Poster From Songwriters Dream Program At Martin Methodist College

This is the poster advertising the program with a list of supposed $1000.00 sponsors. While this was a very wonderful and worthwhile event should it not reflect the citizens of the city/county instead of Dan Speer since it was our tax money?

This is outrageous! If Dan Speer wanted to donate to this event out of his own pocket that's great, but with the charge reflected on another thread showing Economic Development expenses, it appears to be one and the same donation which would amount to fraud of tax payer money. Anyone know how to go about making sure this was from ED or from Dan Speer personally?

Unfortunately this is only a minor drop in the bucket when you compare it to all the many, many, other ways he uses tax payers money. The people of Pulaski would be furious to find out some of the things he has used government funds for and please don't suggest an audit be done. That is a joke. When you have spent as much money as Dan Speer has and done so for as long as he has and gotten away with it with no more than having to answer one or two questions a year, you get that good by knowing exactly how to "doctor the books" so that nothing raises any suspicion and you keep someone at the top level of government (city administrator) very well compensated for helping you cover all your tracks and acting as a deversion in case someone starts to catch on to what has been going on, someone like Barrett. So keep up the good work Allen, you may not have realized it when you posted this tread, but you are really on to something that is bigger than you ever thought.

Yeah an when you've got a selected few commissioners enter-twined with each others boards an committees, with no interest in asking questions it's real easy to line up your votes. Why do you think that the meetings are so early the working public can't attend or the meeting sites change so much? Coincidence-I think not.

We need a PES type hearing about the county finances and the EDC.

Compared to “average responses” to blog subjects, the public responses to the last few weeks’ blogs has been rather subdued. There may be fewer posts because your ridiculous back and forth banter about lies is considerably less, but even though there are fewer posts they are to topic and for the most part express true opinions and feelings. Governor Haslam Says Pulaski Expansion Will Top $57.7 Million

Expansion Will Create 800 New Jobs in Giles County
Are we to thank Dan Speer for this?

It doesn't really matter who gets the credit, or who gets ridiculed on the new jobs announcement today. The one person who deserves the most credit for this is Kim Ketchum! With her, it fell in the laps of the Economic Development Coodinator and group, Without her, it would be in either Mexico or Alabama. It doesn't really matter now, because the jobs are coming to Pulaski. Woo hoo!

This is good news! Only thing that always seems to happen is that around election time or when he's under scrutiny---magically Jobs appear! If he truly can do all that and is trying to do that--why must he always wait till elections or scrutiny? Think of what could be done all the time if inclined?

There should still be an accounting of these irregularities that surround the workings of the office and how it relates to all involved--will everyone forget the MESS now?

The new company, "Magnetti" that is coming to Giles County is able to do so only because they conferred with the management of Toyota, who was turned down by EDC and city administrators of Pulaski several years ago and had to build their factory on Pulaski Pike inside Huntsville city limits. When Toyota spoke with Magnetti, they were told to avoid Pulaski/Giles County EDC at all costs and strickly go through the neccessary channels at the state level using the governors office so that no one from Pulaski could have a chance to derail the project before it got started. Dan Speer's office knew about the new company coming to Pulaski the same time everyone else did, when it was broadcasted on the news.

Dear 6-12-12 @ 8:40. My children have been out of school for sometime so I am not as knowledgeable as I should be regarding the teachers' work ethic.I do know that it has been a trying year but not having children in the system, I am not in a position to judge the education that students are receiving. Since you are in the schools every day and are aware of what's going on first hand, please give me some concrete examples what what the "lazy" vs the "hard working" teachers are doing or not doing. From what I understand, and it's not first hand as your information is, the Governor's evaluation plan for teacher's is time consuming and doesn't actually demonstrate a teacher's competance. I appreciate your help. Glad to know that there are people out there who know first hand what's going on and not just teacher bashing.

