New Request For Action From Ethics Committee
News has come to me that a new letter to the County Ethics Committee has been sent requesting they take action against Commissioner Campbell.
The letter, I am told, asks that the Ethics Committee meet, discuss and vote to sent a request to the full County Legislative Body to issue a public censure of Commissioner Campbell.
The County Ethics Code adopted in 2007 states, "The Committee may, in the case of an official, refer the matter to the County Legislative Body for possible public censure if the County Legislative Body finds such action warranted."
Commissioner Campbell is scheduled to appear in court on 17 October 2017. I understand that this will be merely a preliminary appearance to set a date for an actual trial sometime in January or February 2017.
I have been told that discussions have been held to form a deal that would drop some charges and allow Commissioner Campbell to plead to lesser crimes.

Good to see that someone else reads the law . Maybe this time the Ethics Committee will do what needs to be done by referring the matter to the full county commission . Hopefully that body has more fortitude than the Ethics troop and will vote to SUSPEND Campbell until his case is settled in court .
Meanwhile until that happens he keeps on showing up at county meetings to collect his Shakespearean pound of flesh (tax payers $$ )
There are people who can do something. They can only ask the DA or CA to investigate. It is up to the DA whether he wants to pursue the issue. He is not required to do anything. You just have to hope he will, but as in another county north of Giles a State Rep husband was caught stealing and the DA did nothing because they were both Republican elected officials and the thief was let go. POLITICS. Could that happen here? Of course. Campbell can only be dismissed by a Judge in a court trial no matter how guilty he is. You are only part right 1:16 Barrett posted the Ethics Code that compels the Ethics Committee to meet and decide whether to send the complaint to the Full Commission for a decision to "PUBLICLY CENSURE" Campbell. This is not about an "OUSTER" or a "SUSPENSION" although it should be but the Committee has already shown their distaste for doing a suspension.

There seems to be more criminals per capita or Delta Alfa's in Giles County that there are in the Democratic executive branch of our federal government.

The letter requesting a censure by the full Legislative Body is an opportunity for the commissioners to state formally what many have privately stated. It would be a statement that the behavior Commissioner Campbell has been charged with is not only despicable in every sense but that they condemn it
Censure is exactly what 8:42 said it was. There was NO criticism at all on his part. Just an explanation. Of course the Legislative body is totally against Campbell.
Would someone please tell me why a policeman or school teacher can be suspended until proved not guilty when they are accused of wrong doing?

I have been led to believe that when typing text messages and post on this blog that all capitol letters is a form of yelling at the reader. Perhaps it was just a matter of placing extra emphasis on the statement. When I read, "4:00 Do you know what "censure" actually means? It is to make charges known. I still maintain that as the word "censure" was used in the original statement on this blog it haw nothing to do with making the charges known but as I previously stated the word censure means to express severe disapproval of (someone or something), typically in a formal statement and that is what I understand was requested by the letter writer.

The events that took place in the Giles County Court Room yesterday were beyond atrocious. While every "poor" defendant was paraded across the room and had their charges read for public consumption, one defendant was conspicuously missing and their charges were very quietly taken care of outside the hearing of the public.
Commissioner Tommy Campbell was absent yesterday from the Court Room, apparently choosing to let his high priced and very capable attorney, Mr Massey, tend to the time consuming stuff. So Commissioner Campbell avoided the unpleasant task, others were required to endure.
Speaking in confidence with several members of the legal system, I was told a deal was in the making to have some charges dropped and others reduced in severity. I believe that the charges of shoplifting, coercion of a witness and prohibited weapons will be dropped. The aggravated assault and aggravated statutory rape will be reduced to simple assault and statutory rape.
The sexual exploitation of a minor may end up as only one count. I do not believe all the charges will be dismissed or reduced to the point that he ends up with only probation, regardless of the state of his health. I also believe that his defiant refusal to resign from the Giles Legislative Body will be a negative in this consideration.
I believe that the only reasonable punishment is for him to be stripped of his official position, a minimum of three years incarceration, ten years on probation and placement on the Sex Offender Registry for the rest of his life, anything less should be an outrage to reasonable people.
Let's be clear, it is not only Campbell who is on trial here but also Giles county and the judicial system within this county. The outcome will tell the citizens of Giles county everything they need to know about what goes on with these very corrupt and unethical people.
If Campbell gets off from this, it should send a shiver down every citizens' spine. Reason? It means that you can rape a child in Giles county and if you are a person with connections you can get away with it.
Keep your kids close to you around ANY leader in Giles county. They are all complicit in this by their actions...and silence.
Oh, and don't forget to look for them in church...good christians that they are. LOL

Won't the prosecuting attorneys have a say in whether the charges are reduced, dropped or whatever? Won't they have some say in this? I would certainly hope they hold his feet to the fire. He has nothing to bargain to reduce his charges. All Massey and Campbell can do is ask for these charges to be reduced and then it will be up to the prosecuting attorneys and the Judge to agree to this. And if he and his attorney is trying to get him off because of his health, well his health didn't stop him from doing these things and they've got doctors in prison. Send him on.

On Monday, 17 October 2016, Mr Bob Massey attorney for Commissioner Tommy Campbell filed a scheduling order with the court which set a settlement date for 23 January 2017.
On that date one of three things will happen:
1) a request for a continuance can be sought
2) A date can be set for trial or
3) a plea agreement can be accepted and the case dismissed.

I can assure you all, this matter is not going away, he may think it is. People in general are tired of dirty politics and politicians. Big protests are already in talks if this were to happen. Count on it!

Because Mr. White is a private citizen I have no comment on his arrest other than to confirm, for the sake of accuracy, that he was arrested on 10/21/2016 as a pre-felon. He is scheduled for a court appearance on 28 November 2016 to answer charges of Assault CR-13355 and Sexual Battery CR-13355.

Does somebody that is presumed innocent get taken to court in a orange suit and chained to another person? We like to think that justice is blind and everyone is treated the same but the reality is that those with money get treated very different and everyone arrested is considered guilty by the justice system.
A new ethics complaint has been filed by a county resident against Commissioner Tommy Campbell.
It requests that in accordance with County and State regulations, that the Ethics Committee send to the Full Legislative Body a request that Commissioner Campbell be Censured by the County Legislative Body.
The Ethics Committee, chaired by Commissioner Pollard, is schedule to meet on Tuesday 15 November to discuss and vote on this matter.
Well, the Ethics Committee met and to no one's surprise they allowed the County Attorney to dictate "NO ACTION" instead of reading the statute for themselves and sending the complaint to the full Legislative Body. There was even a suggestion that the Ethic's Committee be done away with, guess Mr. Williams failed to mention that it is required by the state.
I have been asked, "Why is the Ethics Committee protecting a sex pervert". I don't really believe that the Ethics Committee is trying to protect a "sex pervert", those are good people on Ethics Committee and most are strongly opposed to Commissioner Campbell being allowed to remain a Commissioner but they have been misled and scared into believing that the County will suffer severe financial consequences if they do anything prior to Mr. Campbell's trial.
I do not believe that the problem exist within the Legislative Body of the County or with the Ethics Committee but with the County Executive and the County Attorney: The County Executive because it is her leadership that, for the most part has prevented any thing being done to one of her favored commissioners and the County Attorney because of his misguided belief that he works for the County Attorney instead of the people of Giles County, both these problems would disappear if they would put the interest of the people above their own personal interests.
