Reader Suggested Topic: Let's Discuss Positive Things...

...positive things that can be said for the Principal at Richland High School, the Director of Schools, the Principal at GCHS and at Minor Hill. Those seem to be the place with most issues. So if someone would like to post the positives then that would be helpful in figuring out why they still have their job.

Yes, you did make a thread on "positive" things but poisoned the water by suggesting that the discussion be centered around the same old thing. Not good at all.

But I will say that Giles County is a beautiful place to live and raise children. It is a friendly community where people largely get along together and are respectful of one another. Giles County has a wealth of history and tradition. Several have moved here simply because of those things.

The point is......there is an abundance of good in this county. Even more to the point is the fact that there's a lot of good in the worst of us and some degree of bad in the best of us. I think we call that humanity.
I just thank God that my family has been fortunate enough to live in Giles County. Granted, it's no utopia, but....we like it just fine and would never consider living anywhere else. Never!

There are lots of great people in Giles County - The Highway Dept., The Courthouse is full of excellent people, The Sheriff, countless folks in the school system - we are blessed! Jackson isn't one of them!!! Wake up!! Count all of the budget increases and amendment increases he has pushed through the Council and then think about all of the CUTS he claims he made. (IT"S 0) Your subject is positively stupid, not positive. The only thing he cuts is your throat!

We have roses growing in a pile of dung - Sane folks smell the roses - you want to smell the dung! If you want to eulogize corruption publicly, expect feed back. Only a blue belly liberal would sigh, whine, & pine for a trip through the kaleidoscope of Jacksonomics.

I've heard things, both positive and negative about Mr. Jackson, and I normally take them with a grain of salt. But here's something those who despise him so badly need to see. If he is as corrupt as you say, why don't you petition the school board with your concerns rather than to be on this public blog smearing his name? I honestly would like you to answer that for me. Thanks.

Anonymous of, Sunday, November 26, 2006 7:47:17 AM, You don’t know what I want. This topic is a reader request with specific subjects of discussion, with a good reason in mind. There is plenty of negative comments about the subjects of this topic and the reason of requesting a positive topic is to see if there is another side to consider. But, noooo, some people can’t follow a simple request and then there is you…spinning my request into a negative comment about me.

All I was and still asking is for people to post positive comments about the subjects of this topic. There are people, like me, that is not out in the public anymore, due to age, but, how can I get both sides of the subject if people like you don’t follow the simplest instructions and think yourself so smart that you can tell me what I was/am thinking...your reply to my post is absurd.

The following is this topic request..."positive things that can be said for the Principal at Richland High School, the Director of Schools, the Principal at GCHS and at Minor Hill. WE are all wondering why they have their jobs. This post has gotten ugly, but I DO wonder why TT and Ms. McMasters have the jobs they have. Any one out there want to comment? Because neither one deserves the position they hold.

I was asking Kendrick to consider deleting the negative comments, because the topic is for positive comments. So, please explain the position you took with my request. Angry, demanding, laughable, to ask that negative post be deleted, because it clearly ask for positive comments, please explain that one to me.

In my opinion, you are the one that is displaying anger and just because you couldn’t comprehend my requests. SO YOU DON’T HAVE IT STRAIGHT…WITH MY COMMENTS AT ALL! Go to the Giles County School System Budget, page 13; and, you will clearly see grand total expenditures of $23,744,802 for 2004-5, $26.632.659 for 2005-6, and $27,576,190 for the 2006-7 budget year. I think this is what the "Jackson" School Board prepared as a no increase budget, approved by the Council for 2006-7! Next, go to the Giles County, Tennessee Audit for year ended June 30, 2004, page 51, and you will find $22,401,759 total general purpose school fund! That's a fact!

Next, calculate a percent increase each year from the 2003-4 base and you find cumulative increases of 6.0% in 2004-5, 18.9% through 2005-6, and 23.1% through the approved 2006-7 budget in SPENDING! That doesn't include the 2006-7 amendments since August! Very clearly on page two of that 2006-7 budget, account 3900 Undesignated Fund Balance shows $0 for 2005-6 and 2006-7! This is just the tip of the iceberg!

In the last council meeting, Mr. Jackson clearly stated that he and the school board cut the budget every year, emphasizing the hard work they expended to save money. (cut is opposite of increase!) He clearly stated that he and the school board had saved several million dollars; and, it was in the undesignated fund balance waiting to be spent. (The one that shows $0). Some time ago, someone else had claimed the money came from restructuring debt by council members (???). All of this relates to justifying another $700,000 +/- budget amendment, that had to be made in order to give employees a raise - a raise they apparently never received!

Are you getting the picture? The preliminary and the approved 2006-7 budget data was falsified by several million dollars in available funds, at a time when Jackson and the School Board were twisting arms to get another tax increase. According to budget detail, wage related payments for salary & fringes were up almost 18% in 2005-6 compared to 2003-4, and would have been up by almost 25% if the initial budget had passed! The budget cut claims are false statements used to obtain money (the amendment). It is a felony to falsify government documents. The man and the Board may have the power to divert money from general wages to other projects, to favored persons, or build an army of workers; but, that does not erase accountability to the public or the law. Unfortunately some good folks may be compromised by getting sucked into this mess.

The real issue is far greater than imaginable, with money moving here, there, & elsewhere. The fact that the public gets no complete cognizant accounting of School spending, is unbelievable, yet true! If you want to talk about something good, let's start with good bye & start over with some integrity & honesty. After all, it is the school system.

The word "felony" should have some meaning here. It doesn't because of the word "corruption". The State Auditors are aware of the deception (fraud) involved with BEP money (raising property taxes on false premises / not disclosing matching funds, etc.) - That, it is occurring statewide - that, no one will prosecute - etc. Those questions were directly asked and they are the answers I received! Law and morality aside, can anyone name a worse place to build a nest of corruption - than in our education system???? When the icon of value and learning of value is corrupt, it's past time to throw it out!

The school system a cherished institution that is critical to the legacy we pass to future generations. Are we afraid to attack an evil that threatens it, because evil says we are attacking their system? If the knowledge of evil threatens you, then you are part of the problem!

Lets try this another way. Could a place be created on this big bad old blog to give people a place to post their positive comments without any stipulations like this topic has done.

I think people would like to have a spot where all of the negativitiy will not be allowed and they are free to post such things as how they are proud of how their children are doing on the various sports teams, honor rolls, where the nicest Christmas displays are located and so on.

I think people just want one little place in the midst of all this negativity just to take a breath and relax for just a moment.

Is that too much to ask?

