Giles Free Speech Zone

The purpose of the "Giles Free Speech Zone" is to identify problems of concern to the people of Giles County, to discuss them in a gentlemanly and civil manner, while referring to the facts and giving evidence to back up whatever claims are made, making logical arguments that avoid any use of fallacy, and, hopefully, to come together in agreement, and find a positive solution to the problem at hand. So precisely how have Pulaski and Giles County benefitted from the large expenditure of tax-payer $$ that the Economic Development Board have been responsible for ?
Are we throwing $$ down a rat hole ? How many empty industrial buildings that dont add to the tax-base do we need ?
Don't we just have a bunch of politicians standing in a Three-star circle patting each other on the back for money well-spent on themselves ?

Since Barnes left and Dan Speer appointed himself Economic Development director we have only lost businesses and probably more to come. County needs to quit paying their half of the expenses for that office. Lets face it, we didnt get any new businesses move here under Speer for the last couple of years so with downturn in the economy we surely cant expect any improvement. Just suppose out of the blue a business decided to locate here that could be negotiated with the county executive and the city mayor. Economic director is redundant in these harsh times and we cant afford to keep paying for nothing.

Ohh, come on now what's a hundred thousand dollars for a mayor/industrial recruiter if it keeps him happy. Maybe he should give himself a raise and we could be a four star county next year.

Maybe if we spent that amount on advertising -including putting some signs on the freeway pointing to Pulaski ? - instead of paying his fat salary and for him for taking jaunts in that fancy SUV we'd have more jobs coming into Giles Co. ?
Why does he need a full-time secretary when he only does a part-time job ? Ah, that's right -he draws full-time pay ,so that's why.

Yes they did but it wasn't the part-time mayor who now makes over a hundred thousand dollars a year. Allen Barrett
