When the County Executive angrily states that she will not answer a question because it's from a "mere" citizen, it seems that County Executive has moved from a public servant to a master of the public.
Many are the times when the County Executive simply ignored questions from the public or simply dismissed them with some superficial buck passing or a scowl that made her irritation more than clear.
During the 9-1-1 Board Meeting held on 16 September 2014 it was made abundantly clear by the County Executive that she was above answering questions from the public especially if those questions exposed her as being less than truthful and non responsive to more than one complaint of sexual harassment, hostile work environment and threats of intimidation. Her direct response was "I don't have to answer any of your questions you are a citizen" she then got up to leave.

Maybe you should run for office so you can participate in these meetings of elected officials.
For one, it means you probably have worn out your welcome with the way you ask questions. Secondly, maybe since an investigation is going on, she may not want to hinder that by answering your question.
If you would think about things before flapping your jaws on this blog you could reach some logical conclusions.

I have to agree with the opinion that Barrett's method of presentation leaves much to be desired. He can be very caustic. I fully believe it is not what he says but the way he says it. Sure he has pissed off many people and will continue to do so.
However, I equally believe that there are elected officials who fully believe that it is there GOD given right to be elected and reelected. Vanzant is one of those.
The term "Public Servant" is defined by her as ... "Those citizens who are beholding to and subservient to her." She has always believed that she is above the huddled masses. I would like to see an indictment handed down to a Grand Jury were Vanzant, and others, would be called to testify (under oath). Have the Grand Jury investigate this matter and have that group of people (who are not associated with the E-911 Office) determine in a professional, judicial and impartial manner what was done, by whom and whether or not anything should be sent to the County, State or Federal Courts for trial.
It's very easy to throw out accusations that I'm the problem but it's very different giving some rational reasons as to why that might be true.
I would challenge anyone to simply ask those who were in the room when I spoke to describe how I behaved and how Mrs Vanzant behaved; who acted as the intimidator in their responses.
The question that I asked was about procedure not about the investigation. Specifically, "what is the procedure for reporting a problem, can it be taken to any Board Member or does it only go to the Chairman? When I was asked by the Mayor and Chairman to be more specific I stated, "When a problem was reported to Mrs Vanzant on more than one occassion she did not report it to the Board "so the question is must complaints be taken directly to the Chairman only or to any Board Member?"
Mrs. Vanzant then denied she had ever been contacted other than by a letter and a phone call that threatened a law suit. When I gave the name of the person making the complaint I was called a liar and the lady who had filed the report was called a liar. That is when Mrs. Vanzant angrily stated that she was not going to answer any questions since I was only a citizen.
Everyone at the table had agreed that by speaking in generalities there was no danger to the investigation, then when Mrs. Vanzant could no longer control her frustration she angrily rose from her seat and dismissed the meeting.
Others Board Members who wanted more understanding than cover up did discuss the reporting procedures after the meeting.

For someone who can't even get his qualifying papers in by the deadline, Barrett has little room to complain that he can't participate in a meeting of elected officials. I've never heard him say he was denied the right to speak at a public hearing when he followed the rules. But we are paying these elected officials to do their work at meetings, not to humor Mr. Barrett, me or anyone else who is not a member of the body debating government business.

If you want the most technical term, our country is a constitutionally limited representative democratic republic. Our form of government, the constitution limits the power of government. We elect representatives, so it's not a pure democracy. But we do elect them by majority rule so it is democratic.

Ms Vanzant needs prayer for pride comes before a fall.Any official (elected by the people for the people) who has become so prideful and controlling that she doesnt think think they have a right to speak is in serious trouble. I can not understand why the board members are afraid to stand up for what is right. People on this page want to accuse and blame call each other names what good does that do for our county? We are to pray for Godly leadership and as I see it we dont have it. We wont have it until everyone opens their eyes to the truth. When someone tells the truth they are attacked.
