School Board Gives Minor Hill And All Citizens The Finger

Yes, that is right, the Giles County School Board gave the citizens of Giles County and especially the residents of the 2nd District a great big finger with their decision to not wait for the County Commission to Appoint a replacement to  fill the empty seat on the School Board.

Let's look at a few things that I believe violated either the law or the spirit of the law in this School Board action.

First a work session was used to arrive at and make a decision, not just some minor decision but perhaps the most important decision they will be called on to make this year. There is a difference in a work session and a regular public meeting or a called special meeting. What was done tonight fails to meet any of those requirements.

Second, was there a ten day notice prior to the "special called meeting" and was the subject of that special called meeting made known to the public? The only public notice I know of was on WKSR and that was not ten days ago and it involved a called meeting for the purpose of voting on a "Cooling Tower" for Richland School. There is no other business that could legally take place during that called meeting but the announced "Cooling Tower".

Third, why was there such a hurry to reduce the number of candidates for the position of School Director, that they could not wait two more days until the County Legislative Body could meet in a legally called "special session" to appoint a person to fill the empty School Board seat? Is there not a School Board Meeting on that same day. Why wasn't a full School Board allowed to make this decision?

It is not secret that I have been a supporter of Mr. Smith for the permanent position of School Director. While I agree that he may not have the greatest educational qualifications I believe that he has proven his ability to take a school and turn the students and staff into a pride filled productive place of real education. I believe that he can do the same with the whole system if given half a chance and some support from the Board. To say that support has been lacking would be a compliment in light of the open hostility that has been shown by some Board members.

If the School Board must decide against the leadership of Mr. Smith at least make some effort to do it legally and without the shadow of prejudical personal animosity toward the man.

Let there be no misunderstanding on my position, I believe this School Board has acted in ways that have been extremely prejudical to open, honest debate and decision making. They are an embarrassment by their secretive behavior, their overt rejection of the "Open Meetings Law",  their disingenuous negotiations and their unwillingness to set aside personal prejudices and look at what is best for all the county.

WKSR announced there would be a work session tonight almost two weeks ago after the last meeting on the 12th. Tonight was a work session, not a called meeting. And no, there's not a school board meeting Thursday night after the commission chooses a new member.

That is exactly what they did to our district and the citizens. Minor Hill is not happy. It is an embarrassment of how the board has handled things. Clearly not for the teachers and for the people. Lovell and Brewer are racist. Know that for a fact. Known them a long time. Did not think they would ever stoop that low. As far as for Holt, a sad individual. This board and some of the commissioners have their system going. Well the finger was pointed at Minor Hill but what goes around comes around. It really does.

Do not be surprised if a sufficient number of signatures are gathered on petitions; which will then be given to the Giles County Election Commission; which, by Tennessee law will have to hold an open and special election.

What will this election decide? This special election will decide whether or not to impeach the entire Giles County School Board.

To the 11:47 poster.

I believe that I acknowledged the timing of the work session and that in the same announcement it was stated that a special called meeting would follow. The reason given for that called meeting was to approve a cooling tower at Richland School. According to the rules set for special called meetings no business other that that directly related to the stated purpose of the meeting can be discussed. As for the Thursday Meeting that was the result of a statement made at the time the County scheduled their special called meeting to appoint a 2nd District Board member. I apologize for that misunderstanding.

The question remains however, "why did the School Board find it necessary to make a decision on the School Director candidates prior to the 2nd District being represented?".

Was a work session the appropriate place to rush to a decision? Why didn't the School Board wait until after the 2nd District was represented, would two days really have created such a hardship?

Not knowing, with certainty, the mind and heart of those involved I must say this seems to have been an unnecessary rush to judgement by the School Board members. A rush that seems to have excluded any concern for the people in the 2nd District, the people as a whole and the rules and laws governing this situation.

District 2 should be angry at Christie Glover, she alone is the reason they were not represented.