Dear 7:48,

Is it possible that you teach sarcasm in school? If so, you are doing a poor job. It doesn't take anyone very smart to know the difference between a lazy teacher that has no business being in the classroom and one that is willing to go the extra mile because their top priority is the students success. You see, some teachers went to school just to take advantage of the benefits and some wanted to make a difference in childrens lives. This new program is going to ensure that those that make a positive impact on our children and create an environment for which they want and are able to learn are rewarded.

I hope you aren't so silly to think that somehow teachers are immune to being bashed? Give it a few years and all of those riding the backs of the unions will be looking for new jobs and the education system will make a huge leap forward.

I sincerely hope this answered you question!

No you did not answer my questions and I am deeply offended. So obviously you are just another teacher basher, who is IGNORANT of a teacher's job. Please explain how 6 hours of paperwork for a 30 minute dog and pony show helps students. Please tell me how a standardized test can provide any type of valid indicator of knowledge a student has gained. Teachers are required to do rigorous and frequent professional development, often on their own time. Tell me how many parents do you know who take classes to become better at parenting? Explain to me, if you can how a teacher's performance can be fairly judged on one week out a student's entire school year. Suppose the child simply didn't want to take THE test? Suppose the student suffers from test anxiety? Suppose the student enjoys making patterns with the dots and his # 2 pencil? Suppose the child is mad at the teacher, his mom or dad, the principal, his best friend and can't perform at his best level? Suppose the student was up all night babysitting baby brother or sister while his caretaker was out drunk? Suppose he saw mom get beat up the night before the test or taken to jail? What if his grandparent, parent, friend puppy or anyone he loves was killed the night before or became ill? Suppose the student himself is ill or simply scared to death of THE test? Any one of the above scenarios is the "lazy teacher's" fault? I guess, since you know first hand, you know that the above situations are not the exception. But hey, what do I know? I bet your children are the type who are perfect or never need to be reprimanded in school and if the should forget their homework, of talk back to someone who is an authority figure, it's all because of the "lazy teacher" who is picking on your child. Teacher bashing is wrong. The bashing of any profession is wrong unless one is a member of that profession. Walk a mile in the other person's shoes before you act like you know it all. (I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain how very ignorant you are of the teacher's benefits) You obviously are one who is not going to let a little thing like the truth get in the way of your belief system. And if teachers have it so good with unusually great benefits, why aren't you one?

Wednesday, June 13, 2012 8:56:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I've read the above post over and over and all I've really got out of it is someone's drawers are in a wad.
To me 7:48 just asked for things to be explained. I didn't see that as bashing teachers. For people not in the school system that don't understand what all goes on.

My question is how can you tell the difference in a hard working teacher and a lazy one? I've heard the governor wanted the principal to evaluate the teachers this year.
Is that what this is all about?
I don't know anything about how they go about that but if it's the principal has to set in the class room a few hours to see how the teacher does, that's crazy. First it will probably make teacher and students nervous and neither one do well. I guess I would go for spying as I'm sure someone will call it. Don't they have a PA system where the principal could turn on occasionally and listen to what goes on? This way teacher and students will be acting naturally.
If a teacher had students that made bad grades, you would have to check if it's students iq or did the teacher not explain it good. There is some real smart people out there but just can't explain how something works.

Of course there are lazy and highly motivated teachers, one problem is that many of the highly motivated don't stay that way for long. The frustration of being over supervised and under supported while watching some near worthless teacher reap the same benefits is very provoking.
The lazy teacher is the one who shows a movie twice a week that has no educational benefit, the lazy teacher is the one who allows good students to be bullied by those who have no interest in learning. The lazy teacher dresses like a hooker or someone who just finished their yard work. The lazy teacher has more tattoos and piercings than their combined class of students. The lazy teacher is putting in their time without any real concern for the student learning or not.
The lazy teacher is more involved with other teachers than their students, a day of gossip, flirting and inattention pays the very same as being totally involved with all their students and actually taking the extra time to be sure they are getting it and to actually know who their students are. A good teacher will know their students where they live and about their background.
Yes, there are certainly some outstanding teachers in Giles county and you can easily tell who they are, they're the ones who are the most frustrated.

