Support For Windows XP Ended on April 2014

This information was taken straight from the Microsoft Official Website for Windows XP
What this means for you
If you continue to use Windows XP without XP support, your computer may still work but will become vulnerable to security risks and viruses. And as more software and hardware manufacturers continue to optimize for more recent versions of Windows, a greater number of programs and devices like cameras and printers won’t work with Windows XP. Windows XP end of support help for business.
Why Windows XP support ended
Windows XP is 12 years old. It’s typical to end service for software as it gets older and technology evolves. Most of us have replaced cell phones and even our cars over the last 12 years – now it’s time to replace your Windows XP computer with a new PC. Or you can check to see if your Windows XP computer can run the new Windows. We’ve outlined your options and are here to support you as you make your next step.
Help protect your personal files
We want to help your personal files, photos, etc. stay secure. To help ensure they stay secure, you’ll need to either upgrade your Windows XP machine to the new Windows (which may not work, learn more) or get a new Windows PC. If you get a new Windows PC we’ll help you migrate your files, photos, and more for free.

Thanks to a poster for reminding me to post this. More information is available at  Microsoft Windows XP on the net.

There was already a thread about this, dumbass at 7:04. I'm not CG by the way.

There was not a tread about this there was one about a commissioner warning that the county government has a lot of computers running XP and no plan for what to do with it.

This tread is about having the XP operating system and warning people about continuing to use it. It has nothing to do with the government, anybody in the government or Vanzant or Barrett . It's just a warning to try and help people not get hacked and have someone steal their identity and money.

I can't understand when something works why change it. I like windows XP and hate I can't get help from Microsoft with it. I've always went to them on the internet when I had a problem and they worked me through it.
It would be something anyone knew much about computers could fix, but I'm not very computer savory.

I will believe 8:19 when the cow jumps over the moon.

Is a blog not to inform people and let people debate? Why does some people get so upset over what is posted?
Afraid of something?

Dumbass at 8:19, this explains the issue in depth. It lists the system requirements needed to run Windows 8 so the owner will know if he can upgrade his software or buy a new computer. The tone of your post convinces me that you would certainly benefit from this information. FYI other posters, you can always just upgrade to Win 7. It takes fewer resources and Microsoft will offer extended support until 2020.

YES! That is exactly what a blog is all about. However, with this blog, anyone who disagrees with status quo is relegated to the status of being a dumbass or an IGGNORANT BASTARD, and that seems acceptable. There is no debate unless one is willing to be called a host of names, to be accused of trying to hide something, or blindly following those who shouldn't be in elected office. That's the reality.

7:13 Why do you bother to read the blog if you feel this way?

Looks like 8:19 started the name calling on this thread. Someone didn't agree with him/her. Looks like that is the way it is always going to be. If they can't debate with acting childish, their day will come when they meet the Lord.

This topic has to be the most non political impersonal topic that could possibly be put on here and still cg turns it into an attack on him and his friends. Why can't people stay on topic.t

With the end of XP support from Microsoft one would think people would be sharing information on alternatives. However there is the few that can not deal with that. A move from XP to windows 7 is not major and unless you have an old computer in most cases it will be compatible. If your computer is to old it might not be a bad idea to upgrade to something new.

1:04 Sorry but it's a pain for me. I like the way my old programs work and some of them just don't work with 7. It means buying a new programs also. Got new computer and found that out. Just praying my old relic want bit the dust yet so I can work off the internet with it. I really rather just use one computer.

I would also like to see people stay with the thread and stop trying to make mountains out of molehills.

Seriously CG, that has to be the most ridiculous post I have ever read. How can you ask for the attacks, as you refer to them, to stop and then make a comment like that on a topic that couldn't be farther from politics? I don't usually say anything about what you post, but you really need to take a long, hard look at what motivates you to do things like this. I'm not trying to be hurtful, I'm just getting concerned about you.

7:13 You really think we didn't notice you was saying WAB shouldn't be elected without calling his name.

That was an attack against him.

I don't care if WAB is elected or not but will always point your attack on him out.

1:47 you can sure keep your old computer and continue to run XP. It would be a good idea to look into alternative programs that will still keep you out of harms way on the Internet.

1:47 You aren't alone in not wanting to change from Windows XP. I think of myself as being like the county official that said a few years back, "This is the way we've done it for 200 years and it works."
I'm not fond of change.
What I worry about is if my computer crashes I've been told I can no longer get WindowsXP.

I don't know much about computers.
Dick, you said look into alternative programs that will keep me out of harms way on the internet.
Would you please explain that for and old woman. I started to say like you would a child, but my three year old grandchild probably knows more about the computer than me. He plays those games I know nothing about.

6:59 You might want to take your computer to a local shop and have them load a security program for you, if you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself. You'll then be able to continue using XP with a secure Internet connection.

I agree with what Dick said, 6:59. Also, if you have friends or family who are fairly computer literate, there are many fine anti-virus and anti-malware programs available online that are completely free. One of these will go a long way towards protecting you.

I have Norton Anti Virus on my computer. Sorry I misunderstood what you were talking about. I've had one computer to crash and it wasn't a virus, not sure why but the one I carried it so buy a new one. Afraid that will happen again and I want to stay with XP.

You will NOT get windows XP if you have to but a new computer. It would be dumb to even stay with XP unless you have to do so. Seriously, it's close to CG and Allen Barrett dumb. It may even be closing in on Ray stupid.

Wow 7:18, you might be more convincing if you knew what the hell you were talking about. You can still purchase XP all day long at virtually any store online. I'm sure even someone like you of less-than-average intelligence could even install it. Does it bother you overly much to be wrong all the time or have you just gotten used to it. My guess would be the latter, dumbass.

My my 8:36, aren't you the brave one threatening the impossible behind your shield of anonymity. Get on eBay, dumbass, you might be surprised what you can buy. Oh, my bad. Get someone to get on eBay for you, it's probably over your head. I'm sure there's lots of things you don't remember, like I called you special first and you couldn't come up with anything original so you used that term for me. How pathetic you must be. It's no secret where to find me, and my nose is way too symmetrical as it is. Why don't you come ahead and break it for me. Have your insurance paid up first, though, cause it's gonna cost you.

Ray

FYI, there's a word that's been used down through history for people like you. I believe it's...coward. Yeah, just a dumbass coward. Now go ahead and tell your mommy on me. Maybe she'll come and break my nose cause you sure as hell ain't gonna do it.

Oh and for the record, dumbass, you didn't say anything about buying a new computer. Re-read your dumbass post, dumbass. You said "but" a new computer. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I'm sure it's some kind of code for "people like you."