It's not too much to ask for people to print positives. The problem is, as you can see from the above posts, there aren't any to post.
Someone asked earlier, 'what do YOU do at work that is so positive.' Well, let me tell you. I go to work everyday and teach the children of this county the things they need to know to pass the competency tests that Mr. Jackson takes credit for. I don't interact with the administration any more than I have to. On top of teaching them the basics required to pass compentency tests, I try to teach them good morals, as many come from terrible homes, I am a psychologist, lawyer, mother to those who don't have one, friend, as many do not have friends, advisor, as many have no one to turn to for questions they have about decisions they face every day, counselor, mediator, as many are bullied on a daily basis, not only by other students, but by principals because they are watched everytime they walk down the hall with their shirt half unntuckned while others of influence wear whatever they want, etc... the list goes on and on.
In the meantime, Mr. Jackson sits at his desk making corrupt decisions, eats lunch out everyday while I have 25 min. to eat, on days that I have the time to eat, and pay for it myself on a measly salary. The taxpayers do not pay my mileage to and from work, nor my lunch. I would love to leave the building for 10 min. to get something good to eat. I can't imagine having an hr. to go out and talk with my colleagues and someone pay for it too.
These are the reasons you don't get positive remarks on this blog.
The system is corrupt, and we teachers go home eveyday exhausted, feeling beat by the low moral of the school administrators, and broke. There are several single TEACHER moms I know of that actually quailify for free lunches for their children. Can you believe that? Yet, Mr. Jackson doesn't see that we could use a $1,000 raise. It seems we are finally getting one- about $850 this yr. WOW. That will help pay my lunch, and the price for breakfast and lunch for my children for the remainder of the school yr.( about $100 per mo.) Thanks TT. I really appreciate it.
Disgusted yes- consierding he makes about 3x as much as I do. But what I do, I do for the kids who I love! They are the only reason I hang in here ( by the way, under the direction of Ms. McMasters).
Anyone else on here want to tell the poster from Nov. 26 4:32 p.m. about your job in this school system? It's not too challenging to tell, only challenging to do eveyday. I'm not trying to destroy anyone-- as the powers that be are doing a great job of destroying us teachers themselves. The only reason we hang in there is because of the students, maybe your own child!!!

I applaud your efforts and love for the children, none of which are mine. And I sympathize with teachers completely. I agree that there are negatives in Giles County, and I must apologize for thinking we could just post positive things about the county in general and not be limited to making "positive" remarks about Ms. M. and Mr. J. From what I hear, that may be difficult to do. I would also agree that something needs to be done to help the plight of teachers as well as the students who really aren't getting all the services they should be getting. The situation needs to be fixed immediately. But until the powers that be recognize the problem, it will not be corrected. Again, my apologies. I accept responsibility for not properly interpreting what this thread is about.

now this is interesting. a teacher upset because mr jackson didnt fight for enough raise and others upset because he fought for as much money as he could get for the school system! which is it? did you forget that he alone cant give teachers a raise? it has to be approved by at least two other seperate entities as well. as for the complaints about mr jackson and principals, i have to question if you REALLY know what they do? you may think you do, but my guess is you dont have a clue. they know what you do because they have (i presume) been teachers before and have done your job, or the same job you do. have you ever done theirs? if not, then i dont see how you can criticize anyone if you havent done what they do, or walked a mile in thier shoes as the saying goes. i used to think i knew what my supervisor (industry) did. i got glimpses of him at work every now and then and thought it was a cushey job.....until he left the company and i got promoted to it. im telling ya, it aint as easy as it looks to be the one in charge. just an observation, for what its worth.

I am one of those pie-in-the-sky teachers who loves the work, loves the children, and who sees each day as a challenge. Not in a negative way, but as an opportunity to instruct...always looking for those important teachable moments that may or may not be in the textbook. Rose colored glasses...I suppose so. If teachers don't have that fire, they ought to consider a career change.
This doesn't mean that I am never frustrated by bureaucratic nuisances, mandates, regulations, and the like. I just love what I do, though admittedly, some days are better than others. But we keep plowing, don't we?

Mr. Jackson has not fought for teacher raises. If he truly had fought, then the teachers would have gotten them long before now. GCEA has worked hard to get this raise for us!!! He has gotten the money a few times, but WE as teachers have never seen it until, supposedly next month. I don't know what he did with our supposed money in the last yr. or two, but I'm not going to rack my brain trying to figure it out.
In response to the person who says we don't know what our supervisor goes through everyday. I DO see what our principal, Ms. McMasters does. She sits behind closed doors most of the day, or sits and plays crossword puzzles during lunch. I wish I had the time to do such. Don't talk to me about not having a clue. I DO have a clue. I see it everyday. Before this year, she missed approximetely 35 days per school yr. What does that tell you? If a teacher did this, the children would never learn the things they are expected to be taught. Is it accecptable for a supervisior at Johnson's Control or Maggateux to miss that many days out of 9 months> I doubt it.
As one poster mentioned, if you don't have the "fire" then get out. I totally agree, and the same should be for the principal.
I personlly have that "fire" and it's the only reason I stay in this system. I love the kids. They respect me and I respect them. That is the difference between my teacher/student relationship and the administrator/teacher/student relationship.
Teachers, keep up the good work. WE do a great job for our kids, regardless of our administrators and that is all that matters.
Our love for the kids is a great positive for this post. FINALLY!

Agreed! It's a free country & blog. Post some nice stuff. There are many more nice & pleasant things happening all of the time. We need to be reminded of the great things that are possible and real in our country - and learn to truly appreciate them.

While you are at it, recognize some of the people who sacrifice so much. "Positive" is realizing the things we cherish are all compliments of freedom - a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. That comes with unending human sacrifice, with very negative things happening to those who act to protect our values.

In the last Council meeting a citizen was allowed to speak in opposition. No council person walked out. everyone remained civil. Two years ago, that would not have been allowed!

Citizens are allowed to speak in school board meetings. Two years ago, two men were jailed and prosecuted for that!

You can participate in your government today! What could be more positive? How can that be reviled as negativity?

hmmm, so if you see what your principal does all day long, then who is teaching/watching your classes? but if your in the classroom as i would think you should be, then how do you really know where she is and whats shes doing? as i said before, my bet is you dont.

as for the days missed, if shes missed that many and they arent legitamate, then that is a problem and it should be addressed by her supervisor, not by you. at least thats the way where i work. in industry, at least in my field, supervisors are required to attend a certain number of training days and meetings each year, sometimes per month. could it be that some or maybe even many of the days shes not there are for this reason? or does she have to report to you each day shes not their what the reason is? i thought she was the boss? again, just my observations.

I didn't say that I see what she does all day long, but I do get to leave my classroom during lunch, and that is when I see what I see. I also get to leave during 5 min breaks in between classes, and I see things then too. The kids see things too, and don't think they don't talk. We aren't teaching a bunch of dummies at Richland.
As for days missed, you say it may not be my business. Well, she makes it her business when we miss as she now wants to know ahead of time when we think we are going to miss and why we are going to miss. The days we accumulate are ours, and I don't see why she needs to know ahead of time when we are going to miss. I'm sure some of her days missed are for business, but I also know she seems to be sick alot, and I'm not sure her days in the yrs. past were ever turned in to Mr. TT. I guess that is something we should check into now isn't it? Just because she is the "boss" doesn't mean she can abuse that power! Instead, she should be a role model.

