Will There Be A March From Minor Hill To Pulaski O 18 July 2015

Currently there are plans being made by a group from Fisk University to march from Minor Hill School to Pulaski in what they refer to A MARCH AGAINST FEAR. According to the E-Mail I have this is more a march against southern heritage than against fear. The justifications for this march are mostly based to pure fabrications.

The E-mail is dated 6/29/2015 is from an Edward Trimmer (trimmer@martinmethodist.edc).

The e-mail states that they "seek local churches or groups who have vans that they are willing to share in transporting marchers".

This is from the body of the email: "On July 18,2015, students from the historic Fisk University in Nashville invite all who seek racial equality, social justice and peace to march 14 miles from Minor Hill, Tn to Pulaski,Tn. in an effort to grow a moral movement for positive social change. This march will be in solemn commemoration of the victims of the Emanual AME massacre in Charleston, SC. and embarked upon because we believe it’s time to move forward together in the spirit of unwavering hope and love that will dispel the hatred that’s forever changed those families and many throughout the country”.

So far this sounds like a legitimate movement in support of the family struck down in the senseless murders by a depraved man in South Carolina but then this next paragraph appears and a more sinister activity is unveiled.

“We have chosen the route from Minor Hill to Pulaski based on data from the Southern Poverty Law Center that indicates that Tennessee has 29 active hate groups- more than any of our surrounding states. In February a Tennessee man and member of a Klan -affiliated church was fined and sentenced to jail for burning a cross in an interracial couple’s yarding Minor Hill. Just 12 miles away, the small town of Pulaski is known as the 1865 founding sight of the KKK and the modern-day epicenter of that supremacy. Every October the town plays host to the Ku Klux Klan’s “Heritage Festival” where racist skinheads, neo-nazis and klansmen have flocked for decades. The knights and their families march up and down the street with KKK flags, selling racist tracts, pins and Klan robe patches.”

It is not by chance that the route from Minor Hill to Pulaski has been chosen by this badly misinformed group. Sam Davis, the boy hero was captured in Minor Hill and wrongly hanged in Pulaski where a monument now stands.  The Southern Poverty Law Center has lost so much credibility due to their own racially biased views that the FBI recently dropped them as a source for information on hate crimes and activities.

“We recognize this as proof that our racist history isn’t just back to haunt us. It never left. We know we live in a country where racist violence exist — unabated and unreconstructed — both in symbol and in policy”.

Clearly this is at least in part an effort to continue the current attack on all signs real and imagined of southern heritage.

I understand that this group currently does not have a parade permit, will they be allowed to march without a permit. In consideration of the extremely dangerous for any group to be walking, even single file is dangerous, this thing should be stopped before it accomplishes the mission of hysterical separation.

Want to check this out call the mayors office. I have the email

Wrong. You must have a permit to parade on the streets of Pulaski legally. Must get it at City Hall or be fined.

Let's not get all hot and bothered. The only thing that is getting people riled up is the poorly phrased "plays host to." I know that the city officials have tried to think of a legal way to block the Klan from doing its annual pathetic little gathering, and I also believe that the whole city is proud of how we handle it -- basically by leaving them alone in their hatred and misery. So can't we welcome these people who want to commemorate the lost lives in SC and show support for tolerance and understanding? Can't we use this as an opportunity to educate that as a city we do not welcome the KKK, but rather that we have to tolerate them because the constitution protects their right to gather, no matter how dreadful their cause?

12:51 To the extent that we tolerate racist statements and behaviors, we condone an atmosphere that leads to racially motivated acts of violence or discrimination or unfair treatment. Just this weekend my mother-in-law used a racial slur and then got bent out of shape when my husband called her on it. But I think that if you sit silent, you encourage it. I think when we support and participate in activities that promote fairness, tolerance, and caring for our fellow human beings, like the proposed march in memory of the SC dead, we contribute to an atmosphere that is more in keeping with our ideals.

