What Does Reggie Bush Have To Do With Giles County?

Reggie Bush by every account is an incredible football player. A super star in the NFL, he has a Super Bowl ring, he's never missed a game or practice because he was in jail.
By most considerations he is seen a a very likable, nice young man with great talent.
Reggie Bush has been forced to give back the Heisman Trophy he was awarded in 2005 because one of the few rules is a player must be in compliance with NCAA rules to be eligible for the award.
Mr. Bush, although he received 2,541 votes the second highest number of votes in the history of the Trophy, because he violated the rules now has been stripped of the trophy and all the records he set in 2005 and his team must forfeit 14 victories because, outside Giles County, there is a penalty for not following the rules.

Now how does that translate to Giles County? In the recent county commission elections a candidate who did not comply with the rules and was not eligible to be on the ballot yet received enough votes to be elected. The difference is that in Giles County it matters more who you are than what the rules are, so in-spite of not being eligible to receive any votes the decision stands, at least for now.
I'll bet Reggie Bush wishes the mind set in Giles County was present with the NCAA.

Who said it did! The way I looked at it was WAB wished Giles County would do like NCAA. That don't mean I agree, it just the way I looked at it.
If you don't stop loosing it at what Barrett says and does you are going to have a heart attack.

To HOW DUMB, glad you finally signed your name but surprised you didn't pick a less descriptive one. Giles County does not enforce Tennessee laws and if the county met the standards of the NCAA the county would be on probation more than all the SEC teams combined.

The great majority of voters wanted Reggie Bush to be the Heisman trophy winner but when you're not qualified those votes don't count.
If you want Barrett out of here so bad why not make a offer on his house? Oh but you'd have to show your face to do that, maybe you could send your wife with the offer.

I wonder why rabid the enabler of wrongdoing hasn't bothered to comment on the facts of the Bush Situation. Seems to me they are very similar. Let me see he broke the rules and got caught and had to pay a penalty it seem only in Giles County does a person break the law and get rewarded for it. Oh well. C'est la vie. Allen Barrett

I think that offer will need to be made to Mr. McAlister who just might be the eventual new owner of the property when all is said and done. And how about that nice Ford truck?
Since barrett seems to know a bit of French, perhaps he might want to coniders a move to Paris?

There are no sour grapes on my part. Mrs. Vanzant was re-elected, barrett lost (again), and the disgruntled's three-step plan for Giles County failed miserably at least for now.
I hope you will remember that it was barrett himself who first suggested that Mrs. Coleman might not be able to read a budget report. His making statements like that has made my attitude what it is today.

After hearing coleman's testimony I'm convinced she not only CAN'T read a budget I doubt she knows what a budget is. That is one dumb woman based on her testimony not her race or gender. She is exactly what vanzant wanted someone to say yes when she was pointed to.

Mr. Abdo's situation sorta reminds me of another one wherein allen barrett tried to get Mrs. Coleman disqualified even before the election.
I would appeal to Mr. Abdo to come on here and clear up barrett's misunderstandings about his showing proof of residency. He had no problem with it, so why is barrett trying to suggest otherwise? In my opinion, it's all about sour grapes.

To 5:32 I did not bring the complaint about Mr Abdo and I have no misunderstanding about the situation. I would suggest you look closer at the candidates for mayor to identify the accuser.
Was Mrs Vanzant required to bring in utility bills to prove that she lives on College street instead on on Vanzant road in Lincoln County?

I have no problem with the way Mr. Abdo handled this matter.
What I do have a problem with is anonymous people being allowed to unofficially lodge a complaint when the procedure is clearly that an official complaint is required to launch an investigation. This whole thing was done the way it was I believe, to protect the identity of the one who complained and prevent criticism of her campaign.
When the rules and laws are not applied equally the whole system becomes worthless in having justice. Allen Barrett

Is what's happening to Mr. Abdo not the same thing done to Mrs. Vanzant when she ran for office the second time? You and many anonymous posters on this blog questioned her residency. I don't know if anyone ever made a formal complaint with the election commission but I know you tried your best to prove she was not a resident of Giles County. Obviously, some of you still won't accept the fact she owns a house in Pulaski where she lives and her husband's family owns a farm in Lincoln County where she may visit at times. The shoe must feel different when it's on the other foot.

The point of the whole matter is one candidate didn't qualify, period, so therfore there should have been only three names on the ballot. Which would have automaticly put Mr. Barrett in office. The candidates are responsible for getting their running papers straight and if they can't do that right what makes anyone believe they can do the job they were elected for right.
Yes, Mr. Barrett was a runner up but only because the Election Commision failed to do their job. But nevertheless that is the face of politics in Giles County-not much sunshine here!

Trust me, barrett has a lot more to worry about with Clay McAlister than he does with trying to take Mrs. Colemanb's job away from her based on a clerical mistake that was admitted to right up front.
