What Happened To The $2.70 Tax Rate Set For The County?

It seems that between the tax assessor and the county executive the $2.70 property tax rate that was approved by the Budget Committee and sent to the County Commission after the required public meeting was held, just wasn't enough so without benefit of the Budget Committee or the Commissioners they have decided to tack on another seven cents so that the property tax rate will now be $2.77 not $2.70.

While a regular Commission Meeting is scheduled for the 18 of July, there is now a special called Budget Committee meeting on the 21st of July and a special called Commission Meeting for the next week. Of course since the county planted the new money trees a few hundred dollars extra for special meetings isn't a problem. "PPP" is not an excuse for this kind of wasteful spending.

Can anyone explain why the only copy of the letter reported to have been sent from the state requiring that another seven cents be added to the property tax rate was taken on vacation by Mrs Garner, at least that is the story Mrs Vanzant told.

Is it possible that there is no letter requiring an additional seven cent increase and the County Executive has been caught in yet another fib?

It should be simple to track. The state office where the letter originated can be called. If any one has the State office the letter originated I will be happy to follow up. Just post it here.

Why could any county correspondence be legally taken from the county office from which it was received?

Aren't you guys equally angry that Tommy Campbell and Vickie Coleman won their elections? I think so. Wonder where that anger came from?

9:53 AM I commented nothing of city or county government should be taken home (by employees). For some reason you come back at me accusing me of 'sour grapes' on my part because Ms Vanzant was re-elected to office. Why did you make such a comment when the subjects are not related? Anyways, I voted for Vanzant.

Sorry to disappoint you, but the term enabler is a lie that was started by one professing to be above such things as lying and creating mischief. And youw willingly partake in this evil absurdity.
