The purpose of the "Giles Free Speech Zone" is to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand. E-mail topic: Extraction Tax Rip-Off?

Has the County Government settled with the rock company relative to the extraction taxes owed for materials used as fill in the Home Depot store complex?? Who signed off for the county?? What was the resolution? Were we outsmarted by Rogers' Group attorneys yet again?

The amount of taxable material as defined under state law was reported and paid for. unfortunately, there was not way to win a suit as the state law currently reads. it would have cost more to fight.
