WHO IS WHITT MILLER ?????

Who is Whitt Miller, the amateurish writer of "Whitt's Well" that appears in the Pulaski Citizen, and why is "he" writing those articles in the paper?

How can you add one and one and get eleven and have the right number?
It depends on how you add one and one. If it’s one plus one the answer is clearly two but if you add a one next to a one that makes eleven. Now what does that have to do with the price of rice in Thailand, nothing but it does help understand some of the things that happen around this county. Things like deceitful people who slither around and use different names to attack those they dislike, to promote their agendas, to protect family members from repercussions when they act out at school (I’m not speaking of children), they even use those positions of power to enhance opportunities for their spouse to be elected as County Commissioners.

A very interesting letter was published in the newspaper from Mr. Bill Holt who asked the question who is Whitt Miller. Whitt Miller is paid to write an article for the Pulaski Citizen titled, “Whitt’s Well”. “He” is not found in any writers union or syndication records. “He” does not exist in internet records at least not under the name Whitt Miller. If you don’t want anyone to ever know who you are you have to live alone in a cave and use only cash, everything else leaves a trail.

In a very sly, cunning and disingenuous way Whitt Miller tries to set a tone using gossip, innuendo, and sometimes plain old untruths. For Mr. Holt that tone was an attack against him and his school. Was it retaliation against Mr. Holt for criticizing unprofessional and insubordinate behavior from a teacher, guess it depends on who Whitt is? This week the article in a very immature way used a baseball analogy to call on people to become “cheerleaders” for Government Officials. I suppose that’s a good request especially if you’re running for Mayor of Pulaski and your spouse is on the County Commission. At other times I have been the object of Whitt’s scorn.

Being Whitt Miller is a lot like being Anonymous on this blog, you can accuse and say things without fear of retribution or even having to be responsible and answer charges that you make. I know Whitt Miller reads this blog and has contributed to it at times, so I challenge Vicki Harwell to come on this blog and deny that she uses the pseudonym Whitt Miller and writes the articles under the Whitt’s Well logo.
The question is can a person have enough credibility to be mayor when they can't even offer an opinion using their own name? Allen Barrett

No, one is not free to post without fear of retribution(having his or her post deleted id it's not to your liking).
So will you now be mounting an attack campaign against Whitt Miller?

Anonymous wab said...

What's the attack? If someone is using the newspaper to advance their personal agenda should that person be allowed to go unchallenged? If a person has the conviction of their words should they be ashamed to be connected to those words? If a person chooses to make public statements about others should they be held accountable? If Mrs Harwell isn't Witt Miller why would there be a problem stating that she is not? I am not accustomed to making charges that I can not validate. Allen Barrett

Thanks Mr. Barrett for putting this post on here, it made me go back and read three weeks of Whitt Miller's post.
I had read Mr. Holt's letter to the editor and wondered what it was all about.

I take it no other school got any new carpet for Mr. Holt to think it was his school.

I know how it has been hard on air conditioners to keep houses and any building cool this hot weather.

Just wish school had started later so it wouldn't be so hot. Someone said up north they don't have air conditioners in schools..... well some I know do.

I heard a principal got an air conditioner for his school kitchen and I think it was Mr. Holt. Good for him to think about those workers.

Mr. Barrett,

I have enjoyed reading this blog since Kendrick started it several years ago. While I have not always agreed with your point of view, I always respected your opinion because I felt you had the best interest of Giles County at heart. But I must tell you Mr. Barrett, I am disappointed in this new thread.

With all the important issues facing Pulaski and Giles County, you choose to post this topic. Is this an attempt of retaliation against Mrs. Harwell for the posts she made a few weeks ago on the blog telling her side of the story regarding a comment you made about her? If you really want to know, why not ask her in person or over the telephone? I believe she listed her address and telephone number in her previous posts. Why do you want to draw others in to what seems to me to be a one-sided feud with her.

I truly wish you, as blogmaster, would return the blog to its original purpose that being "to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand."

The last statement says "Help make a difference!" Do you really think topics such as this will do that?

If you read the topic of this thread you will see that it is a very benign
statement of fact.
What I placed on the thread is more of my personal thoughts which is exactly what the purpose of this blog is. My name is included and there is nothing I posted that I can't back up. You and every one else has that same privilege.