School Board Announces Director ApplicantsFriday, March 13th, 2015

The Giles County Board of Education learned the names of the applicants for the director of schools position at yesterday’s meeting.

The list of eight applicants includes two familiar faces: Interim Director of Schools J.B. Smith and Elkton School Principal Donna Cobb. The remaining applicants are John Bush of Lewisburg, Dr. Shelly Mills-Walker of Missouri, Dr. Bradford Rosenquist of Mt. Juliet, Dr. Tammy Shelton of Fayetteville, Dennis Stockdale of Indiana, and Phillip Wright of Columbia.

Board members scheduled a work session for 5 p.m. March 24 at the central office, during which time they will pare down the list of eight applicants to three. Smith said he will have copies of the applicants’ names for anyone who wants one on Monday at the central office.

After the work session, the board will convene a special session so members can approve an emergency purchase of a cooling tower for Richland School. Smith said when power was out at the school for several hours late last month it allowed water in the cooling system to freeze, which then burst the coils. The purchase is estimated at $25,000-30,000.

Working people don't get to hear WKSR's news. When we get on their very slow web site most of us just give up. So when we read the paper the news is old.

On my day off I checked it out. It took a long time to get this. Hope it helps some.

You just can't give Dr. Webb a break can you? That is sad. Forever this blog has been about getting away from the good ole boy system. Don't y'all understand that the good ole boy system is what got Mr. Smith placed as interim in the first place. I think however good Mr. Smith may have been, a person that isn't from here as director that doesn't know anybody's family would be the most fair choice for all involved parties. I just hope that whoever gets the job doesn't listen to the whining judgements about school board employees and is able to make his or her own judgements of his or her emloyees.

Girl, you are the number one person to whine. Kissing butt already, are you? It was a previous board that put him as director. This board probably did him a great favor. Things happen for a reason. Also, more things for the little back office whiners or kissies , bound to happen but I don't see it being good. Lot of running around seeing this one and that and let's not talk about the board. Just because you support Mr. Smith does not mean he is THE only person for the job.... None of us know the qualifications of the other applicants... Although Mr. Smith had a lot of very loud support, does not mean he had the majority of the support of the people in Giles County or in the school system.. We will never find anybody that will make absolutely everyone happy, so why do y'all deserve to be happy when others are not if you wouldn't have it the other way around? Can't we as a community peacefully wait and see how the new dorector turns out? He or she might not be half bad...

It's very unreasonable to blame Ms. Glover for stepping down she tried to do her job and was treated with an incredible amount of disrespect from the time she took the seat. My only surprise is that she didn't resign long ago and give some other Board members the severe tongue lashing they deserved. While she may not have been the best Board member in the history of the world she tried and did the best she could with what she had to work with. I for one appreciate her efforts.
The focus should be on the illegal actions taken by the current Board at Tuesday's meeting.

You are probably right that the other candidates would do a good job. That's not the point. The point is that Mr. J.B.Smith was doing a fantastic job as principal in a very difficult situation at Bridgeforth. He was asked to give that job up to help the county out, and act as interim Superintendent. Now, he has no job to go back to. He was and is a very qualified principal and very few would think otherwise. The School Board members who literally voted him out did not do so with the welfare of the children at heart. No. Their motives were political, racial, or both. Like it or not that is what happened.

The question has arisen as to why the County Executive has taken such an active role against Mr. Smith and those who might support him? Why was Mrs. Tim Underwood's name left off the list given the radio station by the County Executives office?
Why has so much misinformation been spread about some of Mr. Smith's supporters? While the specter of race looms over the issue I believe that the matter is more one of fear that they will not be able to manipulate and control MR. Smith as easily as some of those favored to be the Director.

