Reserved Parking Goes Unused!

This is the reserved parking space set aside at city hall for the Economic Development Director. So with a reserved parking space why does the Economic Director continue to park in front of City Hall where handicap parking should be?
With parking spaces at a premium we have about  half the spaces around the courthouse on the town square reserved, including two spaces for electric cars of which there are none registered in the county,  and reserved spaces left empty while those who can park in those reserved spaces are taking up other spaces.
Does that strike anyone else as sort of arrogant and disrespectful to the citizens.
Speaking of respect does it enhance respect from the citizens to see law enforcement officers parking illegally
around the courthouse when there is not an emergency?

Y'all have to understand that Mr. Speer is very important and that he has to look important so therefore he can not park with the huddled masses. He has to be out front and in the limelight. He is too busy to have to park at a remote location and walk, up hill, like a normal person to his office.

It's simple enabler if you support Speer having a designated parking space at the end of the building but using a space in front of the building then Barrett and others are absolutely right and you are enabling wrongdoing. How many handicap spaces are there in front of city hall on flat ground?

5:55 Agree, but we are not discussing the city police here. We are talking about Dan Speer having a designated parking space at the side of the building but he insists on parking out front of the building which causes members of the public (some handicapped) to have to walk greater distances because he abuses the parking.

10:25 You are correct, Speer parks out front where it should be designated 'handicapped', but he is still using flat parking on the street where members of the public and visitors should be able to park when they have business in city hall which leaves his designated parking space empty.

What 9:40 meant (as I read that post) was, if anyone parked in Speer's designated space he would have the cops down on you like a ton of bricks. 9:40 also suggested folks show up and park out front, filling all the spaces before Speer arrived at city hall which is for 8:00 a.m. that way he might be forced to park in his designated spot. Might be a good idea if he dont change his habits.

why is it a law for all private businesses and all government entities EXCEPT for the city hall of Pulaski, to have designated handicapped parking but the city of Pulaski does not have to conform to those same laws. If my business did not have parking and accessibility for the handicap, I would be fined by the state until I made the mandatory changes, that includes handicapped accessible bathrooms which I know city hall does not have either. I bet if something happened to Speer to cause him to be handicapped or especially wheelchair bound, he would have the entire city hall leveled and rebuild to suit his needs.

5:05
No, I just get tired of his lying as well as the one or two who defend him. He's quick to point out what he PERCEIVES to be lying in others but can't seem to make the same application to his own dishonesty...namely, that he accuses me of something I do not do. It may seem trivial to you, but I take his lying tongue quite seriously. Ok?
And I'll be honest with you about barrett. I dislike him and many of the things he does intensely. It is my opinion that he is the biggest troublemaker this county has ever seen. But trust me; I am among the ranks of many who find him disgusting.

I know a lot of these people personally, and I am certain that they are not using our money to buy themselves nice cars, boats, etc. Where do you get these paranid ideas? Oh, let me guess. No, you would just deny it.
The REASON county officials dilike barrett and his little entourage of cam corder operators and note-takers is because he (they) are constantly on the attack and unrelenting with name-calling and accusations of dishonesty and incompetence. They think they know better and have all the answers, but, ironically, nobody wants to hear them. And it's not just those in county government who despise these people. Don't believe me? Just ask around town.

I have asked around and a lot of the citizens of Giles County agree with Mr. Barrett and also agree there is an element in our local government that needs to go. Of course that is because of the information that has come to light.

Are you calling all reporters that take notes at government meetings trouble makers or just private citizens that care about how their tax dollars are being spent? If our elected officials are competent and on the up and up why are they so afraid of notes being taken and camcorders rolling. Are they afraid that they can not cover up their true selves to the public?

In regards to the ones who do not want to hear any thing from Barrett, maybe they should take the time to listen and our government would not be shown to be so incompetent or against the citizens. I and a lot of citizens find our elected officials actions toward certain citizens appalling.

Ask around outside your little 1 or 2 friends and then you will see how the citizens really feel. Okay Enabler.

Great post 8:06. I agree. If our officials have nothing to hide, they should welcome citizens getting involved, asking questions and yes, even recording meetings. Transparency is sorely lacking in all levels of our government and the only way to create change is to hold them accountable for their actions. From what I have seen, Barrett is not calling anyone names that are not true, including the confused enabler.

