From the Financial Management Office

The claim has been made that “all” the county departments have “CUT” their budgets to a point that they cannot possibly be cut anymore and we “MUST” have a property tax increase and/or a “Wheel Tax”.
There has even been the claim that we have not had a property tax increase in years. I agree that the property rate has remained the same but the fact is there has been a huge property tax increase with the reappraisal.  Go ask property owners if they are paying more this year than they were before the reappraisal?

Here is a list of the different departments along with their Actual Audited  Budget for 2012/2013; Their Budget for 2013/2014; and what they have requested for the coming budget year.

WAB, thanks for all the work you put into creating this report for all to see.

My wish would be for all the commissioners to see this, even if its giving each individual a handout, otherwise they would never question nor evaluate what you have presented.

Only two have gone down.
Circuit Court Clerk - 186,588 - 174,716 - 179,442
Fire Prevention and Control - 2,992 - 2,767 - 2,800

Instead of hiring more help, when times are bad, lay at least one employee off. I'm sorry for that person, but when money is gone what else can you do.
No raise for one year and hope things get better.

Maybe if our county goes completely broke we can ask the president for help like Detroit.

Will someone please tell me how we have a line item of "other charges" of $670,000. Surely, in these "other charges" should be listed under their appropriate line item. Its obvious this is a collective slush fund and needs to be stopped NOW.

Industrial Development hasn't actually gone down in their regular budgets. They made a huge loan for a spec building and that is why there is such a large difference between 12/13 and the other years.

GTC hears the same song again....

It really warms my heart that the County Executive requires a $5,000.00 increase over last year and $55,000.00 increase over two years ago. I am glad that Vanzant is a proven leader and has demonstrated fiscal responsibility and restraint. We need her kind of leadership to move Giles County in the direction that has proven to be the very best for the average citizen and not just the chosen few who are employees of the County.

OK CG it is now your turn to again attempt to defend Vanzant' s actions and leadership.

Any current commissioner who votes for this budget should not be re-elected in August. But wait! I am willing to bet that they will delay this vote until after the elections.

Respectfully,

GTC

Now I know why Vanzant and her loyal family and friends don't like WAB. Bet they wet their pants when he asked for this information which should be public for anyone with courage enough to check it out.

Well it is public and they will give it to you when you request specifics--and hen they charge you for the copies--then if you want to question things you can ether call your commissioner who may or may not answer odr hold your breath to be allowed to discuss that in a committee meeting or open court--fat chance there-just ask WAB.

All this bullshit to try and piss people off. Barrett is no different than Obama. He uses numbers and lies to try and scare people. Taxes only went up if your property value increased. Only the ignorant and uneducated will follow him, just like Obama.

I'll not hold my breath for you to tell because I know you can't.

If your taxes didn't go up then they didn't value your property for what it was worth because of being friends. Everyone I talked to's property was valued for more, thus higher taxes.
You must be ignorant and uneducated to post your post.

I would think property values goes up each year unless you just let it go. The ones that went up would pay more taxes. Did someone say their taxes didn't go up

Nothing is more provoking than the truth to a person who prefers a lie.
There is a big difference in your property going up for taxes and going up in resale value. Ask any real estate person, the resale value of property in Giles has gone down over the past ten years while the tax value has gone up on the vast majority.

I'm sure both of these individuals are good people, but I must vote for and support Mrs. Janet Vanzant. Now is not the time for on-the-job training, and in saying that, I am not casting aspersion on the two men who are also running.

Yes, this is Giles County, and we are different from state and federal. Political candidates here don't need to be running around trying to hurt their opponents. Actually, I don't think anyone should do that at any level.
What WAS said is that now is not the time for on-the-job training for the county executive office HERE IN GILES COUNTY because of the radicals and troublemakers. We need someone like Mrs. Vanzant who will stand up to them. And not one negative word was said about her opponents. By the way, we didn't have this little band of unhappy and disgruntled back when Mrs. Vanzant first took office. Thank God we have her now.
Please try to be honest.

One of these guys was the equal of a colonel and a ship commander and that's next to God on a ship.