Pretty sure our board members, with the exception of one or two, have failed to realize they were elected by the people in their COMMUNITIES to represent their voices. NOT for the elected board members to represent and vote in accordance with their own personal agendas/vendettas. Clearly the community, at large, was not "heard" and represented. Nor were the teachers' voices and requests given any consideration.....Once again, Giles County school systems are going to be the laughing stock of everyone surrounding us. Also, Mr. Barrett, it has been posted on this feed where the work session was properly advertised to narrow down the candidates on March 13, so how else did they violate the law? Maybe try acknowledging when you have been proven wrong instead of skipping around and only responding to what you choose to.

Its been a great week in Giles County. How many of you voters who bitch about everything that you dont agree with attend meetings and call your board members to tell them where you stand on issues? If you didnt you have no right to complain. The SCHOOL BOARD DID IT RIGHT and legally. Why were you not at Richland for the last meeting to bitch about the next meeting. The attorney there set it up and you just sat back and said nothing which means you agree without question. Mr. Barrett has his "fact" all wrong. He speaks evil with no first hand information. That isnt good. Here say is never acceptable in court. GET A LIFE FOLKS. If you cant support and say something good about your associates, keep your mouth shut and opinions to yourself. Perhaps you should follow the rules that have been set forth by Mr. Barrett regarding this blog. I'm pretty sure it says no profanities should be used.
That being said, I attend all board meetings that I can. When I am not in attendance, it is due to the fact that I am a caring and loving mother who is involved in my children's lives and want them to have bright, educational futures. Futures where they don't have to have 5 directors of school in 5 years time. We cannot move forward and progress if there is no stability. This is simply common sense.
Furthermore, you do not know me. I am a well educated individual who cares about my community much more than many. I have consulted 4 board members and had lengthy conversations with several while they were campaigning. Moreover, I have known 4 of the board members personally for several years. I, as well as many, were told one thing by these men only to have had the complete opposite happen since their taking office. Also being a person of moral character, I find this highly unethical. So pardon me if I have a problem with how all of this has transpired.

To the 12:46 and 1:40 posters. Let me see if I can respond to your specific question with clarity and without skipping around. It is not a legal and binding vote when it is taken at a "WORK SESSION". A work session is not an official meeting, there are no official minutes taken and there are no decisions that can legally and appropriately be made. Without it being an official meeting how can there be an official vote and decision made. As for the announcement of the meeting if you look at the Tennessee Code Annotated it requires that the announcement be made in a newspaper of general circulation in that county.

The School Board DID NOT do it right or legally.

Evil, means immoral or associated with the devil, perhaps you are better aquatinted with evil than I so please show where I have spoken evil as you sated.
I also would respectfully request that you show which fact I have wrong as you also stated?

Your advice to just keep your mouth shut if you can't say anything good is one of the primary reasons this county and nation has degenerated into the abyss corruption and mediocracy.

No one is claiming what they did Tuesday was a legally binding vote though. They narrowed the choices down and they will vote whether or not those are the choices they want to make next Thursday. If the people had taken the time to learn about the Charter and not assume it was Charter Schools which some one may have put into minds, the people could ask for a recall vote and get the board members out that don't know head from hole in ground. If no one else shows up at next meeting it best that all of District two show up and demand their voice be heard about getting a chance to vote for top three. This work session wasn't set for any other reason than to beat the 2nd district. Second District be there or don't bitch.

