legislature was shocked to learnpastedGraphic.png Monday that the vote he cast for himself at a Chicago-area library was erroneously cast for his Democratic opponent.
“While early voting at the Schaumburg Public Library today, I tried to cast a vote for myself and instead it cast the vote for my opponent,” Jim Moynihan said  “You could imagine my surprise as the same thing happened with a number of races when I tried to vote for a Republican and the machine registered a vote for a Democrat.”

Mr. Moynihan is challenging Democratic incumbent state Rep. Michelle Mussman in the 56th District House race. He said he also tried to vote for fellow Republican Larry Kaifesh in the 8th Congressional District race, but the vote was again cast for the Democratic opponent, U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth, The Daily Herald reported.
Mr. Moynihan said he brought the error to the attention of a judge, who determined the machine hadn’t been calibrated correctly.

Jim Scalzitti, deputy communications director for the Cook County clerk’s office, said the machine in question was removed from service to be re-calibrated immediately and that there were no other reports of voters having similar problems.

Are you still trying to blame the local election commission for your own failures? I'm just asking.

Let's see ... something illegal happened in Illinois. Therefore, the same thing is happening in Pulaski. There must be some sort of cosmic connection between the two cities. Hey, I heard something illegal happened in some other places, too. Are they, also, happening here?

Sounds like when Barrett posted all he did about the early vote totals being leaked. Then we learn they were not and the matter was dropped. Much ado about nothing.

I don't know Allen Barrett or know if what he post is true or not. No one will post a different side about what Barrett post. But they sure do act like little children and attack Barrett. Makes a person wonder what kind of people lives in Giles county. Will they grow up?

When I read this thread, I thought that is in Chicago and I'm not surprise at anything they do there.
Doesn't mean it could or does happen in Giles county. To bad people can't understand in some big towns, voter fraud does go on. Here most people know the ones coming in to vote. So not likely to happen. Most people know if a dead person is trying to vote. Big towns no one knows who's dead or alive.

People stop and think "am I acting as bad as I accuse Barrett of doing?" We are watched and judged in other counties. it may not bother you what other people think of Giles county buit does me.

UPDATE: Polk County woman indicted on 6 counts of voter fraud
Posted: Oct 21, 2014 10:48 AM CDT
Updated: Oct 21, 2014 12:37 PM CDT

A months-long investigation into alleged voter fraud in the August general election in Polk County, Tennessee has resulted in a six count indictment against Jo Ann Cronan.

In a news release issued by Stephen D. Crump, District Attorney General, the state alleges that Cronan paid individuals for their vote, bribing those individuals for their vote in violation of state law, according to a news release from District Attorney General's office.

Agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, along with Investigator Rockholt served the arrest warrant from the Criminal Court of Polk County to Cronan. She was then was placed in custody and transported to the Polk County Justice Center.

“For too long, this sort of criminal activity has been accepted as part of life in Polk County,” said District Attorney General Crump. “It will no longer be tolerated. Every election cycle this office will be proactive and aggressive in prosecuting those who seek to influence the outcome of elections by illegal means. This is just the first prosecution to come from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation's current investigation. Further evidence will be presented to the grand jury in Polk County.”

Still underway is another TBI investigation into illegal activities related to the August general election in Monroe County.

“I anticipate that evidence will be presented to the Monroe County Grand Jury in the very near future as well,” said Crump. “I want to thank the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation as well as Calvin Rockholt for their hard work on this case. A person who would buy a vote is not serving the interests of a political party. They have a dangerous desire for power and control and ultimately, only serve their own selfish interests. Those who would try to buy an election should take note and recognize that we will be watching and waiting.”

Just because you don't know about something doesn't mean it don't exist.

this From The Patriot
If you thought that Obama’s 2008 election just didn’t seem right, it turns out you were on to something. At the end of last month, two Democratic officials from Indiana were arrested and convicted of ballot fraud. It appears that Obama truly wasn’t eligible to be on the ballot.
Chairman Butch Morgan Jr. from St. Joseph County was convicted of felony conspiracy to commit petition fraud and forgery. Dustin Blyth, who served on the Board of Elections, was charged with felony forgery and several counts of making a false petition. Both men were charged and convicted for submitting fake names and signatures on petitions that were designed to get Obama and Hillary Clinton onto the 2008 primary ballots. Morgan seems to have been the driver of the actions.
County Sheriffs have uncovered that many locals of St. Joseph county appeared on the petitions, although they have sworn they never signed them.
Unfortunately, the case wasn’t brought to the court until 2011, when Lucas Burkett of the Board of Registration decided that he felt too guilty to continue carrying the secret. Authorities determined that had the criminal action not taken place, Obama probably wouldn’t have appeared on the ballot in St. Joseph County.
What do you think should be done about the fraud?

Voting machines that switch Republican votes to Democrats are being reported in Maryland.

“When I first selected my candidate on the electronic machine, it would not put the ‘x’ on the candidate I chose -- a Republican -- but it would put the ‘x’ on the Democrat candidate above it,” reported Donna Hamilton.