Let me get this straight:

EDC lands 800 jobs that inject $25 million annually into the local economy and you are concerned that the EDC director gets credit for . . . a contribution to a cultural event? Is this really what we are concerned about in 2012?

The School System "loses" $2.9 million and you say nothing.

Geez. Get your priorities straight if you want to make a difference in this community. All of you are missing the mark. Focus on the individual and you will always lose. Put your efforts into attacking the real fiscal problems and leave personalities out of it. It's really getting old.

Well, if you haven't seen any teachers, men and women, with tattoos or piercings apparently you haven't been spending much time with your kids at school.
Tattoos and piercings are a result of immaturity and laziness, too immature to resist peer pressure and to lazy to fit in based on your individual value and accomplishments.
Do you really think people are not judged by first impressions and appearances?

If you have a big nose ring in your face do you think a potential employer might hire you for the front desk?

I think a few of the points that should be noted is that Magnetti had to go through the state economic development and have the governor involved to be able to expand here. The fact that Dan is using tax payers money for his own shameless self promotion is not something that should be taken lightly. How many times has he done similar things. That office needs to be audited.

And on another note I had much rather have a qualified tattooed and pierced employee than some dumb a** that judges people on what they where as opposed to what they are. But maybe I am just not a bigot.

Yes that is true.

Although a tatoo shouldn't automatically indicate how good or bad a person can perform their job, it does warrant some additional scrutiny when dexidi g if their decision making skills are appropriate for the surrounding: IE education, maybe not, like a labor or customer service, prob has no bearing if discrete, however most chose to cover so customers aren't giving them the once over.

My 2 cents, and I agree that the topic needs to be rhe focus. But that's what usually happens here....people get upset by something and besides getting buried in the press, it's derailed here. I guess well all forget about the financial mess via the director and the questions about the EDC and the wastewater land etc will be forgotten because of the great news about Magnetti and the apparent efforts off the STATE to bring them here (although how would we know who did if didn't work to bring it here)

There is only one person in this county with the knowledge and guts to tell the people the truth about what's going on. Mr Barrett is smart enough and fearless enough to get this place straightened but the big wheels don't want nothing to changed so they block his election

It seems there is nothing Dan Speer will not do in the way of self promotion. Giving a thousand dollars of tax payer money under his own name should be investigated as a fraud just as paying nearly a thousand dollars a month to his wife's agency for insurance is a conflict of interest.
The problem seems to be that he has entrenched himself to the point good citizens who know say nothing and others live in denial.
The EDC Board which includes Mrs Vanzant seems to have sat on their collective thumbs and allowed him to do as he pleases no questions, now as with the county financial mess the tax payers have to carry the burden of inaction by those responsible and what appears to me to be the complete breakdown of responsibility by our elected officials.

Another problem that causes many to be silient tax payers is many will say they support you and will be there for you when the time comes to speak out against those who are corrupt, but actually when the time does come, those same people are no where to be found, some will even switch sides on you when the going gets tough.

Speaking of your buddies the commissioners; did the money that is not missing but they just don't know where it is ever turn up? Maybe old Harwell just put a decimal in the wrong place. Maybe they should hire some one to check his work for him. Wait they tried to but I guess he did not want the janitor looking over his shoulder. It seems the real idiots are you and the commissioners you are talking to.

7:41, we got along in Giles County before automobiles and indoor plumbing too; that doesn't mean we want to go back to that day. Many people fear change and are more than willing to go along with the status quo, but that doesn't make change a bad thing.

I don't understand why you are so adamantly opposed to accountability in our local government, which is really what B is trying to help establish. I don't always agree with his methods, but I respect what he's trying to do.

I don't know what happened to you that you have become so dead set against anyone, especially Barrett, saying anything against the county managers. You are quick enough to point out the flaws you see in our state and federal system, so what's the difference? I personally like Janet and several of the commissioners -- I believe she cares about the county: her's is a tough job and I certainly wouldn't want it -- but that doesn't mean I have to approve of the way they sometimes do things. No one is trying to "hang them on the square", we just have questions we want answered. That's our right as citizens and taxpayers.

