E-mail topic: Improper Motorcycle Parking?

A tax assessor employee has parked their motorcycle on the lawn of the courthouse for several months now. Is this an acceptable or appropriate parking place? Why haven't citations been issued by law enforcement officers who are at or within sight of the violation daily? Will the County Executive, who is in charge of the courthouse, continue to allow this situation to exist?

I don't know who owns the motercycle or the scooter but whenever they are parked there they are always by the tax office.
I heard that part of the courtyard is supose to be paved to add more parking, is it true? Its a big detraction to the courthouse for anything to be on the grounds. the untrimed grass and trees are bad enough.

Isn't there ever anything positive about Giles County? Why do we always have to deal with the negative? This is a wonderful place to live and raise kids.

Of course there are many things that are good and right about the county. The point is to expose the wrongs and right them so everything is better. Why didn't you write anything specific on a positive note?

Why should I have to do that? We all know there are many good points about Giles County. I was simply saying we ought to think on those things instead of continually harping on and whining about things we see as wrong and negative.

It was your idea so it seemed natuaral that you would want to get the ball rollin. Without anything positive from you doesn't that make you as much a contributor to the negative as you claim others are? People talk about what they are interested in and most of the time it will be about the problems they are facing. It ain't about being negative it's about what's of interest that needs attention and change.

Right. And some people who continue to point out negatives have all the answers. List one thing positive about the county. How about it? Wouldn't that be cathartic?

Dear stillonapositivenote,
Giles County has one of the most beautiful courthouses in the state, the downtown is beautifully landscaped and I love living here. How is that to get a positive blog going?

I was simply trying to keep the positive thing going, so please don’t try to make something out of my words that is not there!

It is not my business where the employees of the courthouse park their vehicles because I am not employed there, nor do I own the property where you say he parks his vehicle. I am not a county employee, so, that responsibility would be someone in charge of that area.

You have a nice day and I am sure you are a very lovely person!

My husband and I owned a local business here in Giles County and made a good living from that business. We were able to put our children through school and college and they have chosen to live, work and raise their children in Giles County. As you might guess that makes me one happy Grandmother, living in such a great county!

If you live in Giles Co you DO own the property of the courthouse. It does not belong to the County Executive or the Commissioners but to the citizens as a whole.

Okay, I live in Giles County, not the city, but where people park their vehicles is something I don’t pay attention to. If I were you, and it seems you do have a problem with this matter, I would simply approach the person/persons that are in charge of that area and present my position to them. There is certainly nothing I can do to help you as a reader of this blog! Have you tried this approach yet?

I know livin an dieing is sereous beesness but them that is dead is dead an them that is alivin is still alive. Sumtimes peoples get all mixed up an them what is stil alive forget to keep alivin. Sumtime we even forgit about them other folks stil a live what loves us an needs us cause we are afraid we ain't doin right by the one that is dead. I got good memorys of them that is gone so they or always with me. I no they wood get mad at me if I jus pined my life away over mising them. I gues you wood be more happy if I rote more adult things like Captain
Obvious. Da reason I type da way I do is bcause this here keybord is dafective. When them Dell peoples sended it to me all da letters was messed up. Nun of da letters is like I lurned them in scul. To show you jus how bad it is da Q is da 1st letter. S comes next after da A. I thunk everbody noed it was A-B-C not A-S-D. Ifn you asked me all them cumputer peoples is kind of squirly.
I went to Buger King las week an they said I can't git no whappers cause da cumputer was down. I told them it were rite where it always were but the gurl said I didn't understand, da cumputer weren't workin an they couldnt cook no whappers. I jus left cause if they ar a cookin them whappers in da cumputer insteed of on da stove I didn't want none no way. So I jus went home an eated some potted meat an krackers.

I guess no one thought that he may be trying to save a parking place for cars in the limited spaces around the courthouse. If he took up a parking spot I guess you would be yelling about him parking there all day.

Wherever you go you can see motorcycles parked in areas where cars can't park and yes it does save parking spaces for other. I guess the person who started this thread didn't think about how mad they would be if there was not a parking space close to the courthouse because they where all taken by motorcylces! This is also another unconstructive thread and nitpicking!

Friday, September 29, 2006 6:06:00 AM

No, its not nitpicking. Stafford should not be parking on grass around the courthouse. While we're on the subject of parking, why are courthouse employees allowed to take the choice parking spots? Shouldn't they be parking away from the courthouse on side streets? Heard this used to be the rule. Is this another of Vanzant's new rules?

Why do the county employees think they should be privileged? They should be grateful they have good paying jobs, health insurance and all the vacation and retirement benefits, plus the other perks. Do they sometimes forget they are employed "at whim"? (All funded by citizens of Giles Co)
