Why Is The County Losing Students To Other Counties

This topic was requested by a poster.

I would like to see a discussion on this blog of why we are loosing our school children to other counties. I saw in the paper this week that Columbia Academy will be bussing students from Giles County next year and we already have lost several kids to Marshall and Lawrence County, Are our schools really that bad. What is going on here?

Those counties properly fund their schools.

I think the poster's spelling and grammatical skills answered the question.

Columbia Academy is a private school. The county don't have to fund them.
Could other public schools of had a Superintendent that managed the money right.

I think there was other reasons students went to school in other counties, than the building. What I don't know. If you know of a child going to public school in another county, why not ask them why and report back to us.

Wow 10:54, I bet you feel so superior right about now. If using your red marker like that is your only talent then you must be pretty lame. You're welcome.

Is it true that a member of the Giles County School Board is instrumental in the agreement to bus Giles County students to Columbia Academy? What the heck? If true, how can this board member get away with this? Is this board member up for reelection?

What an interesting question 7:19. Are students from Giles County being bussed to Columbia Academy and do you have proof?

What is wrong with parents wanting to send their child to Columbia Academy? If the academy can arrange bus service it would be a big help to parents. You might want to check on reviews and compare them to schools in Giles County.

CA is a wonderful school and everyone in Giles County who can afford their child to go needs to hop on that bus every day.

Response to 20.16.
Your assessment of CA remains incomplete. Yes it is a wonderful school. However suggestions presented by the first person fails to account for gender and/or religious barriers. Before promoting application and acceptance to CA one should forward allowance of restrictions based on gender and religious affiliation.
If one's dependent is not of the Church of Christ membership in good standing, one's child will be forbidden to hold certain offices, leadership responsibilities, appointments, and social acceptance as to what the school beholds as worthy. XX will have even more barriers such as denial of forum speaking, praying, and leadership duties. Xy will fare better however lacking of membership to a specific church would deny him opportunities both academically and socially.
Advanced academic achievement starts at home. That is where the responsibility factor starts and ends. Richland, Pulaski, Zion, or Cornersville, the name on the school matters not.

Klugscheißer!

You don't have to go to the Church of Christ to be a student at CA.
I've heard you had to belong to the Church of Christ to teach there.

Could the reason we are loosing students in Giles County be because their parents have to move away for a job? Or parent's job in another county so take their children to the county they work in?

Giles County Schools have to take any student in the county. CA can choose their students. If they don't make the grade, play the sport well or have behavior problems they are gone. Of course, their record is going to be better. DUH!

Klugscheißer! I know of other religions going to CA and doing well.

If a person wants to send their child somewhere beside Giles County Schools that is their business.
