The position in the Financial Management Office has been filled by none other than Karen Higgins formally of the County Executive's Office.
After one announcement in the paper that the job was open, that coming on Thursday with the deadline for resumes to be in on Monday, interviews were held and Ms. Higgins
is now employed by the Financial Management Office.
I suppose progress is being made at least there was an announcement and an interview, unlike some jobs.
Now the question arises as to whether there will now be an opening in Mrs Vanzant's office or will there no longer be a need for another expensive go-fer.

Vanzant has now got about 10-12 women working for her-the Finincal Office "that was not going to cost the County (tax payers) any more money the the current system" that was about 4-years ago and several hundred thousands of dollars also.

Vanzant has no responsibility for the finance office. Granted she does butt in and controls it. Garner has added the staff by brining them in from the various departments, as she should. When she fired one woman who cames from the schools she replaced that woman but did not add any more money to the finance office. It would have had to go before the commissioners and we all know Lovell, Campbell and their followers wouldnt let that happen.

Vanzant broke the law by running for a the only office in the county, per TCA (State Law) requires one to be a resident of the county, twelve months before the election!
Many people knew this and kept quiet about it. Several of those people were related to her and some of them were already employed by the county and feared the would get fired if it came out. After she was elected they KNEW if they said any thing they were gone. She now had the power.
Remember the Ambulance Service she ruined and now wants to get rid of.

This is what I've been trying to tell you people for a long time. If you are disgruntled with an elected official then run yourself for the office or support a candidate of your choice. I agree with you that it does little good to get on this blog and accuse, suggest, call names and malign others. I believe we are all adults here.
Sorry to disagree with you about the benefit this blog provides but in the overall analysis it has been more than a little beneficial. Certainly there have been some disjointed conversations but that is apart of our free speech rights. In spite of whatever shortcomings this blog may have the fact is it has and remains the most essential means of sharing political information in this county.
This blog has provided a means for the exchange of information and ideas. It has given the public some news more quickly and accurately than either the radio or newspaper. It has given news that was never even shared by the other media sources.
When did you hear and where in the paper did you read about the problems with Mrs. Vanzant's residency, the real problem with budgets, the Hunter Smith building, abuses in the school system, in county government, the inconsistencies is things said and that which was done by the school director, county executive and others, excessive spending by the city at the waste water treatment plant, the true salary of the mayor/industrial recruiter, county lawsuits, leaps and bounds abuses etc, etc.
Have you read anything substantive about the current problem of slander levied against a teacher at Southside, about the threats to her by the director in the paper or heard it on the radio? This is a lawsuit in the making and this blog is the only outlet for information about it to the county.

People have lost their jobs and some have had to pay out huge sums and some have even gone to jail for the type behavior being claimed at the jail. Is it true, I don't know but certainly there is circumstantial evidence to support asking the questions. All activities taking place on the job is the business of the people paying the salaries. That has been upheld in the courts. If this situation is true and the female should claim sexual coercion by a superior any semi-competent lawyer would be able to bring suit with another huge payout from the county.

I do believe that there is proof that some activites did go on in the jail. And I did find out that the CO is married with two kids. Her initals are JH. Kyle seriously needs to look into this situation. Has Kyle checked the cell phone records? Mark Chandlers wife is a good woman and is well thought of in Giles County. I hate that this has happened to her but now she can move on to better things. I want her to know she is well supported in the community.

Kyle has a very good reputation here in Giles Co. And I hope that he keeps it. I am sure that Kyle would not condone Mark Chandlers actions. However, it is correct that if a law suit is filed Kyle will be the first for it to come down on being that he is Mark's boss. If Marks's wife is an alcoholic then he needs to deal with that issue instead of getting someone elses wife pregnant. JH's husband (Alvin)knows she is pregnanat and he knows that it is not his. Alvin also knows that Mark is the babys father. Maybe Kyle needs to start calling family members instead of listening to his two employees. The tax payers money is not paying Mark's wifes salary. The tax payers are paying Marks and JH's salary. I don't want my money be used that way. What if someone had an emergency, how long would it take them to find Mark to get there since he is so involved in extra activites. Again, if Marks wife has that problem then it should have been dealt with while she was working. She is now retired. Mark's problem is here and now. He has been caught. Now it's up to Kyle to do something about it.
Okay now lets look at this this way; Kyle is an elected official of Giles Co. We taxpayers pay his salary. We taxpayers are letting him know what is going on under his nose. It is up to Kyle to handle this. Now, if Kyle choses not to believe it or ignore that is his choice. 2801 went 10-7. I hope everyone is happy. Mark Chandler resigned not because of guilt but because he refuses to serve a county so unappreciative of the work he has done. For all those concerned, he is with Jack D and is happy.
If it's true that Chandler has resigned, that's great, bout time for him to tuck tail and run. It was just a matter of time for him anyway. The only thing he was good at busting was a nut, bet he wished now he would have been smart enough to use protection! A person would have thought in his position that would have been first thing on his mind. I'm glad my money is not going to support an idiot such as Chandler!