In one post, in reference to the County Executive Race, the statement is made that “now is not the time for change”.
Over and over I hear the same people repeating this same phrase. Have you ever stopped to think what this phrase actually means? I fully agree that change for the simple sake of change isn’t necessarily very productive and I completely agree that if something is working smoothly you don’t try and fix it.
The question is do you really think that the county is working smoothly or that we are doing all the right things? Before you answer that question consider that of all the counties in Middle Tennessee and most all the counties in the state Giles County is the only one that has actually lost population. Is that what shouldn’t be changed?
While surrounding counties are growing their tax base with jobs and businesses Giles County is spending over $200,000.00 a year for an industrial and business office that has done little to actually grow the county which currently has over a 10% unemployment rate and close to 20% among some ethnic groups. Is this what shouldn’t change?
Over the past eight years, while Mrs. Vanzant has been the County Executive, the county has failed to create a budget that did not use over a million dollars of reserves. The current proposed budget calls for over a million dollars more in spending than is brought in, this is in spite of the large increase in property taxes from the reassessment. Is that what shouldn’t be changed?
During the past eight years the “hospital money” that was supposed to have been in a “lock box” has been spent. Is that what shouldn’t be changed?
Over the past eight years the school buildings have been allowed to deteriorate to a point that some are a hazard to our children. Is that what shouldn’t be changed?
The county has become known as a place where you can only get a “government” job if you know the right people or related to the right person. Is that what shouldn’t be changed?
There is little to no encouragement from the county executive for new business or already established businesses. Is that what shouldn’t be changed?
In the past eight years the rift between the county and the City of Pulaski has widened. Until recently there was no representation on the Airport Committee. There is no effective involvement in the EDC/IDB even though the county is contributing a huge amount of taxes to both. Is this what should not be changed?
Currently Giles County has one of the highest property tax rates in the state. Is that what shouldn’t be changed?
There currently exists an atmosphere of mistrust and preferential treatment. Is that what shouldn’t be changed?

People have always told of their dislike of the way things go.
Found out when James Miller was c. e. and read the newspaper. I liked him and hated the way he was attacked. People always have and always will be unhappy with who ever is elected.

There was some complained about Mr. Wakefield.

Barrett...
Now is truly not the time for a county executive change, because Mrs. Vanzant will not allow you guys to bully her. And why should we take a chance that one of the other candidates would wind up in the back pocket of the radical? The truth is that we shouldn't.
Of course the county is not working smoothly. God made imperfect beings to live in a less than utopian world. You should know that. But, as for Mrs. Vanzant, she is doing a good job in spite of you and your buddies who are constantly trying to hurt her. You really ought to be ashamed.
Let me carry that "now is not the time" idea a step further. We don't need any changes in 7th District that would involve you. Shelly Goolsby of course would be a refreshing change.
Are you suggesting that it's Mrs. Vanzant's fault if the county is losing population? If you are, you and I both know that is a mighty stretch. By the way, do we not have an industrial recruiter who is responsible for at least trying to get some business and industry in here? We do, but you want to put the blame on Mrs. Vanzant.
If there's an atmosphere of mistrust, I would lay that at the feet of the ones who have caused so much trouble here. I don't know about the preferential treatment you mentioned. I always thought people in charge of hiring could hire whomever they please. Has that changed?
Your bitterness toward Mrs. Vanzant is so glaringly obvious. But thank you for helping her out.

6:01,
I'm with you. This is absolutely not the time for on the job training. We need someone with experience and someone who knows how to rule the trouble makers. I'm with you buddy and I see how all these morons ask you to post one thing Vanzant has done well in her job. I understand why you do not post the long list of good things Vanzant has done while in that position and just keep attacking there worthless candidates, aka, the trouble makers. I understand, you are crafty and just getting under there skin. Again I am with you. But I do feel some of the great things she has done should be listed. Now keep in mind this is a partial list and this blog could simply not contain all the great accomplishments achieved by her in that position if they were to be recorded for all to read. So here is a few.
1) Hired Loretta Garner? We know what happened there. Where is our money?
2) Hired Terry Harwell in the financial management office? No conflicts there, but he was hand picked because he was best fit for the job. Does he even have a high school education?
3) Did not allow an interview to Mrs. White. $70,000 settlement to Mrs. White who, although more qualified than others given opportunity to interview for Garner's job, was never afforded that privilege.
4) $200,000 present of taxpayer money given to the United Methodist Church in the form of the Hunter Smith building.

I'm with you and I don't have to read any other candidates web page to know who my support goes to.

Vote Wheel Tax!!! I mean vote Vanzant!!! She may just get it all by the end of her next term.