Let me say something positive here. I am proud to be a teacher, and I am a darned good one at that. I don't need or require someone else to tell me so, and I certainly don't need an evaluation to prove it to me. That may sound like a case of braggadosio, but those who are passionate about teaching KNOW! They don't covet some stamp of approval to feel comfortable in their own skins.

To anonymous of Monday, November 27, 2006 6:54:41 PM & Monday, November 27, 2006 9:40:12 PM

The only reason Tee Jackson has tried to get another raise approved for the system is because of so much heat from the last two times the money was approved and wasn't given to the staff-he just wanted to be able to say see I did get you a raise. He was appropriated the money twice before and they did not get it then-where did it go? As stated elsewhere on this blog Tee Jackson has made the statement he only has to make 4 people happy to get what he wants-and that is what it is all about-what he wants. Giles County does not need a new central office building-that will look real nice to new industry coming in here a nice new central office building and then turn to look at the schools and see buildings that need repair, overcrowding and low teacher pay-boy oh boy he is doing a wonderful job, let's give him another big fat raise!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have children in school still? If so you would be well aware of the goings on in the system and you would not make excuses for these people. Do your homework before you try and tell a teacher what they do or do not know about what kind of job her superiors(used only in the sense of being in a higher postion in the work chain) are doing!

after 2 hours of pondering on the positive, while cleaning gutters in preparation for the predicted polar blast,i came up with a few positives in re: to Mr. Jackson and Ms. Mc Masters.{as i have had no dealings with the other administrators mentioned)Mr. Jackson has approved some positive policy changes in the student handbook. one that comes to mind is in regard to final exams. now,all students can have the opportunity to take them. before, if you did't miss any days and had all a's students could be exempt, resulting in some intelligent students graduating without a clue how to take a final exam. the other is the $1000.oo/employee raise.Ms. McMasters allows the athletic booster club to meet in her school and continue to appropiate thousands of dollars towards the student athletes and coaches needs. she is allowing the freshman class to plant a tree on school grounds in memorial to their fallen classmate. she and Mr. Jackson allowed the completion of the girl's athletic fields(under the threat of title IX action from the office of civil rights)

Alright I'm gonna try some positives for Ms. Mac, let's see...

She's good for the occasional laugh, well that's really it she has those moments where she does something good, but they are few and far between at least from my end. I'll admit I probably don't know many of the inner workings, but still we see and hear things. You'd be hard pressed to hear any good about Ms. Mac at RHS, from anyone. I'm glad we have so many wondeful teachers(many of whom have left, or will be leaving soon). Thank you wonderful teachers!

Thank you RHS student. As a teacher there, I appreciate all of you. You are a good bunch of kids and that, as well as some of the other good teachers that I share my day with, is the only thing that makes my day at Richland !!!

To the poster who came up with a few positives, after 2 hrs. of thinking, I want to clarify a couple of things you mentioned. I don't mean to be ugly at all either, just want the credit to go where it is due.
The teachers at Richland voted on whether or not all students should take final exams--not Mr. Jackson. Also, as an earlier post stated, we have waited a long time for the $1.000 raise, that isn't really going to be that much--only $850 I believe, and that came from much negotiation with GCEA. WE pay dues to have this organization fight for us, and fight they have!
As far as the Booster Club meeting at the school--where else would they be expected to meet? Speaking of the Booster Club, that brings up another bag of negatives, as money isn't totally accounted for their, but someone else needs to explain that further, as I don't have enough of the facts to state something I shouldn't.
Planting a tree for Lance is the only positive I read, and I doubt that Miss McMasters came up with that idea. I'd say that came from the kids themselves--probably the student council, but I may be wrong,-- I'll certaintly find out for you. The kids at Richland loved Lance, and I know they wanted to do something in memory of him.
So, in conclusion, Mr. Jackson can't take the credit for the policy change, is way late on the less than $1,000 pay increase, and the students should probably get the credit for the tree planting.
I really do appreciate you trying to find a positive though. I try eveyday and find very few. I would give the positive credits to the teachers and students, and their ideas that finally get across to the big wigs in control.

i do have children in the school system, though not at Richland, and i do try to keep aware of things. i do have friends who have kids their though, as well as i know some of the teachers at just about all the schools in the county. everywhere but on this blog i hear much more positive about that school and the principal then i do negative. what ive heard from most is that if you do your job she is great to work for. almost sounds to me more like sour grapes than anything on here.

i can tell you this...im glad my children are not at that school, but the reason is because i certainly wouldnt want them to have teachers who are so negative as the ones posting here. would anybody? if i hated my job as much as you seem to, id find another one.

You say the teachers voted on the exams. Could that not have been the principal's decision if she wanted to make it? But she allowed teachers to decide. Sounds like a terrible place to work where you actually have input. You ought to work in business and see how much input you get!!

I just don't understand your thinking here. You aren't comprehending what the teachers are saying here. They aren't complaining about their jobs as teachers--they are complaining about the person they have to work for, thus their attempt at trying to replace her.
YOu act as if the teachers shouldn't even have input as to whether or not the students take exams. These are professionals with college degrees, and I believe they should be able to decide a few things that go on at that school as far as policy is concerned don't you? Besides, someone gave Mr. Jackson the credit for that decision. I'm sorry you weren't happy when it was stated that he had nothing to do with that.
I also wonder who this person is who keeps referring to his/ her job working in the "industry" business. Could you be a sibling of Miss McMasters? What is your interest in this school and why do you constantly compare your job to that of a teacher's job. You say it is so much worse where you work. As a public servant, I see the teacher as having to work for parents, students, board members, Mr. Jackson, and three principals at RHS. I don't think this would be an easy task, but from what I've read, they do it because they love what they do!
Someone said they wouldn't want their child to go to Richland because the teachers are so negative. They aren't negative toward the students from what I've read. Again, it all seems to stem from their experiences with the principal. Please recognize this.
Your child would only suffer at this school if he/she weren't perfect. The principal chooses who is on certain advisory boards, not the teachers who are with the students each day. She is very biased and unless your child is from a family of influence, they won't be chosen for positions that would help their resumes for college.
Someone mentioned that teachers are speaking because of "sour grapes," - they are unhappy for being repremanded for not doing their job and if they did their job, they wouldn't have anything to complain about.
Do you remember Ms. Williamson (HOSA advisor) and Health teacher? She worked every evening until at least 5:00 p.m., won numerous competitions, was named Teacher of the Year, yet left Richland this yr. to accept a position with the state because she felt she wasn't given credit and recognition for her hard work by Miss McMasters. Remember Coach Pickett? He raised tens of thousands of dollars to build an indoor baseball facility, made great improvements to the baseball field, and built a great baseaball program, as well as being a great teacher. Yet, he was let go in an instant for suppossedly hollering at referees too much. However, Coach Hall and Coach Taylor remain at the school after belittling students with unkind words, cursing, and also hollering at refs. Remember Coach Miller? A great teacher, yet another example of Wham Bam you're out of her man!
The very few teachers who sit in their rooms watching movies or even sleeping however, are still there and probably will be until they retire, only because they leave all the power to Miss McMasters, and that's the way she likes it--so don't talk sour grapes at this school.
I hear about it all the time from the teachers who are fed up with the backwards philosophy of this power hungry principal.
I just want to hear the positives that some of you keep talking about hearing, yet you never write here. Makes no sense to me. If you hear it, then write it.
As for Mr. "Industry" you seem very suspicious to me. YOu seem to know an awful lot about school vocabulary and the way things work at the school. I think we've almost figured out who you are. Quit taking up for this lady unless you have words to back her up.
Love you teachers. Hang in there!