Has LT Tommy Chapman and Admin Tresa Mattox been investigated yet? From what I hear they have been having an affair longer than Chandler and Herndon. Has Kyle started cleaning house yet? It was said that Admin Mattox said she did not care what was said on the blog because it was a lie. I am just an observer in this matter, but I wanted to say how sorry I am that this little band of malcontents are determined to ruin anyone they dislike or resent for whatever reason. This all started a couple of years or more ago when a politically powerless little man started running around town stirring up trouble. Now we can all see how the problem has grown and spread like a cancer.
I am absolutely stunned and bewildered that they seem to stop at nothing, not seeming to care that they hurt innocent family members. I suppose, to them, the end result justifies the means.

Some people say this blog is useless and only causes harm. What do I know, I'm just an ole factory worker. But let me tell you what happened to me last week and you just might change your mind....
I was sitting on my back porch (I just attached to my trailer the other day) down in the Diana Community and it was getting pretty dark out. The recliner sure feels good after a hard day at work. So there I was all kicked back eating my chocolate moon pie ( I really don't like the vanilla ones to much. Popped the top on my RC Cola, when in the sky I saw something flash by. It was so fast. So I look down to make sure that I had grabbed the RC and not my Miller Lite. Sure enough I had my RC in hand. Then I see it again, and I am thinking "Now that looked like a woman on a broom". I get confused. So then I check and see if I picked up a moon pie instead of my wife's special brownies. Sure enough I had a moon pie in hand. Then I hear a voice from the the woman in the sky flying around up above. I get a litte scared because what I hear is her singing a song. Now, we all have seen the movie Hocus Pocus with Bette Middler and that real hot, tall blonde. So I start to get a little scared. She is singing the song from the movie "I put a spell on you and now your mine"..but she was using a male name. It was the name Mark. Now,you can sing along with me if you know the song, it went like this "I put a spell on mark and now he's mine. Of all the witches working, I'm the worst. I put a spell on Mark and now he's mine." Well, now I am real scared cause my wife is going to be home real soon and I don't want her putting a spell on me. I'm thinking my name is Leroy not Mark she can't take me. But just to make sure I look down at my ole Frito-Lay shirt and sure enough Leroy is stitched on my shirt. Then and there I knew it wasn't me she was after.
I have lost a lot of sleep over the weeks from that. Just hoping she doesn't get me my name confused.
Then I was told about this blog and I read it. Mystery solved! I now know who mark is and the witches!! I am so grateful cause my wife sure would miss my paycheck if them witches would have gotten me that night.

We have been in a committed relationship since Dec 2003 and I can assure that whom ever wrote above statement is not telling the truth. As for the above mention female C.O.'s there has never been anything other than platonic friendship. Yes he does have a girlfriend for the past 4 years those in our lives know that. I swore I would never again look at this site after I saw what was being said about Dustin Sigmon he is a great guy and he was being ripped up by those in county that he helped protect for a very long time.
I too have been in the center of the bulls eye here on those blog. I have been accused of so much and hurt a great deal by those in this county I once took care of. I am just wondering where these people get off bashing Chandler and acting like they feel sorry for the CO-- Jennifer Herndon. She was just looking for a meal ticket and it made her feel good to be with someone of status. She knew exactly what she was doing! As for Mark, he's an older man. Do you blame him for giving in to advances from a younger girl? That kind of thing happens all hhe time. What older man wouldn't want a younger woman?
And as for Jennifer, she is nothing but a gold digger and she has had her fair share of men. She started early and already had multiple partners before she even graduated high school. And did you know she had abortions in high school? For those of you who feel so sorry for her, you need to do your research. She is not a saint by any means, I can't believe she can even show her face in Pulaski. For all you that know her, watch out and keep your husbands away from her because she will try to find another target soon.

Ya she is the reason everything is wrong at ambulance service. NOT!!! Place has had problems since doors were open she want to fight a good fight instead she was ripped apart from one end of Giles county to the other. She wants nothing but great things for the service here has moved on and done pretty great things for her self since leaving one of which being promoted to supervisor on C shift. She is going through rough time her heart is broken and she is trying to work through this. She loves Joe a great deal still hated what was being said and stood up for him.
Leave her alone and if Joe has some one new and I know she wishes them both all the best. If you are the real deal then put your name to the posts her call, better yet sign your name to the post. So bless ya'lls hearts can't believe how kind all of you are on this blog!!!!!!!!

It is truely amazing that Giles County is so obsessed with Mark Chandler and his life. This blog has been going on for months and I think it is safe to say it has caused enough damage to him and the family. Whats so blown out of proportion? Jennifer is having Marks child in about 4 weeks, Mark is getting a divorce, Jennifer and Alvin have signed their papers for a divorce in Lewisburg. I think all that has been said on here is the absolute truth. Mark did have an affair with Mickies cousin. I don't see anything blown out of whack on here. I only see truth. People in Giles County are just stupid all together. Take Alvin's mom Patsy Herndon....she went to Jennifer's babyshower. How much more stupid can you get?
