Topic-O-Rama
Hi, I have a few suggested topics.. The swimming pool at Martin .. Why was it never fixed? There are people who could really benefit from it being there.. Those who need physical therapy with water.. Exercise in water for those that have poor circulation and would greatly benefit... Martin College could benefit by having community classes and by using the elderly from the nursing home.. Because I feel that there is a much wasted resource sitting at the nursing homes .. Elderly people that know how to do crafts or other things could pass on their skills to the younger people..What about inmates doing things for the elderly like mowing there yards.. cleaning them up or other such things in which the inmate would be giving back to the community for the mistake they made..

A large majority of these kids could be helped if their problems were dealt with BEFORE they wind up in jevenile court.
Most of the blame can be placed squarely on the shoulders of the parents. However, I think schools should do a better job identifying and dealing with the emotionally upset or "problem" child before there is trouble. Maybe a little less emphasis on acjievement tests and a lot more focus on the needs of the child would be a good start?
Isnt i strange when a new topic hits the page and its not negative, it only gets two comments-Come on people, try something positive!!!

As smart as some of the whiners are on this blog, looks like they would address this issue. After allo, they have all the answers.
It seems to me that our schools are much more concerned about test scores than they are in providing REAL psychological services to emotionally upset and disturbed children. That is shameful!
Would mental health services for those children not improve test scores? Research shows that it does.
Oh, but we can't have counselors actually providing those services, can we? No, they have to spend their time doing anything and everything but that.
wab..
Why don't you explore this situation and "expose" any wrong-doings? It seems a worthwhile endeavor since you are a champion of the poor and oppressed.