“This happened multiple times with multiple selections. Every time my choice flipped from Republican to Democrat. Sometimes it required four or five tries to get the ‘x’ to stay on my real selection,” the Frederick, Md., resident said Thursday.

Queen Anne County Sheriff Gary Hofmann said he encountered the problem, too.

"This is happening here as well. It occurred on two candidates on my machine. I am glad I checked. Many voters have reported this here as well," Hofmann wrote in an email Sunday evening.

Two other Maryland voters reported the same in Anne Arundel County on Friday.

A similar vote-switch turned up in Chicago earlier in the week.

Republican state representative candidate Jim Moynihan went to the Schaumburg Public Library on Monday to vote for himself. “Instead, it cast the vote for my opponent,” Moynihan told Watchdog.org.

“You could imagine my surprise as the same thing happened with a number of races when I tried to vote for a Republican and the machine registered a vote for a Democrat,” Moynihan said.

He notified the election judge at his polling place and demonstrated that it continued to cast a vote for the opposing candidate’s party. Moynihan was eventually allowed to vote for Republican candidates, including his own race.

Back in Maryland, two voters in Anne Arundel County experienced the same problem: A Diebold touchscreen voting machine switched their Republican votes to Democrats. The voters had to cancel theirs votes and start over.

Joe Torre, election director in Anne Arundel, called it a “calibration issue” involving a single machine.

Hamilton said she notified officials of the problem she encountered at the Frederick County Center, where she voted. “I’m not sure what was done about it. If someone is not paying close attention, they could end up voting for the wrong candidate,” she said.

Sometimes the machines haven't been serviced right. Look at the Florida machines when Al gore was running for president. they hadn't been cleaned and the tabs couldn't be punched right.

Telling about this doesn't mean it happens in Giles county, just that it can happen. Something everyone needs to think about. Sometimes people go through in a hurry and don't pay attention if their vote is what they choose before ending the vote.

Voter fraud does happen in some places.

"North Florida absentee ballot fraud case unravels for prosecutors
BY STEVE BOUSQUET
04/12/2013

The state’s case alleging absentee ballot fraud in a North Florida county continues to crumble as a judge has dismissed all 17 counts against a former supervisor of elections.

Leon County Court Judge Augustus Aikens Jr. threw out all misdemeanor charges Thursday against former Madison County elections chief Jada Woods Williams, making her the seventh of nine defendants in the case to be cleared of wrongdoing."

Because a crooked judge dismisses charges doesn't mean they were not guilty.

Recently a judge ruled that the IRS, which clearly had abused their power and harassed citizens in order to alter the vote in favor of President obama, would not be held accountable for their crimes because they had have released stopped committing them.

Look at how many judges have released child molesters with extremely light sentences and how many have worked the system to benefit their friends.

Hatfield was the dunce of the council and could not function without whispering and texting to Baddour. What did Hatfield accomplish 00000! Dunce Award! Go Home ...to the Elks Club!
Baddour is the King idiot of the council, immature written all over his arrogant face . Harwell is simply going to vote against anything Mayor Ford does. Mayor Ford... I am God! Thank Goodness for PIKE!

Hi Johnny, I don't like the things Barrett does, but the ones that hate him so are just as bad as he is.
I just read the blog to see if Barrett has something that is going on in Giles County we need to know. lately there hasn't been anything worth reading. The haters are at it no matter what it it is.

Have you ever wonder why the one some call, enabler and some call him/her CG, want ever try to prove what Barrett said was wrong.
I always hope to see if what Barrett said was wrong, but it never happens.

He has told us a few things going on we wouldn't of known. I know that really upset some.

Seems last threads Barrett didn't post anything worth reading.

Barrett's biggest problem is than he has very poor people skills and often doesn't understand how rules and regulations are implemented. So therefore, he's generally a pain in the ass because of these faults. He does however bring certain things to the forefront for discussion until the thread goes to hell.

I vote for him as often as I can. He'd be an interesting compliment to the people currently running the show in Giles County.

I agree and disagree with your assessment 11:28. But most of the problem is you have a lot of people in our local governments, city and county, who do not follow the written rules and procedures and get offended when it is brought to the attention of the public by Barrett or anyone else. It is not that he does not understand, it is adopted written procedures are often violated and misrepresented to the public to keep Barrett or other un-favored citizens from entering any public remarks on record. Look at the election office. Barrett could not get a strait answer as to which edition of Robert's Rules they were using. The people who are supposed to know don't know and act like children and openly attack any citizen who questions them. I have been in committee meetings where I saw Barrett present to a commissioner the states requirements, in regards to budgets, which conflicted with how the budget had been calculated and presented. The Cmsr. said he had read the same thing. However I watched as that commissioner sat quietly when Barrett tried to bring it to the attention of the board and was openly attacked by members of the commission. It was promoted to the public Barrett was an idiot, when in fact any true idiot could read the state specifically had stated rounding numbers was not compliant in calculating the budget. But when members of councils or commissions have personal agendas, any citizen who opposes their actions will get labeled and ridiculed. That is the Pulaski and Giles County way. It has been that way for 200 hundred years and it will stay the same way for the next 200 hundred years.

