When Is Blackmail Not Blackmail?
Here's the situation you decide what to call it.
When the county budget was made and approved it was decided that an additional $5,000.00 for a new secretary's position would not be funded. Now some seven months later the person in charge of that office says that unless you give him the five thousand dollars he wants he is going to do something that will cost the county over sixty thousand dollars.
Now that may sound very petty and like a threat from an immature child but it comes from an elected county judge. The message was presented to the Budget Committee this week by a spokesperson for the judge. I quote the spokesperson, "If the judge don't get the money for his secretary, he's going to close down the drivers school".

Let's see if Vanzant, Campbell, Jackson, Harwell, etc. have the gutts to tell Judge Damron to take a hike because there are no funds to hire a secretary for $5,000.00
The money was spent to give Barry Whitt , who is very much over worked and no longer elegible for overtime, to make him happy now that he makes $52,000.00
Wait a minute !!!! How much is left in the depleated Hospital Fund? I be that there is at least $5,000.00 left.

Why are taxpayer funds being spent to supplement Driving School? I am of the opinion that it should be funded by the lawbreaking citizen that is being sent to Driving School. I am not in the know on why exactly a person attends driving school, but I believe it is reasonable to assume that they committed a violation. When I have received a ticket, I paid the fine and moved on. If a guilty driver commits an infraction then desires or is required to take driving school, then their fine should include the costs of the school.
What do y'all expect when you have McLackluster and Dumron working together on something? The Hon in front of the judge's name is a joke, and we all know about Clay's character. It definitely meets the definition of blackmail, IMHO.

The offender is required to pay for driving school. Where does this money go?
The money for driving school goes to Crystal Greenes office and the county general fund. The question is if the secretary is needed for the driving school why isn't that pay taken from driver school revenue. Damron never said the secretary was needed for driving school when he made the initial request it only came up now as necessary for the driving school because there is no other excuse for it. How can Mc Alister teach driving after having a wreck while under the influence.

How can the Judge close the driving school?
Does anyone know how much was paid in by those having to go to driving school in 2012? If it will pay for it's self ok.

The driving school will close because there's no money for it.
It costs $130 and brings in tens of thousands of dollars.
He has a part time secretary but needs a full time secretary. He's in court everyday and if a secretary isn't there to accept papers or answer calls when he's in court, it creates a big mess.
Of course other judges have secretaries. Full time secretaries.
How can the citizens that don't want rezoning come up with something to blackmail?

We got a judge playing Obama and blackmailing the county to get him a full time secretary and all people can talk how much smarter they are than someone else or kicking a unknown person's butt. It's no wonder the county is broke and being drained by incompetent crooks.
This is a very good example as to how Janet Parker Vanzant administers the wellbeing of Giles County and its citizens. She has the support of all the administrative offices and everyone is doing their best to conduct county business in the best possible way at an affordable cost.
Janet has no clue and allows anyone to rape teh county coffers. Judge Damron and Barry Whitt cry and whine and they get what they want.

Yep, there's nothing like being able to teach folks how to drive under the influence. You never know when that skill may come in handy.

They're not changing it to less than 200 feet. They *might* change it to 200 feet from the place that sells beer to the front door of the church.

The beer ordnance is the most flexible thing on the books. It's so changeable it should be done away with and since churches only hold services on Sunday and Wednesday I think they should just become convenience stores the rest of the time and sell beer from the altars.

How would anybody know who the director is going to be?
The recommendations for the position are going to be announced at tonight's board of education meeting and the board will make the final decision in April.
