Partial List of Salaries For County Personnel
A few weeks ago I stated on this blog that county employees
are making more money and have better benefits than most of the taxpayers who
are not government workers. I was quickly denounced as a liar and not knowing
anything. So I would like to share some annual salaries of county employees and
you can make up your own mind as to whether county workers are paid more with
better benefits than the average non- government taxpayer.

Anyone can find out how much anyone working for the county and school system makes. Thanks Mr. Barret, I'm sure a lot of people would like to know but don't know how to go about getting it.

You have to take serious measures to remain truely anon on the net. That's why so many people get busted doing things they shouldn't, it's very difficult to completely get rid of info once it's on there. Kind of like a paper trail, you leave evidence everywhere you go. Cookies are one way of tracking, ip's are another, but there are many.

It is very illegal to get someones IP address without their permission. By law, anyone that has the opportunity to remain anonymous has that right unless they are investigated by the police for violating laws. Just because someone calls you a moron doesn't give you the right to obtain any of there information. You can go to jail and pay some very large fines for doing so. It is not illegal to obtain an individual's ip without their consent and long as the intent is not malicious. It is, however, a felony to obtain ips of:Businesses, police, federal agencies, courts or schools without permission. Just doing that could be construed as Cyber Terrorism and cost you some time in the pokey. Seems you are the one tryng to play Mr.Cool and speak on subjects of which you have no knowledge. Mr. Barrett. Some of the people whose salaries you have listed are long-term employees who have been granted raises for their service over the years.
Case in point.
A friend of mine started with McDonalds while in high school. She stayed with the company and is now a manager making very decent pay. What's wrong with that?

Agree some people receive higher salaries due to time of service but the county needs to put a cap on the worth of county job positions. Raises should be based on job performance and not just a raise because everyone is getting one. Commissioners need to look at the necessity of some of the positions being funded by tax payers and start cutting jobs just as is being done in the private sector.

As you can read and have been told a private citizen is very different from a government employee paid by taxpayer funds. I have not listed the salary or benefits of any private citizen nor would I. If a CEO makes $20,000,000.00 a week I could really care less as any change in their salary would not make a bit of difference in my income. On the other hand when a government employee is taking taxpayer paid trips to Hawaii for non-existent conferences as with the GAO in DC that does take money out of my pocket with no benefit to me.
When a government employee, regardless of their level, is making more and has far better benefits for the same job as a non government employee and especially when they are whining about wanting more while knowing the bucket is empty there is a major problem that needs to be corrected.
Someone wrote that people should be given raises based on merit and I fully agree but would go farther and say to be given a raise there should be a yearly written evaluation and established goals for the coming year. There are employees that have never been given a written evaluation during their time of employment with the government.
What I posted is public information available, by law, to anyone who makes an official request for it. Private salaries are just that.

The figures shown are what the salary or annual wage that is being provided. To that figure please add approximately 30% to get the REAL COST to Giles County taxpayers. The 30% adds the benifits, and other fees.
So if Mrs. Vanznt receives $68,068.30 her real cost to taxpayers is approximately $89,284.39

Mr. Dan Watson's annual county salary is $33,118.02.
30% would be a close accurate amount to add for benefits such as insurance and retirement etc.

Why didn't this joker list ALL county employees salaries since he wants to be so fair and 'Christian' about the way he treats people? And even though those salaries are a matter of public information, WHY did he need to post them? I have talked to some of these folks, and they don't appreciate it at all. The point he misses is that these elected and appointed officials are also private citizens. There was no point to that, and he ought to be ashamed and repent.
I still want to know what his wife's salary is. Isn't it also paid by church taxpayers? Shouldn't it be posted here so all her friends as well as the church members will know?

Mrs. Barrett's salary is paid by the church she works for, a private entity. However, if you so badly want to know how much her salary is you could visit the church and ask to speak with the church treasurer and he/she could tell you its none of your business unless, of course, you become a member. Then you would know exactly where every penny that church members voluntarily contribute to the church is spent. Unlike, I might add, where county tax payers know where every penny goes even though we should be made aware and our tax dollars are compulsary.

Somebody being paid with tax money is a different story and it makes me made as hell that we're paying some of these people anything,and some for 40n hours while the work 35 hours or less. The whole courthouse needs to be cleaned out but that ain't going to happen until somebody who ain't afraid gets in there. The county lost a good chance when Mr Barrett didn't get elected but I knew they wouldn't allow him in there they got the system they want for their friends and family and to hell with the resat of us.

Today I saw an ambulance with "First Care" and one had "Moore" one the side of it, in Pulaski, were they Giles County ambulance or from someplace else?
I think Moore came from Lawrenceburg, where did First Care come from?
If you watch close you'll see a lot of ambulances here from out of town. When it cost more for a Giles County Ambulance to take a person from Cedar Lane to Hillside Hospital than for an ambulance to come from Lincoln County and do the same thing with out the hassle of bill collectors you'll understand why they are here.
Those ambulances are probably bringing patients to Hillside due to the request from the patient. Nothing some of you say ever makes sense.

Why is this just a partial listing? Is it because these are the ones that are just plain ridiculous? I know one is part-time and then doesn't come in half that time due to personal "issues"..how's that going for ya? I'd say pretty darn good for many years!!!! Got it made except maybe the liver!
This is a partial list because it's all that I have been able to get so far. When the request was made it covered all county employees including fee offices. A second and third request has been made but so far there have only been promises of compliance with the open records law, it seems a request to the state will have to be made to get the County Executive to release the rest of the information. Time will tell.

All county records are open to the public....this information is something that citizens ARE DEFINITELY entitled to know since tax rates are going to have to be raised to balance budget to fund these salaries. In the private sector if companies are struggling...changes are made...this should be no different in public sector. I work in private sector and all employees have had to take a reduction in payrate and benefits. I don't want it either but...I need a job. Folks, this is hard times!

I believe everyone, especially government employees, should have to try to survive on minimum wage. There was a huge controversy the last time it was increased, and it's still next to impossible to live on such a wage, even if both spouses work. It goes back to cutting the non-essentials and forcing yourself to live on a budget. I think it would be excellent training for our officials and should be a requirement for anyone seeking to hold a public office.

It costs more for individuals to survive due to rising costs of goods and services. The same is true for county government. That's simple economics.

But if you are developing business, expanding your tax base, improving the land and elevating land values at a rate consistent with the increase in the cost of running government as well as hiring qualified efficient workers as opposed to most entertaining then you should not have to burden the taxpayers with the governments unwillingness to run responsibly and efficiently. I noticed in this week's letters section in the newspaper that the usual crowd seems after Terry Harwell more than ever. Isn't it funny how the same ones have been after Tommy Campbell as well? Even more interesting is the fact that both of these commissioners are in District 7.
I don't think an orchestrated and planned effort such as this will be the demise of either commissioner. Even if one or both of them should rsign or decide not to run for re-election, there will be other good candidates who will run in that district to prevent Mr. Barrett from going in unopposed. The voters of District 7would never allow that to happen.

Did Giles County Ambulance Service Director request the Ambulance service be given a monopoly for the entire county?
Mr Griggs asked that no other ambulance services be called to come to giles County unless his service turned down the call first. This means that no outside service can come here without prior approval of Mr Griggs. The county already has a resolution that prevents another ambulance service setting up a station in this county.