11:40 It was asked by myself and another Minor Hill resident, for the workshop to be moved from the 24th to another date after the District 2 person was voted in. Mr. Williamson did state Mr. Cagle said it was up to the board. So yes the majority decided to continue with the "work session". Let me just say this, The Giles Countians started a Be Somebody in support of Mr. J.B.Smith and of the Giles County School Board System. A good person for this county and only the ones that do not care to support him are not a "no body", Everyone is a somebody!Mr. Smith treats someone as a Somebody even though some are ready to just poke that jabber in his back a little deeper. Even the person that is writing the letters is a "Somebody". But an anonymous letter does not mean a thing to me or anyone else. At least have the courage to sign your name and come forward. Until then, it does not mean one thing. The ones that do not care to support him, have their own agenda. Their choice for many reasons. Whether it is because a " position in the school board" so that is a personal vendetta, personal reasons from the past, again a personal vendetta, race and again a personal vendetta from past history. Mr. Smith has only tried to do the right thing. All we have asked is to be given a chance. Legally signs are allowed in support of him because he is NOT an elected official. Unlike some others, or better yet, put your name and get the facts straight on many things. Go to the board meetings. Talk to your board member whether you for or against. We do not ever expect everyone to always be for the same person in a position. That is just the American Way. Your choice. It is called Freedom. The problem is, is that the community is involved and it will continue. The teachers deserve someone they have worked with for years, trust and respect. And yes the majority want him. So again, Giles Countians for A Better Education is for a good education for our kids, a great place for our teachers and most of all wanting someone who is fair and cares for Giles County. If people care to write in to who ever, continue! Voice your opinions, good or bad. You have that right. But put your name. Does not mean one thing. Now if you are going to make accusations or statements, make sure you can support them, but again, if your name is not on it, not worth anything. Just as you are doing your research, I have done mine. Those issues will be confronted at a later time.
Know many in the school system and I know who clearly to trust and not to. But again, their choice and their decision. Not for me to judge if someone is for or against! But I do respect the people that do have the courage to show their support and the ones that do not support. Believe me I have ran in to some that do not support Mr. Smith and with no questions of asking why, it was their choice to talk to me about why and the respect I have for those people go far and beyond because they have courage and we walk away as a friend.
And if the board is making decisions for the right reasons, so be it. We respect that and Mr. Smith will move on with his head held up high and he is "Somebody" as all we are!

I was very pleased to see that the chairman of the School Board has begun to walk back from the illegal vote and decision that was made at the "work session". If the Board's attorney advised them that the vote and decision was legal in the work session then it is just another of several terribly incompetent opinions made by this attorney. I have a Blog topic about all his conflicts of interest and can not for the life of me understand how or why they would continue to pay him big bucks with all his conflicts of interest and bad advice.

What happens on 2 April at the next School Board will determine how I proceed with the legal action. Hopefully there will be a real vote taken and a legal decision will be made and all districts will be represented.

As I congratulated Mr Wamble at the Commission meeting I was hopeful that he would quickly establish himself as no push over and it seems that he has indeed done that. I feel very confident the 2nd District will be well represented.

A prayer is said before every meeting that always mentions, "Making the best decisions for the children of this county." Yeah right. Lovell, and McMasters...they couldn't care less about the children. Lovell has said that they should try to find anything they can on J.B. by getting his file, as to ensure he couldn't even have the option of going back to Bridgeforth (as if he would do that anyways). Believe it or not, ladies and gentlemen, that is a fact. They care about not being able to control the director, opposed to how well the director is doing his job. We can't be too mad at Brewer though, he's just too remedial to know any better. He probably couldn't even read the resumes, so simply followed suit. As for Bill Holt...well even Brewer could figure that one out. Some people are right to say that not everybody supports J.B. Look where we live. It would be crazy to think the entire population of Pulaski (Giles County) supports a black man for an authority position. To be honest, I've been surprised by the amount of support he has gotten. It warms my heart. Too bad his supporters are only the educated and not the majority of the school board. THE MAJORITY OF TEACHERS SUPPORT J.B. SMITH. Who else in the county knows what is going on in the schools, or more importantly, the classrooms? Sadly, the support J.B. has gotten has backfired. At this point the members of the board, instead of listening to what the majority of people want, are saying, "You know what, we don't have to listen to the people. We can do what we want." The only hope the children of this county have is for the people to stand up and demand a recall of the school board members of Giles County. They are without question corrupt individuals that are not worthy to speak, let alone sit at the same table as a man like J.B. Smith. Recall the board members. Do not let them make the same reoccurring mistakes made by previous boards. Do not let dirty politics win...not this time... not when the children of this community are the ones at stake.

To the 10:37 poster. Now I see why you are so opposed to Mr. Wamble he has an Air Conditioning business and you have an air condition unit.