This has nothing to do with "retaliation" as you describe it. What Mrs Harwell posted about an alleged incident at Legends involving me was a complete and utter ridiculous fabrication. The waitress that waited our table and the manager that was on duty deny any problem or loud talk. the people at my table and the next one over deny any loud or disruptive discussions.
The reason for this thread was to expose the dis-ingenuousness of being paid to write articles under a different name and using that privilege in such an irresponsible way.
The only vindictiveness involved in this thread is that of Mrs. Harwell striking back at a person who happened to correct her daughter's improper behavior and use the opportunity of writing a column to speak to her agenda while under the cloak of anonymity.
I'm sorry if that disappoints you but in the world of adults one is expected to take responsibility for their words and actions. Allen Barrett

I don't always agree with Barrett but he's right on the mark with this one.
If this is Mrs Harwell and she is being paid to write this article she should make herself known instead of hiding behind a different name specially when she is accussing someone of doing something without any proof.

How do you know so much about this person Mr. Barrett? Do you have a "source" at the newspaper? Like many have told those who disagree with you about this blog, don't read the column. Better yet, see if Mr. Lake and Mr. Stewart will let you write a column. You could call it "Barrett's Bull" or something similar.

Mr. Barrett,

Thank you for your response to my post (6:27). I don't know what happened that day at Legends and don't really care. The world is bigger than the two of you. You have your side of the story and Mrs. Harwell has hers. My guess is the facts are somewhere in between.

You have the right to post whatever you want on this blog. You follow your rules. I'm sorry, but I still don't see how "outing" Mrs. Harwell is going to make an overall difference to the betterment of Giles County citizens so I am still hoping you will use the blog for more constuctive topics that actually will.

Thanks for your consideration.

Something to think about.
If I had a point to make I would want my name attached to what I wrote. So you can understand how Bill Holt feels when he says that the writer of a disparaging article in the newspaper should be required to publish their name and contact information .
After all that same information is REQUIRED of anyone writing a letter to the editor in those same newspapers .
Only the authors of pure fiction (like Charles Dickens ) are accepted if they use a pseudonym .

WE ARE ALL HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT WE PUBLISH AS 'THE TRUTH' otherwise we can only assume this was a deliberate attempt by the newspaper to decieve their readers

Now for certain if the consensus of voters that didn't vote for Scott Stewart because the Lake's supposed support of Scott and their unfounded fear of the Lake's running our county(which was a ridiculous idea to strike fear in the heart of all Giles voters),one should pause to imagine what the voters would think if the "Masked" columnist of "Whitt Miller is Vicky Harwell. You have your opinion 7:15 which is based upon your silly feelings and the fear of being threatened. I truly feel sorry for you if you are putting a lot of faith in some of those being questioned. Your intellect is certainly questionable if that is the case. Too bad you think it is being a troublemaker to question those running our county. It isn't just your county got it? I want questions asked and every stoned unturned. That is my right to know and pry as much as I want to. These elected officials are accountable to me and everyone else in this county. If you are upset that questions are being asked I can't wait to see your reaction when some of them are brought to their knees for their bad behavior. Why are you so concerned with questions being asked? Why do you not want to know all there is to do with what goes on in our local government? Any logical thinking person would appreciate the honesty of government. Which causes me to wonder why you are so opposed to it? What do you not like the people knowing? If there is nothing to hide, then why do you get so upset? Someone once said on this blog if you have evidence then turn it over to the proper authorities. Well, it seems when that is done, you still aren't happy? There is no pleasing you. You just simply want the people to be in the blind because you or someone close to you stand to benefit from it. Period.

Wrong! I don't feel threatened by a troublemaker. The problem with you (and wab) seems to be a touch of sour grapes. Get over it!
Who is concerned about questions being asked? Not me. But what does concern me is that a man with no political power can run around trying to stir up trouble and expect nobody to ask questions of him. He reminds me of a little boy who wants to join a club when the members have already voted against his membership. Not accepting that, the lad seeks to bully his way into the club, not caring who might get hurt in the process. That is the difference between asking questuions and trying to stir up trouble.
Do I need to know every minute detail of what goes on in county government? Heavens, no. Why do you feel such a need? Isn't that why we elect officials to take care of the little intricacies? Of course!
Exactly who are some of those who will be "brought to their knees" in the near future? If you feel someone is hiding something, now's your chance to name them...right here and now. Oh, please enlighten us. And don't forget to sign your name to the charges. Who would you say should be turned over to the proper authorities? I don't want anyone blind and particularly to the accusations you might make. Do it.