Tolerance - the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with:

When will my views begin to be tolerated, when will people stop trampling on my heritage under the wildly mistaken idea that it was all about slavery. I never owned a slave, nor has any member of my family as far back as I have traced to our homeland in Ireland. I did have an uncle great uncle and grandfather from several generations that was taken a prisoner by the English and was brought to Boston and sold as a slave in a slave auction. Every other person on that ship was also sold into slavery and they were all white Irishmen. Here is a perfect example of how the ignorance that surrounds slavery causes so many to act foolishly this is directly from the email, "Just 12 miles away, the small town of Pulaski is known as the 1865 founding sight of the KKK and the modern-day epicenter of that supremacy." While there is no doubt some lingering racism on both sides of the fence, I certainly would not consider Pulaski the "epicenter of racial supremacy" and I haven't seen a Klan march here in a number of years. The point is while we certainly are not perfect and there needs to be better communications and interactions we do not need a bunch of outsiders coming in here (if Ferguson is any example they are paid protestors) and stirring things up in a very negative way and inviting the Klan and their groups to come back and start this whole thing over again.

If they march and someone in Minor Hill needs an ambulance how will it get to them if the road has to be blocked for a lot of marchers? If it's hot that day (an it usually is in middle of July) hope they enjoy the 14 mile walk.

You'll sit there for 20-30 minutes or more bgecause they won't bunch them up into 8-10 groups with 10 minutes between the groups. What if somebody needed emergency care and was hauling themselves or their love one to the hospital themselves???

This may be a good quiet march and it might not be.

I think the boy that did the killing in SC needs to be hung.
That was a terrible thing.

We should all be together on the White House steps protesting Obama for causing this mess.I love all American. What we should be protesting is all the Islamic people here non Americans.

I would imagine they picked Giles County because of the unfortunate association the KKK keeps trying to perpetuate with us, the fact that a cross was burned recently in Minor Hill, and geographical proximity to Fish University. It's a close place that makes sense to them.
If you don't want them to think that Giles County is the "epicenter" of the KKK, how about we "play host" to THESE people, who have a stated mission of love, to show that we DON'T approve of exclusion or hate.
For goodness sake, if a bunch of folks want to take a long walk down a Giles County Hwy in the middle of summer, it's not going to hurt you in the slightest. Unless some total moron tries to disrupt them. Just go on about your business, the way you do when those idiots in sheets are around. Or, better yet, line the walk and hand out lemondade and popsicles to show that you can play host with Southern hospitality. There's no "sinister agenda" here. They just want to be on the right side of history, and feel like they're doing their part to end hate. Do your own part and get on with it.

1:32 Why do you think 8:29 might be a member of KK? I didn't see that in the post.Sounded like we should all get along.
I thought the KK came from Mississippi or somewhere else when they marched in Giles County.
For me I don't think the KKK, Skinheads or this group from Fisk should march on such a long strip of a main road.

If they march around a square where people still have a way getting on another road. ok You know the road will have to be blocked.

Remember the Yankees burned a lot of the papers in Giles County courthouse. Do you want to hate anyone from the north because of that? I don't hate anyone from the north because of that, but sure wish they hadn't threw those papers away. Maybe I could of found my ancestors.

4:40-Are we actually equating burning papers with keeping people as slaves or shooting them while they are at church? Seriously.
I KNOW that the Union Army commited atrocities, so don't start listing them. This is not about "hating" anybody. Fisk's stated purpose is to move forward in "hope and love". Does that sound like hatred to you? And who freaking cares if they walk along that long stretch of road. It's their legs. Why would it have to be blocked? They can walk along the shoulder, people do it every day. The fact that people are freaking out about this march when the freaking Klan shows up regularly is astonishing to me. Surely to goodness if we can ignore those idiots in sheets we can deal with pretty much any form of free speech.

