A political slogan has begun to pop up "Tired Of Business As Usual, Vote For Vicki"
While this may sound like a very catchy slogan the truth of the matter is that Mrs Vicki Harwell has been a part of the "business as usual" problem.
As a member of the City Council Mrs Harwell has voted in agreement with the Mayor the majority of times, and has done nothing to distinguish herself as being independent of the Mayor's influence.
Having been deeply involved with the Democrat Party, Mrs Harwell has too often aligned herself with the Obama administration bringing into question her competence to provide the leadership needed in the Pulaski Mayor's Office.
Those who fail to understand the dangers of a socialist society can hardly be expected to follow the sound practices of capitalist success. The federal government has failed us in their attempts to socialize the nation, those same attempts will fail us on the local level just as quickly and severely. One person trying to force us into a retirement community can not be replaced with someone whose ideas and desire to control are just as great.

Vickie only spoke out at the PES meetings against Dan cause she wants his job as mayor. Some of those bits of paper she read from were her quetions not coming from somebody else as she tried to make people think. Anybody who dont come clean in the newspaper (Whitt Miller) wont do the right thing by us if she gets elected.
On a different topic, there are several precedent court cases in Tennessee ruling that speed bumps on city streets are illegal.

I have known Vicky since High School....she has always been very outspoken to the point of being obnoxious. I served with her during PTO meetings for our children...It has always been her way or it wasn't right. Very controlling...so I cannot see her going along with anybody. Sorry Allen!!! What most don't understand is that the Mayor has very little authority. The biggest responsibility of the position is to "Chair" the meetings of the Board of Mayor and Aldermen. The Mayor casts the deciding vote in the event of a tie. Basically, the Mayor is a figure head. A glorified alderman.
I do not endorse Vicky, and I personally believe that she will use any authority that she has to her benefit, but the facts are that the position does not have that much authority.

The mayor has the power and authority to appoint every board in the city including the Power board, the Chamber of Commerce, and in the case of the power board he assigned the chair. The power board control the cost of electricity. He controls the water and gas departments and all the jobs in those departments.
If Harwell is elected mayor I promise you Terry will be working in the Gas department within 6 months or another city job within 3 months.
The power is in the Boards and there appointments.
Oh yes they are attacking two people in Giles county, Barrett and Dan Spear.

The Mayor does not appoint those positions without the approval of the Aldermen!
And when have the aldermen not given him what he wanted? How do you think Jerry Bryant got to be chairman of the powerboard again after he was in charge during the Holcome mess that almost bankrupted the power company and the city.
And the Mayor has little to do with the Chamber of Commerce. The Mayor and County Executive are Ex Officio members, but they rarely if ever attend a meeting.
I agree that Vicky, if elected Mayor will do what she can to gain any advantage for her and for her family.
Like the other poster said, the aldermen have to approve it. But, yes, she will try to give jobs to her family.

No I am not jealous....simply stating she was not a team leader when President of the PTO...her agenda was to mandate and tell everybody how, why, and when do their jobs! Do I oppose Vicki Harwell for the position of mayor, absolutely. I have worked with Mrs Harwell on a number of different projects including the expose of the PES and
the establishment of a wall between the mayors position and the Industrial Development Recruiter. She has called me a number of times seeking advice and information and I have sought her involvement in some situations. I was intending to support her in the mayor's race. Well, opinions are like noses, and everybody has one. I don't regret voting for Mrs. Vanzant, and I do not share your doom-and-gloom outlook.
Just consider for a moment who would have been one step nearer to the power they so desperately want had Mr. Stewart prevailed in his election bid. And the irony of it is that they played a major role in his defeat.
Allen Barrett is a liar. It doesn't matter if you are under oath in court, you will still lie to save whatever "reputation" you think you still have here. My husband and I were in Tunica, and spotted Barrett and his wife. As soon as I called out Brenda's name, both Barretts looked like they'd seen a ghost. WAB grabbed her arm, and they high-tailed it out of there. Now, obviously, I find nothing wrong with going to Tunica. I enjoy getting away down there a few times a year. The Barretts have always been friendly with us, but this getaway showed their true colors to me. Did they think I was going to take a photo or video of them to show proof of them being human and having a good time? Barrett needs to know that we simply wanted to say hello, not record their "sinful behavior." Just because he chooses to record people's words and actions, doesn't mean that everyone else is that devious.