I never served in the military, but I know you did. You put your country before yourself then, why not do the same thing now?

GTC Says:

First off: This has noting what so even to do with the subject of this individual blog. But, since this particular blog seems to enjoy the most response, I hereby ask the following:

There is an announcement in the June 19th Pulaski Citizen signed by Janet P Vanzant Giles County Executive ... requesting anyone who might be interested in applying their qualifications for consideration as Giles County Financial Management Director.

So what do you say?????

Mrs. Vanzant's announcement applies a deadline for all applications to be 3:30 PM June 16th.

That was four (4) days ago !!!!!!

If anyone who is now reading this newspaper will without a doubt notice that this announcement was published after the deadline date. Even if this is a mistake by the County Executive, the local newspaper or GOD ... This makes Giles County look like a bunch or igmos, morons, stupid and whatever other name you wish to attach. Who with any degree of intelligence would want to work with a County Executive who cannot get a simple announcement correct??????

Yes Janet… you will state that this was not your fault. SORRY but this is your fault! You are in charge, you are responsible, you are the County leader (GOD help us). Your supporters will simply state “Bless her heart” she did not make a mistake.

How many non-mistakes can this County afford? The citizens should and will demand responsibility from our officials.

Oh yes, I am against the charter and assure you that I will do all I can to see it defeated. But don't misrepresent what I said about fair elections. Case in point. Barrett may have lost the first time, but with you campaining for him, by your constant whining about him, I think he would stand a far better chance should he decide to run again. Same goes for the charter. With you bitching about it, it just makes me want to vote it in that much more. I am 8:04

OK CG I am typing this response slowly so that even you may understand.

The proposed charter requires all elected officials to be fully accountable to all citizens and not the other way around. The charter requires a zero based budget system that does not allow the county to spend more than the revenue they have. The charter requires that the county executive prepare and present to the public their plans and goals for Giles County annually and a financial plan annually. The proposed charter requires that all County offices prepare a 3-year operations plan and a 5-year capital plan (I guess you don't believe in financial planning?). The proposed charter requires that the commissioners and the county executive have (as a minimum a High School or GED education. Again I guess you are not in favor of them having the very basic of education so that they can at least possibly read and understand what they are doing?

But you don't owe anyone an explanation. Or, is it you are unable to think of one?

Yes I know that you are against Barrett and everyone who is supporting this charter. So was King George in the late 1700's....but then who would have guessed that a bunch of ignorant peasants would win their freedom from the most powerful government in existence?

Poor ... Poor ... pitiful CG everyone is against him and he is feeling so sad. And, by your own admission you also are a liar, were a liar and continue to lie. You just hate it when this is pointed out using your own words.

First off, who said I was trying to do a better job than did Val Kilmer? What's your point?
Secondly, would you call Brett Favre a liar when he came back from retirement to play football? Would you be so stupid as to think that? He changed his mind. Have you NEVER changed your mind about anything?
As for the charter, you vote the way you feel you should, but mine will cancel yours out. Be assured. The question I am already asking people I come into contact with is simply why do we need a charter? Most all of them say they don't have a clue. Oh, I'm sure you would counter with the accountability issue to which most people just shrug their shoulders and ask why all the fuss. I agree. As for having a voice in what goes on, how is a charter going to provide that voice for you? Elected officials will still be running the show and those who don't need to be in there will not be voted in or will be voted out at the first opportunity to do so. Please answer that for me. How is a charter going to give you more voice than you and I already have?
But again, vote however you think best. That's your right.