And suggesting that it would be these people's fault if that Klan came back to start a problem is beyond absurd, it's backwards. It's not going to hurt us to have "outsiders" and "strangers" coming in. For goodness sake, are you playing dueling banjos over there? Are we ashamed to have them come take a look?
Why don't we WELCOME these people? Hand out bottles of water. Say "Hey, we hate ya'll got the wrong idea, we're really all about peaceful free speech?" Get some of THOSE pictures on the media.

Sherry, Did your ancestors own slaves or were they the slaves?

I think it was awful to own slaves. England had slaves at one time and they weren't black.

That's in the past and needs to stay there, no one today can help what happen in the past.

The boy/man that did the killing needs to get what's coming to him by the law and others need to stay out of it. All we can do now is be sure we teach our children to love God and their fellowman.

I apologize that for some reason I could not simply cut and paste the entire email, so my feeble attempt to transcribe parts of the email resulted in my leaving out one vital comment.

The comment clearly states part of the real purpose these individuals seek to march.

"We'll call for an end to the Jim Crow culture of intimidation existing in the formal displays of historically racist symbols and iconography such as the Confederate battle flag".

People keep talking about a cross being burned recently in the yard of an interracial couple. Why isn't more specifics given about this? Where and when did this take place? When was the person sentenced , for what and how long was the sentence?

I am Caucasian, if that's the question. The "cross burning" was in Minor Hill. Some have said the guy was drunk, as if that makes it less of a racist crime. He meant to emulate the KKK, obviously that implies race.
No, I can't change the past, but what's going on TODAY and in the future can change. If you think racism is gone, you aren't paying much attention. Probably because your particular group isn't suffering from the direct effects of it. Dylan Roof (the church shooter) is a racist. He learned that somewhere, as nobody is born that way.
You say you're against a group coming to march because the KKK is part of our history. Do you get online and rant in all caps when the KKK comes as well? If not, ask yourself WHY.
It's been fun, but the fundamental absurdity of arguing about this groups right to invoke their right to free speech in Giles County, on a blog entitled "gilesfreespeechzone" is weird. As is somebody ranting at me in all caps about being proud to be a white american. It's not an achievement you went to school for, you were just born that way. As was I. I am proud to say that the notion of some folks marching against fear doesn't make me fearful. Have a great day, ya'll.

7:09 Apparently you are as ignorant of Northern history as you are about Southern history. The first slaves were brought and sold here by Boston merchants. There were as many slave owners in the northern states as there were in the south. It was not freemen earning a wage that built most of the northern infrastructure but slaves. It was also hundreds of slaves that dug the defense at Gettysburg. While many people of color were volunteering to fight for the south Lincoln drafted both black and whites into the union army which led to the riots all over the north. There is nothing honorable about slavery but that was over a hundred and fifty years ago, it's history the past. Thousands of honorable people on both sides fought for what they believed in and for the vast majority it had nothing to do with slavery.. History should not be altered for political correctness but studied and learned from in order to not so quickly repeat that past.

Seems that many shun history, or worse, have unquestioningly absorbed the revisionist history courtesy of our public (non) education system. If you haven't read any history since your U.S. history class, particularly some from the non-revisionist/non-PC viewpoint, then you just have to accept that you're ignorant, plain & simple. Turn off Fox & MSNBC & get to work on a real education.

As to race, we are arguably in worse shape today than we were in the 60s. Black families & communities were relatively stable until LBJ's "Great Society" wrecked them. Divorce & illegitimacy skyrocketed once government stepped in to "fix" things by throwing trillions of dollars around. People used to freely choose segregation, and believe it or not, that yielded relative peace. There was great room for improvement, and that was happening at the local levels until our hooligan government got involved. But ever since our government nanny started trying to force the races together we've had nothing but unrest. Note that blacks were some of the biggest critics of bussing their kids all over creation for the sake of "equality" ... white elites love to use government coercion, and love tinkering with others' lives. Now "We the Ignorant" are their stooges, as we foolishly take the bait and argue over whether blacks should march, and demonstrate incomprehensible ignorance by calling Sam Davis a traitor. Reading this blog makes me feel that we're truly doomed.

