10. I wasted a year of my life last year stuck in a class with a highly educated teacher that did not know how to teach students. We have one teacher that lets his students roam freely without much teaching going on. We need experienced math and science teachers. We are bored to death. I haven’t enjoyed a class since I left Mrs. Boring and Mrs. Hall’s class. I hope Mrs. White doesn’t leave!
11.Probably. I spoke about Mr. Miller leaving and what good did it do? He was a great math teacher and we all like him a lot. He had a special way of teaching where we could understand math.

The School Board Members will have a chance to re-evaluate Mr. Jackson in January 2007. This could be the answer to our prayers if everyone will sign and present petitions to their elected School Board Representative before this evaluation takes place. I truely hope that the citizens of Giles County will speak out and follow through with this important decision concerning the future of our school system.

We cannot continue to foot the bill for the lavish spending of this man.

Since the students have, so far, posted 100% against keeping Mr. Jackson, you felt the need to try and divert the topic in another direction, didn’t you? It won’t work!
If you feel such a strong need to defend Mr. Jackson, how about going on the morning radio show and take questions from the listeners and even better take Mr. Jackson with you. That would be an excellent way of getting your message across!

The teachers and principles need someone to give them direction. Mr. Jackson has provided good leadership in that area.

It is not Mr. Jackson's fault that he had an "easy" school board and county commission.

As for people liking him, sometimes unpopular decisions must be made. I'm happy to have a director who can make the hard decisions.

What do you mean by Tee Jackson giving direction? The only direction I have seen him give is the wrong one. What do you mean by and easy school board? So you just admitted that he intentionally took money from the school board under one pretense and then used it for something else. The more you say the more you enlighten us on what he is actually doing-being that when his mouth moves it doesn't say what is really happening!

I'm glad your so happy with the fact that this person is able to waste your hard earned money(that is if you work). Since you seem to think he is doing such a wonderful job make a list of good things he has done for Giles County since he has been here.

The meaning of anonymous statement,
“It is not Mr. Jackson's fault that he had an "easy" school board and county commission.”
My take on this comment is, the past school board and the commissioners were easily tricked and fooled into believing what he wanted the requested money for and passed it every time.

What makes you think that only a handful of people are posting here? It looks pretty full to me. I see alot of discussion and that is good for the community.
I also have to say that if Ms. McMasters and TT have so many supporters, why aren't we hearing from them? I believe you are wrong on that account and the proof is in the writings on this blog. Check out the blog about RHS. Write back and let us know how many positive remarks you find? The public has spoken! It's time for a change.
Give us some real proof that this administration has done the right thing by it's teachers and students and you might get a little respect on here. For now, you are way out in left field somewhere--half conscious.

I hope you will also tell Mr. Jackson how rude his staff on the hill is. As a teacher, I get so tired of having to deal with openly rude and difficult people like Cathy Beasley who work for him. I pity poor Rose Brown for being saddled with her and having to fix ripples caused by Beasley's poor attitude. If the director is trying to finesse everyone in the community, you would think he would make sure his staff is friendly, especially to the educators. Mr. Lindsey's daughter seems to think she is top cat since daddy is on the board. Ask her a question and see if you get a sensible answer or an answer at all. Then you have Mrs. Ferguson and her "girls". What a mess! On a positive note, Jackie McMillan and Adrian Braden have been friendly and nice every time I've talked with them. If the other ladies are as miserable in their jobs as their faces show, then why don't they quit and save us all some grief?

Well, let me be the first educator in this county to come to the defense of those at the central office. Mr. Lindsey's daughter has been nothing but nice to me and to others who would likewise vouch for her. She has a great disposition and personality for the job she holds. Let me suggest something. If you are kind to others they will reciprocate! Mrs. Ferguson and "the girls" as you call them have been equally nice to us. I can't speak for Cathy, because I have no dealings with her. But she seems pleasant when I see her. So what's your beef? Try a little kindness yourself, and you may find that it goes a long way!

