Giles Free Speech Zone

The purpose of the "Giles Free Speech Zone" is to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand. Is The County On The Verge Of A Major Drug War?

In light of recent events that resulted in the murder of one man and the arrest of three including the shooter one must ask are we on the verge of an open drug war. There is no question that the meth business is booming in Giles and surrounding counties but there seems also to be a very big market for other illegal drugs. Drugs are not only people destroyers they are big money makers for the seller and those involved with trying to control and prosecute the dealers.  No matter how hard law enforcement may try they will never be able to control any substance that is desired by a large number of self destructive people.
With this traffic and the money to be made taking control would make someone very wealthy, the wealth will always outweigh the negatives with some people and murder for that wealth will be just a part of doing business.

Now, the blog is looking to make some drug dealers mad. Be careful what you say. You may be the next in line. Treading on dangerous waters.

Stay in your basement and tremble but don't even think about making things better.

How about some decent conversation without calling names and being offended by ill used words? Try to use some good common sense rationale and psitive ways to facing this local problem.

This is the FIRST post I have made on this thread. Accept the fact that I am not the only person on earth who finds Barrett's name-calling and attacks despicable.

GTC says:

Instead of attacking Barrett why don't you attack the drug and gang problem?????

I just Barrett is an easier target and requires little to no effort on your part.

I just hope that the Courts will support our law enforcement officers.

5:37-where did the post say anything at all about Barrett? The statement was to have a decent conversation about the thread w/o the name calling. You see, a conversation cannot be had because someone gets offended for no reason. I give up.

Barrett..
I have a suggestion for a thread topic. Why not a discussion of whether or not Christians should dress up to go to church? Some people say it discourages those who don't have nice clothes to wear, while others feel it is a matter of reverence for The Lord's House. Some even say those who wear coats and ties to church are creating a stumbling block to those who otherwise would repent. I tend to think those who cause trouble and strife are more the stumbling blocks.
There would be no need for name-calling or personal attacks with this one.

You have to understand that this 11:21 character has an axe to grind with me because I do not share his adoration for Allen Barrett. That's his or her problem.

I think over the last 50 years of the Drug War that the drugs are winning. So let's withdrawal our troops, save our money and learn to adapt with an occupational army.

By the way, the majors in the Drug War have long advanced in rank and it has become a General Drug War.

What is everybody's favorite drug?

I commend the Pulaski City Police and the County Sheriff Departments for their continuing efforts to control and get rid of crime, drugs and gangs. I just hope that the Courts are up to the task in assisting them in the efforts.

Thank you Chief Dickey and Sheriff Helton.

There are members of the local law enforcement that take or have taken illegally obtained steroids.

I don't think the war on drugs is winnable.

Too much money in drugs to fight it. War that can't be won.

What a winning attitude you all have. Drugs create too much money and the war against drugs is not winnable.

BULL ... if we had public hangings on the Courthouse Square on Saturday mornings (bring the family) the drung war would be over. The liberal courts and lawyers are allowing arrested fellons off, for the good of our society.

Until then ... parents should be responsible for the conduct of their children. Convected durg users and dealers should be no longer eligeble for any public financial assistance.

When the courts let off first time meth cookers and users; then don't do anything to prohibit meth manufacturing and use by these people .... we will continue to have a problem.

The pain clinics passing out oxy-cotin,loratabs,zanex and other drugs to anyone who ask for them ain't helping things at all.anyone can go to Rapid Care or any of the Doc in a box outlets and get whatever they want just buy paying the office visit. You can go to any of these pill mills and say you have back pain and they will prescribe 90 to 180 loratabs per month which you can sell for 8 to 10 dollars apiece on the street.WHY WORK

11:56, I'm afraid you're wrong about Rapid Care or any of the other urgent cane facilities. I don't know of any of those places that will write 3 to 6 doses of narcotics per day. Reputable pain clinics also will not prescribe meds in such numbers without proof, x-rays, MRIs, etc, at least not in Tennessee. All Tn health-care providers simply have to enter the patient's name into there data base, and they can see every prescription from any pharmacy that a person has had filled. I personally prefer cannabis to any narcotic made. It's a natural substance that does wonders for controlling chronic pain. Come on by the house, and I'll show you my garden. It's surprising easy to grow. God has a reason for everything he does, and he created marijuana. Prohibition didn't work with alcohol and it never will with cannabis either. A huge waste of money, IMHO.

It does hamper your proofreading skills, evidently. It should be "care" in the first sentence and "surprisingly" in the forth from the last. Thanks for your patience.

A few issues brought up by posters in this thread point in the direction of the reality of the situation without actually facing it head on.
The majority of the money from the "Drug War" is collected by the Justice Dept. If there was some magical way to just make illegal drug use go away, law enforncement could not utilize it because they would put themselves out of business. Money collected from these "lifelong" criminals is what funds the entire Police State that we live in. More important of course, is the tax dollars collected from scared citizens to fight these "crimes".
This is the reason the ban on marijuana and any other recreational drug use will always remain in effect. Very few people have the fortitude to live in a free society and if you want to live in a police state the constant police action has to be funded from somewhere.
