Great Debate For Giles County!

Last night the three candidates seeking to represent the 65th District of Tennessee in the State Legislature met in a well organized debate, sponsored by the Giles Patriots. More than a hundred citizens came to the Pulaski Recreation Center to meet and hear the views of these men. They faced off on a number of questions for an hour and a half with almost another hour of all three candidates mingling with the crowd.

Each candidate Mr Bass, Mr Spivey, and Mr Root gave a very good accounting of themselves in expressing their views about state government and in responding to the questions that had been submitted by audience members.

Mr Bass is the current representative from the 65 District and a democrat who asked that people examine his record. Mr. Spivey is a republican but describes himself as more of a conservative who is more responsive to the people than the party. . Mr. Root defined himself as a conservative independent who has taken no money from any groups.

Very glad they debated. Giles Countians generally do elect the most qualified candidates. Case in point:

COUNTY COMMISSIONER DISTRICT 7
Terry W. Harwell - 477
T.A. (Tommy) Campbell – 448
Vicki Coleman – 423
(WAB) William Allen Barrett – 254

Do not accuse Mr. Barrett of trying to stir up something. Just look at above post.

I think 10:10 was just trying to remind barrett that the voters in the 7th District did not want him. And he's the one who is trying to stir up trouble over his HUGE loss.

Who is trying to stir up trouble now? 10:10 and 10:39 I always said anything Barrett said Rapid would have something hateful to say about it.

Billy Spivey did a great job and called Eddie out on the way he has voted in the past. Just like Eddie said check his record..it doesn't lie.

No, the chief troublemaker and pot stirrer is none other than william allen barrett. You should know that without my having to tell you.

10:10 an 10:39 were stirring too. It was uncalled for on this blog. I think they were the same person as 7:30.

5:06 good post. You posted on the subject. My vote goes for Eddie tho.

I have no idea who 10:10 is, but I admit to being the one who posted at 12:39. I made the post to simply point out that barrett needed to be reminded that the voters in 7th District do not want his services. Apparently, he hasn't accepted that yet.

If Mr. Barrett was wanting to stimulate debate and report on the legislative races, you would think he would at least get the candidates' names right.

To 7:19:
Always attacking the person when you can't attack the truth they present. Shows how shallow and desperate you are. If you were not at the debate, then you have nothing to share on this topic. So my suggestion is move on. While you maybe tired of Mr. Barrett, we "ALL" are tired of you, even those who may have initially agreed with you in the past. You are an immature, bitter person that even when you get your way, you can't be happy. Your health will appreciate a break from all your incessant spewing and "WE" would too. Buh Bye!

I bet Mr. Roop agrees with 7:19 and appreciates his point. Making fun of a candidate's last name as Barrett did certainly has no place on this forum. Nothing "immature" or "bitter" as far as I can see about calling his hand on it. Now those might be warranted descriptions of Barrett's actions though.

It's ok if Rapid or Boss Hog which I think fits better miss types, but oh don't let anyone else do that.

I had never heard of Mr. Root or Roop before so don't know what is correct. That's one time I'm taking up for Barrett, he probaly didn't know he spelled it wrong.

6:59 I may be dense, but I can't see what your post has to do with the topic? Or maybe you are one of those people who feel like you look better by putting others down?! Takes a big person to anonymously attack someone who signs their own name on their own blog. Start your own blog and show us how smart you are. Wonder if you could post on topic then.
Doubt it though as you've proven you are totally ignorant of all matters in government but apparently fancy yourself an expert on Barret. What did folks like you do before Mr. Barret started holding officials feet to the fire and at least TRYING to make them operate openly and honestly. Oh forgot, it was a perfect world before he moved here.

I am amazed that the one who is so dedicated to holding me accountable for "bad behavior" has maintained a consistent dialog of attacks against me when I haven't even posted anything for days. This thread had nothing but a very simple statement that gave positive attention to candidates and the forum the Giles Patriots provided yet there is noting but criticism of me and anyone who is perceived as being supportive of me. I'm beginning to wonder if perhaps the "great task taker" has revealed himself as even more of a trouble creator than enabler? It's sad when you think about it, to be so filled with hate that your whole focus in life has become finding fault with someone as unimportant as me.

I do apologize to Mr. Roop for the misspelling of his name. Having met Mr. Roop and seeing him as a thoughtful man of maturity and character I doubt my mistake caused him anywhere as much distress as the one whining about the error.

Fact is 11:38 you don't understand facts. Check out Eddies voting record. He says one thing but the way he has voted doesn't represent what he says. I think that's pretty simple, don't you? Or are you going to be like these other mindless goofs on here and deny proof, the law and the like?