8:04 (11:37)
The charter would make officials more accountable? I believe they arlready are. Besides, you guys make sure of that. So why do we need a charter to achieve that end?
You mentioned a zero budget system that would prevent the county from spending more than the revenues at hand. What happens when the costs of doing business exceed the revenues at hand? Oh, I forgot. The people will gladly go into the voting booths and opt for more taxes. Right?
Who said I don't believe in financial planning? I believe you did...not me. I see no problem with any firm, business, or government projecting goals and plans. I have no problem with a county executive preparing projections and financial plans inasmuch as that would be possible.
Granted, commissioners and the county executive should have at least a high school or Ged diploma. I didn't realize that we ever had a county executive who didn't graduate high school? Did we? You insult the integrity of Giles Copuntians by implying that some can't read and understand. But that's typical, and we usually just laugh and say, "We don't care how you did it up North."
Yes, in all honesty, I am totally against allen barrett and his followers. I see them as troublemakers, and we don't need that going on here all the time. In fact, we don't need their help. And please do not suggest that I am playing ostrich. I love Giles County and want only the best for it. Granted, there are problems, but let's let those who actually are IN CHARGE work them out. And I know they are trying and do not need interference by troublemakers. Your King George reference is totally ridiculous.
Call me a liar if you will, but the simplye truth is that I have NEVER told a lie on this blog. And I won't start now. Oh, how you hate to be reminded of that. Accept it and move on.

We all have a voice in government. Have you ever read the Constitution? I believe you can see it online if you don't happen to have a copy at home.
Look, I have no problem with someone blowing the whistle on people who are committing crimes. That would also include elected officials. But let's compare apples with apples. If any of our elected officials are committing crimes, then by all means turn them in as they need to be prosecuted. Now, if you want your concerns addressed through proper channels, you have several avenues of communication available to you. Call your representatives, your congressmen, or your commissioners if at a local level. I think smarter people than you and I set this up for us. And having a voice does not mean we call names and do our best to destroy those elected individuals the people put there in the first place.
I think you need to stop listening to the troublemaker-in-chief and try very hard to become a team player. By the way, your strongest voice is your vote. That's the democratic process. Beating people over the head just because they don't do things the way YOU and a few others think they should is certainly not.

Or another channel as most elected officials band together and will not take action against one of their own, unless they perceive it to be an advantage to them. So as this is a free country and every one has the right to take the action in which gets a response. For example we know that our elected officials protect one another and our local media will not report but part of the story and nothing at all if it is controversial. But then again when you have elected officials writing articles under pseudonyms in the local paper what do you expect.

The only way for an average citizen to make any change is to bring the actions to light so the other average citizens are better informed as to the actions of those that are elected. And if those officials are re-elected then it is on the citizens and they have to deal with what we are dealing with in Giles County and Pulaski governments.

One of the things I would like to know is what is being done about Speer using our money to promote himself?

Why do we have a County Commissioner working in the financial management office? Is he even qualified for the position he is paid. Are they prorating his salary when he attends commissioner meetings or is he still paid the same?

Has the money that is not missing ever show up. I have not read or heard one report after Tommy Campbell's and Vanzant's asinine statement.

I can continue but I am glad to see more citizen's waking up to what is going on and who has a stranglehold on the community. And a lot of that is because of this blog. Is it perfect? Absolutely not because of those who police the blog, not to discuss issues, but to attack those who choose to exercise their Constitutional rights and question government.

Maybe one day Giles County government will be something to be proud of but as it stands it is an embarrassment.

It is much better to have a positive attitude than bitch all the time. Nobody will ever listen to you if you continue to be an embarrassing voice for the citizens. You sound just like Barrett. I had rather have a few commissioners that aren't up to par than have some know-it-all like you in office. Go back to where you came from. That will make everyone happy.

It's a good thing that those elected officials are doing such a great job taking care of county and city business as CG claims guess that's why there is no problem with county finances, the County Executive advertises for a Financial Management Director with a deadline three days before the announcement is made.
Only the super efficiency of county officials can run an ambulance service at a half million dollar loss, charge a thousand dollars a mile for a trip and still not be able to compete with ambulance services from surrounding counties.
If there was ever any doubt about covering up for each other I'd bet there wasn't even an accident report made on the wrecked explorer. I remember not long ago a certain locksmith wrecked his truck in my yard and when the law came they didn't do nothing because he left the scene.