The 6:01 poster raised a couple of interesting thoughts. First they express the idea that now is “not the time for a County Executive change”. If not now when, after the county has so completely sunk into debt and mismanagement that there is no coming back? I would remind the anonymous poster that Mrs. Vanzant was once untried. I would also ask the poster since they are unable to name any accomplishments by Mrs. Vanzant why should she continue in office after eight years of mediocre leadership at best and total catatonic mismanagement at worst?
You keep referring to “radicals” and based on your imbecilic comments you obviously think I am a radical. Well, if being a radical means believing in the US Constitution, that we are a nation of laws, that every citizen should have an equal opportunity to succeed, that people deserve to keep more of the money they earn and that the government should be a servant of the people and not the people serving the government and that everyone has a personal responsibility for their lives and welfare along with for those who are unable to care for themselves I guess that I would be a radical and very proud of it. You see those are very conservative views and since they are opposite from you and your ilk part of the establishment and thus a part of the problem.
Your implication that neither of the men running for County Executive have either the mental strength or aptitude to deal with opposing views is nothing but a low life slur against both men. Men, who by the way have far more intimate leadership experience than Mrs. Vanzant could even imagine. You should be ashamed of yourself, if you had any shame, for even suggesting that these former military officers would be in the back pocket of anyone.
No one but you has suggested that the county was a Utopia and that was before I came here. What people have suggested and stated outright is that the county has many problems and they are not being addressed adequately by Mrs. Vanzant. Even you have failed to list a single positive accomplishment by Mrs. Vanzant. By the way no one wants to hurt Mrs. Vanzant unless of course the truth hurts.

End of Part One

Part Two

You don’t think there is a need for change in the 7th District commissioners, then you obviously are very supportive of higher property taxes and a wheel tax that Mr. Campbell has been pushing for years and years and is supported by Mr. Harwell and Mrs. Coleman along with Mrs. Vanzant. You must also support the double dipping of and abusive behavior of Terry Harwell along with his homophobic hate speech. You must also support the thievery of Mrs. Coleman along with her putting her debts off on innocent people to pay, not to mention the disrespectful way she plays with her phones during commission and committee meetings.
On the one hand you declare it’s no time for “on the job training” then in the same post declare your support for Mrs. Goolsby who has never even attended a Commission or committee meeting. You should really try to be consistent in your comments if not reasonable.
You ask if I’m “suggesting that it's Mrs. Vanzant's fault if the county is losing population”. No I’m not suggesting it I’m saying it outright. As a result of her passive attitude toward such things as the Industrial and Economic Development of the county, the school system, and outreach beyond the county she bears a large responsibility in the depopulation and the under development of the county. Just look at the passive way she has messed up the development at the interstate exit.
Yes we have an Industrial Recruiter with a $200,000.00 budget that answers to no one but the job of recruiting should be the responsibility of everyone and especially the chief executive of the county.
The atmosphere of mistrust is the direct result of Mrs. Vanzant telling each person what she thinks they want to hear instead of the simple truth.
Here is the most revealing part of your whole backward statement that shows you are still living in the 1930’s. You state unapologetically “I don't know about the preferential treatment you mentioned. I always thought people in charge of hiring could hire whomever they please. Has that changed?” Yes, that has changed, it’s called “Equal Opportunity Employment” and has been the law of the land for many years. No government agency can discriminate against a person for race, religion, etc, etc. It’s that kind of backward thinking that has caused many good people to leave the county and many others to not come here. The ingrained prejudice of some in office is not well hidden. Just look around the courthouse and ask how many people of color are working there, how many who were not born here are working there, how many working in the courthouse have relatives working in the county government.
Your last sentence is filled with just as much wrong information as the rest of your comment. I have no bitterness toward Mrs. Vanzant but I certainly have some bitterness toward the way she has mismanaged this wonderful county and its people.

Now is NOT the time to replace Mrs. Vanzant with an individual who may or may not be in the back pocket of the radicals here. And that is not a slam on either of those two men, but why take a chance. I am fairly certain that at least one of them was recruited by the radicals, and that frightens me. They tried it last time, and I firmly believe their support for him was the reason why he was so soundly defeated. You may kid yourself by thinking a lot of people don't see what is going on, but that would be naïve on your part. And yes, I do think you are one of the radicals.
You stated that I implied that Mrs. Vanzant's two opponents may lack the mental ability to stand against opposing views is a falsehood. I SAID why should we take that chance. And I do believe one of them would be a yes person for the radical faction here. I think you are the one who ought to be ashamed for the way you go after Mrs. Vanzant. You know....holding grudges is not the Christian thing to do. I thought we were to pray for those we think despitefully harm us? By the way, that IS Scriptural teaching. And prior military experience does not automatically denote leadership in a county government role.
End of Part One

