Memo From David Rackley Lobbying To Stay As Head Of EDC

This is a memo from Mr. Rackley lobbying to stay on the EDC Board. It was sent out today from Mr. Rackley's office. As most people may know by now, Mr. Rackley's term on the EDC expires on 30 June 2013. For eight years he has been on the EDC serving the last four as Chairman supervising the person who originally appointed him to the EDC. According to the memo Mr. Rackley seeks another four year term and in all likelihood would be the Chairman once again if re-appointed.
When Mr. Rackley's was nominated at this weeks City Council Meeting the Mayor very wisely tabled the motioned with more discussion and decisions to be made later.  Mr. Rackley has now sent out this memo seeking the Mayor and City Council be contacted to support his reappointed to the EDC.
Some questions that I have are when will Mr. Rackley answer the questions already asked about unusual financial dealings of the EDC? Has Mr. Rackley decided that he should make the EDC his permanent possession, I thought that Mr. Speer had the lock on that?
In the eight years that Mr. Rackley has been on the EDC what exactly has the county and city received in return for the unknown amount of money they have spent?
I urge all citizens to contact the Mayor and let him know that eight years is enough. That the EDC needs members that are more approachable by the community and responsive to the taxpayers. I urge all citizens to very politely urge Mayor Ford to not reappoint Mr. Rackley or anyone else to a third term on the EDC.
This will be the only way to ever get a qualified professional business recruiter for Giles County and its Cities.

Alderman Charles Jenkins made a motion to re-appoint David Rackley as chair of the Economic Development Commission because his term is set to expire at the end of the month. Because city appointments are Mayor Pat Ford’s responsibility and he said he was not yet ready to make a decision, the board voted to table the motion so that Ford could present them with a list of possible choices at the next work session.

Did David really state in his letter that he had received no compensation for his service with EDC? I think some people need to be appointed to EDC who were not appointed to the board by Dan. Who know the difference in receiving compensation and not, and will show up to an EDC meeting without having to be lured there by a free meal payed for by the tax payer, or in other words, compensated.

7:59 sure has a distorted view of the definition of the word trouble. If questioning one who volunteers" to serve the public is trouble then our founding fathers were not in pursuit of freedom but just trying to stir up trouble.

If those who "volunteer" to serve the public think a citizen asking for clarity on how the citizens tax dollars are spent is trouble then they need to find different "volunteer" work.

But as usual 7:59 would rather call names and enable the wrong doing than ask questions because somebody might get mad.

Why are appointment to the EDC Committee for a period of four years instead of say for eight years or twelve or for a lifetime? It seems to me the idea of a four year term with one reappointment would create a steady rotation of fresh ideas and enthusiasm coming to the committee. If it's true, as described by the chairman, that the free lunch is an incentive to get members to attend that perhaps either the current members have been there too long or really have no desire to be there at all.
This is the ideal time where Mayor Ford could begin replacing the "old guard", those appointed by Mr. Speer while he was mayor, and begin to create a committee without any obligation to the former mayor whom they now supervise, sort of.
If indeed the desire is to come out of the "retirement community" mentality it must be done with a new enthusiasm, a new, outlook and new leadership. Carrying impressive titles may stroke the ego but does not necessarily lead to accomplishments. Free spending extravagance does not result in community benefits.

It's time for new leadership on the EDC Committee, leadership that is not obligated to the person they supervise.

Are you kidding me? Zimmerman sacrificed on the altar of "justice" for the sake of appeasement and political correctness.

I don't think it is because of political correctness but the way the law reads. Zimmerman caused the death of a kid that could have been avoided. Zimmerman saw the kid, profiled the kid based on his prejudices, and made up his mind the kid was guilty of something. But it is the job of the jury to decide based on the evidence, not slanted news reports.

However, in regards to political correctness, do you think it a wise decision for Zimmerman's lawyer to start of a murder trial with a knock-knock joke when the family of the murdered boy was in the room? In my mind that reflected very poorly on the defense. While a kid lay dead and friends and families grieving and then knock-knock.

Hey 11:33, look at the facts. A 47 page doc was released detailing the 911 calls made by zimmerman since '04. There were literally hundreds. Sounds like a man wanting to know how it felt to shoot someone to me. On the night he shot and killed Martin, the police had already told him to back off and not follow the subject. You think it's ok to kill someone for something the "probably" did? Unless the kid was breaking into George's house or causing harm to someone, that just wasn't s decision that was his to make.

It looks like he had Zimmerman on the ground beating the crap out of him since Zimmerman is the one with all the cuts and bruises. In America if you are in fear of being killed you have the right to kill someone. He was on neighborhood watch detail so it was his JOB to watch anyone in the neighborhood.I guess all the facts will come out in the trial but I think they will need to find him guilty to appease the blacks and keep them from rioting.Maybe then the Mexicans will stand up and demand justice since the white people are chickem shit.Where is the KKK when you need them.

Sure seems like your bigotry blinds you. Police instructed police, Zimmerman disobeyed. Being on neighborhood watch does not give you the authority to violate some ones civil rights or illegally detain them. Martin had the right to beat the hell at of Martin if Martin pursued him and put his hands on him. You have to remember Martin had every bit the right to defend himself as his attacker. Bottom line was Martin was doing nothing wrong when the attack by Zimmerman occurred.

