I ran across a 6-8-6 letter to Gonzales & Jackson from their attorney at Lewis King. I assume it is paid for by the citizens, hired to make sure the sun doesn't shine for the fee paying citizens of Giles County.
It isn't a legal search for a better way to inform and advise the citizens. Instead, we find ourselves paying a lawyer to tell us that the sunshine law is whatever Gonzales & Jackson wants it to be. Because there is no number of days notice, notice can be whatever the C.O.B. wants it to be. Because there is no penalty, what are you going to do about it ... bang your head on the floor??? The lawyer found a logical answer for those who think they can void any hasty decisions in the closet.
The silver bullet is the conclusion - "The board meeting in question was called, inter alia, ("beam me up!") - for the purpose of transferring funds so that the financial obligations of the school district could be paid in a manner consistent with law and generally accepted governmental accounting and auditing standards. Or, to put it a different way, the school board was attempting to transfer funds already appropriated to it in order to pay its obligation."
On page one of the letter, the lawyer acknowledges that the meeting was for budget purposes, (not payment purposes). The only law that figures here is the law of gravity - if you're flying too high, it's a long way down, & a big bump when you get there. Could it be that when their $2.6 million tax increase went kersplat, it was necessary to dig into some rat hole'd funds that were already there, but nobody knew about ... (the ammmendmmment?) Perhaps the public and a couple of new board members wouldn't understand the high tech recombobulations that are needed when a plan goes awry. For some, it's just different points of view for those who don't have an upper education.
The hand grenade is the words "... so that the financial obligations ... could be paid." Without commission approval, there is no authority to enter into an obligation. Of course, they know that from unfavorable past audit comments - There is no authority to pay without an obligation, receipt, commitment, authority within the school system, and budget authority by the commission. A budget is an authorization only after approval - Were they not trying to concoct a budget to get authorization? The "law" & "generally accepted" behavior appears to be from another planet, unless everything about the meeting involved routine bill paying. If not, how could they cipher all the numbers they found for the ammmendmment?
Payment for a bill designed to subvert public view and generally accepted accounting principles should be paid by those who ordered the services it, not the public! It's just another escapade by the same lofty beings that waved their hand and tossed the bolt of lightening that jailed two upright Giles senior citizens for saying "how can it be". It is, 'cause it is! This is ridiculous.

Sorta off the subject, but anyone wanting to come take a shot at Tee Jackson can do so by coming to the fair and he'll be on the dunking machine. Come one come all. I think it will be Thursday night. You'll have to call someone to find out when. To bad Gonzo won't be on there. The Lion's Club could really make some bucks.

Squirrel season opened on Sept. 1(??) - Seems like Sept. 1, is also the first day of the year long AMENDMENT season. Ya know, $750,000 is a lot of money to find just after going through the budget process! If I remember right, other county departments didn't get their full share of the natural increases in tax revenue for 2006-7, because ... Mr. Jackson didn't have enough ... the same routine we see every year! That amendment locks in all $750K into next years budget - an increase over what the commission passed just a couple of weeks ago!
When will we wake up? Since when did anyone learn anything productive in an education system that rewards deception, while dribbling out the leavings for those who might try to give a little knowledge and those who came to get it? Why manage your money? Just take what you want, before you run out! Do we think the students & teachers can't figure out what is happening? Everything is ahead of basics at the feeding trough. Who will clean the green scuzz off the Adm. $375K face lift next year & all the years after? No problem, the 2007-8 budget is already juiced by $750K. don m

You talk about people waking up. I plan on waking up and attending as many school board meetings as possible. Since Fred Lindsay was so eager to nominate her (Norman) I can't wait to go and see how he votes everytime and how many times she'll botch up trying to run the meetings. Will we get to see intelligence or a clone when she is chairing the meetings. I had heard Mrs. Murray wanted to be chairman of the board. What happen to that? At least Mr. Greene will be able to handle the meetings if Norman is ever out. Mr. Mac you might want to make a blog spot just for Mrs. Norman and happening on the board. That will keep the readers intertained.