To Friday, November 03, 2006 7:40:46 PM.,
First let me say, "I am not an educator/teacher and never have been…I don't know any of the people that is referred to in the post 4:14:43 PM, except that Mrs. Ferguson was a teacher at GCHS.” My question to you is how can you speak for people other than yourself?

Saturday, November 04, 2006 10:50:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Did anyone accuse you of being an educator? I don't think so. How can I speak for anyone other than myself? I'm sorry, but you need to explain that one! I personally know the people I mentioned in my previous post. And I KNOW others who feel the same way toward those employees. My suggestion to you remains.....try being nicer and you will find that others, including me, will reciprocate.

Saturday, November 04, 2006 7:37:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

No, I was not accused of being an educator, however I didn’t want you or anyone thinking I was a teacher. In an effort to explain “that one”….were you present when the person of post, Friday, November 03, 2006 4:14:43 PM, had the encounter that is described as rude and difficult? If not how can you defend those that are accused, that’s all?

Saturday, November 04, 2006 9:30:00 PM

I defend based upon my OWN perceptions and dealings with the people you mentioned. In addition to that, I know others who have pleasant relations with them as well. It's unfortunate that you don't. But......thats's life, isn't it? As a member of the human race, surely you can appreciate the fact that not everyone is at his/her best when someone is giving them a hard time. Could that be what happened? I work with a few rude people myself, but I refuse to allow them to pull me down. I just stay away from them.

I think your question was answered. I'll answer you again. I base my impressions of people on my OWN experiences with them. In other words, the people you speak of have never been rude to me. And I believe others who claim similar experiences with those same people. Hope that clears up your misunderstandings.

Wow, we've had one positive post concerning Giles County schools. I'm so impressed.
It is also interesting that 8 of 10 posts are negative in regard to RHS.
The person who asked that a teacher reply on here. Are you CRAZY? WE DO, but anonymously. Have you been in the world in the last 2 yrs.? Have you seen what has been done to Mr. Barrett, and two coaches at Richland because they voiced their opinions? A precident has been set. It's like working under Sadaam here. Talk, and you're gone. The only good thing I can think of is that eventually, their day will come just as Sudaam's day has come.
I AM a teacher, and I agree with the negative Cathy Beasley. I have been to the central office many times, and I don't think I've ever seen her smile. It's almost like she is jealous of teachers or hates them for one reason or another ( may have to do with a past experience with a teacher), but she is very unlikeable and rude. Her attitude is beside the point here though. WE need to focus more on Tee Jackson, and Ms. McMasters. They are the authority figures who must go. They are untrustworthy, unethical, and very rude to the citizens, students, and poor teachers of this county. Hopefully our new school board memebers ( who Tee works for) will get him and Ms. Mac out of here ASAP.
In the meantime, don't expect any teachers to reveal their true identities on here, unless they are trying to suck up!

I am a happy GCHS & BMS parent-First, let me say, our great test scores are due to our KIDS and their TEACHERS-NOT Tee Jackson-I havent heard of him taking the tests. The poor teachers wont speak out against him b/c they know and have figured out there are consequences when you do-Secondly, Mr Jackson is a native of Giles County BUT does NOT live here on a daily basis-Which is suppose to be a condition of the job-He has an apartment here that he rents, and still has his house in Alabama-So that means he pays NONE of the property taxes that we do. It is okay to have to homes in two different states if you want but I'm not buying and neither are alot of people that his dinky apartment is his main residence. I hope the members of the school board take a close look at this when they review him in January 2007-We need to go back to electing our school superintendent-I'm hoping Beverly Murrey, Bernetta Houston, Jim Greene, and Mike Young will have a big hand in checking this out further. Thirdly, I had to comment since the sugject was brought up-Cathy Beasley is hateful, she sounds so lazy when she answers the phone and she's terribly tacky-Sometimes she looks like she got out of bed and came to work-She always has been-She acts like the whole world owes her something and she is an expert on everything-They need to let her stick to what ever paperwork job she does and stay away from the phones and the front door-

What was Beverly Murrey and Mike Young thinking? A pass vote on the teacher transfer was just plain chicken sh_ _ !

