Well, I see the CAVE people are after Terry Harwell again. I wonder why they aren't attacking the other two 7th District commissioners right now? After all, they defeated barrett in a landslide as well.

You are absolutely right about that. I have heard people bring up his name and it always brings a round of laughs. I have bever seen the first occasion wherein that was not the case. In fact, I've never ran into the first person who defends him....other than on this blog. He is looked at as a joke and as a nuisance, and I know of NOBODY who is afraid of him.
To date there have been 523,596 hits on this blog so I'd say there are many who are interested and take the blog serious that's as simple as facts can get.
The question has been asked about the terms for the committees. This question was raised by Commissioner Pope in the Legislative Meeting on Monday. Mrs Vanzant very enthusiastically supported the Legislative Committee dealing with this issue in their first meeting. It was rather humorous to hear her express the need to change the terms especially when it was she that changed them to begin with.
You need to get a life Mr. Barrett. Your hatred for Mrs. Vanzant show through every time you speak her name. Other than you costing the county money with frivilous lawsuits, I am sure that she doesn't give a rats rearend about you.
Thank Goodness there was no Commissioner Barrett on any committee.

For the life of me, I just don't get it. When you are told time after time after time how insignificant you are to the county's government, you continue misbehaving. You don't see how arrogant and despicable you are, and yet you continue to alienate and anger people.
For some reason, you have this grandiose idea that you are a martyr for the people of Giles County and that you are the self-appointed sheriff who must police up all our dishonest and incompetent elected officials. Well THANKS, but no thanks.

So what are the term limits of the committees? If they are the same as last year Barrett needs to apologize to several people on here for being wrong. Then he should post a public apology to Mrs. Vanzant in the paper. Will he prove to be an honorable man? he avoided the question in his last post. Apparently the correct dates are October 1st-September 1st.
I don't think it's within him to humble himself to that degree.

First I thought I did answer the question about the terms of committees. THE TERMS WILL BE DETERMINED AT THE FIRST MEETING OF THE LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE.
Most commissioners have been operating under the belief that committees were for twelve full months and that was how they functioned until this year when a sentence, declaring the terms to be from 1 October to 31 August or eleven months, was added to some lists of committees. The list given out by the County Executives office containing several former commissioners still listed as active members. Including a man who left the commission on 16 Sept. 2009.
To 9:44 show me where you saw that "hate" for Mrs Vanzant in the compliment I wrote on this thread or name one frivolous lawsuit I have filed. Both your claims are outright lies.

I have no grandiose idea of martyrdom for the people of Giles County or anyone else. I do believe as a responsible citizen I have a responsibility and a right to expect public officials to be accountable to the citizens, to not be underhanded in their dealings and to treat every citizen equally with respect and openness. Most of our public officials are doing just that but unfortunately there are some who see themselves as above the people to be served by the people with unquestioned obedience.
As a citizen, even an insignificant one, I have the right to expect more and to demand more. In-spite of the absurd claims made by some about me such as self appointed sheriff, you have not ever heard me make the claim of being the spokesman for anyone other than myself.
If you want to see me apologize for something simply prove me wrong. I have apologized before and it's no big deal when I am proven wrong. Understand just "you" or your "fellow-gossipers" saying I'm wrong don't cut it, show some proof or sit in the corner and count dust specks.

Here's the thing you seem unable to accept, the establishment, rules and terms of committees are not established by the County Executive but the County Legislative Body.
While some committees are mandated by state law or private acts most are internal and totally at the discretion of the County Legislative Body. The County Executive serves on internal committees as a courtesy only and has no official role on those committees.
To the best information I have been able to find no Legislative Body passed a resolution that determined a year was less than twelve months. No Legislative Body has passed a resolution placing the power to alter internal committee terms to eleven months. No Legislative Body voted to approve the list of committees with the stated dates DAW provided and I posted. To date no official has produced a resolution that states the County Legislative Body has proclaimed that the term of internal committees are for one year from 1 Oct to 30 Sept.
The dates passed out by the County Executive was as wrong as some of the former commission members identified as being on those committees.
I do hope this makes the answer clear for you.
No, what I don't understand is the fact that you say Mrs. Vanzant set those dates and then you say she can't set those dates. So who did set the dates? She explained in the paper that she would like to see them changed. She expressed at the last meeting that she would like to see them changed. You put a condescending little twist on her reaction to having them changed. So with all of this change that is wanted to take place, the dates of Oct. 1st to Sept. 1st must have been correct in the past. Are you calling her a liar?

Don't know 8:32 but they are very right on. The only time I identify myself as a republican is for primary voting, other than that I have been and will remain a very staunch conservative. To the point of believing firmly in a government as envisioned by the founding fathers as revealed in the Constitution, the Federalist Papers and their private writings along with the strong personal conviction that right and wrong are determined by God's Word and not the government. President Lincoln and Reagan were Republicans both usually are listed among the greatest of presidents.
While I usually vote for the -republican in federal elections that is only the result of them usually being closer to my ideology than the far more liberal democrats. I worked for Gov. Reagan when he challenged Pres. Ford for the nomination and I worked for him in both his successful campaigns. I helped organize students at Columbus College and Troy State while working through the Columbus Republican Headquarters. Now with a firm declaration of being a Conservative and long record of having worked to get Ronald Reagan nominated and elected, it seems reasonable that if you are determined to do the opposite of me you must denounce President Reagan and embrace President Obama.
With support like you offer, inactive from the sidelines and for the status quo ante, there never would have been a President Reagan and President Carter would have had two terms to destroy the nation.

Our county officials should remove him from office for he does nothing but write for the paper and send Solid Waste reports over to the County Executive's office for them to file to the State. Mrs. Vanzant's secretary could do those reports, especially since they're the one filing them to the State. To me, Dan Watson's position is a joke and a waste of taxpayer's money.

Because I don't like the articles has nothing to do with whether I like the writer, I don't even know Dan Watson and wouldn't recognize him if he ran over me with a shopping cart in WalMart.
It never ceases to amaze me how many other people know so much about what I'm thinking, who I like, that I am moving out of the county (untrue) or why I do the things I do.
I find the articles by Mr Watson as aimless and inane as Tennessee Ramblings so I don't read them it's that simple. I have not contacted the paper about discontinuing the articles, firing Mr. Watson or anything else other that to write a letter in response to a personal attack that was made against me.
I'm not losing any sleep over the articles one way or the other.
If Watson is not doing something other than county work while he is sitting in his office for 7 hours each day, why is his office door always locked?
Lawrence county has a part-time solid waste office person. Lincoln county reports are done by their financial office. Why does good ole Giles county need a full-time position?

I have long advocated that before every budget is adopted that each department give written justification for the personnel they have. Every department should have a written job description for their position. Each year a written statement of goals should be submitted and made public and examination of how many past goals have been met.
It is total nonsense that county personnel are not evaluated at least yearly and goals are not set.
Teachers and principals are evaluated, why can't others be.
Something needs to be taken up at state level.

A church hopper puts me in mind of the CAVE people. They find fault with other human beings and can't seem to be happy anywhere. Those types 9church hoppers) run from one church to another looking for perfect people who do not exist.