Our elected officials aren't trying to hide things from you guys. But I will tell you that they are sick and tired of barrett and his crew constantly causing trouble. And I'm out and about a lot and pretty much know what people think of that little group of unhappy people. The voters in District 7 certainly know who they do NOT want representing them.
No, I would call those in church who are listening and taking notes Christians. Perhaps not ALL of them, lest you pounce on me for that, but I'd say they are trying to follow the Lord. If that were not true, why would they be there?

I just think it is crazy to have a free speech blog and have different topics open for discussions and no one can take to time to discuss the issue at hand. Everyone on here is so worried about CG and Enabler and whatever other names you want to call each other that good conversation takes a back seat. This is my first time posting so don't try to label me. I am just a reader of the blog and just my 2 cents.

1 space out of the 6 or 7 out front is designated for handicapped parking, but the majority would be suitable for someone who had difficulty getting around. The danald has to park right in the middle cause he's too damn lazy to walk up the hill. The other spaces down by his are filled with the proper vehicles, why not his?

I haven't heard much about this election coming up.
What is Don Parr running for and didn't I see something about a Moore?

Are these three running for the same thing?

Ask him how many employees he really hired there. I want my tax money back.

I see that danny boy's vehicle spent most of the day in front of the municipal building taking up a parking space. Maybe it is more important he does not get that bald head wet than showing courtesy towards those who may be disabled or elderly and have business to conduct with the city. Maybe when he does not use his assigned parking space in the future we as citizens should stop in ole danny boy's office and ask him why he is not using his assigned parking space?

Correct me if I'm wrong -- and I'm sure you will -- but I don't recall Obama ever holding a physically weaker classmate down in the floor and cutting his hair off, do y'all? You people honestly want someone capable of doing something like running our country? Obama has made his share of mistakes in his position as president, but I don't think he has done anything intentionally cruel to anyone. All you fine Christian republicans seem to gloss over things like that when pointing out the POTUS' flaws. How do you rationalize something like that when you are "not voting for Mitt but voting against Obama?" There have been several to voice their outrage at a principal making teachers cry; how is that different from the bullying Governor Romney took part in? Don't even get me started on the dog on the roof. "He liked it up there" my ass. How can you people live with yourselves? I was going to post anonymously so as not to detract from my point with anyone's animosity, but piss on it. I'm Ray Lanier, I'm voting Democrat and I'm proud of it.

The kid's name was John Lauber, he died in 2004 and he never forgot what happened that day, but evidently Romney did. Jesus please us, y'all go ahead and vote for that man, I'm sure he'll be great for this country.

Whoa Ray you need to back up and read Obama's books where he described pushing a little girl down and making her cry because other kids were teasing him about having a girlfriend. Obama even describes how hurt she was as she lay in the dirt with him hovering over her.
As for the dog on the roof you failed to mention the dogs on Obama's plate he ate so often in Indonesia when his name was still Barry Soetoro.
By the way if you read those books you will see his self admission of being profoundly influenced by the very radical communist Saul David Alinsky, and very extensive drug abuse.
I won't bother you with the facts of his involvement with the terrorist murderers William Ayers,
Bernardine Dohrn, Mark Rudd and others.
One other thing you might be interested in if you have any firearms or hold the Constitution dear, a resolution adopted by the U.N. General Assembly in 2009, dictates a conference to be held in July 2012, in New York City, to draft language for a world wide treaty that would ban private firearms along with other weaponary. The "Preparatory Committee for the United Nations Conference to Review Progress Made in the Implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects". Obama is and has been a major supporter of this action.
In response to this in March of this year, U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran (R-Kans.) introduced legislation to prevent any arms treaty from infringing the right to keep and bear arms in the United States. The "Second Amendment Sovereignty Act," S. 2205, would prohibit the administration from using "the voice, vote, and influence of the United States, in connection with negotiations for a United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, to restrict in any way the rights of United States citizens under the second amendment to the Constitution of the United States, or to otherwise regulate domestic manufacture, assembly, possession, use, transfer, or purchase of firearms, ammunition, or related items, including small arms, light weapons, or related materials." While this may sound like a safety net for our rights consider that Obama has by-passed congress before to get his way.
Please understand that this post was presented only as clarification
and balance.