For somebody who was going to take a stand, Mrs. Murrey left her district without a vote. As did Mr. Young. Deplorable.

Can you explain the teacher transfer vote and why do you think the two board members voted to pass?

The vote was to uphold Director Jackson's decision to transfer the teacher/certificated personnel to another school, Elkton, and leave the non-certificated special education assistant where she was at Southside. I think Young passed because his teacher wife is very involved in GCEA, Giles County Education Association, who was against Jackson's decision to move a teacher instead of the educational assistant. I think Beverly isn't as brave as she wants everyone to believe. Otherwise she would have voted. The only reason not to vote would be insufficient knowledge of the situation, which doesn't apply here, or not wanting to take a public stand on the matter. Obviously she didn't want to take a definite stand and by not voting she spoke loudly as to her courage in tough situations.

Which school is the teacher located now?

The teacher was sent to Elkton School. The assistant, however, is still at Southside. I got so angry when I read the newspaper article ---- I cannot believe that the needs of one special child came before the needs of the teacher and the rest of the students in the class. Once again, this shows that the regular-ed kids (and their parents) have no rights.
The fact that the aide is black may have something to do with it, too.
Mrs. Bass has been teaching for around 14-15 years with no problems. The aide is a troublemaker, talks on her cell too much during the day, and is not as attentive to the child as she should be.

Why did Murrey not vote? A hidden agenda. Wait and see. If she is supoenaed to go to court on the situation you will understand. The paper doesn't have all the facts and info the school board members have or the GCEA president. At least she spoke out freely about what was in the transcript given to her and the board members. So wait and see before you judge her or Mike. It was a no win situation to start with when the voting started. Until a new election it will continue to be 4 or more against 2 or 3. Fred Lindsay couldn't wait to second a motion he knew nothing about. That hurt the status of the school board when it was seconded. Encourge the teacher and TEA to follow through. A lot will come out.

I think you all should launch an immediate investigation into the personal lives of both people. Who knows what you might dig up.

I just learned about this sight and was going to write about Richland School cause I'm a student but when I started reading all those bad things about Mr Barrett I knowed I had to write something about him so people will know he ain’t like what some people are saying.
Brother Allen used to be my preacher. When I was born Brother Allen was right there and even held me before my Dad did. In fact it seems like he was always there when ever I needed him. He was there for a whole lot of others to, but I think they forgot.
I don’t know exactly what the anonymous people mean about him talking down to them
my mom said it was kind of like talking to people like they was stupid. If that’s right it sure ain’t Brother Allen cause he always took time for everybody even us kids that nobody else wanted to talk to. Brother Allen always made me feel smarter cause he just asked questions then listened to my answers an helped me see what was the best way to use my ideas. He said most ideas ain’t right or wrong just different. I don’t know if he talked down to me I just know I always felt better when I talked with him.

To a.
People tend to attack things they don't understand and I think that is why they treat Mr. Barrett the way they do. They do not understand that he is trying to help our county. Yes, I believe he is a very good man. I am glad he was there for you when you needed him. Sometimes you just have to overlook people that speak before they think.

To the student: Most of Mr. Barrett’s critics are the people he has exposed, so just judge him on your knowledge of him and overlook the others. I agree with you IM.

While you are busy overlooking, consider overlooking those who think they know it all. That's fair, isn't it?

How can you really be sure that was a student posting that? I mean, he/she typed "I knowed" but knew how to properly spell "ain't"? Maybe it was, but I would be hesitant to believe anything that was posted on this blog as the truth.

That is exactly what I thought when I responded previously. And sadly, truth may be a very hard thing to determine on here.

If you don't believe most things written on here, then why are you wasting you time here? I believe this student had good intentions and you want to bash him because of his usage of words. What a shame. No wonder kids have little respect for adults. YOu just made this kid feel stupid. Ain't is a common word used among most southerners, but knowed and knew may not be to this kid.
People like you and the other poster before you make me sick.
