Too bad this is a "point of view" video... a camera view off to the side would have been much more conclusive in terms of evidence. But then, there are also eyewitnesses at the scene who attest that Barrett got poked in the chest by the lawyer, so that oughtta count for something. Watch the video, and judge for yourself.

I watchted the tape and saw no sign of assault. If there had been any force someone would have to draw back there hand. What I did see was someone trying to get attention by coming down the hallway hollering at no one but a little old lady trying to get out the door. Bless her heart. It was so obvious that WAB was putting on a show since Cagle wasn't even in the building. It looked to me that you were frightening innocent citizens and that you owe someone an apology!

I just saw the tape. It's funny how Mr. Barrett asks Norman a question Cagle jumps in and Norman splits. Also Cagle admits he punched Mr. Barrett after he is told there are witnesses. Also, the question was wether or not the school board had them arrested. The complaintant is the one that has someone arrested. It is the police and DA that bring the charges. So yes, Gonzo had them arrested and he was the chairman of the board.
It's funny how some will question Mr. Barrett and his reporting but they're the same ones that will watch the reporters from CNN video taping an insurgent's view of them shooting our troops.
So Einstein, You're saying a poke is the same as a hit? I am glad you agree that wether Mr. Barrett was poked or not it is still considered a hit and he was assaulted.
Well, I did learn one thing by watching that video and reading these posts...The definition of WAB truly is "idiot". Boy, what a trouble maker! Cagle didn't poke WAB, he was just using his hand to make a point. The video clearly shows that Cagle did not do anything harmful to Barrett. Yes, you made yourself perfectly clear in the first post when you quoted the definition of POKE from the dictionary. According to you and the dictionary a POKE is a HIT. My dictionary says a pat is a gentle tap or stroke with a flat surface, so now I guess Mr. Cagle was stroking Mr. Barrett's chest. Here's an idea, tomorrow when you walk into your government job, how about patting the first lady you see on the ass. There's nothing wrong with it according to you. And according to the lawyer employeed by the school board and his explaination of the legality of the sunshine law, if I commit a crime and confess to it before I am convicted in court then the crime goes away and it was'nt really a crime after all.
Well, I've never personally called WAB an idiot although I've had my suspicions for a good while.
I think the county's atorney needs to look into the true definition of a "reporter" and have everyone (well, most everyone) arrive at a clear understanding of what the job entails. I thought a reporter was one who worked for a news organization that had public circulation. If a website constitutes "public" circulation, then those without access to the internet are being discriminated against. Should that be investigated?
As for Mr. Cagle "punching" the "reporter", I rather doubt that he did. But most of us know how one can be provoked by someone like WAB, don't we?

A news/journalist reporter (as opposed to a court reporter) is a person who obtains/edits/writes/broadcasts for mass media. These are not all inclusive, you can do one without doing any of the others.
Radio, television, newspapers, periodicals, and world wide web, - all are considered mass media and all utilize reporters. It has nothing to do with 'circulation'. Anyone has as much right to be considered for a reporters/journalists job as anyone else. You're not required by law to have a license or a degree.

Gee it looked clear to me and the sound was clear. Barret was talking to Norman when Cagle interjected himself into the conversation. When he ran out of thoughts he got physical. Now did Cagle assault Barret by poking him or did he sexually harass him by patting his chest. Seems to me either way was way over the line on Cagles part.
It seems to me that, if we are reduced to debating whether WAB was "poked" or "patted," then the question of assault is settled... as either an unwelcome "poke" or a "pat" qualifies as an assault.
Secondly, does anyone seriously believe that if the tables were turned, Cagle would not claim assault? Suppose that Cagle had been talking to Mrs. Norman, and WAB had charged into the discussion, taken it over, and "patted" the lawyer in the chest to emphasize his point? Is it not obvious that Cagle would claim assault, especially having witnesses that would back up his claim?
Thirdly, check out the double standard. The same people that tried to IMPRISON Mr. Barrett for speaking for about ten seconds before a meeting was recessed, now claim that he is making a mountain out of a molehill for claiming assault. Well, I say, live by the zero tolerance sword; die by the zero tolerance sword.
Finally, what a scumbag. This pathetic excuse for a lawyer makes his living by helping [cough, ahem] public servants get away with as little public service as they can possibly deliver. Two years ago, it was advising that "public meetings are not meetings with the public" and thus, the public has no right to speak at them. And now, this blood sucking parasite is offering a Clintonian spin that "private meetings don't break the Sunshine Law as long as you get caught and publicly repent!"

Wow, what interesting posts. I have been quite entertained yet embarrassed too. I feel that most of the posts on here are most likely from friends of Ms. Norman, or other board members. Mr. Barrett is trying to show the disease spreading throughout our school board, and unfortunatley, not enough of the general tax -paying public go to the meetings to see what "Really" goes on. Mr. Barrett attempts to show us, and is treated like a pauper, as is the majority of the citizens in Giles County. I KNOW that the general public wouldn't write about Mr. Barrett the way I have read above, so I'm sure it's TT's little group bashing Mr. Barrett here.
Keep up the good work Mr. Barrett. WE need more like you out there who aren't intimidated by two or three tyrants up there on the hill.

A newspaper such as the Citizen or Free Press is in public circulation but everyone does not subscribe to it. Does that mean that people who choose not to take the paper are being discriminated against? What foolish logic. If anyone wants access to internet they can buy a computer, go to library, etc. etc.
At the school board mtg. Murrey questioned whether having Norman in on each evaluation constituted a violation of Sunshine Law, which she thought it did. Atty. Cagle's explanation was that even if it was a violation the fact that they were having this current meeting "cures the violation". Guess that means if someone drives drunk (which is illegal) but the next time he drives sober (which is legal) the sober time wipes out the drunk time. In that case noone would have to be arrested for anything!?!?
He was assaulted verbally and was battered with the finger therefore the attorney committed ASSAULT AND BATTERY.