Piss on the charter committee. Nothing but a group of misfits. They need to put their personal lives together before trying to change the face of Giles County government. I think the 800 jobs are an indicator that the current form of government is working well when you consider the extreme difficulty of the current economy. The only people I know in our current government that aren't performing for the people are the ones that agree with those that want a charter or are family members if someone on the charter committee. To me, that is a direct conflict of interest.

I find it hard to believe that anyone opposing the present County Executive or for that matter anyone fearful of a super-powerful county executive would support the proposed charter.

The new charter gives the County Executive and the County Executive alone the power to veto any line item of the budget, to transfer 20% of any departments budget however the County Executive wants, and take any remedial action she deems fit during times of deficits.

I'm sorry folks but these are deal killers to me. We may have an inept county commission but I refuse to swap that for a charter that centralizes such financial power in only one person, the county executive. We might never recover from his or her sole decisions.

You are exactly right. That's a good reason to get this charter issue defeated before it gains a stranglehold on our county. We need less government control and not more.
Contrary to what those who are pushing the charter claim, other counties who voted themselves one have had serious problems with it. And the sad thing is that, once they realize what they have voted in, it's very difficult if not impossible to dissolve.
Yours is another good point we need to impress upon the voters of Giles County.
The group who is pushing the charter here may decide to pull up and move someday (nice thought), but this is our home and we will be left here to deal with the mess it creates. Let's work hard to see it defeated. We do have a say in what goes on here. We can vote and MUST vote to see the charter go down in flames of defeat.
Thank you for making a valuable point that we will make to voters.

I challenge you to name one county where the adoption of a charter has proven to be a problem for anyone other than those entrenched officials seeking to hold on to their absolute power.
Second lie you told is about it being near impossible to get rid of a charter after it is adopted. The very same process exist to dissolve a charter as exist to create one.

Will someone please tell me why it is necessary for Dan Speer to take up a parking place at the front of the city offices which when all the spaces are taken, causes we handicapped folks to have to park elsewhere and walk distances that we can no longer manage? I thought Speer was assigned a dedicated parking place at the side of the building. Barring that, he should be parking elsewhere and not in the front of the building which should be reserved for people who need to do busines with the city. Speer's parking today was not just a dash in. He was there a considerable length of time. Regardless, even if its a quick stop he needs to make he should park in his designated space and leave room for those less physically fortunate.

Soon ok? We must see this thing defeated. I just learned that this mess has to be published in it's entirety in the newspaper. It will cost county taxpayers three thousand dollars to do that. I thought the so-called charter was all about saving the taxpayer dollar rather than spending it? No, it's really an attempt (my opinion) to get people out of office whom the voters want to be in office. Silly, isn't it. Why even have elections anymore? Wait! Now there's an idea the malcontents might want to pursue. But I don't know how they can since they never meet to discuss things. Perhaps a conference call?

I also want to thank you for your posts as you continue to convince many citizens there is a need for a charter if they are ever to have responsible representation in this county. Since you seem to be tight with or are one of our elected officials and take it upon yourself to be the voice of those in office who are not responsible with our money and lack the ability to govern as well as set budgets and operate within those budgets maybe you can answer a question? Why don't you share with us where the missing millions are since $3000, if there is even any truth to your statement, is more important to you and your little group that has a stranglehold on this county, than the citizens having responsible and competent government. Is it in Speer's pocket or did some one donate it and take personal credit for the donation? I await your opinion with no foundation in fact.

And before you try to twist any thing in my post, I am simply asking questions and stating I do not believe any thing you post.

Why do we have to wait for you to tell us the counties that are having problems with their charter. Is that one of your lies? It is, isn't it. You don't know of a single one and are hoping to come up with a name soon. If you are telling the truth, just give us the county name and we will honestly report the issues with their charter. But you won't because you can't do that. And you will either try and buy more time or as with most county officials pretend the question never came up and therefore requires no answer. Keep on tipping your hand as to your identity, you are just not that clever!

