The purpose of the "Giles Free Speech Zone" is to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand. KENDRICK McPETERS

It is with a sad heart that I report that my friend and a good friend of Giles County passed away this morning. Kendrick had been in the hospital for about two months, much of it in the critical care unit in Madison, Tn. He was transferred to Stallworth at Vanderbilt a couple of weeks ago. This morning his heart just stopped beating. Arrangements are incomplete at this time but plans are to have a memorial service at Carr & Erwin on Monday about 5PM. Kendrick had a strong belief in Jesus as The Christ and his Savior and is now in heaven. Please pray for his family and friends that they will find comfort in their loss. Allen Barrett

I didn't always agree with Kendrick, but I am sad to hear of his death. He believe strongly in his ideals and defended them with vigor. I respect that. Go on to your rest now Kendrick. God be with his family in this difficult time.

Kendrick was a grade above me in school and I remember him as being very quiet and staying to himself........never bothering anyone. I didnt always agree with him on this blog but I always admired him for standing up for what he thought was right. My parents instilled in us you have to stand for something and withhold your family name........Thats exactly what he did. He deserved admiration and respect for doing just that. My deepest sympathies go to his family and in re-reading how he felt about his parents and knowing they went to heaven and how much he missed them......I'm sure he is at peace now and in the arms of the parents he loved so much. GOD bless to his family.

Whether I agreed or disagreed with his posts what a sad loss. He was very young and from his posts trying to lose weight and keep a positive outlook. He loved and missed his parents and God willing he will be with them again. For his family who survives him my sympathy.

How insensitive can you be? You are undoubtedly the most hard and unfeeling person I have ever seen.

Didn't really know Kenrick - spoke to him a couple of times that I saw him. I probably read and apprecited all of his articles which revealed a man of great wisdom and a like appreciation for God the master of all.

To some, like the poster of 11:00, Kendrick was their nemesis. His genius was the antithesis of the corruption that smothers the direction of our education system. To the dismay of the corrupt, his presence made Giles County a better place because of his brief presence in our midst.

ON one side, we see the corrupt stranglehold on Financial Management under the thumb of Jackson. Not seen is a spirit that filled Kendrick and others, a spirit that tenaciously fights corruption and evil. With due respect, it isn't the people. It's the hand that silently moves people to a riteous end. Kendrick served that hand while those who persecuted him served the hand and cause of evil.

Kendrick was a class act - not afraid to face the truth & vouch for it.

11.10 pm It looks like the scum barrel has sprung a leak and the substance at the bottom has come out.

Yes, the 11:00 must be the scum leaking out. Kendrick tried to do what he thought was best for the county. We should all be greatful for the things he did. My condolences to his family. May he rest in peace with his parents.

I hope the 11;10 poster is not a Giles County person. We do not need that kind in our county. To his family God be with you.

You can hope, but most likely the 11:10 poster was someone a long time resident of Giles Co. Folks from "outside" would not have known Kendrick but also would have more respect. Dont be so quick to accuse those not board here. After all the "outsiders" have done more for Giles Co in the last few years than those living here a lifetime.

Kendrick came with a gift of God. Such special gifts have a way of interferring with the slick tongue of evil. That capacity of knowledge & understanding was indeed unusual and vast, far above the capabilities the rest of us have.

That tallent should have been used by our education system. Instead - we all know what happened. His goodness and knowledge was the opposite of the corruption he fought. If evil hates you, it's a good sign you are doing the right thing! Our county is better because of him & the affects will continue to be felt in years to come

I never knew Kendrick, he could of been a saint or the devil, but anyone that write like Tuesday, November 11, 2008 5:40:00 PM is a very sorry excuse of a human.

Does everything have to be your way.
I bet you are the one that gripes so much about WAB.

Maybe what is being said on here is to help the family with loosing a brother and uncle.

5:40 you need to grow up.

If Tee Jackson dies I hope no one acts that way about him.

I enjoyed Kendrick's writing & will miss his thoughts & information. Unlike the sound byte news & research we get from the media, he did the research, dealt with facts, and tried to inform rather than indoctrinate. I admire one who doesn't play with words to color a story to their own end. Reading the words & learning by it is a good feeling.

He did a lot for our community. I do respect what he was!

When I said I hoped the poster did not live in Giles County I meant no disrespect for people who have moved in. We have wonderful people here from other places, who have helped out county a lot. I was not born here but Giles County is dear to me.