The bottom line is when Zimmerman notified the police and they told him to back off, his obligations ended there. I'm in favor of the "stand you ground law" when used as it was intended. I don't think it was in this case. IMHO, you had a cop wannabe who felt it was his job to be judge, jury and executioner.

Don't misunderstand me; if someone was messing around my house in the middle of the night without a good reason, I would shoot to kill, and I am an excellent marksmen. This was not the case in the Zimmerman fiasco. No one was trying to break into his house so his obligations ended with his 911 call. As far as your post, 4:05, Martin would never have been on top of Zimmerman if George had simply followed the instructions of the police. If you are innocently walking through someone's neighborhood and a cowboy tries to detain you, what would be your reaction?

Best thing is call police then set with your gun, shoot if they try to break in before the police get there.

Reverse racism is alive and well! It those people that keep it alive! Just go out and read Vivian Sims article in the local paper about the house she owned and sold to Dollar General. Why can't she promote that house to a white doctor or a white person to rent. Why is it always "black this or black that " with her. She said " they do eat burgers, fish, and chiicken up on north end!" Maybe a chicken/watermelon stand would be good in her yard!

Reverse Racism, LMAO !!!!!

There is no such thing as reverse racism. If your disenchantment is based on another's skin color then that is racism.

A lot of "people of color" call white people names and get away with it because white people are held to a higher standard than other people of a different color.

This type of racism is apparently condoned and socially acceptable by the moronic masses in the USA and hidden under the guise of "reverse racism".

Racism will never die until you start taking responsibility for yourself and quit blaming others, either past or present.

Frankly, this is an issue for which most Caucasians are much too timid to talk about. Political correctness and fear of being thought of as a racist is largely responsible for this.
I honestly believe that, generally speaking, blacks are far more racist than whites. That's not to say that there aren't a lot of small-minded whites out there who are equally as bad. They are out there.
What's the solution? I'm not sure there is one. But I do believe that, in general, whites have bent over backward to appease blacks and to prove to them...and perhaps themselves...that they are not racists.
I have some black friends who are among my favorite people on earth. I don't think myself superior to them, and it doesn't occur to me that we are anything other than human beings put here by God Almighty. However, I do occasionally find myself going almost overboard to prove that I am not a racist. And I'm not.
But most of us would readily admit that a lot of blacks are just looking for a reason to start crying racism. Just look at what happened to Paula Deen. And in a spirit of political correctness, businesses such as Home Depot and several others have dropped her over something she said close to thirty years ago. And the victim of that racist barb is a guy who was stealing from her. As with George Zimmerman, she must be punished severely.
I know how it feels to be a victim of racism. I used to work with a black guy who absolutely hated me and a select few others, and we were always nice to him. But we were white and could do nothing about it. So, it's an ugly thing that probably never will go away.

You totally missed the point. This is a typical of the emotional majority which includes all races and colors of people. The worse thing about the emotional majority is they are easily manipulated by the main stream media who play on peoples psyche to sell themselves or their idealology.

You don't apparently seem to understand what you are reading. And, you certainly don't seem to have any concept of irony or satire.

11:14 simply said that racism is racism. There is no such thing as reverse racism. Racism isn't like a vehicle's transmission with 3 forward speeds and a reverse gear. The vehicle is either moving or it is not.

Racism is racism no matter who is the target.

When a black person screams racism for no reason other than to alert other blacks and get them upset for no reason, then that is reverse racism!

2:21, I suspect that you are the same person who posted a comment earlier this morning at 7:41.

For some reason you do not have the ability to understand what 11:14 and 1:58 have said. I don't see how it could be explained to you any simpler. There is no such thing as reverse racism. Racism is racism. It is what it is regardless as to who is the target of the insult.

Perhaps someone else can better explain it to you.

Paula Dean's accuser was not a black man, but a white man. Look it up for yourself. When you are in the public like that, keep your mouth shut.

Jackson, a former manager at Deen’s restaurant Uncle Bubba's Seafood and Oyster House, sued Deen and her brother Bubba Hiers last year, saying that she was sexually harassed and that the work environment was rife with discrimination. Deen and her brother deny wrongdoing, according to court records.

After Deen’s May 17 deposition went public — in which she admitted to using the N-word and said that she had considered planning a “plantation-style” Southern wedding — she ended up losing her most lucrative business deals, with at least 12 companies ending or taking a break from their relationship with the 66-year-old TV chef.

This is the first time Jackson has spoken out since the scandal broke.

“I may be a white woman, but I could no longer tolerate her abuse of power as a business owner, nor her condonation of Mr. Hier’s despicable behavior on a day-to-day basis,” she continued in the statement. “I am what I am, and I am a human being that cares about discrimination in the workplace. In part, in this circumstance, I have to be a voice for those who are too afraid to use theirs

Looks like her accuser was a white woman, not a man at all.

The Paula Deen episode is seen as a scandal, and the drive by media says nothing about the various Obama Administration scandals. If President Bush had been guilty of even one of them, the stinking Democrats would have impeached him.

Yeah, everyone was so concerned with the way Dean was treating folks that it took almost 30 yrs for this to come to light. Way to stand up for what you believe in.

Read in the Nashville paper that a big gun manufacturer is looking for a new home in Tennessee. Seems like these were the same people Barrett suggested the EDC be going after. Guess David and Dan were too busy trying to keep their jobs and get more tax money to be bothered with trying to get some high paying jobs for others.
