Looks Like The Capitol Brands Deal Has Fallen Through
It a sad thing I report but the Capitol Brands folks have informed the EDC that their project has hit a dead end. They could not come up with the needed 25 million dollars needed and thus the project is finished.
As a strong supporter of the waste water treatment facility at the interstate/Bypass I had been very hopeful that this project would be a great asset to the county, while this is a huge set back I hope that it will not be an end to the development of the long overdue development of this area and the vast potential it hold with the completion of the waste water project.

Sure everthibg will eventually fall through if they wait long enough.....so how long have we been waiting for this water plant? First BIG project goes away while waiting on Corkey to make some more money.

Who gives a damn whether or not Corkey and his relatives make money on the land deal? Someone has to own that land and it turned out to be him. Well too bad for those of you who did not have the foresight or vision to initially acquire that land.
As for the deal falling through ... well Giles County is not know to be progressive, forward thinking, cutting edge progress and a haven for businesses. We are a retirement community and will remain so as long as we continue our current way of thinking and current actions.
The EDC has got City and County money now the truth can come out about Capital Brands.
In these meetings did anyone ask about Capital Brands?

Yes I agree about what you said on the surface--the only problem with it is that the whole deal of the plant has ended up delayed not only in the change from the original location of the plant to now the inability of a hired lawyer to move the project along all adding up to delay. No I do t care about him (or anyone) making money, but the project keeps being delayed and it looks like ether there's an effort to slow progress or steer to project to the "selected" few.

Howell and Pollard don't equal one brain when you put them together. They are idiot enough to follow Barrett. That should be all anyone needs to know.

I never know if what Barrett post is true or not, but I've never seen anything that might prove him wrong except what Mr. Rackley post.
Someone comes on here and bitches about Mr. Barrett, but that doesn't prove anything except they don't like Barrett.

There never was a deal for Capitol Brands to come to Giles county. There was never a contract, only verbal discussions.
Its not a surprise to many that nothing happened with this and many people think it was an excuse to get things rolling on development of exit 14. Was part of Corkey's property already purchased by the county?
I wonder when the local news media will let the public in on Capitol Brands not coming? Or is the EDC only interested in promoting news that promotes them?