Some of this where all of the research and effort was completed by others, and all she had to do was turn paperwork in. Let's be clear I have not said or written any thing "nasty" about anyone as has been claimed. I have written some harsh criticisms and exposed some very uncomfortable things about certain "public officials". Those things were truthful and their veracity is unchallenged.
While criticism is seldom easy to hear I chose to post over my name as the responsibly thing to do, even knowing that criticism would result. I don’t mind legitimate criticism but the problem is that I and my family members have been attacked on very personal levels with some of the most foul and disgusting LIES that could be imagined. Bullying a child is disgusting and illegal but apparently acceptable by the poster who tried to attack me using what they presumed was my granddaughters sexual orientation.
Now comes even more vicious lies, some I have already addressed but will address for one last time.

I have never been to Tunica. The 15 Oct. 8:16 poster is a flat out liar along with anyone who would repeat such unfounded gossip. I would tell the person to their face they are lying except they are too cowardly to state such a lie to my face. If I chose to go to a casino who’s business would it be other than mine unless I ask you to pay my bills? If I were in a casino why would I be afraid to speak to someone I happened to know who was there also? The writer in their two-faced way stated that “obviously, I find nothing wrong with going to Tunica. I enjoy getting away down there a few times a year” then three sentences later they state, “Barrett needs to know that we simply wanted to say hello, not record their "sinful behavior”.
So it seems according to the poster there is “nothing wrong in going to Tunica” if you are the writer of lies but it’s “sinful behavior” if I were to go there. Is that not a double standard?
I have no problem with gambling as long as your family does not suffer. I grew up in a housing project and learned how to use dice before third grade I had pitched coins and flipped them prior to that. The first time I ever heard of dice was from a story in the Bible I reading. I have bet on many things in my lifetime and will most likely bet of some things in the future. My income was substantially enhanced while in the military by football, golf, baseball pools, cards and other means of making a living. I play Texas Hold ‘em on line for fun but I would never play cards for money against cartoon characters.
Now once again the matter of the Nursing Home has come up. I did not go to the Nursing Home, I did not see, talk with or come within miles Mr. Black during before or after the election. I did call the Nursing Home and asked about Mr. Black’s name. The Nurse in charge took my name and phone number then he had Mr. Black’s daughter call me. We spoke and she told me what his name was and the name of his son. We also discussed his condition in the context that I also have a family member who requires constant care and the difficulty that situation causes. I will be glad to go to this un-named employee at NHC with you and others of your choosing and ask them face to face if they have seen me at NHC visiting anyone since June.
Now if you, are anyone else has any questions or comments other than from your imagination, and gossip from anonymous cowards, I will gladly address those but I hope people will be intelligent enough to consider the source and realize that a person, supposedly an adult, willing to attack a child and refuse to be identified with their vicious lies and gossip doesn’t have enough integrity to be considered as anything more than a gossip and cowardly liar.

This blog has caused a tremendous amount of strife and hurt throughout our county. It is monitored by one who ought to be (my opinion) ashamed of himself for allowing garbage to be posted.
More importantly, I think he should be held responsible in the event that someone gets hurt or killed because of some inflammatory remark. And there have been some pretty severe and potentially dangerous comments made on this blog.

First the thing she is driving is classified as an enclosed motorcycle and dose not require a helmet but dose require a motorcycle license.
As for the cook off, the guy from Punk and Blues Cafe started being rude to terry and Vicky over something, which is bad manors but not illegal. So he and Terry start welling at each other Terry says "Im a county commissioner, you don’t know who you are messing with" and tries to take the guys camera away. And of course their daughter stuck her "BIG" nose in the mix. Then Terry threw a glass of water on the guy and he then pushed Terry, cant blame him, and Terry called the cops wanting the other guy arrested. Looked to me like Terry should have been arrested. They seem to think they are a little better than every one else and it’s just not true. I have found them to be self serving, stuck up and down right rude. Not to mention that daughter of theirs is still out drinking and driving. Down at the Elks Lodge drunk telling lies about Pat Ford and the police department along with what ever else she decides to lie about.