When is the next meeting?
Kathy Norman is chairman of the school board. Hartselle, Jackson, and foster tried everyway in the world to keep Mrs. Murrey from running but little did they know that if she had become chairman she wouldn't have been able to do much on the board but keep the peace and direct the meetings. This way Murrey can speak whenever and hopefully she can make some of the brown nosers wake up and smell the coffee. She pulled a fast one on somebody. She's just started. She has more people pulling for her that they are willing to go to any length to tell her everything and anything, but she'll make sure she has it right before she let's it be known. The three musketeers need to start going back to Anderson to meet for lunch. Oh wait she has a close friend in their as well. Where oh where can they hide that she doesn't have someone liking her more and them less. Don't piss her off. She doesn't like it. Call around Maury County about when she worked there and before in Giles County. You don't mess with her and you sure don't mess with the teachers, students and the honest people of Giles County. The school board won't know how to act if they have to go by the rules and by the laws. And if Norman has any sense at all she will learn that she is suppose to chair the meetings and not Tee. The school board is his boss he isn't their's. Just do what is right and maybe the children of our school system will benefit from something. And did Mrs. Norman and Mr. Gonzales go in and teach all of the children of Giles

How so?
Mr. Jackson's contract includes money for things like breaking the sunshine law by eating out with school board members and talking business. His salary is payed by the taxpayers of Giles County. If you don't live in an apartment and not own property then you are paying. And a whole lot more......
He has a $20,000.00 expense account that he does NOT has to account for-in other words we are paying for his whims!!!!!!!

A good crowd is needed at the school board meeting Oct. 5. The board members need to see that the people are fed up and ready to take issue with them. Take an hour or so out for your children and come to a board meeting. The agenda will include the passing of phase one to be started on the new central office building. Let's see if our new board members stick to their promises about not voting for a new building. Another big question is where has jacson been hiding the $750,000 he plans to use to build the building. People have been looking over the budgets for the pass couple years to see where he hid the amount. It came from Capitol Outlay money left to upgrade schools and build Richland Elementary. All the problems that needed to be fixed with the money was not fixed, but hidden for a new building. I would like to run a survey to ask people if they wanted a job bad enough would the looks of the building they are applying in keep them from going in? That was one of the stupid remarks made by a couple of people as to why a new central office building was needed. Mr. J is also allergic to the old musty smell. And why not trench the back with a backhoe to keep water from coming in or seal the door better. It seems that the previous school board, Jackson, Gonzo, Dunivant, Foster, Hartsel,Norman, Houston, Kennedy need to have their names put on an outhouse with the things that crew pulled. That's all they deserve. Jackson wants to sit back, get fatter and enjoy his surroundings. Will his new office be purple with track lighting? And will the board have to keep a manicurist on staff for him.
The school system needs an in-depth audit!
Some citizens begged Mrs. Vanzant to request an audit of the school system and she told them she did order it. They called the state and the state said, “No one has asked for an audit.” She lied!
Wrong anonymous Tuesday, October 03, 2006 6:46:22 AM. There had been an audit ordered and is still being conducted. I guess we have some stupid people on the state level as we do on the local level. Sit back, have patience and see what happens.

Seems I touched a nerve. My, My, My. Do you know who did the audit? Did you know one was requested a few months ago because of the school system not paying their bills on time due to a certain bookeeper employed by the school system? Did you know it was requested by a commissioner? Did you know it was one that is no longer on the commission? Maybe you are out of the loop. That may be why you don't know so much. Your ranting on here sounds familiar...especially when you say "LIE". A lot of people in this county seem to think they know a lot about what goes on in other people's business. Since you seem to want to call a person a liar why don't you identify yourself. I am not Glenda. I don't even work in the courthouse. Ponder on that for awhile.

You didn’t address the request of the in-depth audit referred to in my post by Mr. Barrett and Ramona. Mr. Barrett has explained exactly what happened and you still didn’t give a response and there was no audit requested by Mrs. Vanzant at the time she stated she would.
Mrs. Vanzant is not a commissioner, so, according to you, she still hasn’t ordered an audit.
Explain exactly what loop you are referring to and I will tell you if I am in or out, because there are some loops I definitely don’t want to be a part of and certainly not one you are in.
I did not say the word “lie”, I said, “She lied,” now you prove she didn’t lie to Mr. Barrett and Ramona.

