Do You Believe That The City, County and School Board Are In Compliance With The State Open Meetings Laws?

Do you believe that since the State Open Meetings Law requires all meetings, including those with less than a full committee, be open to the public, that the law is being fully complied with?
Do you believe that the City, County and School Board is in compliance with the State Open Records Law?
Do you believe the local media is doing a good job in providing information about meetings and records such as the cost of lawsuits against the city, county or school system?
Are you satisfied with the level of information being provided about the actual cost of operations for the City, County and School System?

I tell you what 4:05, rather than them say no no no no, why don't they state why it isn't. They do run according to open meeting laws. Some of you would say anything to make our county officials look bad. Even if it is a lie, just like the one above. It is quite pitiful the way you act.

That's really the way this blog goes.
To answer the thread question, I believe the city is within the requirements for announcing meetings but its done by the skin of their teeth.
County is absolutely NOT in compliance. Too many meetings not announced within the timeframe as required and some meetings not published for the public at all. Sometimes a meeting is on WKSR but not in the newspaper as required by law.
The Giles County site with calendar is hopeless. Sometimes a meeting is announced and then again, not.
Why are we paying for the county website when it is so outdated and useless?
Last I knew we were paying $4,000 annually for Rackley to keep it updated. Its probably gone up by now. The question why ar we paying for such a lousy website should be answered by 21 commissioners. They just dont look at and question the details which is partly why the county is in such a financial mess.

To the 12:11 poster. The claim was made that Rackley Systems is paid to maintain the county website. The website is ridiculously outdated and clearly not being updated in a timely manner or maintained on a regular basis. Who in county government is responsible to bring this matter to the webmaster and require better maintenance? If there is no one who is responsible for contacting the webmaster to report problems then it is true that a large sum of money is being spent without any accountability.
Its the responsibility of the county executive.

Look, allen barrett is known throughout the county as a troublemaker. Oh and you will most likely dismiss it as nothing more than a rumor...you guys are good about that when it suits your needs. But it's out there, and I believe you know it.
When a person admits to being a gossip, as you have many times 7:44 they lose credibility. When you make claims that are proven to be untrue you lose credibility. When you knowingly state something that is untrue as the truth that person is a liar.

Gossip is not sanitized based on who is spreading it, all gossips are doing evil. When people give supportive evidence and take responsibility for their comments it becomes more than simple gossip.
Oh, by the way I'm sure you realize that referring to people as "troublemakers" is name calling, surprising coming from someone who is so critical of others who engage in name calling.
Referring to you as a troublemaker is a fact (my opinion). But you just can't seem to get past that and accept it.

I only entered "my opinion" in the post to fend off the possibility of being sued for calling a troublemaker exactly what he is. I re-read my statement after it was posted, but it was too late to word it differently. I realize it was somewhat of an oxymoron, and I thank you for pointing that out AGAIN.