You know something its kinda amazaing about Mr. Terry Harwell. The comment about "Im a county commisoner" thats not the first he has used that line. Who cares what you are. You are just like me you put 1 leg in at a time. But you and your wife and whole family HAHA think that you are better than some people.By seeing that video and stil seeing that you are using the same ole comment "Well im a county commisoner" line you just lost A LOT OF VOTES. Grow up you are all acting like a bunch of children.

the video is back on you tube. watch it and judge for your self. It dose stop in the midle but Mr. harwell dose assault Mr. Hughes first by attempting to grab the camera. While bad manors Mr. hughes was breaking no law. Mabey after all of this the Harwell family will feel diffrent next time they start running people down. They have done to alot of other people what Mr. Hughes is doing to them now, mabey this is just karma in action.

We gots us some smart folks on this here blog. They think what's in that video aint been edited. What a laugh. Also funny is knowing those that are writing the most smack about the chili cookoff were working the Haslam booth on the other side of the square. Do you think you aren't obvious? You're not well liked and you wish you were. You haven't figured out people know the loud-mouths you are. You spread lies and are too busy trying to discredit those doing good to see what you've become. Quit bashing other families when you need to take a serious look at what your mouths have cost you with your own family.
This is the video from the chili cook off and no it has not been edited. It is two files on a hard drive camera, the exact same files the police viewed the night of the cook off minutes after the altercation as well as down loaded directly from my camera. The files are intact and still on my camera as evidence. The footage from Punk-n-Blues Cafe across the block in front of Reeves to the Staar's Theater was clipped because of length and the file size was too large to load to youtube but nothing was clipped or edited from the Fire Marshall's booth, which was in violation of the fire code, to Terry attacking me and the camera getting cut off in the scuffle. If I edited the video don't you think I would have taken out the phrase that I said when trying to keep Terry off me with one arm and protecting my camera with the other? Their is a 15-20 second gap before I was free enough to get the camera back on in which you see the remainder of the incident and after the name calling Terry directed my way he did throw water on me but thankfully it did not get my camera. As the video shows I was only on the side walk to film the infractions of the fire code as evidence when I file a complaint here soon, but was on the street when attacked. In fact I was trying to document all city council members at the cook off like Pat Miles, whose booth I also filmed, Charles Jenkins is in footage, as is Dan Speer, and Colby Baddour.

If Vicky had not directed conversation toward me when I was talking to another gentleman, who I wish would come forward to the police and tell them what he witnessed as well as the woman that was standing next to him, I would have walked off the side walk and continued to Sports World and around the square.
As for the statement about the little girl, that is totally false. I did film Katie and a little girl sitting in two chairs while campaigning, blocking the side walk and obstructing the right of way of pedestrians, that is illegal by local ordinance, but I never came within 90 to 100 feet of either. I have impartial witnesses who told the police this as well as video footage. The girls mother did show up and she was not calm and did holler at me that she did not give me permission to film her child which is laughable because my intent was not to film the child nor to scare the child but only to document the obstruction. I was told by the impartial witness that the little girl did get scared because she thought I was the police coming to arrest them and my camera was a gun. I do hate the little girl was indirectly involved and although the little girl was in a public place, campaigning with Katie, and I have every right to film and load to youtube I will not, but any one, with the exception of the Harwell Klan, that wishes to see the footage of what was filmed oct 28th I will make it available but not in a way that may embarrass the little girl or bring more attention to her, and if you view the footage I hope you will be respectful towards the little girl as well.