Folks, disregard the media & illiterati - just use your own noggin. Let the good, peaceful people march ... if their complaints merit support then they should earn that support with reasoned arguments . Let the KKK hold their little conventions, and let's thumb our collective noses at them, because they're ignorant bigots - evidenced by their behavior. Don't be afraid of people exercising their liberty, or contrarians having opinions that vary from the mainstream. Democrats, Republicans & the media have completely botched our society, wrecking both black and white culture while trying to foment continued civil unrest. Our only hope is an educated citizenry, and a brazen self-reliance that dismisses the idiocracy.

We were unaware of the White European Heritage festival last year while we were at the Farmer's market. Then, as it has been for the past 20 years, they were virtually ignored. If you have never seen the Lifetime special on Pulaski, you should watch it. It's called "Healing the Hate", I think. After the KKK and the ACLU sued Pulaski 20+ years ago in order to march, there was more police presence than marchers, who were all from out-of-state. Every business in town, except for one, closed that week end so they would not have to service the hate-mongers. The Brotherhood march the next weekend had hundreds more in attendance and almost no police presence. Who did the media cover?

I love the way Donald is roasting RINOs and minimizing Democrats. He's bringing the issues that really need to be addressed on a national platform in a manner that the Main Stream Median simply cannot ignore.

(The) Donald is an egotist ... just because his immigration message resonates doesn't mean he's this country's political messiah (as he apparently believes himself to be). I do love the fact that he's flustering the ever-growing herd of empty suits masquerading as Republican statesmen. But it's also hard to trust the American voters to sift through the media generated manure, because the TV-conditioned herd of blockheaded humanity are suckers for every telegenic huckster selling a politically-correct sob story (e.g. "I feel your pain" Clinton, "Compassionate conservative Bush, and our most recent buffoon, Mr. "Hope & Change.") After several decades of "multicultural" brainwashing gibberish from government schools & the entertainment industry, we'd have to be awfully naive to think American voters are savvy enough to strain out the political nonsense and nominate godly, righteous, constitutional candidates for 2016. Which quite possibly leaves fellow blowhards Trump & Sanders as the best we have to hope for ... God help us.

And Obummer is not an egotist? That arrogant asshole thinks he's allah's gift to the human race (if you are a person of colour or a muslim). Get your head out of your butt and be independent of the MSM-hype. Look around for yourself. Be your own self, don't be a sheeple and believe the news stories that ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN or FOX tries to present in the manner in which they present it.

Go Donald !!! Force the major political parties to address the REAL problems this country is facing.

9:44 Trump supporters are on the right track because he's non-establishment. But he's also a demagogue who believes the iron fist of government - in the right (his) hands - can be our salvation. In other words, he's a statist. Just like Bernie Sanders, a socialist statist. Just like Obama, a Marxist statist. Trump is just a neoconservative statist. They're probably the best the mainstream parties can offer us. Which tells us that our mainstream 2-party system is flat bankrupt.

Pal, if you support a statist for President then you're squarely in the sheepfold, bleating for a political savior. Sorry, you've got a ways to go before you can claim sheepdog status. Trump has said nothing to persuade me that he'd do anything to dismantle oppressive federalism ... has said nothing about state sovereignty or the 10th Amendment, nothing about individual freedom.

You're telling me to be independent of MSM-hype? That's easy ... I don't watch TV or listen to idiot talking heads. I simply suggest you Trumpletons give your guy a bit more scrutiny. He's on-target with immigration ... and he's great for calling out the Republican empty suits ... but he's no fan of individual liberty.

11:13 -it's call "The Internet", it's called Talk Radio (WWTN 99.7 FM and WBNN 92.5 FM for this area) and then there are reading materials - books, both current and historic on both religion, history and politics.