The only change I don't think we need in 7th District is having you as a commissioner. You asked, so that's what I think. And your answer to lack of county revenues is to cut back on expenditures. I think everyone agrees with you that expenses need to be cut at all levels of government. And I know that Mrs. Vanzant has addressed this issue. The harsh reality is that there's simply not enough money to go around, and, as I understand it, Hospital Funds were dipped into because of this. The Commission knew that voters would never opt for a tax increase or a wheel tax, so that's what apparently happened. And I am not excusing them for that. I don't think those funds should have been touched. But then again, it would be like a war in this county if a tax increase came up for discussion.
I did in fact mention that now is not the time for on-the-job training, and that was with regard to the county executive office. You knew that, so stop trying to play gotcha. And it is not Mrs. Vanzant's fault that the county is losing population. That's a stretch and you know it. I wish you could get over your bitterness toward Mrs. Vanzant and move on with your life. Do you realize how ridiculous this makes you look and how you are laughed at around town? It's the truth, and you need to hear it.
No, I think the atmosphere of mistrust was caused and continues to be fed by a small group of people who are so hungry for power that they will do and say practically anything to get themselves into positions of authority. That's my opinion.
I don't need a political science lecture from you about Equal Opportunity Employment, so please don't bother. You mentioned people of color. I had to laugh at your "implication" that there is prejudice in terms of race, preferential hiring, etc. Isn't ALL hiring preferential? What a laugh. I think you are grandstanding for black votes and for others out there who may be almost as resentful as you seem to be. Why can't you just move on with your life? As a Christian, your life should be filled with joy. I know mine is, and I thank God every day for my blessings.
You can say I'm wrong for thinking you hold a lot of resentment for Mrs, Vanzant. I along with many others believe that is precisely what is going on with you. I'm sorry, but that's how it looks.
End of Part Two

cg you have slandered two good men while condemning others for doing the same thing you are. You claim to be a Christian then place judgement on others even the content of their heart.
You do need a lesson on Equal Employment Opportunity because you are the one who said "I always thought people in charge of hiring could hire whomever they please. Has that changed?".
I don't know a lot about Mr. Barrett but I know he ain't scared and when Lisa White needed someone to stand up for her he was the one to do it. You and your bunch think "the best fit " means a white family person or friend, juyst look at the people in the courthouse like Mr. Barrett said. I say look in the schools to cause there is only one black principal and how many department heads. You showed your racism with the hiring thing so don't even go there. I'm gonna vote for Mr. Barrett cause he ain't lied to me.

And nobody has slandered Mrs. Vanzant's opponents. In fact, I'm pretty sure they are honorable men, so please stop lying.
Concerning Lisa White, why did she need someone to "stand up" for her? She could have just as easily got an attorney without someone "agging" her on. I still say an employer has every right to hire whomever he or she pleases.

Well 11:57 you made it very clear, no matter what the law is you think it should be your way. So regardless of the law stating that there must be equal opportunity in hiring you think it should still only be your friends and family who should get the jobs. That is the very reason Mrs. White was denied an interview and the county ended up paying over 72,000 to settle the discrimination suit and yes Mrs. Vanzant was right in the very middle of that sordid mess. Yes I stood up for Mrs. White and a considerable expense I might add and I would do it again because it was the right thing to do. She could have hired an attorney but without the information I gave her there would have been no provable case.

As for slandering the two male candidates for County Executive, you may try to weasel out of the facts but they remain your comments about being in someone;s pocket and questions about their leadership certainly was slanderous and an underhanded attack on their personal integrity and character.
I agree with another poster who stated your felonious attack was an attack against every military leader that has ever been. Your comments were despicable and your feeble attempt to avoid responsibility for them is even lower.

How is that any different than you continuously harping about the campaign signs until mclackluster did something foolish? Oh, I know. It was different because you did that and you don't have to live by the same standards you hold everyone else to. You are a sick man and the fact that you continue to make veiled accusations against vansants opponents while denying the fact is proof of that. Follow your own advice and stop being such a liar. Here's the deal. I believe Mr. Barrett was largely responsible for Ms. White's filing a lawsuit that cost this county $70,000. And, as for Mr. McAlister, he DID NOT move Barrett's signs. Lots of people out that way know this to be true. Apparently, the court found in Mr. McAlister's favor as well.
What lie did I tell? I simply shared my opinions.