no, not a sibling. never even actually met the woman. just going on what i hear and what i read here. and i never mentioned exams. but the way i read that post was being facetious. sorry you couldnt figure that out.

as far as negative, ive been around plenty of negative people. if your negative in one area, is usually spills over into everything else at least in my experience with those type people. and never said anything about not liking my job because i do or mention other teachers except the one posting all the garbage. just said if he or she isnt happy why stay? if all these other teachers supposidly quit because of her, why hasnt he/she if they hate it so bad? i do find it rather ridiculous to ensinuate that its because of the supervisors if someone leaves because they get a promotion which is what i assume a state job would be. as for the other teacher, ive heard and seen enough negative to know the truth but i dont believe in slandering anyone which is really my point here. ill just say my son played babe ruth and if he was anything at school like i saw, well i understand the decision.

anyway if all you say is true lets see the proof. and why dont you take it to her supervisor if you have proof? its easy to say anything here and accuse people of anything here with no proof to back it up isnt it. sounds to me like your grabbing at straws trying to make everything sound like someones fault. anyway its been fun and im done with it. theres no since trying to communicate with people who know everything. makes me wonder why you arent in charge since you know it all......course, maybe theres a reason for that to.

To, Wednesday, November 29, 2006 6:19:18 AM. You are absolutely clueless. Unless you have children that attend RHS and have any involvement with the principal, then you have no legitimate reason to be commenting on anything at RHS. Please leave that to we parents that do have children attending RHS.
The problem is apparent! The students and teachers have no respect for the principal. The students regard her as a joke and certainly no one they look up to and admire. If you can’t understand that there is a lack of positive leadership on her part and know of it first hand, then shut up!!

At this point, I don’t care how you perceive my comments or me! We have to deal with the principal situation, loss of good teachers due to her. Then we are supposed to be happy when people with no knowledge of anything at RHS? I’m sorry you feel that way about my comment, however I am a frustrated parent and want the best school environment for all students at RHS.

If my child was attending another school in this county, then I would not feel justified to make comments about the school to which they do not attend as other have.

There are wonderful teachers at RHS and we have lost some great ones. I am afraid we will be losing more of the seasoned teachers, if changes are not made.

So you can take my comments as you please, whether I suggests for someone to shut-up or not.

I would, the majority of the teachers at RHS, including the ones on here are awesome. Seems like many of you commenting here have no experience within RHS, like I said earlier, you won't find good about here there, just go for a visit one day and see.

--" The students and teachers have no respect for the principal. The students regard her as a joke and certainly no one they look up to and admire."--

you're exactly right, we(the students) lost respect for her long ago.

I wanna point out that many teachers are leaving because it's their time to, they've reached retirement and are ready to take it, would they stay longer if the adminstration was different? I don't know. As for Mrs. W, she had a shot at the state job and got it, she would have tried for that regardless of the administration.

Please people use a handle or something, these anon's are confusing.

I graduated from Richland High School and I can tell you about Miss McMasters. If it wasn't for her I never would of made it thru. She is one of the most kindest, caring people I have ever known. I made alot of mistakes and got into trouble sometimes but she never gave up on me. I didn't come from a rich family or anything either. When I was a Senior it was where I couldn't miss any more days or I'd fail and not graduate and I didn't have a way to school one day cause I missed the bus cause I overslept and there wasn't nobody who could take me. I was crying and I called her at school and told her what happend and she said she would come get me. When she got there she wasn't mad at me or anything and told me it would be ok. I won't ever forget it. And that is just one example of how she helped me and I know she has helped alot of kids like that. She always had time for me, even when she was busy she would take time becasue she really cares. I have the upmost respect for her and always will.

Anyway, I am glad to finally see one good post on here since this is the topic. I just wish that more of her teachers and support staff could say the same. Let's see - your freedom is the right of elected, appointed, or career government representatives to act on the behalf of the citizens however they see fit, to deny citizen access to debate or information input, and to exclude citizens from the political decision making process. That is the ultimate definition of freedom - the ability of "government" to act without recourse or question. It's freedom to govern!

It follows that the citizens and society governed by "your" government are "free to follow" or face the consequences. Of course, "government" includes enforcement, judgement, and punishment for not following the rules laid down by those who run the government. Free movement one step ahead of the whip is called oppression, not freedom! A free society would be free from government! One opposes the other.

The little red spots on your tongue define the affliction. Your goal is becomming the head follower, the leader of the line, the binder of hands that walk endlessly in circles. Liberalism" is absolutely a mental disorder. Don't seek help, It's incurable!

"Liberalism" of today is hopelessly infected by moral relevance and hatred for morality and Christianity. The many absolutes of life are casualties of endless baseless opinion.

The other side of this headless coin is "libertarianism". Both imply liberty - freedom. Their liberty is for the very few who will certainly plunder the very many.

The "flipper" is a handful of globalists who have flipped the coin back and forth to win the minds, souls, and resources of this once great country. A once great innovative and resourceful people are busy selling trinkets to the masses, in exchange for the wealth and resources of our country. The process is based on "spin". Truth is the enemy of spin, and is the only way to save this country. There is no truth in the absence curiosity, investigation, and questioning opinions. Arguing the technique of truth gives "spin" a free pass to infect and plunder our society.

Then which are you, liberal nor libertarian? Or, are you flipper?

Why does truth always need investigation? Why can't we be less paranoid and suspicious? Why can't some people concede that others are at least just as smart as they are? What happenes to cause some people to become so distrustful? Why are others so narcissistic?

These are some great areas for you to investigate, wouldn't you say?

Moral relevance treats truth and untruth equally - believers do not know the difference. "Truth" should be investigated to gain knowledge. Untruth, disguised as legitimate disagreement, a point of view, or fruitless debate are tools of moral relevance, used to destroy morality and truth.

Identifying attacks on democracy & having the guts to openly counter attack it is better described as patriotism. Paranoids cower, hide, and run from the problem. Hemorrhoids get in the way. Which would you rather be?

If you don't have the fortitude to fight for our way of life, then hiding in the shadows, appeasing the dragon, and paying homage is the smart thing to do.

