New Proposal for Sam Davis Park

A proposal was made by the Brindley Company for renovations on Sam Davis Park. All the preliminary work was made without charge to the county and without any advantage in the bidding procedures. Removal of stands, grading, utilities moved, new concrete poured, new restrooms, new state of the art press box with restroom, move fence back from the playing field, all for 2.1 million dollars. There was no representation from the city present so the issue was tabled until the city could be contacted and the proposal studied. Allen Barrett

Does anyone beside me think that that Sam Davis stadium could be fixed for less than $1,000,000.00? I'm talking about replacing the bleachers with the aluminum seats and not doing all the fancy work some of the Commissioners and Speer wants done.Has anyone seen the press box that they want built, it stretches across the entire back side of the bleachers.
Why that elaborate?

Looks like that the Talk of the Town is the new park!!! Ambulances would be nice considering the ones there now are wearing out. There is not a single one there with less than 100,000 miles and two with almost 300,000 each. How many of us drive around with mileage that high on a regular basis? I dare say few. The county needs reliable equipment to get your sick or injured family member to the hospital. What is an awesome EMT or Paramedic without an ambulance. Just like a firefighter without water or a truck to put out a fire.

I have two vehicles both have over a hundred thousand miles, my son has a work van he uses daily with almost 400,000 miles and still going strong.
There is no reason to expect a modern vehicle to not get well over 100,000 miles with the proper care and maintenance.
One problem, as expressed in a committee meeting, is that some ambulances weren't worth a toot on a penny whistle when first purchased and very little was done about it in the beginning. Allen Barrett

Anyone that uses the park keeps the money is this true ? I was told that the money that is made from the consession stand the booster club or whatever gets to keep it is that true? It is some what the city/county responsibility but also i think it is the responibility of the school system to keep it up also since they play there sports there.O and one more thing where does the money go that you pay to get in one of the ball games? Just curious cause 5x 400= alot of money that could help with the up keep of the bleachers and such..

Mr. Barrett,

I think it is about time you come to the ambulance service and ride out with us. What if we have a very critical pt and we get stranded on the side of the road? Let me guess you are gonna stand there and talk about it, talk fixes everything dont it? It's all you do is talk and nothing to fix anything. You want to blow the whistle on everything and you get nothing accomplished. Do you have a life other than being a whistle blower? The mileage on the ambulances is high and they are maintained very well but you do need new equipment to do the job. Our ambulances transport sick and injured to hospitals in the area including Nashville and Huntsville and yours don't! Do you think that is important? I do. I also think that you need a little more education on EMS(emergency medical services...I doubt you know what I meant) before you talk on the subject. It's clear you don't have any idea on this subject.

To concerned, First of all if you would read the post pertaining more directly to the ambulance service you would see what I have written that I see as qualifications for me knowing a tiny bit about emergency medical services. As I said there it has been a long time but not everything has escaped me. You have no clue about who I am or what I am about but the one thing your post makes me very sure of is I hope someone else answers the call if I ever need an ambulance with medical care.
The last post I put on this thread was 26 March and I stand behind it 100%. Just because a vehicle has a hundred thousand miles on it doesn't mean it's ready for the junk pile, and yes I drive my car to Murfreesboro at least once a week to Huntsville once a month and to Fla. once a year. I'm not even considering getting a new car just because this one has 120,000 miles on it. I wouldn't even consider it if I was spending someone else's money.
Here's the biggest problem with your post because you don't know much you fantasize that everyone else is just as dumb, so you'll look smarter. Now if I sound sarcastic it's because I'm trying hard to be because I don't respond to stupid false accusations too well. Allen Barrett

Goodness anonymous I'm surprised you couldn't feel the chill in my statement, I guess I'm slipping.
I wonder why you had no criticism of concerned? Oh I see, if you attack me you're already cool. Thanks Allen Barrett

I thought the people that were elected to public office were supposed to do what the people of the town wanted done. It seems a little strange to me that the people voted against the sales tax, but now they are telling us that if we don't vote for the sales tax, that they will just raise our property taxes. Sounds like a threat is the only way they can get it passed. What happened to the vote of the people?

It's total proof of arrogance when one assumes that the person who criticizes him does so out of hero worship or some other warped need! Absolutely and unbelievabley hillarious!
Why would one be given to such grandiose delusions of self worth?