It is true that I do not want Vicky Harwell as Mayor, nor Mr. Gentry, nor do I wish to see Pat Miles or Charles Jenkins to be re-elected after their actions over the years concerning my business. If you think I have never said anything to any of the other council members ask Mr. Jenkins, Mr.Peysinger and Mr. Baddour who I have also had conversations with. I have not had conversations with Gentry or Miles because I do not think it would do any good and they have never made or instigated conversations with me in public. They have sat silently as my rights as a business owner and my Constitutional rights were being violated by the Mayor and city Council.
As I told Mr. Jenkins Fri, Oct 29th how disappointed I was with him, when he directed a conversation my way, that this incident would have never happened had the Mayor and City Council been open to discussion in a public forum, where such business should take place, instead of trying to usher me behind closed doors when I come to work session meetings with the laws, precedents set, State Attorney General opinions, Constitutions, etc., which they never want to view or discuss with a person that is a property owner and trying to operate a business and has had so many restrictions put on his business that apply to no other business selling the same products. Mean while when there friends come to the table with something illegal, like the issuance of temporary beer permits on public land which state law specifically states is not allowed in class A counties and municipalities they vote unanimously to approve it. All this will come out when it goes to court. After all when I attended my final meeting in April and stated the law on public record I was hushed and then another temporary permit was issued illegally. In addition, the Mayor told me that if I though they did something wrong to go get a lawyer, so I did.
In the tape Vicky states I am ugly to her all the time; I have had one conversation with her in public, prior to this altercation when I found out that she was running for Mayor. I did ask her not to run and I even said please. I told here that I did not believe that the citizens truly knew the two faces of Vicky. In the small chance she is elected it is the only thing that is equally as bad as what we have sitting in that position now.
In fact when I went to the City Council to ask them to overturn the ordinance they wrote in the beer permit rules for businesses on the square or one block off that banned any advertisements of beer signs on the outside or on the property period, state law and Constitutional law says I have the right, Vicky Harwell made the statement that she could not condone allowing me to have a sign advertising the products if it meant overturning the ordinance that might allow some one to come in and buy the Hunter Smith building and open up a restaurant, hang a sign advertising beer that the people of the Methodist Church may have to look at. The Church bought the building at a discounted rate at the taxpayers expense shortly afterward. At least four members attend that church and the vice mayor Charles Jenkins was the Chairman of the board and this was never disclosed. Although Jeff Hatfield attended that church He listened and tried to get it to a vote but it has been tabled for over two years. Thank you Jeff for trying to do what was right, you got my vote.

I do believe if you have to take an oath to protect every citizens Constitutional rights, to enter the office of mayor, you must first believe in the Constitution yourself. The current Mayor has failed miserably at protecting these rights, except when it is convenient for him. But as I said all this will come out. While I am thinking about this, how can we have the head of the Economic Development Commissioner that is so under qualified. We are paying around $85,000 annually of taxpayer money to go to a man with a Psychology major, a partner in an insurance company with a sign in a window, "we sell business insurance", and a wife whose business markets employee benefits to companies? Is this in the best interest of the taxpayers. I can tell you my insurance is not with his company and then go back to the public records and see how he has acted towards me in a time I was trying to add to the tax base and had goals of improving one of the historic buildings off the square. When he is out of both positions you will see this area flourish.
In reference to the anonymous comments on this blog, I do wish the people who wish other people to read their opinions had backbone enough to sign their name to them. In my opinion a person that is not person enough to own their words is not much. I also know there were 5 people who witnessed the filming of Katie and the little girl. Two impartial witnesses who would never write such stupidity, the little girl, Katie and I. Wonder who wrote the anonymous blog filled with untruths?

I'll be happy to show it to any one except the Harwell Klan. The Harwell family, by blood or marriage, is not invited and if they show up and try to cause a disturbance the law will be called.
In conclusion, so everyone knows who I am; I grew up here, played basketball for Giles County High School and graduated in 87, attended Martin where I was a scholarship athlete and played basketball as well as soccer on the very first team at Martin. Attended the University of Tn for logistics and transportation and later Hollywood Film Institute. My parents are Bobby and Sandra Hughes, My Uncle who I miss very much was County Commissioner and Richland School teacher Terry Hughes and my Grandfather who I also miss very much was local policeman of 30 years Lt. Robert Hughes. Many of you know my family and know we have never nor will we ever want to hurt or destroy this area but it is a time to rid what hurts this community and right now it seems to be our government officials. We have to bond together and vote these officials that abuse their power with intimidation tactics, slander citizens openly on the street, and think the citizens have no rights out of office.
