Vandal Caught at Court House Annex
Well it seems that the county with the help of Rackley Technologies used a camera to
catch the person who vandalized at least one vehicle in the parking lot.
If you go to You Tube and type in "Vandal Caught with aid of Rackley
Technologies" you can see the video of the act being committed.
A person identified as Elwin Wayne Stafford, a former employee of the county tax assessor's office, has been arrested and is free on $30,000.00 in bonds. According to the arrest report he was charged with vandalism and is due in court on 2 April 2013.
I wonder if there will be any criticism for the use of the camera to catch the vandal as there was when I used a camera to catch a vandal?

Your camera didn't catch a vandal though. Your camera caught someone moving their sign (or Janet's, I don't remember which) away from yours. Not wanting to look like someone is associated with you isn't vandalism.
In the Barrett camera I never saw a video. I guess cg is the only one got to see it.

There's a subtle difference. The camera actually caught the guy vandalizing the car. Your camera didn't catch a vandal, because the person so accused was found innocent. In other words, he was falsely accused...by you, right?

I think what was done at the courthouse was a good idea and they should keep the cameras going all time.

I don't remember a trial for the vandal so how was anyone found not guilty. I do remember clearly a tape of a vandal throwing my sign away and having that tape transferred to a disk and the scene of the vandal being changed to a clear blue sky.
The point I was making is that shouldn't the criticism of one apply to the other for doing the same thing?

Why is it so hard for people to just let others believe in whatever they want to believe in without causing a big fuss. Last time I checked it was not anyone else's place to judge other.

Why don't you go to the District Attorney's office and ask to see the original video cassette from Barrett's camera or shut up about stuff you no nothing about? The case is closed so a freedom of information act can get the tape. I know the tape will not be found. The original has not been recovered and is not in evidence.
Now you tell me if this seems normal protocol in securing evidence. A citizen makes a video of a crime being committed. He then calls the law, reports the crime, shows the video to an veteran officer who sees enough to have a warrant issued by a judge. Now different police officers, not the one that saw the evidence, take the tape to Martin College, leave the tape unsecured with an employee of Martin, who only returns a poor DVD copy, that can not be tested by experts for authenticity like the original tape could have been. Now the integrity of the evidence has been compromised and no judge would allow that as evidence if challenged by the defense. I think that was the goal all along because there are those in our government and police that hate Barrett enough. So every one needs to question if this is how all evidence submitted to our police is handled or just for ones that receive pay from tax payers. It was shown the police have given the person in the video special treatment before so what was to stop them from doing it a second time?
It is my opinion the police and district Attorney showed negligence in the handling of Barrett's property and evidence or intentionally altered and destroyed the evidence. I also believe if Barrett would a civil suit against the police and District Attorney more truth would come out and Barrett would get his money back and some of those that are corrupt in high places would be under further investigation.
And one more thing. Libel is written, slander is spoken, but only if it is untrue. Actually what you write about Barrett could be construed as libel, maybe even malicious with only the intent to defame and tarnish Barrett's reputation. Since your statement about Barrett is untruthful.
It's hard to understand if some of you people late Allen Barrett so much then why do you read and write here. The reason is you want to find out information that is not provided in what Pulaski calls a newspaper. Your written comments and choice of words indicates the level of your education, that must have come from the Giles county school system. I have known Allen for over five years and have never even heard an exaggerated story from him never mind a lie. Some of you people want to get carried away criticize and then hide behind "Anonymous". Your happy with your corrupted local government (Even a state newspaper a couple years ago rated Giles county as the most corrupt in the state) and follow a plan like they have been for 200 years. To everyone that is still cryin about Mr. Barrett showing a tape, why don't you get off your lazy, let someone else do it butt and go get a transcript of the court proceedings. At least you will then know what kind of snake Mr. Barrett was dealing with.

If you thought someone was doing something to you and you tried to tape them and thought you had them, would you take time to go home and make another copy of it or run to the police? We think the police are all honest don't we. That

I read what Mr. Barrett has said in a earlier comment about the tape and what happened. Where are you people getting information about the court said this or the court said that I understood the matter never went to court so how could Barrett pay a fine if there was no court involved.
As I understood it, Barrett had to pay somewhere around a thousand dollars to settle the case. Perhaps I watched Boston Legal or Perry Mason one too many times, but it just seems to me that Mr. McAlister is the one who should have paid a fine had he actually been guilty. He wasn't! Could we close the case now?

Does everyone forget that the police were defendants just like Barrett. Why don't some of you ask the police to put the original video on youtube or return it to Barrett? You can report back to us what the police say about the evidence.

Did Glossip and the police department have to pay as well? If you claim one was guilty are they not all equally? Now the ones that want to hide and find blame with Barrett should be furious their local police department and a judge would conspire with such a man like Barrett to attack a citizen. Now that is corruption at its finest but you will not find any posts attacking them for their actions.
But the question still looms. Where is the original video tape from Barrett's camera and why are the police so afraid to return the original to Barrett? Citizens really need to be questioning the city council and police about this every day.
Some of the dumbest people I went to school with went on to be cops in Giles County. Doesn't surprise me if they do stupid stuff.

I don't understand all this stuff about who paid and what happened and where the tape is, it was all in the paper and fully discussed on this blog. Why can't people just treat each based on how they are treated instead of based on all the rumors and lies. Go to the individual if you have a problem instead of acting like someone in Jr. High.

The city of Pulaski needs to raise taxes. Have any of you drove on McGibbins Road and William Whithworth road lately? It is so tore up. The water or sewer lines must of broke ever little ways on these short roads have been tore up and not patched. If patched a shoddy job.
If they have $18,000 budgeted for a sign and money to build a gazebo at the rec then they do not need to raise taxes. A lot the money to infrastructure. We already are at the highest sales tax rate in the state while earning 25% less than in neighboring counties for the same job. No more taxes, better management of taxpayer funds.
Who ever tore the street up needs to patch it back the way they found it!!!
Those streets are seldom used, the traffic count is way low.

If only people living on those two roads used the street that would be a lot of traffic. There is subdivisions coming out into those streets.
People living on East Jefferson St. and other subdivisions off East Jefferson will go that way if going to interstate 65.
There are a number of streets in my neighborhood that are in need of much better repair. It seems that when the city cuts up a street the repairs not only seem to take forever but the repairs aren't too great. I understand that a repair will never be as good as the original paving but for goodness sake some of the repairs should embarrass the workers to no end.
with over 600 miles of roads in Giles county, Barry doesn't have the financial resources to keep up road. It makes it worse when they are let go so long. However it's interesting how some roads are well take care of. The way patches are applied to roads is a joke. To begin with the patch truck doesn't even have the equipment needed for proper repair. Cold patch is far from the best type of patching. However when it's done by just shoveling some in a hole and maybe running the truck over it, what can you expect. If workers would take some pride in there work it would sure help. I asked the county about putting weight limit signs on some roads to prevent logging trucks. I was told the logging trucks pay extra to use every road in the county. Now why in the world would there be an extra charge beyond regular road taxes?