On the other hand, if suspicions are confirmed by evidence and deed, anything less than distrust is worse than folly. If a big spender needs more cash to throw around, is it smart to take bread from your child's mouth to avoid his wrath?

Patriots don't have time to primp and gaze in their mirror. That's reserved to flashlight escapades while hidden in a closet. What could be more fun than planting a foot in the dragon's rear end, just to watch the fire, smoke, an writhing of a giant that can't find that rear end without an able bodied assistant who knows where to look? If you are afraid to get a little soot on the three piece suit, happiness will forever bypass you.

The only difference between you and your enemy was the fact that he had a choice of shooting you or being shot by his master; while, you were supposed to be fighting to protect your country and freedom. If you are what you claim, why are you not fighting for freedom now? Our Constitution defines our freedom. Most of that definition restricts the power of government and empowers the people! That's what the argument is all about!

Ahh, but, this is a Blog, where anyone can be anything with the stroke of a key and a wee bit of imagination. What patriot would belittle real patriots - senior citizen veterans who were persecuted by a pack of two bit tyrants who claimed supremacy over our Constitution? Who would rant and rave about so called meddlers who demand open access to their government? Who would defend those who openly oppose open government? Who would support deceit and anything goes conniving to tax a community of poor citizens to build monuments to bureaucracy? Do the lips look in the mirror and find disgust for what they see? It isn't slander when that which smears is from within. Finding one's self fits the profile of a tyrant is not the fault of he who asks! It's your conscience and call to shape up.

Hark, hark, what is that roar we hear from the shadows? Is it a dragon, a lion, or a mouse with a bull horn? Is it Moses, King George, or Mary Poppins dressed up like Napoleon? The words we hear are cries to free the government, not the people! That narrows it down to a few people - some of them may not own a three piece suit, but sure do know what a free meal is.

Oh yes, we vets fought for (among other things) your right to complain and call people like me the names you feel appropriate. That's ok, because I don't need YOUR approval anyhow.
By the way, if you are so unhappy with government, why don't you run for office? I suspect that you already have and was defeated. Would that be true? If you don't like your elected officials, the proper way to get rid of them is to peacefully mobilize voters to vote them out. Isn't that the democratic way?

I would shoot the enemy before he shoots me - wars are lost by those who hesitate. No one criticized your service to our country, and you never need any one's approval to justify doing it! You are not the only one who has fought for or sacrificed for freedom. You have more than my approval - it's called respect & gratitude for your service to our country!
Unlike some, I appreciate and treasure our form of government enough to fight those who would destroy it with corruption and fraud. That obligation does not end with a discharge from the military, nor is it erased by honorable service. Contrary to your statements, I do support and appreciate almost all civil servants & those elected. It is un-American to wait for an election to bring accountability to the very few who violate their sworn oath of obligation to the Constitution and the people. Public opinion can correct situations that would otherwise destroy good people in politics - condoning illegal acts invites jail time - think Nashville & the lives destroyed because no one said NO! There is no interest in politics - never was, nor never will be. I answer to God, Country, & conscience & have promised at various times to defend them when necessary - holding corruption accountable has nothing to do with judgment - that's up to the courts & God.
Please read Article 8 of the Constitution & Amendments 1 through 14. They are profound guarantees of individual freedom, most notably, protection from government tyranny that could destroy those rights. You were shooting and killing enemies to protect it and guarantee that freedom for family & countrymen. You demand and get respect for those acts. Think about it, and you'll respect those who are trying to do the same thing without bullets.

The respect you have is for dodging bullets, not for slandering & maligning those working here and now to preserve OUR rights and freedom. If you will read Article 8 and the noted Amendments, you will not need a road map to identify those who are working very hard to destroy those rights on a local level. You have maligned and undermined their efforts to insure open and honest local government. Citizens (you and I) can now speak to the school board without being jailed. You will be treated with respect by the Commission. I doubt that any commissioners will have the audacity to walk out when you do.

I have neither slandered nor smeared you. Derogatory statements about those who ignore their oath of office or obligation as a citizen to uphold the Constitution, seem to offend you to the point that you feel slandered and smeared. It isn't me who is calling you to task, it's your conscience. If you're mad, look into the mirror & smack it. Then look at your fist. Do you hate the fact that elected officials are subservient to the people, that government workers are CIVIL SERVANTS, that they are obligated to honor the Constitutional rights of the citizens above all else, etc. That service is an honor, not degradation or discrace! You are too passionate about it to not be one of the very few idiots who think they are or were the omnipotent wizard of twinkle town. Get over it, you're in Giles County amongst some really fine people. What on earth are you talking about? Have you seen your therapist lately? I am a proud citizen of Giles County and am equally proud of being a patriot.
I have never said I blindly follow government, and would be against those who are deceitful. But I am just as against those who refuse to use the democratic process of governance. My position is and has always been that I stand against those who use smear tactics to defame and belittle those who are in office. I don't go around calling elected officials tyrants, liars, and bandits. Do you? I vote against them when the time comes to do so.
I would never be part of a group who seem to be on a mission to destroy those they disagree with or dislike.

From what you say, there is very little difference in philosophy or deed. I am against deceit. You can add corruption and officials who knowingly, openly, and repeatedly use the power of their office to violate the Constitution and their oath of office! If citizens waited for people like John Ford and various others to be voted out of office or censored by their peers, their criminal acts would never stop! Article 8 and the First Amendment both came well before the right to vote, for good reason! If you read the rest of the civil rights Amendments, you will find profound wisdom and purpose - things worth putting a life on the line to preserve and honor. I doubt you will disagree with any of that!

Slander requires false malicious statements. Fraud is relatively easy to define, as is a specific denial of a Constitutional right. Conflict of interest is as simple as an official act that results in financial benefit to the acting person. With this in mind, I add the obligation to keep each other out of trouble - speaking up privately and in public if necessary. Several of the Nashville jail birds would never have been convicted if someone who knew, stopped them! Some are ignoring this! Are we still in agreement?

The "little group" you scorn is very well informed and has the facts on significant issues. Talk to them - discuss & challenge - ignore the petty little things each of them, you, or I may carry in true political BS fashion. I thought I knew what was in the Constitution until I was challenged & sat down & read it. If you do & you understand the simple words in it, life will change & you may not sleep quite as secure. It has been eroded by both political parties to the point of near meaninglessness. Read & see if we agree?

I just don't like the arrogant and belittling tactics being used. It's never been (at least in my mind) a question of who is right or wrong. If I can make that any plainer, please advise me as to how that may be accomplished.
As for the Constitution, I don't need a refresher course in United States Government. There are others besides you who can read and properly decipher the document.
In all kindness to you, I will say that you appear to be a very angry and hostile person. Are you? If so, wouldn't that make you just as dangerous (perhaps moreso) than those you feel are tyrants and liars? Just an observation.
And finally, can we agree to disagree without becoming disagreeable?

"Slander requires false malicious statements...."