You could have simply asked why I believe Mr. Wamble will be a good representative on the School Board and I would have told you. I didn't even know he was related to Kendrick. I've never placed much confidence in a person simply because of who they are related to, I prefer to look at their character instead, While I don't know Mr. Wamble personally i know some extremely reliable people who do and I have every confidence in their judgement. Not once have I heard a single thing against the character of Mr.Wamble and I have seen the results of his decisive and common sense actions. I believe that Mr. Wamble will bring a much needed common sense approach to the School Board and will make decisions based on facts that benefit the county rather than the prejudices of personal agendas and opinions.

You know what, you all are not see the clear picture her. The school board has two new members that either are currently in or have previously been in a Level 5 school. One was Vice Principle and the other is a level 5 teacher in a level 5 school. They know what it is supposed to look and run like. Giles County has two Level 1 high schools and everyone wants to stay on the same course. We are currently ranked 16th in or district of 16 schools academically and that seems to be OK with everyone. Take a look at the minutes since Mr Smith has been director. Mr Smith sets the agenda and has yet to put anything even remotely addressing academics in front of the board. The majority of his support is coming from teachers who do not want to change. They like the staus quo and being last place. It is easier that way. If we get a new/unknown director then they may have to change their ways and actually teach in their classrooms. Maybe if as much effort was spent on the kids that has been spent on Mr Smith, then we could make a difference.

I guess that's why Bridgeforth was ranked number one in student achievement in the state while J.B. was principal...because he doesn't care about academics. Let's keep the ridiculously stupid comments to a minimum people.

11:13, You may want to read the news papers and the news. Currently, Mr. Wright is currently posting for another director's position as we speak and hops skips and jumps all around. Shelton also and has applied for previous positions, Bush resigned in 2013 from his position Coffee County in 2013. The board could have at least have chosen the Doctor from Indiana, but another powerful person probably that the board cannot handle. And correction on the minutes, it is not only Mr. Smith, it is the Chairman of the board also that adds or takes away and signs off. Also, go to the board which I do not think you have the courage to do, go ahead and listen very close to the tapes from October on. Read the minutes. You are the same ole poster, one that probably sits at your computer all day long including at school in your office, and think about what to post. The board does not even communicate with anyone until they have to. If you think that this is all right, well then you are in the other's category. I would rather be in someone else's category that knows how to conduct themselves, treats people right and fair. And 12:41 is right, keep it to yourself. But then, yes how would you know, no one did not even recognize Mr. Smith of their achievements at Bridgeforth, in the paper and Webb did not even attend the ceremony along with others. How cruel can some be. People aught to be ashamed of themselves. But trust me, Karma does happen. Truly does. Do I wish it on you? No! Not that type of person, but how dare you cut down teachers of this county. But why should I even question you, because at least they are one's that are not ashamed to speak what they believe in. You have a great weekend. See you at the board meeting, that's if you attend. Have not seen you at many! I think just one if I remember right.

Nobody could please the people in Giles County, so watch out who ever gets it. When they get elected they forget the people that put them there.

The reaction of the Be Somebody gang is exactly the reason why we dont need him. You have slandered everyone that does not want him in office. You have used the race card you have used bullying and every tactic you can and now your mad because you did not get your way.If JB cared about the people he would be man enough to admit defeat and bow out with grace.I doubt that will happen . Actually there are currently 3 Level 5 schools in Giles County: Bridgeforth Middle School, Minor Hill School, and Richland Elementary School. And for your information, under the leadership of Mr. J. B. Smith "Bridgeforth Middle School is the TOP middle school in all of Tennessee, and is the 2014 first-place winner of the Value-Added Achievement Award. Equally as impressive is the fact that Bridgeforth ranks 4th in the entire state among all 539 K-8 and middle schools. This is the third year in a row that Bridgeforth has been recognized as one of the leading middle schools in our state."

