E-mail Topic: Great Christmas Memories

As some have sought a topic where positive things could and would be discussed, a reader of this blog has suggested that the topic of "Great Christmas Memories" would allow such a discussion. Hopefully, this new topic will allow people to tell about some very special memory they have from Christmas' past... without any bashing or smearing of others.

Great story - rekindles the meaning of appreciation and abundance in the presence very little. Anything you get is special when none is there & none is expected. A lot is lost when everything is there, nothing is needed, and more is just in the way. In any event, it is a great time of the year simply because giving means getting the pleasure only giving gives.

When you started it with that fabricated story, that is when the thread ended for everyone else. I don't guess you can see that far, can you?
By the way, me and my family had a great Christmas. I hope everyone else did too!

80359 It comes across clear that you are a younger generation. If you had been an older person you could have had some of the same feelings. I understand your post Mr. Barrett. I like you grew up without all the things todays generation has. We can appreciate what we have more than the ones who have had things easy. Mr. Barrett do you not think we are happier to have lived through these times?

This is just a memory that stands out from the late 40's or early 50'. My family lived in the country. One Christmas Eve there was a noise outside our house; as we were trying to keep warm around a wood fireplace. My father went to check it out. A neighbor who had had a little too much moonshine, had thrown a rock on our porch. In the process he dropped his sack of oranges from his horse. He told my father he was trying to pull a Christmas trick on my father and pulled one on himself. Daddy helped pick up his oranges and get back on his horse. He had a large family and the oranges was probably all they got. The rest of his money went to moonshine.

Mr. Barrett you are right I would not want to live through those times again. I think the world might be a lot better off if everyone had to live under those conditions for a month. It might shut some of the smart mouths up.

Mr. Barrett you are right I would not want to live through those times again but I am glad I did. If the electricity is off one day the todays generation think it is terrible. The world might be a better place if every one had to live in those conditions for four weeks, two weeks burning up in the summer and two weeks freezing in the winter. What complaining you would hear if WE HAD NO ELECTRICITY.