He is still here because Giles County pays for a very sly lawyer for him, and he knows how to work the public! It seems he has a bunch of folks fooled. Why in the world would he have needed another contract when his old one was not even close to expiring? Jim Greene hit the nail on the head when he said it would take control out of the school boards hands-did you people not understand that-Tee Jackson now has a signed and sealed contract until 2012 and he can do what he darn well pleases!
I wonder how many more mistruths and misrepresentations he can make in that amount of time?
I guess now I have to go back and tell my children it is now okay to go ahead and do whatever and it will be okay if you just come and tell me later.
No contract allows fraud. Remember the word, "FRAUD". Frankly, I think the recent rash of bad language is likely the work of "disruptors." I note that a lot of the profanity is coming from posters that claim to support WAB. But I think what is really going on, is the Kool Aid drinkers are posting bad language here, in order to make WAB and his supporters look crude and uncouth. I think their overall goal is to drive the easily offended, away from this blog... which, if this cursing epidemic continues, may very well happen.

The article states that Kathy Norman abruptly adjourned the meeting when "reporter" Barrett called Mr. Jackson an "unbelievable low-down liar". Can you believe that?
Mrs. Norman was well within her rights to adjourn a meeting that truly was about to get completely out of hand. Who in their right mind could blame her?

I do not see anywhere on this site where Mr. McPeters has flip flopped he has stood steadfast on what he believes so far. As far as free speech, no matter where you go you can always say anything you want, people don't have to listen, some may not even want to listen, but your always free to say it. What you say may get you arrested, sued or even attacked, but your still free to say anything you want. As far as deleting posts on this blog I appreciate him doing so, if people control themselves and not post smut there would be no need for any posts to be deleted. Although we have freedom of speech there is also a little thing, that is not so common anymore, called common decency, and respect for others. I do not use words that some have used on here and I do not appreciate it when others use them in my presence either. No matter where you go standards have been set, even her on this blog. I believe Mr. McPeters has been very lenient with his so fair, but enough is enough. Mr. McPeters has offered to email to anyone who wants to read them, the posts he has deleted. He doesn't have to keep this site going, he is trying to give people a place to sound off without getting any repercussion while also making others aware of things going on in the county.

Glad to read the DA has signed a warrant against Attorney Cagle. Just reviewed the video again and it clearly shows Mr Barrett attempting to ask Mrs Norman a question in a very civilized manner. When Barrett states to Cagle "you pushed me" his response is "fine" (twice). Chairing the School Board is a huge task. I applaud Mrs. Norman for her will, desire and backbone in taking this huge task.
Her task becomes increasingly difficult when a bunch of idiots try to make her (and the entire school systems) job that much more difficult. The legal council is there to protect the entire county.

You do have one thing correct, he and anyone else that pays taxes in Giles County has the right to address any county meeting if they have gone through the proper requirements and placed on the agenda. Mr. Barrett has completed those requirements each time he has spoken, so, what is your problem? We’re already aware it is not the truth you are concerned with.

This is a blog, that is anyone is free to answer any question posted here if they want to. I didn't call you names or put you down I just tried to answer your questions, but you felt the need to attack me If you want to ask Mr. McPeters questions and only want him to answer them than email him, that way no one else will answer your questions, your attacks on him personally, or you use of vulgar remarks on this site. You can't do that because than he would know who you are, right! If you aren't guilty of writing smut forgive me for accusing you of doing so-but why would you be upset about Mr. McPeters deleting smut unless it was your post that were deleted?

To the knucklehead Anonymous' out there that know exactly how Mr. Barrett's family feels, I ask you this, When did you interview me? I read this blog on occasion and all I see is a bunch of spineless worms hiding behind the name anonymous and bashing Mr. Barrett. Then they defend themselves by saying I can't give my name I might be fired or threatened. We'll don't you think that if you're bashing Mr. Barrett you might get a promotion or even a raise. Mr. Barrett has always signed his post and has always been honest. Name one time that he has lied. I've seen this town lie to him, cheat him, steal from him and even treat him like a piece of dirt. As far as being embarrassed by him, I think not. Proud of him yes. If it would have been me that Cagle touched the way he did I would have punched him in the mouth. If I would have been wrongly arrested by the school board I would have sued. And when I'm eating in public with my family and Tee Jackson walks up and turns on the bull crap and acts like he's my best friend I'll be damned if I'll just sit there and smile. Mr. Barrett is the better man, when he looks at me or my son we know exactly who he is, he's not a fake or a suck up, he's my DAD!

Wrong yet again! I don't run around putting my name out for all to see. I merely point out how the "exposing" actually occurs and by whom. And that obviously doesn't set well with you. How could I be exposing my rear end by remaining anonymous anyhow?

Whatever you might think of Mr Barret he at least has the conviction of his beliefs to attach his name. You are and remain a coward. If you had some reason to fear your name being known it would be understandable but what do you have to fear. Mr Barret has no power over you and as you say "his" group is so small they have no power. If what you have said over and over is in support of the power moguls then it seems being identified would be rewarding for you. That leaves only that you are simply afraid and do not have the convictions or proof of your own statements. You are so critical of Mr Barret and anyone else who has a different opinion than you but the truth is you are what you claim them to be.

Toby, from what I have seen of your Dad he is indead a wonderful person. You have several other family members I know . You have a wonderful family to be proud of. Your Dad is just uncovering some things some people do not want uncovered. He realy needs some support from more board members to help make our county a better place to live.