All facts will come out soon enough. Just go to the board meetings, work sessions, go to the board and get all documents and read the policies. All public record. More people breaking them for sure even the little letter writer. Also, go to the court house and read procedures on the Commissioner's office etc. A lot going on in this town, a lot. Soon enough. I have been here my whole and have never seen the community acted as they have and I will tell you one thing, more are for Mr. Smith than one knows. If it were an ELECTED seat, he would have no worries. So it is not an election as someone stated. The BOARD is voted in. No one ran in Joy McMaster's area except her. Rhonda Turner, no one ran in her spot. Glover was on the route of Mr. Smith, and I assure you they probably pressured her. I would not be surprised. I know a couple of them on the board all of my life, and let me just say I am shocked and embarrassed to even know them at this point in my life. How some can be very cruel. You are right, the board does not want to feel pressured to vote for him, but that means they are on the board for the wrong reasons and not NOT NOT for the School System and the kids. So keep on whining and fussing. You should have ran for the school board. Look at the total votes in this county. Sad! I will pray for the right thing to be done but most of all I will pray for how cruel people have been towards this man and his life. I do believe in what goes around comes around and I am old enough to say today, it surely does!

And if someone can say you have done a job or in life without ever making mistakes, well I guess I am going to hear the wrong preacher at the wrong church, but my preacher would be the first to say he is not perfect. Talk to the teachers there about how frustrated they are with the senseless paperwork and terrible morale. In fact there are 4 level one schools in this district - Elkton, Southside, Richland Elementary, and Richland School. That is HALF of the number of schools in this district. Once again another year has gone down the drain as we continue to have nonsense happening with our school board and with our central office. Whoever is named director has a difficult challenge ahead!

Some are just taking all of this likely and talking about this and that. I do not think people realize the severity of this situation. If is a very serious issue. No matter who the director will be, a lot has happened. People in this town have the right the support who they want whether it is for or against. A lot had happened and yes from commissioner's office on down. No matter who is in, this board and others are there for their own agenda. Not going to happen if many have anything to do with it. I am so glad that many are speaking out. And as another said on their post, it is even ones that are friends of a few of the board members. I offer an extension of gratitude directed to the current school board members. Previously I had succumbed to the thought process that the board would not select the best qualified candidate to fill the directors position. I settled on the theory the board would give way to ignoring attained qualifications and proceed forward with a local less qualified applicant. I offer my apologies to the board. Well done.

Any person should be able to submit name inquiries into numerous search engines as to the background of the candidates submitting their services for the directors position. The number of members currently sitting on the board is a mute point. Mr. Womble, if indeed his intention is to select the candidates with advanced qualifications, will concur. All should easily identify the crystal clear information available that shows beyond doubt that the board selected the three applicants withholding the advanced qualifications needed for this position. If one removes the given names from the prepared lists of qualifications submitted evidence of qualifications suggest the three names chosen would be correct. Any and all public statements implying the desire to offer the directors position to the most qualified candidate have no room for error in questioning the boards decision. The board did identify the top three candidates. If one perceives this action with negative energy the source would be personal.

As the plot thickens what new coats of arms will be exposed? We know Mr. Barrett has become an enabler of wrongdoing by his own penned admission. Published by Mr. Barrett Tuesday, November 18, 2014, “Why Spend Thousands of Dollars To Find What You Already Have?” clearly without argument states his desire to forgo established procedures of selection in favour of utilizing the 'good old boy” method of promotion. After all his ramblings about government not following proper procedures in hiring processes he becomes one of the first to abandon the thought of selecting the most qualified candidate and forwarding support to instead the utilization of personal preference. We also know the teachers union has strongly endorsed utilizing personal feelings rather than seek the most qualified candidate to lead. Now we have a new board member selected by the county commission to help establish educational procedure. Will he really rely on the voice of his district and select the nominees based on qualifications? The hands of time will tell.