Basically, but not exactly true. It can still be slander according to the law, even if the statements are true. The person making the accusations has the burden of proof. So, if you can't prove what you're saying in a court of law, then it's still considered slander and you can be held liable. Just FYI.

One of the anonymous persons above asked ealier who engaged in illegal acts? Well, I have one for you.
Mr. T. Jackson and the school board have most definitely broken the law in the raises that were to go to the teachers of this county. Now get this--the teachers, county commissioners, and the citizens of this county have been lead to believe that the teachers were getting a $1,000 raise. WELL, we got our checks yesterday and guess what? We only got an $849 raise. Can you believe that the school board took out taxes and social security before giving us our money? Yes, that's right. They broke the law. Not only did they take around $250, I believe we are being taxed again as the raise was listed as gross, therefore, taxes and S.S. come out again.
Mr. Jackson is a crook, and thinks we teachers are a bunch of dummies. I suspect he was one as a teacher and coach in his day, but we aren't. A class action suit would be appropriate at this time for what has been done. In the meantime, I think the county commissioners and the citizens of this county should know that we DID NOT get a $1,000 raise as was promised. When some of us called the central office, we were treated like "nobodys" and no one really had the "time" or "knowledge" to explain what they had done . I tell you, the school system is crooked, and Mr. 3 piece suit, is doing something with our money that should be investigated. Call your favorite teacher and let he or she explain to you what has just happened because I don't think the commissioners even know what the school board did. When they do find out, I believe they need to take a good, hard look at the going's on up on the HILL. Mr. Jackson is using the teachers of this county to his benefit, and I honestly feel raped by this sorry Director of Schools. He needs to go either to jail, or back to AL. Better yet, he should go to jail in AL.

You are so right about slander and defamation of character. The burden of proof lies with the accuser. Just look at the above post as a prime example. Mr. Jackson and/or the school board could sue the pants off that person (obviously a teacher).
As for not receiving the full $1,000 raise, anyone should know that there are deductions. Do you think you should get the raise tax free? If you do, then I'm sure you don't teach math.

All the empolyees of the school system received a $1000 raise. The post about paying taxes is correct, but in normal cases the employers pay their portion of the taxes and the employees pay their portion of the taxes. In this case the employees have to pay the employers part of the fixed taxes and also the employees portion of the taxes. This ended up with the employees seeing in their yearly gross income a difference of either $879 or $862. Most of the time an employee only pays the employees portion of the taxes, so it becomes a little confusing when discussing the fact that the employees had to pay both taxes. Most people understand that taxes have to be taken out after they receive the raise, it is just hard to adjust to the fact that this time the taxes were taken out before the raise was received and after the raise was received.

The answer is simple - The employer must pay their tax by law (employer SSI, Comp., Medicare, etc.) & can not legally pass it to the employee. If there is a contractual agreement - (promised & so noted in council approval) for $1000, then employee gets it. Simply file a complaint with the IRS & Labor Board & the idiots will be forced to pay it. Everyone affected should file a separate claim just to stuff it you know where. Not slander or anything complicated - just business as usual on the animal farm.

It should have been understood that the $1,000 raise would be subject to taxation. How simple can that be? But......some feel it needs to be "investigated" and complaints filed. I suspect that a complaint of this nature would be quite laughable.
By the way, how do you know the employer paid none of its portion? I suppose some are privy to inside information and others are not. Wish I could get a tax free raise.

To grumpy 12-15/8.47 The angry hostile name calling person you describe is in your mirror, not ours. Lighten up - life can be fun, matter of fact, it is! Seems you agree with everything except doing something about it. Gunny talks a good game, but won't crawl out from behind his rock to confront it & do something about it. He wants to hold a truce & get the enemy to vote on it. Maybe we should all buy a Koran & a bag to put over the little woman's head, send the kid to bomber school, & cut any throat that DISAGREES. I wonder if we could reconcile that with the icon of liberalism (Ted Kennedy)? Your fun is like winding up an old clock - It runs for a day or two, goes nowhere, & always stops half past nothing.

Barrett isn't hiding. He openly presents facts with his statements to those affected, as well as those who can help do something about it. You call him an arrogant meddler. You say people who speak against corruption and closed government are angry and hostile. Would you feel better if he wait till election & write a note with his vote?

What is a patriot? Does he hide? Does he belittle those who will not hide? Will he take time to read the covenants he stands for? Will he face danger, humiliation, and jail rather than submit and denounce that which he believes? Don't blame me for the bells those thoughts might ring in your head. Those questions are not calling you anything! The thing in your mirror might.

I'm not sure if you're one of those who jumped ship, was run off, or still sleeps with a Napoleon bear - in any event, it's a very small circle of adversity. Just curious - it really doesn't matter. Time to drop you back in your mud puddle & let you swim until the water evaporates. With a little luck, you'll turn into a toad before the puddle dries up, & then into a Pansom Hince who will save Giles County from the likes of Mr. Barrett. Smile - life is too short to hate!

12-15 8:47 The person did explain. She said $849 GROSS. GROSS pay is BEFORE employee tax deductions - meaning, income tax plus employee portion of FICA and Medicare TAX would have been deducted from that $849 gross reported income. The employer is responsible for contributing and paying their portion of SSI etc., not the employee.

If the pay stub says $1000 gross pay & income & EMPLOYEE SSI taxes etc. were deducted, including any % of employee paid retirement contribution, the teacher was paid correctly!

As for Mr. Barrett, he is just as entitled to his opinions as I am mine...or vice-versa. Would you agree? And I don't care one bit if he's hiding or not. Who said he was anyhow? The teacher was NOT paid correctly. If the teacher was to get the $1,000 raise promised, then that is what he/ she should have gotten. Instead, approximately $240 was taken out of the raise as the emmployer took out taxes, and FICA before the teachers got the $1,000. That is illegal. On top of that, the teachers are being taxed again with the $879 they received. Ask any business executive about a raise they give their employees and they will tell you that they don't take taxes and S.S. out of the raise before giving it. The school board has once again screwed the people of this county, and especaily the teachers who work so hard for the children of this county.
By the way, whoever writes here so negatively needs counseling. The fact that you say the teacher is in violation of slander for his/ her remark, is crazy!!!!!!!!!! This most negative person needs to get a life. I have NEVER seen such hatred in my life. It makes me not even want to post on this blog because the negativity is sickening. I ask that this person start their own blog titled: "Let Me Gripe--I am Mr./Ms. Scrooge." You have no place on this positive blog with the ugliness you use. And I WILL NOT be silent when this continues to happen. After all, this is a "free speech" blog. Am I right about that? You know I am.