The only business I spoke of and care about is the people’s business “government” not your personal business or anyone else, but, as a taxpayer I have the right to know what is going on.

i find it puzzling that an ex-commissioner could order an audit and get it done but mr. barrett & mrs. flacy couldn't succeed & mrs flacy is a current and past commissioner.
i just wanted to let you know i was the poster that mentioned Glenda's name, so you need to get your fact straight.
mrs. v is the county executive, not you,so why can't she speak for herself? a nice start would be her apologizing to mr. barrett & mrs. flacy for not being truthful to them instead of getting people like you speak for her. she has an opportunity to be a better county executive than her last term but she is repeating her past actions & that is not a good thing for her.if she would just focus on doing what is right for the county and not trying to hold onto her job for another term, she would be more effective. right now she has her behind in a yet another bad situation just like she did with the "land management" last term & that is a problem for her.

This isn't about the "AUDIT". Why couldn't I see it before?? This is all about nit picking BS against our CE. Deal with it! The people spoke and spoke loud. You are right that an audit should be performed. Helloooo....one has and is in progress right now. You don't even know why and audit would have even been requested. I do know. Very few do know. More need to know. But, instead of coming on this blog and ranting and raving, why don't you do so on a level that would gain some attention and bring about accountability. Afterall, isn't that what you want...what we all want?? I know why you don't though. You are a coward that you might not be right or you might have to back up your statements. That is why all these people on here want to condemn every politician in this county, even the ones that fullfill their obligations to the citizens is because they can say what they want and hid at the same time. You think you can make a change and you have such an abundance of incriminating information, then please by all means come forth and bless us with your knowledge. The total subject of my post was the requested audit by Mr. Barrett and Ramona. He has explained, I have explained and so far no response has been given. I strongly disagree with you that it is just all about our county executive and even you think there is “massive wrongdoing in the county” and you want to blast anyone that ask questions? The county executive is involved because of her OWN statements and not following through with her promises. I don’t know how you can separate the two.

I agree with anonymous who says you need to get all three of them together staning face to face in order to get the truth. Is that to hard to do girls and boys? You could meet with Mr. Jackson at Hickory House for lunch ant the taxpayers will pay for it. What about it? Let's get this question solved Monday. I'm sure Mr. Barret would love to be a guest for lunch, and I'm willing to bet that he'll pay for his own lunch, and by Monday evening, he'll have the truth for all of us.

I don’t know what the ties are, but they are definitely there. If the public would attend a “few” meeting and watch how she votes, you will see the ties also.
There will be a School Committee meeting on Thursday, October 19 at 5:00pm. at the Central Office. Please try to attend if at all possible. This will be a good time to express your concerns to the Commissioners on this Committee. They have some very important decisions before them, including the upcoming "REVISED" School budget. Isn't it strange that Mr. Jackson would need to "REVISE" the recently approved budget at an increase of over $1,000,000,000. He cannot be stopped without the input and support of all Giles County citizens. He is nothing more than a professional "CON MAN". Please do not continue to let him "Con" us and more importantly our children. Please contact your School Board Representative and your Commissioners and help us take back our School System.

The budget was passed by the education commission. I can't believe they would have voted to pass it in the education committee meeting when so many things were ?. What were they thinking? Adams and Pollard voted against and the rest voted for. Butch White wasn't present, but T Harwell, Reedy have family, Hughes I am surprised, and Harris were the yes. Where was Beverly?
For those of us that couldn't attend would you expand on your comments more?
Did Tee Jackson not have another raise approved for him? I am wondering were Beverly was also!
This raise was supposedly for the teachers and school support staff. There is at this time no guarantee that the teachers will ever see this money. As you may already know, Mr. Jackson never gave the teachers the money that was approved for them last year. This raise was however approved again Thursday night by a 4 to 2 vote before the School Committee. It must now be presented to and approved by the Budget Committee and then finalized by a vote before the full Board of Commissioners.
The teachers in Giles County along with all the school system staff absolutely and without a doubt deserve this raise. The problem is that once it is approved, without some sort of binding documentation attached, Mr. Jackson will once again have the power to do with the money whatever he sees fit.
I am beginning to contemplate the idea of Jackson using the teacher raises just as a means to obtain money that he wants for other reasons and knows perhaps, the commission would not approve of the other spending.