In response to the psychophantic rantings of a self proclaimed "smartass", you sir have not a single clue as to what you are talking about. First of all, there is no procedure or policy that says the board must do a search for a director. That is done exclusively at the discretion of the board. The board did not need to spend money for an attorney or for a search. Second, one of the candidates chosen by this board was denied by the last. Was he chosen as a thumb in the eye of them? Third, Why is the board spending money when they ghave a truly qualified Director in place? Well smartass, Ziehen Sie Ihren Kopf aus dem Arsch.

I stand corrected Mr. Barrett in my assumption regarding your attained intellectual capabilities. Reading your thoughts I assumed you were of objective nature seeking fairness and truth. We both know during debate and rebuttal the first participant to resort to personal attack methodology has lost. I lift a pint in your honor and accept your defeat.

Moving on to address your claims of personal attacks towards you and teachers. My review of your position remains incontestable. Published by Mr. Barrett Tuesday, November 18, 2014, “Why Spend Thousands of Dollars To Find What You Already Have?” The following quote from within. “What is the point of spending several thousand dollars going through the process and paying an attorney, whose advice has proven faulty and costly in the past, to find the best person for the job when by most accounts he is already in that position”. You sir agreed that a “process” was in order but yet you called for the board to ignore that “process”. Instead you offered encouragement to the board to abandon the search for the most qualified candidate in favour of promoting Mr. Smith who may or may not be the best qualified. “To find the best person for the job when by most accounts he is already in that position” are your words. I find the phrase “by most accounts” interesting. What are the origins of these “most accounts” ? So by you own words your current position pertaining to staffing government openings should consist of simply placing hand picked personnel whom reside within the system rather than seeking out the best qualified person. Does that sound familiar to the “good old boy” system? Your endorsement is noted.

My statement regarding the teachers union remains steadfast. They too bypassed the opportunity to wait and offer support to the candidate withholding the highest credentials. The timing of their actions demonstrated their desire NOT to select the most qualified but resort to the “good old boy” system. If they had waited until all applicants were a known and then decided that Mr. Smith was their choice then creditability would have been extended. Lets say I work for Company X. A representative from my union hands me a sheet of paper endorsing my superintendent. Now I know this paper will be forwarded to my superintendent. So do you really think I would not endorse the said superintendent? A skewed poll at its finest.

Mr. Smith's chances of appointment have been diminished by the actions of a few. Your endorsement alone allowed the ship to take on water. Your track record of supporting candidates speaks loudly. Their title of incumbent remains void.

Klug although you seem to be a highly intelligent person but it goes to show you that intelligence does not mean you have common sense. You are further from the truth. Mr. Smith was going to be pushed out on January 7th before anyone attempted anything or any support. Just ask Lovell, Brewer, McMasters and Holt. I bet if Glover was put on a stand, she would say the same. Oh and ask Vanzant too. If you do not see that, then you are just like the rest. It has nothing to do with Barrett or teachers not supporting anyone new coming in, it is in support of someone that has been in Giles County all his life and has cared for the Giles County School Board. He never had any chance with this board. And you know it. Does not mean a dam thing what is on paper, because asses come in all aspects of intelligence. At least Barrett has the courage to stand up for what he believes in.

This has gotten so petty. What's going on is wrong and it's obvious. Those who argue...come on. Let's all just take a second to be for real. It's wrong. So many lies, and fallacies just to make a man look bad who hasn't done anything but bust his butt for a community full of people who don't appreciate it. Time and time again, out of town directors have been appointed for this position, and time and time again, they were clearly the wrong choice. Is it that crazy of a thought to consider not doing that this time? Is it that crazy to think J.B. is the best candidate. He may not have a doctorate, and he may not be your favorite person in Pulaski, but does that have anything to do with how well he does his job. He cares far more about this school system, and more importantly, the kids in it. This whole thing has just become ridiculous. If I were him, I wouldn't even want the job anymore. We don't deserve him. For all the naysayers, do you really believe he shouldn't have at least been in the top three? Seriously? If you say so, it is in my opinion, that you aren't too well informed, but you speak as if you are. I think there's a word for that...ignorant?