To address the $1000 raise that was recently passed by the county commission and board of education.
For all employees with the Giles County Board of Education regardless of your position except principles. All received a $1000 raise. Which was retro back to 7/1/06. The first 6 months, July thru December was paid out in your December paycheck. When you get paid either on 1/15/07 or 1/30/07 you adjusted gross income should increase by $83.33. Please compare this with one of your paycheck stubs before December. Example: October/November
If you do this you will see your adjusted gross income has increased by $83.33. No matter who you are in the grand ole' USA you have to pay Social Security taxation (your part), Medicare (your part)and everyone seems to be forgetting that you the employees is matching 5% of your retirement that comes out of this $1000 raise. There was alot of confusion that came about from the stupid letter that Tee Jackson wrote and Kathy Norman signed. This only added insult to injury. I will monitor your January paychecks to make sure that you truly got the $83.33 increase. Just a note to remind all employees of the GCBOE that are property taxpayers you will probably see a property tax increase either in 2007 or by 2008 because of this additional raise. Reason being, the County Government has to maintain a maintenance of effort to the County School System. Anytime there is an amendment to the budget and the budget is increased that obligates the County more in maintenance of effort to the school system. For the teachers that get on this blog and complain, you have a great paying job in Giles County and the benefits to boot. It truly gripes my rearend to know what the average teacher pay is in this county versus the number of days you actually work in a calendar year. Unfortunately, it is less than 10% of teachers who do
100% of the complaining. The other 90% or so do their job without any complaining.

To one who knows...
Thank you, thank you, thank you for clearing up the idea that anyone has to pay taxes out of his/her gross income. There is no free lunch.
In addition, thank you for explaining that 10% do the complaining while 90% go about their work without griping. I believe that can be extrapolated to the 10% (or less) in this county who are doing the whining and complaining on this blog. Good point!

To One who knows.....
First, I was not complaining in my post, I was explaining the raise.
Second, I am here to say NOT ONE employee received a $1000 increase in their gross income.
Here is the break down: (and I am the one who knows)
Certified employees that are paid for 10 months of service received a line item listed as "other" directly below their Regular Pay and above their Gross Pay. On this line item (if you are not a coach or receive a supplement of some sort) the amount was $293, which was back pay for August, September, October and November. If my math is correct (and I guarantee it is) this figures out to an increase of $73.25. If you multiply $73.25 times 12 you will get $879, which is the amount of raise the employees received from the board. This was then added to your regular pay and that became the employees GROSS PAY which was then taxed.
Non certified employees had the same steps just different amounts. Their amounts were $71.83 per month for a total increase of $862.
The employees were extremely grateful for this increase, they just have been given conflicting information which has led to confusion. The difference in the pay of $121 ($1000 minus $879) or $138 ($1000 minus $862) was how the board covered their portion of the fixed taxes.
Please let me confirm that all the employees understand they must pay taxes on their income. The confusion came from the taxes the employer had to pay, and how they used a portion of the $1000 to do this.

No this issue does not need an investigation, it was told to the employees prior to the raise being approved how it was going to be paid. Some employees did not understand how this was going to be done, they were just like the people that post "of course taxes have to be paid". The only problem was, it was confusing. The public also did not know this was how it was going to be done. All the employees are happy to have received this raise.

For you people who are dues paying GCBOE employees you should ask your rep. They negotiated the raise as was paid. They knew the taxes were coming out first and were responsible for it. You voted to approve the raise. Maybe you should come to the negotiations or at least talk to the person in your school who represents you at these meetings. All of this was in the new negotiated contract that was approved by GCEA members.

Yes the teachers and the support staff did get screwed. But keep in mind that Uncle Sam will ALWAYS get a piece of the pie. Mr. Jackson gave the teachers that raise before it was even negotiated. He gave them the raise before the board even voted on it. He took it upon on himself to give the raise and when it was negotiated Mrs. Braden and Mrs. Norman were very atimate that that was it and no budging. Unfortunately when the commissioners voted in favor they thought that the school board members that would have been in support of this money were sadly mistaken. Such thiefory will have to be stopped and the teachers will have to take a stronger stand to get certain board members to be able to help them. So many are just happy for what they got and ALL should have gotten alot more.

It's Christmas, Santa stepped in some dog dew, drug all the soot down the chimney, & left a trail of soot & dog stuff from the fireplace, across the carpet & into the kitchen and back. Mom didn't leave enough cookies, so santa ate a few of yours on the way out. The positive side is, It could have been a burglar who would tear up the house, eat all your food, & take all the stuff that was under the tree before he came.

Moral of the story: keep the chimney clean, don't let the dog out on Christmas eve, leave lots of cookies for Santa, & if you don't get what you think you deserve, you may be lucky you don't. Smile now, get even later.

If Mr. Barrett isn’t on welfare, pays his bills, doesn’t ask you for money, food, clothes or anything else what difference does it make if he has a “real” job or not? Maybe he was smart enough to make enough money to not need a “real” job. Whatever the situation I doubt that he is relying on this disgusting little anonymous to take care of him. Based on what I’ve seen from Mr. Barrett he’s more than able to take care of himself. He certainly doesn’t seem to be one of the many “girlymen” like anonymous who has to hide in order to speak.

Why don't you try to get a better understanding of what constitutes name-calling? Look it up in your dictionary, google it, or whatever. Get a grip on the concept. It's going on with regularity on this blog.

Sadly, you mistake my defense of those who are smeared on this forum as ambivalence and apathy toward your "truths" about our government and a hatred for those who are constantly finding fault with it. Wrong! I am not an ostrich who quietly accepts anything that is handed down. Nor am I am one who is full of resentment and dislike for those in government whom I disagree with. I simply vote against them and support candidates of my choice.

No, I do not hate those who are constantly pointing fingers, finding fault, and presuming to have all the "right" answers. Those who would ridicule people like me (didn't say me personally) and tell them they need to be "educated" into reality. Whose reality?

The point you may be missing is that, just because we think someone is nutty about what they believe, we still ought to RESPECT them as people who have a right to those beliefs. In other words, we don't get on here and call them a nut because we think them nutty. We all have a right to see things the way we see them. And just because others do not have your perspective does not mean that they are ignorant and wrong. OK?

As for my need to get a life, let me just say that I have a wonderful life, a loving family and many other blessings untold. The Lord has been mindful of me.

Merry Christmas!

Dear hood ornament, I doubt you will be the leading edge of a BMW. Maybe a "BM" if caught at the right moment. No, You will probably be etched in the grille of a Freightliner holding a possum in your hand. No-one will ever know if you were retrieving a road kill, or being the good citizen trying to help a bewildered possum cross the road. Seeing as you have no clue to right, wrong, or good taste, we all will know what you were up to.

You are absolutely hilarious. If I can't be the BMW hood ornament then look for me on a Lexus. I'll settle for that.
As for opossum, I am not an animal rights kook, and I don't eat them. Do you?
Could you define what you think good taste is all about? Surely you aren't talking about opossum!

The price of eternal peace is but a blink of the eye protecting it while here on earth. The reward of eternal damnation is for not protecting it during that blink of an eye while here on earth. Has submission ever bought peace? If you submit to corruption, pay for it, and salute those who run it, are you not corrupted in the process? I agree - Give peace a chance, salute those who are fighting to preserve it - in the Mideast, at our borders, and right here at home!