Speaking of School System nonsense, I guess you might say that Mr. ,Principal, Commmissioner Bill Holt has finally been caught with his pants down. Word has it that he was caught in a rather compromising position with one of the teachers at Southside School this week. After years of sexually harrassing girls at school, who have been too afraid to tell, maybe he will finally be stopped. Way to go Bill, this is just what the school system needs, with all the other problems it has to contend with at this time.
Nah...I doubt ole Bill will suffer any reprecussions. He is a major suck up to our director of schools. Whenever there is a problem of this magnitude they just transfer the person of opposition when there has been a conflict. That is how it is handled. Didn't you know that?? Seems he has dodged the radar for years though. Will be interesting with these comments hitting this blog how things will be handled from this point forward.
This is a very serious charge and I hope there is proof that can be presented. Mr Holt is the number one connection between the school system and the county commission. TJ won't let anything happen to him with out a big fight.
One question is what was he doing at Southsideto begin with?
Who is the teacher involved?
I think someone is just trying to start some major rumors! Where you there? Did you see anything with your own eyes? Have you ever been sexually harrassed by this man?

Isn't bill Holt the principal at Pulaski elementary and you say he sexually harrassed girls-do you mean girls there at the school? Where were these girls sexually harrassed at-can you get some of them to speak up? That is a huge accusation you are not just accusing this man of sexuall harrassment you are accussing him of being a pedifile also!
Before accusations are flung out there you need to be absolutely sure of your facts-rumors will not do you have to have facts-if this man is not guilty of this you could ruin the rest of his life with accusations like that.
I have known Mr. Holt for 20 years and have never seen any kind of improper actions from him. Three of my children attended his school and never a mention of anything improper. I just do not believe this and will not believe this until there is concrete proof and not just a rumor!
You can bet your house the Church of Christ will circle the wagons and defend him regardless of what he has or has not done. How do you think he and many of the others in elected office got elected and has remained there for so many years?

A accusation of being a pedifile warrants is for sexual acts against children-most people consider children to be anyone under 18-this is the age of most school age children regardless of where they go to school.

The recent accusations against Mr. Holt did take place at Pulaski Elementary instead of Southside. Sorry for the mistake, as I was a bit distracted after hearing about this. I had hoped that since he had remarried that he might have changed. I guess as the old saying says "some things never change". The one thing I am thankful for is that I have not heard anything about him harrassing children. He was a Teacher at one of the middle schools when my encounter with him occured. I never even told my parents. I feel that it would have been then just as it is now, most people would not have believed me.
You are probably right in saying; no one would believe you…just take a look at his life. A teacher for many years, a dedicated church member and on the county commission for many, many years and you were just a pre-teen or teenager. But, we have a responsibility to make sure these things don’t continue to hurt so many more teens and children.
This is the first time I have heard there was even a problem with him and quite frankly very shocked, but I don’t have children in the school system as I once did and he was on staff where they attended school. I also think is a disgrace that young people are made to feel like they have to keep their encounters secret. I now have a granddaughter in the local school system and we talk to her constantly about reporting anything she feels uncomfortable with, but we can’t even be sure she will not fear peer pressure or other pressures to keep silent.
May God bless you and guide you through your life and help you realize you are so much more than the encounter you experienced.
I think if a teacher is found GUILTY of such things, he or she should face horrific consequences. On the other hand, I believe the same should be the case for those found guilty of spreading malicious rumors. Without hard evidence we ought to keep our mouths shut, regardless of who is supposdely involved.
I also think it is cowardly and just plain wrong to make charges of this nature on a blog such as this one.
I agree, go to the proper authorities, as someone stated earlier in the blog, as long as this statement is unverified it is still just a rumor.
I know that there are people who have done what was accussed and never had to deal with repercussions because noone would come forward. I'm not sure who you are, but if you were that intent on no one else being hurt by what you experienced why did you not come forward to someone who could help instead of anonnonymous on a blog? Things are not like they used to be, people are willing to believe more now days.
Being sexually active with another grownup is one thing, making passes at school age children is another.
Being you say this happened to you, you need to do something about it beside just talk on this blog. If it happened once it could happen again-and if you don't do something to help stop it wouldn't that be the same and aiding the act?
Yes I do know what I'm talking about my Stepmom went through something similar as a girl but finally did stand up and speak out and the person she spoke out against had not only done this to her put to others also.

