What you do is create a subdivision in the midst of some farm land, set up some roads then con the County Commissioners into believing if they will take the roads into the county system repair and maintain them the subdivision would be brought into the county as developed land instead of undeveloped and the increased taxes would be paid.
So after the county takes in the roads you just renege and keep the subdivision listed as undeveloped. That's the situation with Mr. Bass and the Town Hill development and the county is being robbed with the extra burden being put on other citizens. Allen Barrett

Why didnt the board of commissioners have this Mr Bass bring the subdivision into the county beforethe county accepted the roads? Or why didnt they give Mr Bass a certain number of days to get the correction made. How dumb can 21 commissioners be? Nothing but carelessness.
Some commissioners tried to inject some common sense into the matter but were out voted by fear and stupidity. Fear that someone might not like them and stupidity because of the fear and an unwillingness to stand up for what is right. Allen Barrett
Mr. Bass simply does not want to pay his rightfull amount of property tax on this subdivision!
County Commission needs wake up, and let Tax Assessor do his job.

Yes, Mr. Bass has made lots of money for Years selling real estate, and Im sure he can pay his share of taxs.

He's not the only developer over the past years that has pulled this. There have been more, such as a Mr. Smith, who has in the past years gone around and bought up some of the worst sites for subdivisions and then sold the lots for hugh amounts and then got the county to take the roads into their system to be maintained and the poor ole people who have bought the lots have been stuck with flooded out yards and roads which the roads have cost the county mega bucks to continually fix over and over. County officials, wake up, we the taxpayers are sick and tired of footing all the bills for big time developers. Make them do things right before taking over their roads!

Why does Campbell have to be in Registers office every day? Cant be much need for him to be there with the way property sales have been in Giles for the past year.
He claims it's because he surveys property and he has to pull deeds but I don't believe there's that much surveying going on in Giles County these days. And besides there is more surveyors here than just him. No, he just likes to stroll and be seen. If I were Kay Gibbons I would request he not come in there everyday for it doesn't look good. And the same for the Annex. He's in there everyday also trying to find out all he can about eveybody's business. If he would go to work instead of strolling, he'd be a rich man!

The county would be a lot better without them. Maybe we could elect somone with common sense & not take orders from "The Spear" who wants to run the county & city. He hired Jackson's son & Cambell's wife works for the city also. They have to do as he says or they may lose their job.