Mr. Barrett, did you just admit to costing the county $72,000 in a lawsuit that you provoked? There was no real case against the county. But you provoked a lawsuit out of hatred toward Mrs. Vanzant. CG is the troublemaker here? It doesn't seem like it to me. How can you go on and on about saving the taxpayer money when you personally have cost the county so much out of pure hate, anger, and revenge? That's not very Christian.

If the county had interviewed 100 black people and I was the only white person without an interview, nobody would've fought for me is the point there. It is only unfair and prejudice if I am black. Allen Barrett gave that information and provoked that lawsuit just for the sake of causing trouble.

Vanzant provoked the lawsuit by not interviewing Mrs.White. You can put whatever kind of spin on it you want, it doesn't change the facts. Barrett wasn't the one who decided the issue, now was he? It was evidently a suit with merit or she wouldn't have been awarded a settlement. There are just some things you can't do today no matter if it's in a small, southern town or not. If there was no real case against the county, as the dumbass at 9:02 so foolishly stated, then explain the 72 grand. What biased idiots you people are. I did that, because I knew her sign was there first and because, as Mr. Barrett was quoted in the 8:22 post, I felt it was the right thing to do. The naked truth is always better than a dressed-up lie, wouldn't you agree?
Question. What's the difference between my standing up for what I think is the right thing to do and Mr. Barrett's claiming to do the same thing? As for Mr. McAlister, I honestly believe he was ALSO doing what he believed to be the right thing to do. Apparently, the court believed it as well.

By the way, I stand up for what I believe is right and not wrong. The problem is that you seem to think anything you stand up for is right and anyone who disagrees with you is somehow wrong. Can you see any arrogance at all in that? I had to laugh when you FALSELY accused me of thinking the law doesn't matter.

Inasmuch as "the court"
didn't render a verdict finding in favor of Mr. McAlister, the result was the same and would have gone even worse for Mr. Barrett had the case continued.
You are the one who wants to drag this back up again, and I don't understand why right here at election time. Perhaps YOU are the one who is trying to discredit Allen Barrett or render him impotent? It's a theory.

I don't want your opinion. If you were not in the judges chamber then you can not know. So were you in the room to hear what the judge said?

Also by your own logic, if a settlement is to be taken as a guilty plea by Barrett, the city of Pulaski, and Dean Glossup for settling for a few thousand then I guess old Vanzant and company were really guilty. $70,000 plus guilty of discrimination because of a persons skin color.

And Dan Speer, Rackley and company must be really, really guilty. Why do you not harp on that.

But I have to wonder why when McCallister was suing everyone for 11 million why he would settle for a few thousand? And why do you harp only on Barrett when so many others were defendants in the case? Don't bother answering because we know it is just your sick infatuation with him and your need to attack him.

To the 1:55 poster if Mr McAlister only wanted to clear his name instead of make some money off his eleven million dollar lawsuit why did he sue not only me but Lt. Glossup and the City of Pulaski.

Not only did he not clear his name but sullied it more as information came out about reprimands for excessive force and taking kickbacks while on the Highway Patrol; getting special treatment when he had a vehicle accident left the scene and was under the influence of some very strong medications that clearly stated no driving on the warning label; refused to come to the police department when asked and instead going to Lt.Glossip's home and aggressively "cussing him out"; demanded special treatment when arrested and tried to bully his way into doing the investigation.
I settled for 1250.00 because the other two defendants agreed to settle and it was going to cost a minimum of ten thousand dollars to go into court.
If settling was an admission of guilt then what does that say about Mrs Vanzant who settled with Mrs White; the IDB who settled with Mr. Stevenson; the city for settling with the Doctor; the highway dept. who settled with workers; the county who settled with jail personal and there wasn't even a hazard there; and several other examples.
To me the matter was over but don't think for a moment that I will allow it to be misrepresented.

Hello - Graham Stowe here. An occasional reader but never entered the fray - until now. Because I see someone inferring that I may be in someone's pocket, so to speak. Let me address that clearly.

I'm in nobody's pocket - never have been. I owe no man. Nobody owns me. I have zero political endorsements - don't need 'em. I'm standing on my own record ... see my qualifications at votestowe.com. I don't give people hell, I just speak truth & some people think it's hell. (Thanks Harry Truman!)