Try: http://www.bizpacreview.com/

or Google ==> Media Research Center

These are just a few examples.

What's the difference in watching the news on TV and listening to talk shows on the radio? Don't they both say about the same thing? They have favorites same as
TV news men or women.

I haven't heard any candidate I'm ready to vote for. They all stink one way or another.

5:28 - If you're seriously interested in finding alternative news, issues and facts not served up by the presstitutes, start with LewRockwell.com (libertarian), TheAmericanConservative.com (paleoconservative & anti-GOP establishment), then the Freeman (fee.org), then head over to mises.org & zerohedge.com for economics & markets. Not endorsing everything on the websites, but they sure give one perspective. Also, get a shortwave radio & listen in on some domestic & international news broadcasts ... you get very interesting viewpoints on our foreign policy - it makes one think.

Getting quality news SHOULD make one think. Being a sedentary sponge, soaking up all the rantings of talking heads, is pointless in my opinion, if not downright lazy. Most of those people are entertainers first, and propagandists second - bought & sold by a handful of big media outlets. Hey, those entertaining propagandists are fun once in a while - I enjoy them too. But their popularity as "news" outlets explains why we're so balkanized & completely unable to debate cultural issues without first being conditioned by Hannity, Limbaugh, or (insert Leftist/Marxist name here), et al. I do think our Nashville 99.7 station provides a lot of good news and debate, although I think most of those broadcasts (if not all) are owned by Cumulus Media.

The KKK is alive and well in Giles County Tenn. At least one of their principals, Dana Cobb of Elkton, is a card carrying member. Her husband holds rank in the local chapter and her son is a local skin head. She hates black and only tolerates those who she can control.

Her daughter is married to a nice black guy in Columbia and Mrs Cobb helps unlimited numbers of black students achieve in school. SHE DOES NOT HATE BLACKS. GO SPEW YOUR POISON SOMEWGERE ELSE. YOUR KIND ISN'T NEEDE IN GILES COUNTY. GOD FORGIVE YOUR ATTITUDE.

Boy I thought to be my brothers son-in-laws was the kiss of death. Poor guys can do nothing right according to him, but it looks being principle at Elkton has taken over that spot. Dr. Gonzales was attacked when he made needed changes, Donna Cobb came along and smoothed feathers for awhile and ran a good show also but now it is her turn to be attacked. I assure you Mrs. Cobb and Dr. Gonzales can stand the heat and could care less what these pathetic people say.

I don't think there is a KKK in Giles County today.

7:24, you post the definition of "free speech" along with the citation from where you obtained. You liberal progressives are all alike. It's only "free speech" when whatever is said supports or falls inline with your point of view. Quit whining.

I'll "degrade" (your words) people anytime I want to up to the point of libel or slander, if or when it is warranted. That, 7:24, is what "free speech" allows. Free speech is is what it is, the ability to express facts, questions and/or opinions about any thing, any person or any situation as one pleases. You have no right to abridge that freedom recognized and secured to me in writing in the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

For instance, in my opinion, I believe obama is a muslim who is practicing Taqiyya - look up Taqiyya. He hates the USA and his refusal to enforce the immigration laws currently in place and secure the boarders of this country is destroying this country. You, I, our children and theirs are going to irreparably suffer from his violation of the powers granted to the executive branch of our federal government. It's a stated opinion, but his actions seem to support my opinion. I have no proof other than to objectively look at this country's situation and see if reality meets my suppositions.

And by the way, you 'tards who are constantly making these brash, straw grasping accusations on this blog, grow up. State that you are making an opinion when that is what it is and support what you believe are facts with demonstrable proof or evidence when you it goes beyond being an opinion.

3:17 you state for certain that Donna Cobb's husband is a member of the KKK. What is your proof? And even if he was, so what? The majority of the people who vote in this county continue to reinstate the status quo.
