Big News At PES
Well, PES (Pulaski Electric System) will be holding their monthly board meeting tomorrow morning at 7AM and it looks like some very big news will be announced at that time. Wes Kelly, who took over the company after the debacle under the blended leadership of the last PES president and mayor nearly bankrupted the company, will be leaving for a similar position in Columbia.
Personally I always found Mr. Kelly to be personable, well informed and open to questions. Mr Kelly provided the much needed leadership that had been missing at PES under that leadership PES moved out of the financial disaster area. PES is going to have a hard time filling his shoes. He is not only a good business leader he and his family have been good citizens for the county. I thank them and wish them well in their new endeavors.

Since the Barrett'a children live elsewhere my guess would be they are leaving instead of just moving within Giles county. Would you still want to stay here after the persecution he has been through? Maybe once he is gone everyone will admit to missing this blog he has provided and the early news he has brought to the citizens. For sure we cant rely on the radio or newspaper.

Speaking of leaving ... Have any of you heard that the Frito Lay plant in Fayetteville is going to have a $65 Million expansion of their warehouse and shipping facilities. Once completed, the shipping functions and jobs at the Pulaski plant will be transfered to Fayetteville. Drivers have been notified that they have the choice of transferring to Fayetteville, retire or be laid off. There will be a severance package
I have heard this and I also heard it is because the economic development and industrial development board would not authorize the expansion at our local plant. I am not clear on the specifics and hope there is some one that can shed light on the subject.
What I heard is that land would not be freed up for the expansion so the expansion was not allowed and Frito Lay, although the Pulaski Plant was the first choice to add the lines, Fayatteville was willing to work with them to gain jobs.

OK so you are not willing to say you were incorrect and that for (at least one time) Mr. Barrett was correct. You will not admit to it; but circumstances have proven you wrong. Enough said.
If Giles County continues to lose jobs, I guess that it will be upon the property owners to fund the County's spending. It would be very nice to have a group of officials who were determined to increase the corporate tax base and provide some assistance to the "average citizen".
I do not know Dan Speer; but, records show that he is currently receiving well over $100,000.00 in salary and benifits per year. This is over $3.40 per person (men women and kids) per year for the current population in Giles County.
Just one other interesting point; in 1879 there were more people (over 32,000) living in Giles County than now. It must be due to the fact that the population of the US is decreasing. Or, just maybe, Giles County does nothing to invite people to relocate here; start up new businesses, raise families and provide a location that good honest people would say "Damn that is a place where I would like to live".

I'm not the writer of the post in which you refer and this is not a personal attack, but as I recall you did the same thing in some of your previous posts that you now persecute one who wrote at the same level as you did. Remember the Alpo post as well as others. I think you even condemned those that spoke against your post and called you names in their attack. Why do you now hold others to a standard that is above that which you hold for your self. Unwed mothers are not all the result of rape or incest, the great majority are just loose with their virtue and self control. The biggest problem is that the male involved, I refuse to refer to them as fathers as it put down real fathers, takes no responsibility leaving the taxpayer to pay his bills and take his responsibilities.
Any parent who allows their child to watch filth on tv or listen to the filth on radio are guilty of child abuse and are the biggest contributors to delinquency.

The second and third sentences show the typical arrogance of those who think they should be able to say anything they want about others and not be questioned. The first thought I had in reading your comment was how similar it was to the person who continually feels the necessity to tell everyone what a great Christian he is.
Being a tough guy has nothing to do with being a real man. I've seen some very tough guys and gals, a couple would have chewed you up before you could tell them about your reputation; one woman would have shot you before you could have even gotten a dozen words out, she had done that very thing on at least two occasions. The point is that it's not toughness but the anger that sometimes rages inside a person that makes them do things without thought.
A real man or woman's toughness isn't defined by who they beat up but by how they meet their responsibilities, what level their integrity is at and whether they can be depended on in a crisis. Real men and women are forged by discipline and principle.
This is not to say you or anyone specifically is lacking in these qualities only that they are requirements among other things in defining real men and women.
My unsolicited advice is to try and ignore those who make personal attacks against you, of course we can't all the time, but we can fight back with facts, humor and intelligence.

I'm not Mr Barrett but I know him and based on what you responded to there was nothing he said that was in anyway judging you, only reflecting on your actions. Whether you are a Christian or not has not been questioned by anyone to my knowledge, but many have said they are tired of hearing you whine about being a christian instead of proving it by your behavior. Apparently you have no clue what a preacher does. Ask your preacher if there is a difference between retiring from preaching and retiring from being a christian. Preachers do a lot more than have a sermon on Sunday and Wednesday. Retirement means being able to spend more time with family or whatever but there is no retirement from being a obedient Christian.

I do prove my Christianity in my everyday life. That doesn't mean I think myself to be such a "great Christian" as barrett described me in his post.
I try to treat all people with some degree of dignity, because God knows each and every one of us. He knows we are fallible human beings who make mistakes. I make my share.
Respect is an entirely different matter. I respect the respectable and have very little tolerance for troublemakers and those who sow strife and discord, regardless of who they are. Do I respect allen barret. Heavens NO!

Although I'm sure that you had only the finest intentions with your post, how about we just let sleeping dogs lie. Mr.B made a couple of good points in his post above so I've been trying to be a good boy and just read the blog and post where I feel it is appropriate. I really do appreciate your vote of confidence, but I'm glad things have quietened down a bit (about me, at least). Check out some of the other topics on here as there are some very interesting one's to post about.

per your last post I felt the same way and felt that any thing further we had to say should be addressed between the two of us and face to face as opposed to a pissing match between us on this blog that does not amount to a hill of beans.
I did find 5:50's attack on my anonymous post hilarious as he refused to sign his name.
However, I do feel this blog can be a benefit to citizens, but when we lower ourselves to the level as we have in the past the blog is not to blame, only ourselves for not being more mature in our actions and language we use with those we disagree. If there are those that feel this blog is trashy and causes trouble then why not stay away from it?
This will be the last I post about this subject no matter who rebuttals or tries to stir the pot.
