I think it is about time. It will help the local economy because they will have a even playing field when it comes to the price of things.

Just another way to take more of our money in a recession. Fox is wrong the playing field can't be level until the same products and services are offered at the same prices. Pulaski has gouged the people for years that's why people go to other counties to buy the same clothes for five or ten dollars less than here.

That doesn't make sense 6:42. Would you pay $40 just for gas to drive out of town and back to save $10 for a pair of pants? I certainly hope you wouldn't.

It is unfair that local retailers can be outsold just because some business in another state can sell the same thing and not charge a sales tax. People that have no money shouldn't be online running up credit card bills anyway. Poor people don't run the economy, rich people do. Rich people are the reason any of us have a job. Unless you work for our broken government.

The problem is that most do not look at the big picture. A sales tax on internet purchases would help local economies. It is also a voluntary tax. You don't have to purchase anything online if you don't want.

Wrong Fox, local economy will not benefit all the money will go to the state with no requirement to send any down to counties. The state is hurting already more money only means more spending on themselves.

Not wrong. If consumers can purchase goods in their own town rather than purchasing them online, the town makes money. Business make profits on the goods and the local government makes money with the local sales tax. It is the most basic of business principles.

If this proposal by Alexander passes it will not only mean a new tax on people but a huge amount of new paper work on every business that sells over the internet. Such large companies as Amazon will have less problem than the smaller businesses. Amazon will bear the expense but smaller businesses will just close up not being able to afford the new book keeper and the required benefits.
This is another ill thought out job killing proposal by a RINO liberal who seeks only to grow government.

The businesses will pass the burden to the consumer that voluntarily purchases the products online. This will go even further to even the playing field for local, small businesses to compete. You are totally not seeing what this bill would do for local economies.

There has to be something done to keep big businesses from shutting the little guy down. This is a way to help the little guy.

Barrett, do you want to see the small businesses in Giles County shut down? Would that further your agenda to make the current local government look like they are doing a poor job?

You are absolutely right in that the rich are the real jobs creators in this country. Those who hate them need to rethink that.
Had it not been for the rich man who paid me a wage for working I would not have been able to provide for my family when my children were small.
Like it or not, that's just the way it is, and they will protect themselves by such things as lay offs, cuts in pay, no raises, higher prices for their goods and services, etc.
Thank God I was given an opportunity to provide and earn a living.

Not all business owners are rich people. A lot of people make only a few thousand dollars on e-bay saleing stuff. The cost of shipping levels the playing field. I buy food at Kroger in L'burg they are cheaper and better. I work there cause I couldn't find a job in Pulaski it wouldn't bother me if the expensive stores closed I'm tired of be being took advantage of.
Do you know if you buy a truck in Alabama where it's cheaper you have to pay the difference in taxes to get it registered. That's violates my right to free trade. The communist keep taking from those who work and giving it to them that won't work. I'm tired of struggling to pay my bills and other peoples and I'm tired of paying taxes to pay salaries of people who treat you like dirt.

What Americans should be sick of is this huge influx of Caribbeans, Guyanese, and Trinidadians who come to this country by the boatloads and get all kinds of taxpayer money compliments of the federal government. Don't take my word for it. Google India Assertion and read up on it. Ask someone who lives in New York City about it.
Exactly how many hotels in Giles County are NOT owned by these people? What about convenience markets? Perish the thought that they could take over all the gas stations? This is a huge issue nobody seems interested in talking about.

12:09, you need to get an education on car sales and why you pay TN taxes if you live in TN rather than pay the 4% that Alabama residents have to pay.

7:22 Don't you think poor people have a right to buy where it is cheaper?
I don't know buying over the internet is cheaper, just don't have to buy gas to go get it.
No way would I give my credit card number over the internet is why I don't buy over the internet, so I don't know much about their prices.
I just feel sorry for the poor people. They are not all bad people. Some are trying to work, but just can't make enough to support their family.

As for going out of Pulaski to buy a pair of pants for $5.00 maybe they buy several pairs and other things cheaper, that would save more than the gas cost.

Yard sales in Columbia have supplied my family with clothes and other things for several years. It may cost more in gas but at least I get out of Pulaski and see how another part of the universe lives. Aldi has food so cheap and bigger selection compared to Pulaski even Sav A Lot that I save more than the cost of gas to buy a week of groceries.