From WLX News

Barrett Contests Giles' District 7 Commission Race

Elected Giles County officials will be sworn in on Friday, August 27 except for 7th district commission winners. Friday afternoon representatives of candidate William Allen Barrett filed a challenge in Chancery Court in the 7th district commission race claiming that one of the 25 signatures on the qualifying petition of winning candidate Vicky Coleman should be disqualified because the individual no long lived in the 7th district. Circuit Judge Stella Hargrove said that none of the 7th district commission candidates could be sworn in pending a hearing by Judge Robert Jones on September 2nd. State law requires a candidate to have at least 25 eligible signatures from their district on a petition in order to run for office. Coleman won her seat with 423 votes to Barrett's 254. All other office winners will be sworn in by Judge Jim Hamilton this Friday morning at 9 at the courthouse.

I kinda liked the Whitt Miller article in the paper. I learned something that I did not know. Did you??? Or are you a "know it all" like WAB? What does it matter who writes the article? So is Vickie Harwell going to be the next victim on this sight. If so then I will no longer read or participate on this blog. I know Vickie really well and yes she talks alot, but so do I. The biggest problem with this town is that women can't have a right to speak out on what they believe in.

Let me tell you, when school started there were more complaints among parents and children about Mr. Holt. It's sad for children to have to go to school and get ulcers just for going to lunch. It has been a big complaint since the beginning of Holt's time. The ladies yell at the children until they literally get sick. Bill does nothing to stop this. I think he has it in for the Harwell family because the daughter doesn't take his crap. Or maybe she doesn't go along with his flirting.

I am the poster at 7:25. I should not have used the "A" word and I apologize for offending anyone. It was my child in one of those "hot" rooms, so pardon me for being frustrated. You know school is out all summer so I'm having a little trouble understanding why these kids have to come into a room that's over 90 degrees the first week of school. It sounds like either the principal or the maintenance dept. is not doing their job. Then I sit and see how much money is being given and then dissapearing from the school board budget and that ticks me off even more. I am absolutely in NO WAY related to Vickie Harwell. I only know of her.

I don't think "Whitt Miller" is Vickie Harwell. In his/her column about the air conditioning at PES they stated that a friend had told them "their" grandchild had no air in their classroom. Vickie's daughter Kristi had no air in her room, in the 1st grade class SHE teaches at PES. If Vickie was Whitt Miller I don't think she would have made up a friend with a grandchild to put in the column, she would have just stated this information was confirmed by a school official, etc. KUDOS to whomever did write the article. He or she.

10:24 No. I have children's welfare I care deeply about. All I was trying to say is that the heat was a problem everywhere and for everyone. There was nothing much else could be done to reduce heat. Everyone knows an a/c unit can only reduce the temp down by 20degrees so when its 105 heat index you have 85 plus inside. Then I reminded all blog readers this topic is about the Whitt Miller/Vickie Harwell writings in the hope we could stay on track.

This is the first time I have been on this blog in months - interesting about the a/c issue. I know Mr. Holt is not perfect (who is?) but I don't believe that he intentionally forced our school children to sit in 90 degree classrooms. A/C units in all public buildings, homes, etc. are doing all they can do in our extreme heat wave during the month of August. Yes, maintenance workers are probably also doing all they can do to service the entire school system. Why couldn't the teacher or teachers just move the children into a different location during this crisis? For example, cancel library classes that day/days and set up class in there. Or music. Or Guidance. There is generally a reasonable solution to this type of problem that may be a headache but could be managed on a temporary basis. Come on people - get real. Whoever Whitt Miller is - sounds like he/she really needed to thoroughly investigate BOTH sides of this situation before making such a biased uproar in the local newspaper!!!!!

I agree air conditioners are being over worked in this heat and can't do any more. Someone in an earlier post said an air conditioner could only cool it 20 degrees from outside. I disagree with that. Had that been so all the rooms would of been that hot.

As for the teacher moving the students to another room... that's up to the principal if they can be moved.

Accdording to you, such posts should be removed as soon as they are discovered. Isn't that right, or does it depend on whether or not you like the posts?

WAB it shouldn't only be deleted bc it broke the rules. It is very hurtful and inhuman. can you use some humanity?

