Thanks for doing this WAB.

So...for all the naysayers of PES/Ron Holcomb/Anyone Associated with PES...did the Guest Editorial in the most recent edition of the newspaper not stir some thoughts?

oh, you mean the quest editorial from the Radio/Newspaper/Internet Service owner? Guess he wants to own it all with no competition? He's had it really good here since he bought them all out, but it seems PES Energize threw him a curve. I actually like the man, but sour grapes are what they are.

11:10, good points indeed although I don't think that the rants of the owner of the newspaper qualify as a "guest editorial" Ha.

I'm referring to the guest editorial that ran this week. It was written by Danny Lindsey. If I recall correctly, he's an engineer with experience in the utility industry.

I think Mr. Holcomb is a good man. If he did anything wrong he was told to do it by the little bauld headed rooster. He has run over people so long he thinks he is untouchable. He brags about being orgnized .

Some of the things written by Danny Lindsey were way off base for someone associated with the utility industry. Surely, 12:28 you are mistaken in his experience.

Ridiculous, you call someone a good man who was knowingly ripping off the utility rate payers. What is your definition of a bad man???

For all the blog readers out there, I would like to divert attention from the topic for a moment only to apprise those who care how our tax dollars are spent of the latest "newsworthy" tidbit per our local news media. Seems the top dog leadership in our county government and cohort, meaning, County Executive, Janet Vanzant and Finance Director Loretta Garner are allowing part-time employees the luxury of having "paid for with tax dollars" benefits under the County Health Insurance Program offered only to full-time status employees. As stated in the local paper when this was questioned in the recent Finance Comm. Meeting, our, oh so gracious County Executive offered this explanation to the person questioning (Chris Morris) that he was not a county commissioner. As if that was a valid explanation for not answering Mr. Morris' question. Mr. Morris' response was "I am a taxpayer and a resident". With that said, Chairman, Bill Holt, adjourned the meeting. My guess is Holt adjourned so the question would not be answered and therefore not put Vanzant and Garner on the spot to give a valid reason. And, other than Vanzant's snide comment that Mr. Morris was not a commissioner, hence being the only reason for anyone to be allowed to question how our tax dollars are spent, she stormed off, bodyguard(Husband Joe) in tow. Now, there was no explanation given by either Vanzant or Garner and no concern expressed by Vanzant other than she was annoyed by being questioned. And how dare anyone question her HIGHNESS. Myself as a taxpayer find this appalling and quite arrogant of Vanzant as well as the majority of the body of members on the Finance Committee with the exception of Barry Hyatt who was not present and Roger Reedy, who was present but was disrespected by Vanzant, with her "eye rolling" and under her breath smart mouth comments each time Reedy asked a valid question regarding any issue on the table. You see Vanzant wants control of all aspects of our county. She doesn't want anyone to question her or her abilities, which are greatly lacking and one of those is the ability to tell the truth. I am so glad the news media was able to be there to report this display of both Vanzant and Garner, as it speaks volumes about them as to how they uphold their oath of office and/or ability to do their jobs efficiently and ethically.

**continuation from above post***
What is going on with our county leadership? Whose best interest is being served here? Every citizen should be very angry to learn of this expenditure, that we as taxpayers are paying. Many, many, throughout our county go without health insurance coverage. Many of those who go without work full-time jobs but, their employer does not provide health insurance coverage. Now, we learn that our tax dollars are being used as a financial means to afford coverage for employees who have no entitlement to coverage, where the many citizens go without coverage every day. While I struggle to pay my own insurance, I am saddled with the burden of paying for those county employees' coverage that is not even entitled to have the benefit. I am pissed off to put it mildly! I am very annoyed, that Vanzant or Garner could not offer an explanation for such a costly action. What is the basis for shunning such a question as Mr. Morris asked? It seemed a valid question to me. It is because it was a hidden expenditure that no one had been able to uncover until recently and there is no explanation?? Need I mention one of those employees receiving health insurance coverage while working only part-time is one of her secretaries? Interesting, isn't it??? Are you as a citizen happy about this? When are the citizens going to awaken and see we have poor leadership and stewards of county tax dollars? Every citizen needs to get involved and question the devil out of this. We need an uprising from our citizens to have this question and many, many more answered. This leadership is in place because we put them there. They are accountable to us! So, why are we not making them accountable? Sounds like we need to have Town Hall meeting and get to the bottom of some the questionable actions taken by this leadership. Ordinarily, one would allow the electoral process be the avenue to take to get rid of inefficient elected officials. However, I don't think our county can afford one more year of this type of management. My advice is contact your district commissioners and demand they look into this matter. If anyone would like to know what district they live in and who their commissioners are I would be happy to help you with that. I am familiar with some of the commissioners and their districts, but not all. Please take this matter very seriously. I am sure everyone understands the rising cost of health insurance and how it has affected your personal budget. If so, try for a moment imagining how much our tax dollars are paying for each employee for this insurance and then imagine that cost multiplied. We should all be OUTRAGED!!!!!