It is my opinion that you have no idea what it actually takes to run an entire school system. I'm sure he cares about the kids but nobody goes into education not caring about the children and the influence they may have the chance to make on those children. He has done many things that were wrong, unethical, and probably illegal if you dig deep enough. To run a school system, you need more than just a big heart. It takes a strong financial background as well, which Mr. Smith does not have. As a a person, he is a great man. As a person spending tax payer money, he is far from the best. My opinion.

I know it's hard to believe since Mr. Barrett didn't post it, but below is the 13-14 audit report from WKSR

County Receives Good Audit ReportTuesday, March 17th, 2015

Giles County’s audit is in and county officials said they are pleased with the results.

Giles County reported two audit findings for the 2013-14 fiscal year. Duties were not segregated correctly in the offices of clerk and master and register of deeds. The office of the trustee was found to have accounting deficiencies. According to the audit report, some deposits, bank transaction fees, and electronic fund transfers were not posted to the general ledger until after the audit period ended. In addition, former trustee JoAnn Townsend attempted to reconcile errors in the bank accounts each month, but did not do so correctly.

Financial Management Director Beth Moore-Sumners said she found it remarkable and noteworthy that the county executive’s office and school and highway departments reported no findings.

County Executive Janet Vanzant said she is very happy with the audit and credits Moore-Sumners and her staff with the good report.

“I am very pleased with our financial manager and her staff and the great job they’re doing,” she said. We hope that each year we will continue with good audits. Everything fell in place wonderfully.”

All read the paper! Glad you justified that. Does not matter of the past. It is today and tomorrow that many should be concerned about. People really should take a look at themselves before YOU and others point fingers. Pray for all of you.

To the 31 March 7:10 poster.

You are right in that the County Financial management Office has done a very good job handling the finances of the county. Receiving another outstanding audit report is very commendable and all involved are to be congratulated.

To be very clear this paragraph has nothing directly to do with the Financial Management Office. Are you aware that the auditors do nothing more than basically check to see if item A is placed in the correct box? They do not examine nor report on the appropriateness of how money is spent only if the right line item has been used and the numbers match at the end of the column. This is the reason so much money disappeared from the system a few years ago. This is why a former Program Director was able to get away with paying herself and assist for their travel from home to school, give unauthorized bonuses, and use the school school credit cards for personal purchases. State Auditors said nothing about those things nor about a multi-thousand dollar contract being bid and accepted on the back of an envelope without any competing bids. You see a regular audit does not care what money was spent on, only if the right numbers match. Giving several hundred dollars to an unauthorized pseudo-charity isn't a concern of auditors nor is paying someone for attending meetings they never attended, or bid rigging an insurance contract. Only when a comprehensive audit is done will those things be revealed or if Commissioners become so fed up that they demand a change.

3:59 I think you meant raising. I think it's mostly children posting they don't know what is going on. So they can't tell anything about the subject, they just attack. That's the way it's been for years.
I would read what Mr. Barrett posted and think someone will tell why he's wrong, but all they do is attack. Makes a person think they don't know a thing about it.

I guess the Nobodies are typing away. If they would only realize they are the laughing stock of the County. My friend received one. It is really funny but sad too. If they want to be in that group go for it, because you all just gained 5 more members tonight. How they conducted themselves was embarrassing. They really do not realize how they made themselves look during voting. Well planned. I had to walk out right after the vote I was so disgusted. Could not stand to watch another minute. Mr. Wamble and Ms. Turner, I raise my hat to you two. You two are definitely for the county. Saw a lot of hate tonight. But i know one thing JB is surely a Somebody to go through what these people have put him through and still stand up for Giles County School board. So nobodies,, Be Nobody!! You got your name exactly right!

Edwin Lovell has been doing underhanded things even on the commission. Ask him about his little hide away where commissioners met to have private meetings to discuss how they would vote on things. Been there done that.