I'm cancelling my paper this week. Vicki Harwell's article makes it unfit to even wrap fish in.

What article? Are you saying that Vickie is writing Whitts Well. Well she is not I am Whit Miller and proud of it. I do not want anyone taking my credit.

Unless you are Vicki Harwell you are a liar to claim you are Whitt Miller.

10:17 Too many people have known for a long time that Vickie Harwell is Whitt Miller. Did Bill Holt ever get his phone call?

Is this a hint that barrett and company will now begin a trash and smear campaign against Mrs. Harwell like they did Mrs. Vanzant? I wonder.

Will you allow the trash posted at 5:14 to stay on the blog since others have already seen it? If you do, you are even more despicable than I thought you to be.

Can you people leave Vicky's children off of this blog? They aren't running for office, so they don't need to be on this trashy website.

Let me ask you again. Will you not remove the 5:14 post? I'll bet it would have already been gone had it been in reference to one of your loved ones.
You know, people get hurt or killed over such inflammatory remarks, and you should be ashamed of yourself for allowing it to stay on here. Oh, but I forgot. Since people have read it, you see no sense in removing it. What a crock!!!! Take it off before it goes any further! You know better than this.

Here's the thing 6:20 even your threats to kill me don't scare me so save your threats.
The post is left on here because of your own suggestion. You have been a strong advocate of not having a remedy for wrongdoing. Remember you said basically, Mrs Bassham made a mistake but the voters have spoken so you can't change the outcome. Well the people have spoken and decided that even though it was wrong to post something like the one you refer to, because it's already done why change it now. Does it make any sense, not to me but then it's your rules that I am going by. If bad behavior has no consequence why would anyone do the right thing unless it was to their advantage. If there is no remedy for wrong actions taken against others people will naturally do as they please without fear of repercussions. If you find the post unacceptable remember it's your rules that has allowed it to stay.

I NEVER threatened to kill you. Are you that ignorant or do you see this as yet another opportunity to stir up trouble where it doesn't exist? What I SAID is that people get hurt or killed over such inflammatory remarks and that you should be ashamed of yourself for allowing such rubbish to stay on this blog. You just told another lie. Do you plan to have me arrested for threatening to "kill" you? What a crock!
I just checked and was shocked to see that you did not remove that 5
:14 post. Shame on you. I'm sure Mr. and Mrs. Harwell are just as shocked as I am. What if someone said nasty things about your children, oh man of outspoken integrity and common sense?
What I said about the elction commission's making a mistake is the same thing they as well as Judge Jones said. YOU lost, and the voters did not want you. Get over it!

To 17 Sept 6:20AM

You stated, "You know, people get hurt or killed over such inflammatory remarks, and you should be ashamed of yourself for allowing it to stay on here. Oh, but I forgot. Since people have read it, you see no sense in removing it. What a crock!!!! Take it off before it goes any further! You know better than this."

If that isn't an outright threat it is at least a veiled, implied threat. Of course no one would expect you to take responsibility for that statement, but it speaks for itself.
You have been the most verbal supporter of the idea just because a rule has been broken doesn't mean there should be a penalty or remedy sought for it. It's your reasoning or lack of that has led me to leave the offending post in place. Allen Barrett

Would someone please explain to the paranoid schizophrenic that saying some0one is likely to get hurt of killed over inflammatory remarks left on this blog is NOT a threat to him personally? He is either ignorant or is just tryuing to stir up more trouble. In addition to that, would someone please explain to barrett that I only made that statement out of concern for the one who might one day push someone over the edge. For Heaven's sakes!

I think the writer got his or her drawers in a wad because of the smart aleck remark you made that he hoped for WAB to have some sort of misfortune.

THE POSTER WAS SIMPLY STATING THAT, WHEN PEOPLE SAY VERY MALICIOUS THINGS ABOUT SOMEONE'S CHILD, THE PERSON WHO SAID IT CAN GET IN A LOT OF TROUBLE. QUIT TRYING TO MAKE IT MORE THAN IT WAS. THE ONLY THING HE WAS SAYING TOWARDS BARRETT WAS THAT IT WAS WRONG OF HIM NOT TO REMOVE THE POST.

3:13 you are a big fat liar 3:13 and a coward to boot, Barrett never said anything about anyone's daughter he even stated that he was disgusted by any post where a non public figure was attacked or even discussed. Grow up you sniveling little cowardly liar.