Obama tops Jimmy Carter as the worst president we have ever had. I'm sure blacks are so proud of that. Nonetheless, they will, along with people we go to church with every week, line up and vote for this guy. The blacks will vote for him simply because he looks like them and the whites will because their family has always voted Democratic. Now isn't that a fine reason for voting for a socialist who is both pro-murder of babies (abortion) and pro gay-marriage? There ought to be enough Christians in this coubntry to defeat him soundly. Oh, and don't forget...he hates this country.

Allen, you're right, I probably do need to read Obama's book and then I'm sure I would have some bad things to say about him as well. Does that make what Romney participated in right, though. As for eating dog, you were in the service, weren't you? Were you overseas? If so, I'm sure you ate dog and cat as well. Try getting a hamburger in India. It's a cultural thing which animals are decided it's ok to eat or not. How old was Obama when he ate the dog? Did he go to the Dobermarket and pick it out? I wish we didn't have to try to pick the lesser of two evils to vote on, but it seems that's what a lot of folks are doing. In a perfect world we'd have a candidate we could all get behind and feel proud about, but this ain't a perfect world. All we can do is vote our conscience and that's what I plan on doing. I know you will do the same and I admire you for that. I've got the flu, or I would get into the Bush/Cheney love of congress and their opinions, but that's fodder for another day.

I was not aware of the firearms issue and that does concern me, as I enjoy my weapons. But if I recall, gun control has been an ongoing election point for as far back as I can remember -- which admittedly ain't that far, cause of my extensive drug use -- and will probably continue to be so. BTW, I no longer take offence to your replies to my comments; at least you try and stay above the belt, which is more than I can say for a lot of folks. Good talk, Allen, good talk.

If that comes to pass will the government send men to each house and search for guns? Will they pay you for them? Some guns are rather expensive.

All you have to do is look at what they did in England. Everything from extremely expensive antique firearms to the most useless junk was taken and destroyed. Now crime with guns is at an all time high in that country.

Ray, Sorry to hear you have the flu. It’s never a fun thing to have but it always seems worse in the summer.
I believe that reading Obama’s book, especially “Dreams of My Father” would be a very enlightening experience for anyone.
Please don’t think my comments were an effort to justify Romney. He certainly has his faults and warts just as we all do, they just happen to be different. The major differences are a love for this country and an understanding of how things work, which Obama doesn’t have.
Yes, other cultures do have very different ideas about food, and I certainly have eaten some unusual things both abroad and here at home but necessity makes for a strange menu. My comment about Obama eating dog meat was in response to his criticism of having his dog ride on top of the car. If allowing a dog to ride outside the vehicle was animal abuse there would be need for at least two more jails just in this county. I would also be locked up for transporting a dog on the roof of a car. My point was that the lesser harm would have been to the dog on the car top than to the one on the dinner plate.
You state “I wish we didn't have to try to pick the lesser of two evils to vote on, but it seems that's what a lot of folks are doing.” I’m certainly in full agreement with that thought but as you said that’s basically where we are today. The right of a person to vote as they see fit is truly a valuable than has been gained at too great a cost to be controlled by anyone other than that individual.
I as a conservative will most always see things differently than most liberals and will vote based on the majority of things I believe about the candidate. I believe being informed is paramount to making a conservative decision whereas the liberal is more often swayed by the emotions and what sounds good. Please believe me I have been extremely disappointed in the election of many who claimed to be conservatives but turned out to be betrayers of conservatism. I doubt that there are actually many things that we would disagree on in the political arena. I have some very good friends and family members who are as liberal as I am conservative and we still get along and love each other.
I appreciate your comments and hope we can always communicate without the personal gutter attacks posted by some on the blog. Hope you are well soon and I look forward to reading more of your comments in the future. Thanks

Allen, truer words were never spoken -- at least some of them lol -- as I am one of the black sheep (no pun intended) in my family, politically speaking. At any family gathering, I tend to just walk away when the conversation turns to religion or politics; it seems to make it easier to buy gifts at Christmas when I do that.
I do, however, owe you an apology for my opinion of you when I first started commenting on this blog. It was based on too few facts and my tendency to judge too quickly. I have come to respect your intentions, even though we disagree on many things. Thanks for your well-wishes. That being said, let the flaming begin. I'm too tired and feel too bad to fend off even the most personal of attacks, so say what y'all must. Everyone Vote; up, down or sideways, just vote. G'nite.