Yep, I'm a radical all right. I shoot guns. I have 6 squared away kids & I love my wife. I believe the constitution is law, and I swore an oath to defend it. I believe property rights belong to taxpayers - not bureaucrats & regulators, particularly those of the federal stripe. I believe the county's job is to balance the budget & provide crucial public services, and that those services should be good & efficiently administered. And I believe in 'buck stops here leadership.' (Thanks again Harry Truman.)

I'm the most transparent candidate you'll ever come across. I speak the truth as I understand it, bark off - unvarnished. I've nailed my colors to the mast - no hidden agendas here. Anyone has questions about my motives - ask me. But I hope my motives are clear - I'm willing to serve as County Executive for a short while - then I want to go home. I'm not looking for a second career. And let me emphasize - I will be a public SERVANT. I know who's really in charge, and it's NOT the elected officials. And I'd like to have a lot more public dialogue with the people - those whom elected officials should be serving.

OK - done w/ my rant. Hope I squared away that wrongheaded speculation. Contact me ANY time - votestowe@gmail.com. I'll meet supporters or naysayers anytime, anywhere in the county. Just come into the conversation with an open mind & you'll find me a reasonable person. I probably won't be back for more posts ... but you folks need to promise me - NO MORE GUESSES OR SPECULATIONS ABOUT STOWE ... I'm available - ask & I'll answer.

They throw a fit about the cost of the primary, but have no issues with the amount of money the EDC/IDB wasted because of the way they treat people who want to do business in this county.
David Rackley, maybe you can put the total of how much the settlement, plus court costs and legal fees of the EDC/IDB case versus the $27,000 for the primary. I wonder which one cost more? The legal right by state law to have a primary, or the illegal actions of Dan Speer, David Rackley, and the IDB/EDC?

The facts are simple: one spouse runs for political office while hiding their tight affiliations with the head of the democrat party; The other spouse who is the head of the local democrat party, using a different name than the candidate, attacks the opposing party posing as an uninvolved observer.
Deceit I wish it were only deceit but the level of underhandedness by the democrats goes far beyond simple deceit.

There's a reason why Cheri isn't using her husband's last name. Why don't you call and ask her? You suggest that she is being deceitful. No, you are the one who is trying to make this into something it's not. THAT sir is deceitful. And this is the reason why I could never trust you.

6:51,
Why don't you call and complain to the local news because they stated Mrs. Thomas was deceitful in her statements in the election committee meeting over the primary. But then your agenda is just to attack Barrett, or the opponent you hate, and then claim you don't attack anyone. Just proving you are the enabling liar every one knows you to be.

cg is right, Mrs. Thomas isn't out in the community spreading lies. She uses the newspaper as her forum for that. Now who is arguing semantics cg?

I wonder how many other candidates with an activist spouse who heads a major political party would be allowed to make comments in the media without a disclaimer identifying that person as the spouse of a candidate?
Making the comments attacking the republican party primary while having a spouse seeking an elective office against a republican is indeed deceitful and doing it in such a way as to hide the connection is even more than deceit.

Mr. Barrett...Mrs. Thomas is not being deceitful, and you know it. I hope she writes another letter to the editor about some of your escapades.

Before someone gets their drawers in a wad, I know his name isn't Thomas. Just thought if she didn't use his name he could use hers.
For those that don't know Mrs. Thomas' husband it's Ronald E. Kramedjian. Running for commissioner of 4th District.

Yeah, that puts us 4th district voters in a tough spot. We got a liar, a pro zoner and a mostly no show who spits in a bottle at the meetings. Not much to choose from.

Why is Mr. Woodard not running for commissioner this time? Is his term not up this time or is he getting out?

4TH DISTRICT
TOMMY BEECH*
DUANE T. JONES
ROGER D. REEDY*
RONALD E. KRAMEDJIAN
TIMOTHY N. TURNER (R)

I've heard nothing about Ronald E. Kramedjian, Duane T. Jones or Timothy N. Turner and know thing about them. They may be very upstanding citizens, but could they be in Mrs. Vanzant's pocket?
I doubt Turner is because there is a R by his name.

6:51 I don't claim to know why Ms. Thomas doesn't use her husband's name, but I sure don't blame her. If he was as sharp as she apparently is, he should be using HER last name. Here in the south, names like Kramedjian just scream outsider and carpetbagger. If he used Thomas he could more easily blend in and perhaps be passed off as a local, kind of like using Independent to hide the fact that he's a liberal democrat.

We should all probably be concerned about the commissioners who are currently in someone's pocket. Got to be some personal gain in it for some of the one's pushing for more taxes. Now I'm not making accusations, I'm just asking questions.