I for one tried to leave positive posts, but it immediately gets back to smearing Tee Jackson, certain commissioners and school board members, Mrs. Vanzant, and others. For the hundredth time, I am not here to argue who is right or wrong but how some people disrespect those who differ with their opinions.
If you want to attack corruption in government, I would think you could find plenty of it at the state and federal level.
Merry Christmas.

Bubbles from the well cry for help. We have a solution. Get a sonar communicator. Pay Flipper a modest fee to record an appropriate message of peace & hope. Tie a rock to a 2 way communication device. Drop it in the well, off of Winnie the Poo's head, bouncing to rest at his feet. After Flipper's message, maybe Mr. Barrett could reach Whinnie the Poo by projecting his voice at Whinnie's feet, rather than from above the knot that's now on his head. That way, Mr. Barret will be beneath Whinnie the Poo rather that talking above his head.

That will provide peace in the valley. Whinnie the Poo can be drug back out of the well so he can wander back to his briar patch and hide until the sun goes down. Mr. Barrett could have a little peace & enjoy his Christmas. Definately a good plan!

Kendrick,

Start a thread entitled "Mr. Barrett vs. Giles County. That way everyone who wants to complain about him or some other ridiculous subject can go there. This thread was supposed to be about positives about people in the school system.

I don't recall it being named Allen Barrett's forum nor those who want to crucify public officials forum.

People, these are meant to be places for common sense debate and discussion; not a place for libel, defamation nor out and out lies about people.

Try hard to do better.

Right you are - This county is filled with beauty and wonderful people. It is truly touched by the grace of God. One can not stroll though the woods, gaze across the hill sides to the valleys below, or survey the workings of man about us, and not be overwhelmed by a far greater purpose and joy in life. All of that splendor and wonderment is possible only because we are free, not chained to the tree, nor alone to forage in a wilderness. For all of that, we owe a lot of thanks to God first, then those who are in uniform trying to protect the rest of us.

At least now Mr. Barrett knows that I am not the only one who gives him a spanking every now and again. Someone said he could rest and enjoy the holiday season (paraphrasing here) if people would stop picking on him. I would say that he could rest and enjoy the season if he would just lighten up. I'm sure he is a real joy to be around anyhow, but especially when he is angrily typing one of his intellectually brilliant posts.
I'm sorry, Mr. Barrett, but you keep opening the door for this sort of criticism. And, as you very well know, I am more than willing to point things out to you.....and to anyone else who belittles the opinions, truths, and beliefs of others. That's not the way to gain new converts to whatever your "cause" may be. Is it?
You keep coming back to accusing me of having no interest in facts or truth. Wrong once again. You try to portray me as some imbecile who blindly accepts anything. I don't like a lot of things some people do, but that gives me no right to try to humiliate them and embarrass their families to make me feel better or look smart (feather in the cap thing). I do not seek the approval of others and have no resume to build. OK? So just remember that each and every time to accuse me of that, I will make it an issue as well. That's simple enough too, isn't it?

Jealous of his knowledge? Oh, please. This county apparently didn't feel too much of a need for his help at election time. Seems I recall that he soundly lost his bid for commissioner. Do you ever wonder why he is so angry?

If all of you can't get along at Christmas, I guess there's no hope at all for you. I will continue to pray for all hearts who hold such negativity and hatred towards their fellow men.

To Angel...
I wish things could be different, particularly at Christmas, but the smearing and belittling of others isn't likely to stop on this blog. But, we can't just allow them to get away with it, can we?

There have been some mean and slanderous remarks made on here about county officials, and that should never go unchallenged. We all should be mature enough to respect the opinions and beliefs of others and not talk to them like they are second-class citizens.
We are all God's children. May He bless us all.

We have lots of wonderful people in our school system. But will I name one? No way. Anybody named as a good teacher on here would quickly be subjected to any "dirt" that could be dug up...to prove some point..whatever that might be!
So I wouldn't be looking for too many posts on this blog that would identify a person by name.....that is, inless it is something negative and hurtful. Shame, shame.

Here's the kind of help Giles County really needs. It needs all of us (including those who know best) to roll up our sleeves and work together for the betterment of everyone.

But can Giles County ever have this? I'm afraid not as long as there are those who are constantly trying to tear it down and impose their "right" way of thinking about things.

I'm a little ashamed when I hear others from surrounding counties laugh about all the whining and complaining going on here. But, in spite of it all, I wouldn't move. I've always heard it said that whiners will eventually stop if they are ignored. In this case, however, that could be a very long time.

I happened upon this post and notice their aren't too many positives. I agree that there isn't much positive to post about the school system here. I can't believe the things that go on with our Director of Schools and the principal at RHS. She is never at school doing her job, and he is never available for comment. It's all hush hush and lies with him, and she's not at school enough to tell a lie. How does she keep her job? As with the Director, can't the school board fire him, considering the fact that they are his bosses? It's time to hold these two accountable just like every other employee for any other business in any town. I think the State Dept. of Education needs to be informed of the facts going on between the two of them. Can that be done? I think I'll write the State Dept. tomorrow and see if something can't be done that way.
People out there need to get involved and quit sitting back watching all this take place. Come on people. Contact your board memebers and the Board of Education in Nashville. WE need movers and shakers !!!!!!!!!1 It seems the blogs about RHS have died. Has everyone just given up?

Okay, it's obvious there aren't positives to talk about concerning Mr. Jackson and Ms. McMasters, so why don't we change the topic of this blog? They really are two of the most pathetic administrators I have ever seen. Mr. Jackson is a lazy, arrogant man, but at least he comes to work. Ms. McMasters is not at work most days and how she gets by with this is beyond my comprehension. What would happen if the teachers took off as much as she does? Can you imagine what that would do to the budget of the school board when paying for substitues? Does she have to call Mr. Jackson when she isn't going to come in to work? I don't think she does because I have heard that he has called the school several times wanting to talk to her, only to be told that she isn't in. So, who does she have to answer to? Apparently no one. Oh to have such a job--don't have to tell anyone you aren't coming in to work and probably getting paid for it anyhow- WOW!!!!!!!!!
This system is so corrupt and in the name of helping our children! What a shame. I think I will go to school and get my Masters in Administration, kiss some tail, and get a job like hers. Boy would I have it made.
Is there anyone out there who can check on whether or not she is getting paid for all these days she isn't coming to work? If she is, then the county is losing some big bucks on this employee . Shouldn't that be investigated by the county or the state?
If she's too sick to work, then she should be replace IMMEDIATELY!

WOW! You suggested that the topic of the blog be changed and then spend the remainder of your post complaining about Mr. Jackson and Ms. McMasters. Perhaps there's something sinister going on? Maybe you should demand a full investigation? Isn't that what you want......uh....in the name of saving taxpayers' money, of course?