The subject editorial is worth reading again - several times. It's eloquent & affective - Al Gore would be proud of the writer.

The $7 million is conveniently not mentioned. The writer certainly believes energy costs and utility bills will mushroom beyond the capability of average citizens - especially in Giles County. It's a "we have to" mandate that ignores nuclear energy, the vast real oil reserves we have, The monopolies & cartels that regulate supply and prices and, the practicality of using the coal and other energy resources. The sad fact is, our leaders are sacking our energy resources. The public will find itself back in the 1800's without a horse or buggy. Add to it the fact that 30 million illegal aliens are helping themselves to the shrinking energy production we have!

If you believe in a smart meter that will coordinate your energy usage with 300 million other citizens in a "free" society, Al Gore has a place for you in the global warming refrigerator. Which second of which day will you have your turn at the water tap or the toilet? I'm sure the smart meter will be able to ring your IPOD, GPS your whereabouts & calculate how much time you have to get to the head and flush at the exact time someone else releases their toilet handle! Count on the same scenario for meals, reading, and using the telephone. All is nice in theory, but the logical result and conclusion is $7 million to buy a perpetual overseer and paying more for less so you can do without!

How did Al Gore get into this? And, you don't believe the things about global warming?
Get you head out of the sand, listen and read what qualified scientists say about it - what is actually going on - read about it and weigh the info. Don't listen to just the ultra Republicans - which have the attitude that " well, so what. we need to make all the money now - don't give a damn about the future environment - hell, I won't to get any of it anyway - Republican attitude.

Once upon a time, I believed in Santa Clause. Once upon a time I even believed in Al Gore & voted for him.

Santa brought presents, good things, & lots of happiness. Later, I learned to carry that tradition on for new generations of little ones.

Al Gore went nuts, gonna drop crap on your door step & ring your bell. gonna cement your chimney shut & make it illegal to own a reindeer. You gonna wake up & find the cookie jar full of crumbs, you wallet stolen, & the gas syphoned out of your car. He gonna scrap out you airconditioner & sell the junk to China. He gonna make you chop wood for his fireplace while you got to sleep in your long john insulated jammies! gonna take you down to the bowling alley, proctologize you & toss you down the alley for a three alley strikes & tell everyone how great it is to have you around!

Man. you too dumb to realize that we in a freeze down & it aint gonna get better.

I am wondering what has happened too. After a post like 7:18 & 7:19 with no response, I am shocked to conclude that no one obviously cares anymore. Is that it? No one cares?

I think that "blogging" has been replaced by Twittering. In order to keep a blog going there really needs to be an open forum of free style comments and answers. This may satisfy town politics for some but for the most part it is one sided and peppered with pro and con banter rather than facts. Could it be that talking politics has burnt out those who might start new topics? It could be a fun forum for all kinds of topics if everyone were allowed to post at will. If the trouble might be cursing or crude slander make it above 18 to read or post. As unfortunate as it might be open is just that.Open for whatever topic or response that is offered. That and the rumors that this forum is no more private than sending a email. Your URL is traceable especially from the person who this blog is run by.

Before you get on this blog and post your ignorance, know your facts first. Tycon did not demo Sam Davis in any shape form or fashion. Just a way for you to spread your stupidity.
