E-mail topic: Pulaski Sidewalk Ordinance
A reader writes: The Pulaski Board of Mayor and Aldermen have approved on first reading an amendment to the city code regulating sidewalks. According to the newspaper article this amendment would "require" city property owners to "construct or bear the expense of constructing a suitable sidewalk and/or curbing along the entire frontage of their property". This would mean in many cases that the property owner in addition to paying some of the highest property taxes in Tennessee, would be required to spend not hundreds but thousands of dollars on sidewalks and give up a portion of their property for the sidewalk. Any comments?

There is a solution to the problem of people getting probation after probation. We need to build a prison here in Giles County that will hold 10,000 or 20,000 hardened criminals. As crime rises we must look forward to places to house these people who are not on probation. This would also produce jobs for Giles County citizens.

Thanks WAB. Kinda a BIG error on the part of Free Press. Why wasn't a correction printed?
It sounds to me like WAB jumped the gun and didn't know what he was talking again.
WAB you are right It seems the city council make the ordinance say what they want it to say. We may not have jobs here, but we sure have pretty drug and mug trails.