I just feel the majority of the citizens know him for what he is, and that is a troublemaker with a loud mouth and a very bad attitude. Yes, every county has a few and we have to deal with it. Enabler,
What is really sad and pathetic is your pretense that you are not the enabler. All you have to do is post your real name. That will be proof enough. So nice lie, I mean nice try.

You go ahead and play the sheep led around by the nose and vote because of what others have told you and I will vote my conscience based on what I know and have personally witnessed. If I were to believe what I had heard about Barrett in the community, mostly from government officials, as opposed to judging him based on what I have witnessed and know, then I would probably have voted for someone else. So go ahead and post your proof, which is your real name, and I will be happy to post my real name right back. I don't expect it to happen because I had this exact same exchange between the enabler when it was making statements I knew to be false.

Johnny, Why did you just start posting after the August 2014 election? I think that is why so many think you are cg.

Did you live in Giles county when WAB got arrested at the school board meetings years ago? I've thought that is why WAB acts like he does. If they had given him his three minutes and went on with their business I don't think WAB would of been like he is today. That's guessing because all I know about him is what I read. No one ever post why he is wrong just attacks him. That leaves me to think what he post about Mrs. Vanzant and others is true.

Wake up!

It is rare that anyone questions the validity of WABs statements or comments. The reason that he is treated the way he is, and the reason that very few listen to him, is becaause he comes across as a pompous ass.

I was at a commission meeting one time when the commission voted to allow him to speak. After they did, he ridiculed them and called them names for 10 minutes. The next time that there was a vote to allow him to speak, guess what happened. I would not have voted to allow either.

It's not what he says, it's how hes says it.

He will never be effective, because he has blown it. He has his few sheep.

12:54 You are indeed correct. Mr. Barrett used his allotted time to attack commissioners instead of addressing the matter at hand.

Similarly, when he was invited by the Democratic Party to participate in its candidate forum, he ran out of time to address issues, because he spent it attacking his host.

As a minister of the Lord having lost his preaching assignment, he now resorts on here to attacking the entire Church of Christ denomination as arrogant.

So, yes. You are correct. Any message broadcast by this bitter little man is wholly lost by his choice of delivery.

He did strongly criticize the outrageous and libalous ad East Hill ran in the newspaper last year and I as a Church of Christ member was fully in support of what he said because East Hill is a vicious mean spirited organization that gives the church a bad name. They are a divisive and arrogant bunch of hypocritical sheep being led by a fool.
I was at the Candidates forum held at GCHS. Barrett did run out of time as did most of the speakers but he said nothing about the hosts of that gathering only comparing the positions on abortions held by the democrats as opposed to his position of opposing abortions for convenience.

Barrett didn't lose his preaching position he retired after getting fed up with the underhandedness of church politics. He is a man of integrity that I have seen proven many times ver.

It seems that the ones who attack Allen are satisfied, for whatever reason, with the status quo. I have yet to see where anyone has shown that what he says is incorrect, only that they don't like it. That is a vast difference in the two. The truth is not always pleasant, but it is the truth nonetheless. I don't always agree with his opinion on certain matters, but I have yet to find where the facts he states are incorrect. Neither have I seen where anyone else has proven him wrong in that respect. Until you can prove the man wrong, you are only coming off as petulant children who who have no other recourse than to attack the messenger. You and others continuously attack him openly and without showing any factual proof of what you say. And when statements have been made, like in the case of the EDC spending, and election offices, such as co-mingling of funds, threats, attempts to censor the content of speech, etc. the excuses given are not in support of actual invoices or other tangible proof received from those offices and posted by both WAB and some from those offices.

What he is proposing about immigration is unconstitutional and against the will of the people, but he doesn't seem to care. I think he puts the welfare of his party ahead of what's best for our nation. It seems obvious to me that he wants to convert illegals to voters who will also vote Democratic and view the government as the umbilical cord of freebies and handouts. In addition, these illegals will be taking jobs away from the working poor the moron has sworn to protect. The most shocking thing I have experienced is how so many blacks even to this day defend him and keep saying he is unfairly blamed for our problems. Barack Hussein Obama is the worst president we have ever had, and I'm not so sure that we can survive two more years of him.

Barrett has proven that the news people in this town refuse to report on important things in order to protect their big wheel buddies. Have you read anything about the 911 director abusing his power and sexually harassing workers or lawsuits against Dan Speer and his attorney or the big pay offs the county and city have made recently.
WAB don't bend down to the big wheels and that makes him their enemy and their bunch of enablers do their dirty work of attacking him but the fact remains WAB is the only source for any news about what's actually happening and so far no one has proven him wrong which is more than I can say about his enemies.

Who is to say she wouldn't have been elected if she was only running against one other person? Your annoyingly repetitive statement isn't very logical. People that like the other 2 candidates voted for them and they both received less votes than Vanzant. I would say that she beat them rather than more voting against her. There is no way to tell if she would have been beaten in a head-to-head election because those votes would have been split between 2 people, one way or another.