I see you "interestingly" found a way to side step the issue of the missing millions. Did they, at the budget committee, bring up where the millions of dollars that came up missing are or are the alleged $3000 dollars that may need to be spent and the defeat of the charter by your little band of buddies on the commission priority now? And I am sure you are very convincing in the lies you tell to try to defeat the charter so there will be no accountability with the county finances and those that abuse their positions can continue with the blank check policy until Giles County does have to borrow money from a local institution at high interest rates just to pay the monthly expenses and leave the taxpayers on the hook. We see you support business as usual and thank God we do not have the same friends because I am seeing the Charter has a real shot at getting voted in and a lot of the reason is in part thanks to you. Thanks again for helping to promote of the charter.

Soon? No give us an answer now.

As for a requirement that rthe entire charter must be published in the newspaper is a bunch of mis-truth. There is no Tennessee law that requires the Charter to be published.

The Charter is "published" and has been published at the Pulaski Citizen web site for over a year. That will require you to exert some effort to find and open a pdf. file.

The Charter Commission spent $3,500 publishing 3,00 copies of the charter and they are available to anyone who wishes a copy. Please contact you district Charter Commissioner, District Commissioner or the newspaper, and request a copy.

Now back to your point that there are counties that are currently runing their respective government under the provisions of a charter; and, those counties are having serious problems.

How about I make your answer easy?

1) How many counties currently have a charter form of government?

2) And, what form of charter government are they employing? HINT - there must be more than one.

3) Then, for a bonus ... How many of those counties are having problems with their charter?

If you want a say in the decisions made by your representatives, vote for it. If you want to be told that your not smart enough to make your own choices, vote against it. It's really not all that difficult. I personally think we citizens are as smart as the ones we elect to carry out our wishes. It's not our fault that most of them turn to their own agendas once they gain the power we give them. It seems like they become smarter than their constituents once they are elected, what kind of sense does that make? Keep the power in our hands, at least we will know who to blame if we screw things up.

GTC to CG:

It is totally funny that you are so adamant about ideas and issues that you support yet you are totally incapable of answering three simple questions. This leads us to believe that you have no clue regarding what you are talking about. You dodge questions and state that you are informed and have superior knowledge regarding those counties that are currently being managed under a charter form of government. Yet you refuse to identify any such county; therefore, one has to draw the conclusion that you have no idea what counties are being managed under a charter. And, since you cannot identify a single charter county, you have no idea whether or not they are having “serious problems” (as you stated). This just proves that you have no clue and are a liar.

Because I am willing to help you out …. There are more than one county managed under a charter and less than six. There are four counties that are currently considering changing their current style of government to a charter government.

Now … How many types of charter governments are there? Hint… there is more than one.

What an idiot you are .. Again you dodge the questions. This supports my position that you a pompous self-important person who is interested in the sound of their own voice. Yes there are counties considering Home Rule Charters and some of the elected Commissions are meeting some resistance.

Yes, it is your right to oppose the proposed Giles County Charter. But, it is not your right to mislead and misinform our citizens by saying that there are counties that are currently operating under a charter form of government and that those counties are having “serious problems”. It has become very obvious that your are totally ignorant on this subject and that you have no clue what counties are operating under a charter, what form of charter they have and whether or not they are having problems. By the way … Giles County is having very serious problems.

You do seem to have a very difficult time with a person named Ben Cunningham. I personally do not know him or have met him; but if you hate him … I will undoubtedly enjoy making his acquaintance.

In Tennessee, only Shelby County and Knox County have home rule charter counties. The Shelby County Charter was ratified by the voters of the county on August 2, 1984 and became effective on September 1, 1986. The Knox County charter was approved by referendum on November 8, 1988. That charter became effective beginning September 1, 1990.

Or are they looking into increasing his budget this year if the dues go up at the country club? I see the country club is having some bands play there. I wonder if any of our tax dollars helped that to happen?

Also does any one know what the budget is for EDC?