I think you my be wrong these two posts seem to be written by the same person. In the second post you can see the posting clearly states I am not spreading rumors. I was just trying to point out the fact that if this person was approached by Mr. Holt and they wanted to stop it from happening again this was not the best place to start they should have went to the authorities with the information first.
I was going by the wording and in saying I thought it was written by another person and not the post that was written by his former student.
Maybe Mr. Holt will post and straighten this situation out.

Amen! You've just suceeded in pointing out the real truth for once on this blog, that 99% of what is written is not true at all and this blog is nothing more than a rumor mill. People spread vicious gossip for their own gratification, because someone made them mad or they didn't get their way, or to suit their own purposes, and people just believe it even though it is all written without any proof whatsoever. If there was any doubt before this, there can be none now.
By the way, "word has it" Tee Jackson is really an alien sent from another planet to steal the knowlege of earth! So I guess you all believe that too...

That is So true of a lot of people who post on here. Talk about drama....some people love contention and having something stirred up. And if you disagree with them, woe be unto you! As has been stated numerous times, it is a shame.
Alot of people who post on here are not trying to spread rumors. They are upset about what is going on and can not openly express how they feel because of repurcussions. If you notice most of the post are about Giles County Government and the way they handle taxpayer money. But then there are also those who use this blog to personally attack someone else-which is not the purpose of this blog at all, it was intended for people to use to get credable information out so people could stay informed about the goings on in Giles County. There will always be those who will take advantage no matter what you do.

So, if I am "harmed" by what a principal says about me and puts in my records at school, can I hold that person liable and sue them whether what that principal writes is true or false?
I really need to know the answer to this question and it has nothing to do with Mr. Holt.
PS. What is the definition of "harm" and how is it proved?
Well, looks like they are not only after Bill Holt and Ms. McMasters. They are now grilling Foster Harlow on another thread. They seem to thrive on contention and strife. THAT is truly shameful......to quote Mr. McPeters! I'm sure they will be calling for full and immediate investigations.
Anybody see the the big boy from the little red schoolhouse do his thing again down at the courthouse? Poor baby ain't had no allowance increase since at leasxt a month or two back. Just dont no waddya do woith out it, so they filled his bottle up with your money & he toodlydoodin right on his way for another month or so.
Does anyone still wonder about the bus garage bid rigging that went on last winter before Hartselle and Foster left? The DA has the info but needs a little push by the people to investigate the deal. Please use this blog to make comments to the DA to not let this drop. It may be the only way the system can get rid of Jackson.
what about that old out dated wrecker?sure is nice to know those guys have that oh so safe piece of equipment out on the roadway.what happens when it comes apart and kills those guys or some unlucky bystander?let me guess patch it and get it ready for the next goround? sounds like to me ol T needs to think about more than his pretty little building.
The only reason Tee Jackson is doing anything at the bus garage is because if he didn't the insurance company was going to drop the insurance on it because they were afraid the 2nd story floor would fall in on someone-Tee Jackson tried to make people believe that he was doing it to help the people who work down there, he would not have done anything if it hadn't been for the insurance company. He had been given over 100 thousand dollars a couple of years ago to do repairs on the bus garage and he spent it on plans for his new office. He is going to make sure he gets to work in something up to date, and all he does is sit on his rearend and spend our hard earned tax dollars. Thank you for such a wonderful job Tee Jackson-I'm surprised you can still show your face around town!!!!!!!!
Well everyone had better be prepared to be at the next meeting Feb 8, it is my understanding Tee Jackson is getting a big raise and an extrension until 2012.
School board meeting time changed to 6:30 pm. Same day. Be there or don't gripe. If you are wanting to stop the contract and payraise then come and face your board member.
I think someone needs to find a way to get rid of Jackson, Norman, and Mr. Foster. I feel they have no place in the school system. They do not have the best intrest of our children at heart. The only thing Jackson has at heart is spending taxpayers money, Norman's heart is kissing Jackson's butt and Foster allowes special education children to be assualted, abused, neglected and endangered in his school. They need to go! I aint scared to put my name for them to see.
