Giles Free Speech Zone
The purpose of the "Giles Free Speech Zone" is to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand. Ain't there a church across the street. Ain't there something about not selling alhehol close to a church.
So why doesn't the new owner apply for a beer permit after he buys the store? Or is he paying extra for the current owners to get it for him in advance?
I heard that Andy Hoover the city attorney was also representing the people trying to get the distance changed. If that is true then ain't their something that smells when a lawyer represents both sides of the question?
I too am curious as to the role the city attorney played in this matter.
I know he and the Duncans are friends. I also understand that it was he who introduced the issue and the new owners have not even applied for a beer license. If it is true
that Mr Hoover represented both side in this issue he needs to resign and ethics charges need to be filed.
Separation of church and state has
not been the history of this county or country. Why should sales of alcohol be governed by the
church? Sunday is not the day of
worship for all religions. What is
it with the law that liquor stores
can`t sell mixes like soder pop etc.?
