Is There A Homeless Problem In Giles County?

I know there are a large number of families and individuals in Giles County that are having problems paying their bills which has resulted in utilities being cut off and eviction notices posted.

What provisions are made for those who have fallen on harder times and are in need of lodging? I understand that many churches are providing help to a large number of people with help paying utilities, providing food and temporary lodging of a day or two but what of those who have more long term needs?

How many homeless people are their in Giles County? How many children are in the school system who are known to be struggling in their home situations? What are the means by which these people are being dealt with?

Goes to show you the priorities of community. People think just giving a coat to someone once a year and announcing on TV for attention for their "church" is giving to someone in need or collecting cans once a year but then judge and make fun. But others would rather fight tooth and nail to make sure a man does not get a job in a school system. So Barrett although you might care for the homeless, I think you can see where people's priorities are. I know i have questioned God, am I attending the right church? A lot has been surprising this year. Maybe a more personal topic to make one evaluate their inner faith instead of their outer "fake".

While you make good points, the important thing to keep in mind is like people congregations are not perfect. Many have used the weakness and failings of God's children to justify their own broken relationship with God. No one is perfect we all have flaws just in different areas.

For sure agree. We all have flaws and are not perfect. Far from it and that includes myself.

All the uproar over the children as I have read it, concerning the director of schools yet 3 measley post concerning the home less and displaced children and homeless people of this county really speaks volumes for the phoniness of this county. It is not about the children, its is about "me".

Totally agree! The only time you see officials at a function is when a picture is being taken for the paper. It is sad. Sure people can do they santa train or coats for kids but when you down people in the same breath, it is sad. If you doing it for public notice, won't get you anywhere really. Think it may, but far from it.
How many times have people reached in their pockets and bring food to the boys and girls club? Or bring things to the food bank? But I can tell you this, no matter the director or not, we have seen JB Smith do more for this community and the kids and does not see a need to take a pic for the papers. So many see the bad, but so many miss the good! Ask a kid about Mr. Smith, that has to have a back pack sent home with food in it for the weekends.
5:46 is so right, it is about "me" out there. Most of all, the homeless and those kids that are struggling, sees who is who and know who is there just for an image! So many are blind, but the kids see!

Why in the hell do you think they wanted Smith? For the kids! Do you think the board is thinking about the kids that go home with no food? Hell no! It us about kids alright to them, they are called athletes! Now they will feed and home them!
Let's see if public cares for the kids this weekend! If you have to ask why, well then shame on all of you! The world is out of control. Everyone looking to blame this one and that one!
Carville and others, they do not care! They just like to hear themselves talk. Others just want to be in the White House. Power! Just like this pathetic school board!!
Sure they go out of the country to help kids but hell we pay for it so why should they get the credit! 1 It's easy when someone is footing the bill. Point is, that our kids are suffering and it will reflect the future. We think it's bad in other states, it is really not a black or white, it is all that is just concerned about "me"!! Even some parents put themselves before their kids! That is when you need people in the system that just does not treat it as just a job when it is to do with our kids! The Mr. Smiths....Hayes. Britton and others,..etc, they see all of it. Others just turn their faces! Pretend it's not there. Well it is. And no matter what people do to get rid of some people out of the system, they may be gone for a short time, but they will soon be back! Once someone cares, they always care!
