Giles Free Speech Zone

The purpose of the "Giles Free Speech Zone" is to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand. Admiration for Commissioners

At yesterday's County Commission Meeting thirteen commissioners finally stood tall and said no to Mr. Tee Jackson and a budget amendment that was so full of holes it could have passed as a fishing net. After Commissioner Campbell read the state law that prohibits using reserve funds for recurring expenses, he then Commissioner Pollard couldn't get a straight answer from Mr. Jackson Commissioner Howell asked a direct question, "Mr. Jackson can you guarantee there are no recurring expenditures coming out of these reserve funds you want to spend". After heeing and hawing Mr. Jackson finally said "No I can't go that far". He then turned his attention to the old stand by "roofs need to be fixed", when that song wasn't accepted he turned to Mrs Garner who also after much defensive maneuvering finally admitted she didn't think there was any recurring expenditures but couldn't say for certain.
For the thirteen that stood tall spoke against the deceptions and voted against the amendments I salute you. To those who still refuse to see reality or found it necessary to protect their jobs I can only offer a bowl of raspberries. Allen Barrett

Lets guess who gets the raspberries - Holt, Reedy, James Harwell, Lovell, Brown, - am I correct and who would the others be? Please list.

Thanks to Pollard, Howell and Campbell for speaking up and to the remainder who voted against Jackson and his everlasting deceit. Its time for this turkey to be removed. It would be cheaper to buy his contract out than to allow him to continue. Then a thought comes to mind - could this possibly be ouster from office?

Then our wonderful finance director Ms Garner "couldn't say for certain"! Some kind of an finance director she is. Very disappointing.

Please give Mrs. Garner a chance. She just started with the school systems budget and a mess to fix. She is really working hard to find where money is hidden and how to get monies in the right places. She is finding things that shouldn't be found. So let her get through at least one budget before you crucify her.

OK, so Ms Garner is "finding things that shouldn't be found", "A mess to fix", Ms Sigmon, Ms White, Ms Braden all worked as bookkeepers at the school offices. If things are that bad, why did Garner accept those people into her office - when she didnt have to, even making one her deputy director. Too, isn't this what the public has been pointing out for years, especially by the retired comptroller. Maybe now the nonebelievers can understand why the public wanted financial management.

WAB - I join you in the salute to the 13 commissioners who made Giles County a place to brag about! Awesome!

A school system without ethics needs to be changed! If your conscience tells you to cheat, it's time to repent or go somewhere else!

Thanks very much to the thirteen who had the guts and backbone to stand up against the excessive spending. We need more like you.

What do you think will be the next move of the School Director? Will he pull something else that may not be as easily detected by the Commissioners who actually study these budget amendments and requests? Will it be pertaining to school buses and/or maybe hidden costs involved in administative pay?

A weasel don't stop stealing chickens because he gets caught he just changes the way he goes about stealing them.
With his chief operating flunky now as asst. director of finance he'll just hide thing deeper. Buses will be a good item to watch along with excess funds for fuels. Salaries are so well obscured I doubt if some of the bosses even know what they make.
Insurance and "other" categories also need watching.

420 - you're sooo negative! If the council passes the financial reconstruction amendment, the assorted doctor of finance will be sanitized & we'll all be ready for the revisualization.

Here's the rectumization - If it passes, the rooster will be crowing before sunrise from now on. If it don"t, maybe the possum will visit, the hen house will be filled with feathers, & we won't have to listen to "any crock'll do" from here to infernity