CG lying again but that ain't news to anybody. Glad to see it found another boogeyman besides Barrett. I saw Cunningham on TV and wonder if that's where CG got the idea to make him another boogeyman since Barrett don't seem to be responding much lately.
Wasn't very surprised to see ole CG make a liar out of the Bible again with his own myopic interpretation.
Since the Bible states that we should pray for those things we want CG says we shouldn't pray for those things we want, the goof-ball
is so full of himself that he can't even agree with the Bible but still thinks of himself as a Christian. My, my what a guy or whatever,

I try very hard to follwo your logic, but that's impossible. I didn't make a liar out of the Bible. Are you nuts?
Let's say a bank robber prays for an uneventful experience at his next bank heist. Should he pray that all goes well during the robbery? Should an adulterer pray that he has lots of success with his vices in the future? You get the picture.
Having said all that, would you be so kind as to tell me specifically where I have lied? No, you just can't seem to stand it that I am not a liar. Your accusing me of that makes you the liar...not me.
Is there anything you really want to discuss?

Why are we on that dumb ass CG again? Every one knows it is a liar.

The more important issue is how much of our money is going to Dan Speer's life style? Does he or Brenda sit on the board of the country club? Why are our tax dollars being paid to his wife's company? Why did it take the state to step in to ensure we got a factory that will employee 800 jobs? why is a psychology major who ran Pulaski into debt as mayor, only built sidewalks while in office, and basically pissed off every working person in Pulaski by putting a strangle hold on industry coming in here while in office. When the EDC held property, illegally in it's name who insured those properties? Was it Speer Horne? There needs to be a complete audit done of his office. In regards to all the cell phones the tax payers are paying for a complete audit needs to be done of his cell phone bills and the numbers called. Then we can see the actual companies that wanted to come to Giles County and were turned away. When you have some one like him as gate keeper to industry it is never good.

How many of the current EDC members were appointed to the board when he was Mayor? We need to quit wasting our money on this guy.

Have ANY of you EVER talked (or emailed with ) Ben Cunningham to even know what he stands for ?

Purely and simply put his mantra is "NO MORE TAXES " and one way he puts his effort (and $$ ) where his mouth is is by providing support and information to any group investigating the introduction of a Home Rule Charter into local government. Most charters (including the one Giles voters get to vote on in August ) constrain their local gov'ts ability to increase taxation without input from taxpayers .
For no more reason than that, Giles voters should for FOR the charter

I can't imagine a person going to commit adultery or robbery ever praying for anything. They should know God doesn't approve of that.

Does not matter what CG thinks he's already proven to be a liar and a brain dead parasite.
When the Bible says to pray for the desires of your heart and that we have not because we ask not DOES NOT mean we can't pray for the wrong things as we have seen many examples of. What amazes me about cg is that he knows so much about other people and their need to repent but can't see his own shortcomings. Of course he'll come back and say "didn't I say we all make mistakes and I have to ask God's forgiveness everyday".
The problem is cg portrays himself as deserving of that forgiveness and no one else does unless cg puts his stamp of approval on it.
Of course people pray for what they want abaseball batter prays for a hit while the pitcher prays to strike him out. Does God answer both prayers? The Bible says God hears the prayers of a righteous man not a self-righteous. A thief or an adulterer can be very successful whether they are praying or not, their success depends on many things from how cunning to how ruthless and lucky they are.
So what we pray for is up to us, what and how God responds is up to Him.
cg has proven to be a liar in a large number of situations and there are very few who can deny the evidence he trys to ignore, but the facts are facts.

wab (1:42)
Look, please don't bother giving me one of your sermons. I can't hear a word you say because I think your actions are deafening.
All I said was that we should never pray for everything we want, because we just might get them...the wrong or selfish things.
Yep. God does hear the prayers of a righteous man. He ehars mine. Does he hear yours? When you call public officials and "private citizens" such as me liars and such, do you think he approves of your behavior?
I was simply making a point that just because we pray for something doesn't mean we should be asking for it.
I do wish you would stop lying. You falsely state that I have been proven to be a liar in a large number of situations. Please list a few of them for my enlightenment.

It really seems that the CG knows less about the Bible than he does about Charter County Governments.

Doesn't calling yourself righteous fall under the sin of pride? It's not for you to determine if you are righteous or not. I believe God is the judge of that, is He not?
