Giles Free Speech Zone

The purpose of the "Giles Free Speech Zone" is to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand. Why Are Empty Buildings Having Utilities Paid For Them?

What happened to the Old Records being moved to the former Alternative School Building? Why is the county paying utilities at the building if they are not utilizing it. Why hasn't the building been winterized and shut down altogether instead of being heated etc?

It seems that there is just no follow thru to good ideas that are approved then sort of just forgotten.

It seemed like a good idea to renovate the building owned by the county and store the Old Records, which had outgrown their cramped quarters, in a bigger and better facility. Money has been spent but then interest apparently waned and nothing.

It was a great idea to finally move toward the development of the interstate/bypass property. Money has been spent but slow action and lost interest seems to once again dominate the playground and everything just sits waiting for someone to do something. It's the responsibility of our leaders to make things happen, to do whatever is necessary to see that projects started are projects completed in a timely and satisfactory completion.

I wish they would move the old records to the Alternative School building. Other places have Archives. This would be so good for old people no steps to climb. Would be good if they combined what is in library with it and give more room for the library.

Have you ever known this Administration to follow through with anything? Where's the development of the Sewer Treatment plant at Frankewing? How's the water lines going in the Campbellsville area? Needless to say..... nowhere!

But, you can rest assured that the building permits are being issued. That is one of the accomplishments of our administration. Something that costs us more money, bunches of money with no real benefits!

The way I understand it, our county commissioners voted for this some years back and it is through the state that inspections are made and the county receives some of the dough ray me! I may be wrong about this but I don't think so.

Building permits for any new construction are now required; have been for the past 3 years. They can be obtained at Carol Wade's office.

Probably because, like a car that doesn't get driven, if you don't keep them up they break down and become worthless.

If you put the car up properly it can be stored without use for ages. These buildings are being heated and cooled because of plain laziness.

Your absolutely right 10:04. As was pointed out in the post the buildings could have been winterized.

Why do all of you want the County to do something out of the ordinary? Complacency and apathy rule supreme. Do you really expect the County Executive to actively seek out issues that just may save Giles County some money?

So long as no one bitches; no one cares. Then, if someone bitches, they are labeled as a trouble maker.

Get with the current program, sit at home, go to Wal-Mart and walk around leaning on your cart, smoke your cigarette, eat your junk food and watch TV. Don't bother with getting the best possible education you can for yourself or for your children. Don't get involved because you just might upset someone or get them mad at you and Lord knows (bless your heart) you don't want to piss off anyone.

Complain that life is hard and that good jobs in Giles County are being offered to people who are moving in from elsewhere and that your unemployment benefits have run out.

Don't to forget to vote for the politicians who have been in office for over 10 years, because they know what they are doing.

Don't forget to complain about the Giles County School System because they lost last Saturday's football game. The school system ain't worth a damn because the football team ain't worth a damn.
